I mistakenly clicked on the “name change” from the gem shop and now I have an unused name change voucher sitting in my bank. This is a completely wasted $10. Because it ha snot been used, is there any way to get the gems refunded back?
Reroll the human to be a norn since you’re likely a xenophibic person.
Humans are pathetic anime tweaks in this game. Less humans, more norn.
How did you know I was xenophibic? that is amazing!
I have a level 41 Norn Guardian and a level 41 Human Warrior
I am thinking of deleting them and switching them to Norn Warrior and Human Guardian. I am kind of into the lore and like to pick classes close to the race that fits it the best.
Here is a brain dump.
Norn Guardian (level 41)
I love Norms but their slow running animation bugs me, this is why I prefer them as Guardians because of all the speed buffs. I love the idea of having a big hammer for a Norn but the Guardian hammer swing is too slow. Their cultural armor matches more with a Warrior.
Norn Warrior (would need to re-roll)
I think Norns look cool using rifles for hunting. Cultural armor looks good too. Plus I could use my hammer for a lot of knockdown abilities.
Human Guardian (would need to re-roll)
This makes sense because I already have a gun using human (engineer) and the lore and cultural armor fit perfectly. Plus I can use a scepter and look not bad. a Norn using a scepter looks wrong. I also prefer the Greatsword animation to the Norn’s and would not use the Guardina hammer.
Human Warrior (level 41)
I would delete this guy to create my new Norn warrior.
Am I foolish to think about deleting two level 41 characters That is 82 levels worth of work!

I dont think Dradiin gets it.
Its that thing that World of Warcraft has. I call it the “it” factor.
In WoW, when you swing your sword, turn the camera, hit another player, it is instant, the sound matches the animation and everything else. There is something about it that meshes perfectly. The map has a nice “click” sound when you open it. All of these little tiny things add up and I truly believe effect your brain. Blizzard did their research.
My main issue is that the camera turns a split second after you turn your character. Go ahead, fire up most MMOs. See how you can move your character around? Watch how he turns. Now log back into GW2. When you walk and turn the camera there is this tiny delay. It may not be noticeable for all, but its there.

I have been playing since its release and head start. Its an awesome game, dont let the vocal minority get you down.
What does that say about people who dislike this game but continue to fester in these forums?
I feel sorry for them.
Anyone else feel that the initial population has died down a bit in starter zones and made things actually more interesting?
The “attackers” are starting to win, and take over areas.
I came across one of my favorite events, the Inquest attacking Opticalum Lab in the starting Asura area only to arrive too late. The Inquest had completely taken over the lab and now had installed a bunch of turrets. I have also noticed more strongholds and towns taken over too.
Cool stuff.
Chris plays Halo 4 and his favorite all time game is Mario 64.
Now I can sleep tonight.
Glad they pointedly brushed off the list of questions the playerbase has been working on for 2 weeks. Thanks for your effort, samuraikitten88. Sorry they were in vain.
that list would take weeks…its like 100 questions long..its naive to expect him to stop, ignore any questions live people are asking just to answer those.
And it has questions the majority of the forum-visiting playerbase has been asking. If they answer those, far fewer people will be posting their questions. And there’s about 50 questions.
I agree. Given the choice I would rather have then just answer these questions and post it on the forums rather then this whole Reddit thing.
You see, Reddit gives them a chance to pick and choose what they answer. Its all politics.
Take a break from the forums every once in awhile. You will find that the game becomes fun again.
If you’re into korean style grinding, then yes, the game has been, is and will be fun.
Calling something a “Korean grinder” is such a cliche it has made it past cliche status into something entirely new. Anyone who calls this game a “Korean grinder” has no clue what one really is.
Why is my fun dependent on having to take a break from a game? Me forgetting about it for awhile and then picking it back up isn’t having fun because it’s a good game… it’s tricking myself until I remember why I put it down to begin with. Sure, I may trick myself into fun, in an “ignorance is bliss” fashion, but I’d rather just have a game I legitimately enjoy booting up.
So what does this say about you? You don’t enjoy the game, but you are on the forum for the game? Sounds a bit sadistic to me.
After logging into World of Warcraft and playing that for a few days here is the issue.
Make the camera as responsive as Wow’s, its that simple. I have two friends who logged on to WoW for a few days, then loaded up GW2 and noticed how when you turn your character the camera is just a split second behind.
I feel sorry for the OP. What he misses is the Skinner Box.
He wants to chase that pellet….forever…
Iv’e always wanted a human warrior. Would it be weird to delete my Guardian and make a human warrior, therefore having two warriors? Maybe the human can be more ranged and the Norn more of a hammer-type?
My Info:
Favorite Class: Warrior
Most Fun Class: Engineer with Warrior right behind
Favorite Race and Lore: Norn
My Style: Always dreamed of a class that can fire away from distance then deliver the pain up close. Warrior can do that and Engineer (sometimes) with Flamethrower can
I have an alt issue, can’t pick my main, so you will pick it for me. Pick not only by class but who sounds cooler and has a good feel, name, etc…
Aldren Jarec – Human Engineer
Markus Tyren – Human Guardian
Tyken Samson – Norn Warrior
this is bull kitten
Using your argument he can’t tell us there is nothing left for him to do and you can’t tell me I am wrong, for feeling the way I feel!
So you think MMOs should have content that just goes on forever?
Yes. If managed properly, they certainly will. I’ve played two MMOs for years each, and I know of other MMOs that have kept players around for years as well.
See this depends on many things. There are people STILL playing Ultima Online after 15 years. They still think there is content. Whether that be roleplaying or whatever they are still playing and paying. They make the most of it.
Of course MMOs have kept players around for years because of the updates and expansions. This game just came out and this guy blew through the content logging in 6 hours a day, then come son here telling us there is nothing to do.
Insanity!
I am blown away by this topic. Since the early 90’s on BBS forums, have I never seen a post as moronic as this one.
In a day and age when you buy a $60 console game that you can beat in 10 hours you are actually complaining that you blew through a game with a whopping 250 hours in three weeks (more content than the content-rick Skyrim) and you are complaining???
I’m not sure what the problem is, he didn’t set the price. The fact that a console game is $60 and only provides 10 hours of entertainment is the issue. A-Net is marketing this game as an MMO, with that comes some expectations, MMOs are meant to provide more then 250 hours worth of entertainment, especially if there is a cash shop and the developer wants you to put money into that cash shop. It is in the best interest of the developer that people find continued reasons to play.
I love how when people claim that they’re getting bored, its THEIR fault? And not the design of the game that is the reason. Not everyone will like the game, not everyone will play the game for years and years………and if they don’t, they don’t need to be told that they’re wrong for feeling that way. You cannot tell someone that how they feel is wrong, because they don’t feel the way you do.

I know that we are all down on Guardian ranged, but has anyone else leveled this way, with Scepter/Torch? My goodness it is fun, and effective. Why?
The slow orbs…
Hear me out. Because they move so slow and mobs are mostly standing there I can get off about 4 or 5 of them before the mob even knows he is being attacked from range. This means by the time he starts moving towards me and gets in range he has been hit at least 4 times with orbs, putting him at half health. Follow that up with Zealot’s Flame, Cleasning Flame, etc. You can use Chains of Light after all 4 orbs hit, and then pound away.
In other words, I take no damage leveling, at all. And the great thing is this is fun for events and groups too. Smite is very powerful tagging groups of mobs for experience.
I wonder if this setup works for dungeons. Anyone tried it?
When Guild Wars 1 was released about 4 months later they introduced a new zone, a new instance, new outpost and new quests. So i would expect a new content to hit gw2 world around that time. I doubt they could prepare that type of content in such a short time!
If GW1 did, what makes you think GW2 can’t?
You missed the part where he said 4 months time…
The overall arc of this topic is a one month update.
This is awesome.
I think Guild Wars 2 should implement something like this as an option in the options menu. Call it “Active Combat UI” with a nice checkbox.
They might add 2-handed axes soon. Guardians can’t use axes.
A big Norm holding a 2-handed axe is worth waiting for.
In other words, Warrior.
Not to mention the cultural armor really fits a warrior better.
This could blow up in their faces soon. At the higher levels, waypoint travel costs too much. I have seen a lot of threads on this.
I love ArenaNet and they are very intelligent with what they do. I really hope they get in front of this before they lose customers.
There, I said it. Norns FTW!
ArenaNet might shoot themselves in the foot. A lot of new people don’t even know you can level in another zone. I have shown at least 3 people how to do this.
I can picture new players strolling into Kessex Hills at level 13 dying a lot and getting discouraged, and uninstall the game….
Nomatter what the opinions are in this thread my response is the one that matters most. The bottom line. Customers.
Stone Dwarf
makes the most sense
Low level mobs can still kill me too, especially during events when I foolishly stick myself out in front of everyone and then take a dozen+ hits in the span of two seconds from the next wave of mobs that came streaming in. That has less to do with level scaling and more to do with playing foolishly.
It has EVERYHTING to do with scaling. What he was trying to say, is that when you scale down, the area is a still a threat to you. Whereas in other online games, if you are level 70 and go into a level 5 area, there is no danger.
Awesome man thanks
I am hearing 2 handed axes will be in soon.
NEED. Norn.Warrior.With.Greataxe
Maybe the issue is that I don’t care for Guardians and love Warriors.
Two Warriors anyone?
If a 2-handed axe is coming, Norn Guardians better be able to use it!

Stop stalking me Teraphas! lol
Engineers need some sort of melee weapon though. It would be great to pound away with a hammer while your turrets are going off!
Some weapons like the Necromancer Staff have a ton of “click twice” mechanics. Click or press the spell button, then click where you want it.
Please give us the option of just clicking it once and having it attack the closest foe. At least give us that option. As of now the only other option is to have it cast automatically under your feet. Kind of useless.

I hope this is not only for Warriors. I think a Ranger and Guardian should use them too!
Love the game but I see some classes could use more weapon choices. Especially with the Warrior being so versatile.
Engineer – Hammers
Guardian – Halberd (new weapon type)
Necromancer/Elementalist – Sword
Thief – Maces (both hands)
Ranger – Rifle
Thoughts?
My slots are mostly used up by my Thief, Enginner and Necromancer.
In game events is what MMOs lack. No one has the stones to do them because they are afraid of on the spot bugs or issues.
I could have had a level 80 by now. I have the worst OCD when it comes to characters. No where else does it effect me.
In this particular case it is between the Warrior and Guardian with Human and Norn as races.
Human Guardian level 12
Norn Warrior level 10
DELETED
Why? I have always wanted a Human Warrior. Always.
Human Warrior level 10
Norn Guardian level 8
DELETED
Why? I assumed that a Norn Guardian does not fit the lore right and missed my Norn Warrior. The Norn Warrior felt right.
Human Guardian 14
Norn Warrior 15
DELETED
Why? This time I got really far. But my issues was that my Warrior simply loves ranged now. And a huge heavy armor wearing Norn from range did not sit well with me. As for my Human Guardian I felt it was too “typical” of a race class combo. I have been playing human paladins forever…
Human Warrior level 7
Norn Guardian level 4
Now I went back to this. So far so good. My plan is to use my rifle with my warrior and dual wield axes. My Guardian will carry big, heavy two handed weapons which fit Norn’s well.
What in the world is wrong with me? Someone, anyone, please tell me to stop doing this. I want to bookmark this thread to come back here if I want to do this again. Tell me that a Norn Guardian works lore-wise.
You are not alone
Had a 12 Guardian, 16 Engineer, and 10 Warrior, 9 Necromancer; deleted all of them
Now I have a 14 Guardian, 15 Warrior, 12 Necromancer, 13 Thief and 7 Engineer
Add all those levels up? 108 levels, good enough for an 80 and a level 28. Remember leveling is linear.
But I don’t mind because it has helped me learn my classes well. Don’t worry about it. Take your time. It’s not a monthly fee. Eventually you will figure it out.
Worst voice actress ever. My goodness.
In the Norn area there is a female actress who is brutal.
In the starting area she is the Bear Shaman battle skill point.
I actually think this is really cool. If you are in range of the swamp you get the message and can hear the portal sounds. It sound “un-worldly” to me, which fits.
Engineers are quite fun. What do you prefer to play? Ranged or melee? Thieves can use two pistols and wear medium so maybe that would work for you?
I guess when developers are working on an MMO, there is little margerine of error.
The less said, the butter
I cannot possibly disagree with the OP any more.
I am 42, been playing MMOs since Ultima Online. I have played it all.
GW2 simply has the best gameplay I’ve ever experienced in an MMO.
I am sorry you could not enjoy it.
Yes +1
I would like this feature.
Please tell me that every single fricken time I have to go to another zone, I don’t have to click on the “OK” button.
This one thing is driving me nuts.
