They already have a trait to increase damage based on how many boons they have. But having like a gandmaster trait to share all your boons would be pretty awesome
Not all boons are offensive oriented. Also, Power of the Virtuous has nothing to do with increasing the potency of boons, just your dps. Also, that trait isn’t that great to begin with. It isn’t worth specing into 25 Virtues just for that.
Awesome or not, sharing that many is still overpowered.
@Kami
Save Yourselves! is intended as a defensive spell.
And you’re getting this info from….?
Probably because you usually use it to defend yourself more then to put pressure on someone. Since it give fury , might , retaliation you could see it as an offensive but the fact that it break stun, you usually wait for the “best moment” to use it. Like when your allies gonna die from conditions, when you are knock down and youll take a beating if you dont get upt , when your life is getting low etc.
I rarely use it when im full just to get more offensive power.
I wouldn’t be oppose to having Orb of Wrath home in on its target as Ray of Judgement does but attacks are slower.
Orb of Wrath? I dont see no wrath here. I see a small , lovely blue orb slowly making its way to my enemy and then hug it in a small sound effect.
Should be renamed to orb of gentle caring.
the scepter overall as the only real ranged weapon for the guardian is incredibly weak. the bolts are too slow for pvp where an enemy can literally run away from you and not be hit.
and the attack times are WAY far out. causing the dps to drop even lower than it states it is. .8 per attack is ridiculous, if it was really .25 per attack like it says, then i wouldn’t make a single complaint, because then it would be on par with melee weapons for dps, except that the number 2 is useless for real dps unless your target is downed, stunned, or not paying attention.
it seriously needs a projectile speed, and attack speed buff up. something to make it so guardians will be able to use it during fights where ranged is necessary and not feel like taking it off afterwards.
right now guardian are forced to play specific types of weapons at all times. you are either a staff and greatsword, or a staff and hammer for PvE play (sometimes mace+shield/focus/torch). but nothing beats out the benefits of the greatsword and staff when it comes to large numbers of PvE stuff popping out. a single target weapon just doesn’t cut it.
I do agree alot with you. Even more, when there is a large volume of enemies, smite dont touch them all, its not even an aoe. Like if there is four target, everyone will get touched by smite but one after the other. It tick on different targets but still feel like a single target weapon. Not like when you drop a ground with great sword, staff or hammer(3chain) which tick on alot of enemies at the same time.
Like i use scepter for some bosses where going in close is dangerous or for exemple in AC where you want to stay on the wall killing the gargoyles or Path 1 last boss in the stairs since the staff get obstructed most of the time.
I hate using it mostly because the further is the boss, the more chance i get to miss with my slow projectiles because as soon as he move, the chain of bubbles heading toward him will just miss.
And the cherry on top, the scepter look weak in term of animations/sounds for auto attack and smite, the chains though are nice looking.
can the scepter attacks look more mean? I mean the sound effect/animation of the auto attack and smite are really not up there with all the other weapons in the game. I feel so weak when i use them, a big charr swinging the scepter super hard but those small blue bubble with random floating pattern. Looks way better when im in melee with it, feel like im clubbing someome haha.
For smite perhaps get the fists bigger? I mean its cool having fists flying everywhere but it took me a kitten while to notice them with the graphic at max. At first i though it was only a sigil on the ground. The sound of it too is pretty weak.
I just think the scepter could have some love. All the weapons in the game have cool attack that look like it hurt or awesome special effect. The guardian scepter though look really weak.
as my only range weapon (staff is not), i would like to love it but its so dull.

after 200 views nobody know how conditions stack and what would be better for the pve?
One thing i did notice in my test yesterday is even with the trade from condition to power, my damage is kinda the same or better
Back when i did the test with rampager with both a green toch and a green sword on a lvl 80 mob without my pet and with the -20% recharge on off end, it was around 16 seconds.
Today with Knight gear, same spec except an exotic sword but still a green torch, i was getting 14 seconds.
So i say these 2 seconds less are probably because of the sword. I would have tought that dropping that much condition damage to get power instead would have killed my torch but i seem to do as well with it as before.
Greatsword with trait = 23 sec
Sword and axe = 20 sec
Sword and dagger = 21 sec
Shortbow = 24 sec
Axe and torch = 18 sec
Hi there, been playing my ranger a little while and cant really set up on weapons nor on gear used with it. Ive been from condition to power. I would really love to have a clear explanation on how condition work for burning, poison and bleed. Because i just felt that in a group of 5, where someone was doing 20 stacks of bleed alone and me capping the last 5, i had alot of my dps cut out.
This is the build i came with after much testing, took me a while to make it. I love being sturdy. I love to kill all the champions alone in the outside world.
this is where i am at at the moment gear wise, pet, trait wise

*I switch wilderness survival offhand to greatsword depending on what i wield.
So before i was full rabid with sword torch, shortbow. What i dont like about the sword main hand is while you jump, you cant dodge and often in dungeon it can be fatal.
So yeah i just want to know about you guys what you like, how conditions stack and what advice you could give me on that.
I did try both. I find conditions unappealing in there states and here is why (in my opinion) and i am only talking about the PVE.
-So much people and so many attack put conditions on creatures, often in dungeon mobs are stack with 25 bleed, 1min of poison , 15 or so vuln and some burning. I just feel that if i go full condition, the more people there are (like temple and such), my damage get mitigated by other players from too much conditions. Some creature like destroyers or (i think its some type of undead) are immune to burning / poison.
-From power though come the armor class that can mitigate some of the damage you do but at least when you do a 3k damage, you do it.
I do agree i would love a dps meter for easier calculation then juste supposed health pool and do math on it.
Anyway thats just my 2 cent, i felt better and more reliable dps in group with power. Solo condi was equally as strong i guess.
Welcome Peti!
Ok so where to start!
in gw2 you need some knowledge on how to start a character because it can be a bit frustrating at first. The thing is, if you stay in only one zone, by the time you get to the highest level (where the enemy are the strongest) you are no match for them and get one shot, whatever your class.
What you need to do is go to your main city to the south, find a pink(purple) swirl on the map called “Asura Gate”. When you enter it, you will be teleported to Lion Arch city at the portal hub. From there, you will be surrounded by other portals. The people that guard it show you what starting area the portal will lead you to. So lets say you are level 7, then go do the human starting zone to get more experience. You can do then the Asura if you want to do. The game reward you for exploration and to get your legendary at the end, you need 100% map completion so its not a bad thing to do lowel level content. Anyway you get scaled down in level so even if you are lvl 60, doing lvl 10 content is still relevant in XP. Its the only part in the game where you HAVE TO switch zone, else then that, i always pick up ahead after that and zones/events become easier to do.
You can use the Black Lion trading post in town to and buy upgrades for you. Sometime just having a good weapon make all the difference in the world. Most of the upgrades wont cost alot. Like at level 10 i equip myself properly , blue weapons , blue armor, 2xrings, 2xearrings. At level 20 i buy green weapons (if they are cheap), amulet. At level 25 instead of having one stat on the armor pieces, you start seeing 2. So i re-equip myself. Like i said, the stuff is cheap since there is so many people selling them. You can do the entire game without the Auction house but it still can help you out if you struggle.
For the Events in general, almost all of them can be done solo (you can even kill champion alone if you know what you are doing). It is just perhaps your lack of level vs content and your gear vs content that is perhaps not on par yet, so no sweat about that, youll get the hang of it and youll be pounding those events like if they were cake. For the sea witch event near the coast that killed you, its like that for everyone. She is in urgent need of a nerf, newcomer that face her get traumatized. The only class i could kill her with was an engineer (mines). She is the hardest event, almost impossible withouth other people.. she is really unfair.
For the ranger class, i say its the best a Pve ( player vs environment (enemies)). I do all the event by myself and kill champions solo that other classes cannot do. Its a good class, dont listen to the forum. Most of them complains about pointy stuff. If you only pve casually, you wont have any problems with the ranger. Where the class lack is in the pet survavibility vs AOE, he can get killed by the boss in a snap of the finger if you dont call it back in time. So to be king with a ranger, you need to micromanage your pet since he can do a huge portion of your dps. Also the longbow seem a tad useless except in one situation in WvW. What i mean by useless is that the shortbow always outdps the longbow in every situation. People are direly awaiting a fix for it since we all want to wield a longbow, i think shortbow look bad hehe. Last thing that really get a gripe on the ranger’s player is they feel like they have a lack of team utility support. Which i think is not that true, you can help your team if you know what you do, again im talking about regular dungeon , not speed run or super high fractal dungeon. One of the main team buff are spirits but right now, they die really fast so they are a tad annoying/worthless to bring. Last patch gave them more health and more proc chance so well have to see how people like them now, i dont run them.
So dont sweat for the ranger if you are not aiming for speed runs/high fractal dungeon. The rest you can handle it if you know how to play your class well.
im too low for the rune of undead , i only got gems in it , im lvl 40 on my guardian.
Once i transmuted my arborist (sylvari T1) set unto another to keep my stats updated, the gem color which is usually sky (blue) now turn to dye remover. I think the fact that transmuting it break it. I had to put another blue. Its not has pretty but well .. i dont have a choice
Im looking to make a good tank/suppor to play with my wife and take on any champions we encounter, we mostly play pve.
Ive read all the thread and tried the build in the gw2 skill calculator but im not quite sure what you take
“Traits are 0/15/30/20/5 focused on empowering might, altruistic healing, virtue activation, and faster recharge on shouts. That’s what works for me, and i’ve had a lot of success with that setup.”
could you make the build and link it to me?
yes, we should nerf backstab. This doesnt make any sense that i cant run around with full power/precision/cond on my elementalist and get one shot. Thief are too op please nerf!
Ok ok , please read before flaming me . I know there is no formal tank buuuut… Im looking for a class that can handle heavy fire situation or be helpful to the group.
Ive been playing Gw2 since bwe2 , bought up to 8 slots for one of each classes , made most of them up to 50 or around but cant stick with any, not because they aint powerful but because im trying to pick my main and cant find the perfect apple, they all got something really nice and a weakness (which is good too but i don’t know which one i want to deal with )
I played mmo for over 13 years now, always been a tank in every games, main tank for raids etc. I play with my wife which is a staff elementalist kind of jack of all trade style.
Which would be toughest or the one to survive the Armageddon and why?
———————————————————————————————————————-
Here ill describe my feeling over each classes, perhaps someone could help me find my rare gem? I would be forever in your debt that’s for sure
Thief
I thought i was settled on my thief but i just cant like to black powder and auto attack. The steal buff to allies is cool but shes often out of range to receive it and when i go in stealth, she get all the aggro. I love the frantic action of the thief though , always moving and slashing is awesome.
Mesmer
Loved it for the most part but felt i was not enough in melee. I feel too much is emphasized on the phantasms and not enough on myself or if i could trait to be able to dish the biggest portion of the damage by myself. Some of the random factor of getting boons and doing conditions was getting to me a little bit as if i didn’t know if i would get swiftness or not etc.
Elementalist
I played most of my time (up to lvl40) as a D/D since i couldnt enjoy the staff, not enough action , low dps, boring!! I like the frantic. What i didnt like is i felt like all the 4 elements were mostly the same, all about attacks with a subtle difference. I was succesful in pvp with it, was fun but at the same time i found myself switching from fire to earth just because i was on cooldown, not because it was more tanky or i did need the bleed. I wanted to be able to support a bit with water or being an electrical mage (some weird fantasy i know). But ultimately it didnt feel like what i wanted.
Engineer
It still roam my mind, i cant let go of it but at the same time i dont know, the only thing i can say negatively is i lack melee combat and there is nothing epic on this class. What i mean by epic is some kick kitten move. We all got different taste but for exemple , 100b combo on a warrior is pretty epic. Lashing electrical whip or transform in a ball of thunder and just flash away is pretty epic. The engineer is terribly funny but nothing that make me do “Wow! this is baddass, i wanna play this class for this!” Its strong but i just cant hang on to it so far, perhaps im missing a piece
Ranger
Almost never played it to say the truth, one of the class that is lvl 5 -_-’
Necro
Pvp’ed with it, felt like i was only dropping circles and wells. Most of my attack with axe or daggers dont shine , i felt like i was a rogue , i couldnt tell i was doing necro move whatsoever. I was trying to toy with a life steal build to get a tanky necro but didnt manage anything succesful. I like the dark vibe though.
Warrior
Hes 49 , did a full signet build and was just rushing in with my greatsword and just 100b then everything is dead , rinse and repeat for many hours… i got a bit fed up.
Pyrial :
This isn’t an indictment as to your playing ability, but the end where you try to clarify the stealth lag issue is pure and utter bullkitten. There is a huge issue with rendering from stealth trying to disprove it by showing a video of people tunneling other people as proof to the contrary is assinine.
Ive been playing intensively mesmer and thief (because i think they are the more fun) and in WvW the rendering issue for me only happen in big zerg , on small scale fight (95% of his video) i never have rendering issue from stealth. Some people just need to find something else to blame because blaming ourselves for our own lack of skill sometime is impossible. Ive beaten thieves , ive beaten people with thief.
This video was really good and im sorry people try to discredit you out of jealousy when they cant do better by blaming the rendering. I cant wait for Anet to correct the problem so like that theyll see you were doing it right and they were wrong.
I dont say the rendering issue doesnt exist, just in a small scale fight it never happened to me to have that problem, even fighting against two thieves 1v2 on my mesmer.
Like I mentioned before I dont claim to be better than other mesmers in any way but i found a way that work for me in both groups and a way that work in solo. I always encourage experementing thu and theorycrafting, I sometimes spend a whole morning messing with a build attacking a camp with it or seek 1 vs 1 or 1 vs x in sPVP to try it out.
Fast judgment by the traits you put our say me you want a survival build with phantams focus and mantars usage. Personaly I avoided mantras as I often end in longer fights and the rechage time feel like both a dps loss and a action loss. Its personal but I feel as long as I act I force the enemy to react in a smal number fight. If I do ths my x force him to do this or keep him form do x bla bla. A mantra recharching enemy or a long cats enemy is inviting a “in your face” enemy to jump you strat lock you down etc.
The situation I see this build that you link work in would be defensive play in a camp (if we talk wvwvw) in team with a dmg dealer, or mabye in sPvP go defend a point untill you got help. Basicly if you go phantasm you want em to do enought dmg while they up to get maximum out of that cd,n. In a zerg they have a tendence to die fast so less usefull thate. If you go mantra you want fight to be ower before you out of mantras and need to recharge.
Hope this helped and dont by al means take it as any critisism of your build, just think about a build:
1 What do I wana do with it? Dmg or survival?
2 Who do I play with? solo or team?
3 How long do I want a fight to be and what do i do if i get meled alternative ranged nuked. (example a reflection spec handle ranged wery well so can focus on mele defense)Gl on your pvping mate and ty for watch my videos.
I never saw you claim being better then others in your post but i know how some people go on about your video. I dont know what people expect in a pvp video really… Why must a the video contain only top quality tournament oponents? For myself i play in WvW mostly and i dont background check my oponents. Those who attack me , i turn around and kill/get killed them. So when i check up pvp video , i look up for something entertaining , some laughs , some tip and tricks and how people go about their pvp which for most players consist of regular players vs regular players.
So no worries, i love your video and i never saw you write or do something that would inflate your ego , your video are always funny/informative/interesting at least for me (regular pvp-er , not a kitten tournament player).
1 What do I wana do with it? Dmg or survival?
-I would say both but if i have to pick i would go with survival , i would love to solo/duo champions
2 Who do I play with? solo or team?
-Mostly a necro (gonna build herself around deathshroud or life stealing depending which is more tanky
-The other half i spend it with a healing oriented engineer (running on medpack)
-I do some solo too
3 How long do I want a fight to be and what do i do if i get meled alternative ranged nuked. (example a reflection spec handle ranged wery well so can focus on mele defense)
-I dont know enough about the mesmer to clearly say what i want about it, there seem to be so many good combination on this class. Ive been toying with dual sword , greatsword , staff. I love spawning illusions and shattering them , really good looking and it confuse the heck out of my wife when she try to follow me around , make me laugh
Thanks a ton!
hey osicat. Ive watched most of your videos and its really impressing to watch you go around in wvw, i love them .. make the morning more lively in the bus on my phone
I was thinking outside the wall with a build and would like to know your opinion on it. I know it will be crap against zerg but still could be worthwhile in 1v1 or even in dungeon support/dps
http://en.gw2skills.net/editor/?fgAQNAscRl4zionRTlGa9Ih5D9+MDo7cSPMtqXNA;TkAqbM3Iuxej7G5NLLGWMjA
Its a build based around mantras. I got aoe heal on demand, daze on demand , cc breaker on demand and direct damage for final burst on demand + powerful phantasm. What do you think?
