I don’t understand why so many people playing this game are so quick to go after those of us who want to participate in end game PvE dungeons. Its an almost integral part of the MMO experience. As someone who wants to do both PVP and PVE this game is severely lacking in the latter area.
Level scaling, how does it work?
Just go back and do other dungeons.
Is there anything to do besides completing Hearts and participating in events to gain exp?
Posted by: draeath.8536
Hearts are less for game progression but to give direction to players who are used to theme-park style MMOs (eg WoW style quests)
Seems to happen if you drift too far away from the mobs spawn/patrol points – they “give up” and run back.
Those are underworld portals. Intentional sound effect (and it’s awesome). They make that sound when they spawn, and a similar one when a player kills one. They open up all over the swamp, and you can hear them from a fair distance away.
Thanks for the reports, everyone! This is an issue we’ve been tracking for a while now, and I’ve heard we may have a fix for it in the next few days. If you continue seeing it, please let us know.
Out of curiosity, can you tell us what it’s doing? I’m quite curious what might cause the sound engine to make this particular sound (synthesis guy so I find that kind of thing interesting)
File 0×663c stream 0×0 is corrupt
Raw file 0×0000663c:0×0000663c has CRC 0×99afce65.
This is interesting.
Do you get the same file offset in ArenaNet.log every time it crashes? How about between repairs/reinstalls?
EDIT: actually there are multiple events in the log. Different files each time:
File 0×6649 stream 0×0 is corrupt
Raw file 0×00006649:0×00006649 has CRC 0xdb18e5f5.
Try some disk diagnostics? I remember way back, my motherboard was starting to fail. If I had DMA mode on, occasionally on large file transfers I would get silent data corruption. Turns out my drive controller was going dodgy.
Also, how long / how many passes did you let memtest run? Did you use this one, or the old one?
I ask this as you’d only see the problem in a pass or two if you got “lucky” or if you had severe problems – and at that point Windows would be crash-happy too.
If you’re only getting it with large file operations such as installing/repairing GW2.dat, this seems like a less common failure – eg, that memory address might only act up about 2% of the time.
Last EDIT: heat or EMI could also be a problem too. Machine running hot? Is it on a UPS? Any heavy machines or appliances on the same circuit? Radio operator next door?
(edited by draeath.8536)
Do you get crashes anywhere else?
Might try running this overnight to ensure your memory is healthy.
You can run it. 20 FPS is running.
Minimum Requirements are MINIMUM requirements – that’s supposed to be the point where the game won’t run at all.

I scan the email link VERY carefully before I click, but yes, we do sometimes send things out as The Guild Wars 2 Team. Keep in mind that anyone can put any name in their “sender” profile, so use caution when clicking links in any inbound email.
It would be helpful if mails from ArenaNet didn’t result in a “softfail” with Google’s authentication.
Authentication-Results: mx.google.com; spf=softfail (google.com: domain of transitioning support@guildwars2.com does not designate 216.136.162.124 as permitted sender) smtp.mail=support@guildwars2.com
SPF isn’t a huge deal anyway, but their sysadmins really should get the IP of their SMTP servers included in their SPF record.
My password looks like this ********************* very complex with caps and numbers…
Still won’t save you if you’ve got a keylogger though.
I never got banned, got banned 2 weeks for bad language.

Seems a bit ridiculous to me.
First offense should be a short ban, and it shouldn’t auto-increase until the user has a chance to see the ban.
Eg, if I swear twice and get a 14 day ban, where if I swear once I get a 3 day? How does that make sense?
Now, if you swear and get your 3 day, come back and swear again – NOW is when you slap the 14 day on them.
This problem is NOT a GW2 problem but a hardware problem. I’m having the same issue (with my SB X-Fi Titanium Fatal1ty Champion) and it’s cause by magnetic interference from other devices/cards in your PC. If you ‘listen carefully’ to this noise, you’ll hear difference when you have more HDD and/or GPU usage.
WRONG. This is NOT what he describes.
What we are experiencing is a sound cut-out, with a simple tone with an amplitude LFO of about 2 seconds cycle time. Others have reported it with onboard sound cards, as well as dedicated cards (and not just ones made by Creative)
There’s already a thread about this:

:)
Seems like an aweful lot of panic you’ve got there, for a game that just came out.
I just checked the security tab on my account and it shows someone logged into my account from florida 45 minutes ago and im in new york! I dont get how my account can be hacked, i have not been to any websites or have any viruses on my computer so how? I hope i dont find out i’m banned now when i get home like so many other ppl…
Do you have a stupid password? Do you use the same password in other sites?
They could have gotten the password from breaking into one of those other sites, or just got lucky and guessed. Get your system(s) checked for trojans, keyloggers etc. They could have “watched” you type it.
Change your password NOW, preferably from a different computer. Figure out what happened later. Don’t type the new password on your current computer until you verify it’s clean.
Since it seems empty, but it’s visible…
I’ll step up and ask. Are we allowed to post here yet?
English for me. Strange. MAXMIND Geo-IP database BS again? :P
The official wiki uses it:
http://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/Asura
“which asuran college they studied at”
“The asuran home instance…”
Yea, well, they also don’t capitalize the proper noun as they should, so we can’t really rely on that page for stylistic cannon.
A sensible request, but the forums are only open for bugs and technical problems currently. This is neither.
Be patient and wait for them to be happy with forum performance (they will then open the forums fully).
Installation Issue: Unable to open archive file, local.dat

It’s not part of the game itself but the launcher. When you first run it it downloads the file, so it may have gotten messed up as VOLKON states.
Which Windows version do you have? Or you could just do a filesystem search for a local.dat – there shouldn’t be too many of these but make sure it’s not for something else prior to removing it
Even still I’d recommend renaming it first, just in case it IS for something else (local.dat is a pretty generic filename)

Keeping in mind all the time and bandwidth you’ll waste doing that.

There’s a certain amount of fragmentation that can happen within the .dat file. If you’ve played all of the beta weekends, you’ve probably updated most of the individual files inside of Gw2.dat many times as we’ve made changes to those files.
The data stored on the DVDs was downloaded internally from scratch, so it’s free of fragmentation (and thus is smaller). At this time we do not have any mechanism for defragmenting Gw2.dat.
What about the command line argument to copy files from one dat to another (or new) dat? Just finish implementing that and you can do this. Copy from one to the other, and replace the old with the new.
Bump. Every suite of skills should have one set to auto by default, if it intended to be used continually.
The queue is more of a lottery system then an actual queue. Its absolutely horrendous that this has not recieved the attention it deserves. For many of us WvW is not only our end-game but its everything in between. Wv3 is what will keep me in GW2 long after everything else and to see it cast to the side like this is a shame.
Just so all of you are aware AN has actually already take an official stance on this via twitter.
http://img571.imageshack.us/img571/1432/queuequeue.jpgIt does not look like they seem to think this is an issue at all. Ha Queue Wars 2 all the way
I don’t see anything of note, here. Doesn’t look official at all.
I’m in the US, and play on Piken Square. Seems the last few nights around 10PM GMT-4, I get some pretty terrible lag spikes. Other times of day are fine.
My typical ping to European servers is 80ms to 120ms, though there’s no way to see this in GW2 so I can’t know if I’m having latency problems or what.
You don’t hear Sylvarian or Charrian, so why Asuran?
Because English is strange and inconsistent, and certain endings don’t “need” the suffix?
I’m no English major. I’m just saying that it sounds correct.
Ok draeth, but Asura is a race not a nationality.
What’s your point? We’re all human. Note the -n suffix as well. That suffix is one of the ways we indicate inclusion in English. English came about long before the idea of other sentient species
Also, it’s draeath, not draeth
Where to post it then? This is a suport ? and i can not by any game online beacuse it’s sold out
Again, you can still buy it from retailers that carry it.
Not here. They have not opened the general forums yet.
Don’t res people for reward. Res people because it’s the nice thing to do, and it’s called being a team player.
It would be nice to have a reward, but that shouldn’t be your reason for doing it.
Seems the n suffix is a foreshortening of “of Asura”
Similar to American, European, and Russian.
Could be bad ram too. If you’re certain it’s not heat, run this overnight when you go to bed and see if you have any errors (or got a reboot/crash… which indicate it failed, by the way :P)
Since Creaky didn’t say it: this is the Tech Support forum. There’s no general forums yet, your question is out of place.
Hi I’m running on:
CPU- Core 2 Duo 2GHz
GPU: GeForce 9600M GS
RAM: 4GB
OS: Windows 7 64bitIt would be good to start from a fact that before yesterday GW2 was running on my laptop around 9-13FPS while exploring. During bigger events frame rate could drop to even to 1 FPS. During that time I had sugested newest beta drivers for my GPU. I had enough of it and decided to overclock my GPU a little. So I downloaded custom DOX drivers and used Rivatuner to overclock my GPU. Frame rate jumped from9-13 to around 22-30 FPS. While starting a game it can even be above 40FPS for 1-2 minutes. Im not quite sure even if it was because of overclocking my GPU or because of yesterday update. However there was a little issue with that. After playing for a few minutes frame rate was droping again to around 15FPS. The only solution was to minimize game client for half a minute. I had this same problem before overclocking. Oh and one more thing. after todays patch I lost again few FPS and it has frame drops even faster (it shouldn’t be because of overclocking since temperature on my GPU is from 50-65C)
Couldn’t be overclocking – for a boost like that your card would have caught fire in minutes.
Gotta be the version of the drivers or perhaps a feature/setting tweak?

That’s weird. Do you have UAC enabled? Can you try running the installer as administrator or temporarily disabling UAC to see if that helps?
Seems to be software-side mixing prior to hitting the audio device then. Given it’s a soft tone with an LFO amplitude I’m wondering if there’s a code error with an effect?
Do you have a real sound card or are you using one of those Realtek onboard ones?
Try disabling all the enhancements you can. Might be it’s not supporting some processing features it’s telling Windows that it does.

Are you installing into Program Files? If so, disable UAC or you’ve got to explicitly choose to Run As Administrator.
I recommend you install into, for example. c:\games instead, or explicitly go give your user full permissions to the directory you are installing into if you’ve got Pro or higher Windows. (security options are absent in Home)
+1.
People shouldn’t be cussing around in public. Keep a lid on it. Cuss at your friends in teamspeak. Leave /m, /s, and /t clean.

This happens to me occasionally too. Generally it will happen when there is an obscene amount of things going on in my vicinity and seems to only trigger when my framerate is extremely low. My Audio Quality setting is at full.
Windows 7 64-bit, SB Live Audigy 2 ZS. I have a few other devices too, but they are not my defaults in the Windows audio system. I have exclusive mode enabled.

Model rigging bugs. For skeletal animation / kinematics and such.
I have an AMD Phenom II X4 (4x 3.0ghz), 4gb RAM, Nvidia 460 GTX. I don’t get much more than you do on minimal settings (~ 40 to 50 FPS maximum) however, I can crank everything up to the fullest (including supersampling) and it only drops to about 25 to 30.
FPS characteristics of this game don’t behave as I’ve become accustom to with other modern games.
