Guys… The point is not if it’s EVEN POSSIBLE to win 1v1 or teamfight with thief, the point is that there’s ALWAYS a better class to pick in your team over thief for any kind of job.
You want to win 1v1’s? Go scrapper.
You want to get easy 1v2 kills? Get rev
You want crazy teamfight presence? Get necro

That’s why nobody wants to see thieves in their competitive lineups, and that is a problem in my opinion.Your OP was about thief not being able to teamfight, but now you’re saying it’s everything else. Kinda contradicting yourself.
And no, there is not a class better than thief for mobility, decapping, +1ing, and bursting low targets. Thief can also 1v1, teamfight, and even hold points to extents. (All of this can even be found in one build)
The statement that there is always a better class for any kind of job a thief does is simply incorrect. There are classes that are better for some things, worse for others. That’s how classes work. They have strengths and weaknesses.
I don’t contradict myself, all I wanted is them give thief at least some utility in teamfights over being non-existant there to make this class at least worth picking, but I guess community is ok with never seeing this class in competitive…

Heck, even for quick decaps staff+bow ranger is far superior for that thanks to their super annoying knockback>root combo and great mobility.
And the list goes on.

Sigh So many casuals swarmed the topic already…
What I said is that thief is un-viable in competitive play, it’s simply the weakest class in the game at the moment, every team captain knows it.
Rly, why would u pick thief in your team if u can get a revenant that does same thing as thief (making offnode fights 1v2 with easy kills) and does it even better than thief thanks to revealed skill YET revenant has crazy teamfight presense and rocks 1v1 against many classes (except necroses/mesmers condi meta users)
For people who don’t see a picture from both thief and non-thief perspective plz don’t respond to this. Because u don’t get how useless he actually is and you notice them only when they finish you off thanks to you letting yourself get below 50% hp without paying attention to enemy rotations.
So far thief is:
Can’t 1v1
Can’t teamfight
Can’t hold
Can run around waiting for enemy to get low but revenant can do the same yet rev can do all what thief can’t
Can decap
That decap thing is easily solved by putting solo engies/rangers/eles/mesmers on node where they will simply chill and watch and laugh at thief running around while he’s being useless.
Oh and another way to make thief viable in teamfights… Give Unload skill an unblockable and piercing tags. Pet/reflect spam just makes it beyond worthless, even after recent buffs, which didn’t change anything pretty much.

It’s really pretty simple, all you need to do is move evasion part on staff Vault staff skill from the beginning to end of animation, because currently with all that condi spam you just end up being blinded/feared/stunned/knocked right before you land EVERY TIME in teamfight, making you deal pretty much 0 dmg on every vault.
Honestly, thief is still like the worst class in game, no reason ever to pick thief in your team as a captain over a revenant. Rev got same mobility yet he also got crazy teamfight presense…
Wasn’t daredevil supposed to give thieves exactly that? At least some teamfight presence?

Pretty much they are putting people with loss streaks with other people with loss streaks, same for people with win streaks with other win streakers.
I’ve tested it by asking teammates/enemies in almost every match.
End result of this?
90% of matches are un-fun stomps that suck interest out of those players to even play such pre-determined kitten pvp, which is also horribly imbalanced mechanics-wise (lol at balance team after 5 years of lazy-kitten balancing, eles ftwin is a dogma of that team) and also keeps imprisoned you in a tiny instance called mists of boredom.
What’s the point of trying playing such pvp really? None aside from ugly backpack, that’s why nobody bothers playing this trash pvp after they are done reaching legend.

Clueless people in charge of it.
They don’t have enough competence to understand what is broken and what is not, simple as that.
Getting carried by friends doesn’t count, obviously I was talking about solo queue.

If you’ll pay attention on who got legendary rank atm, ALL of them are either necro or ele, other classes in pvp exist just as decoration, but actually this game has only 2 useful classes – boon corrupting necro and healer ele.
Why Aviator one’s are back for second time already, and we haven’t seen Sport Sunglasses even once in 4 years?

It’s the only class that whole game revolves around atm.
It’s like…
Enemy/your team has ele = ele team wins 95% of time, even in legend tier.
No other class skews match balance so much, rotations dont matter cos ele will just sit in mid whole game and give his team free points by doing this, not even mentioning that conquest is not the only mode we have. In stronghold ele team vs no ele team is 100% victory to ele team.
No class should be so kitten important that it’s nearly impossible to win without it, it just clearly shows how imbalanced eles are at the moment.
And honestly stop protecting eles imbalanced nature, everyone and their mother who plays pvp knows that they are an imbalanced class.
Godmode class that everyone seems to be ok with in it’s immortal healer state for some reason

Ele is immortal when faced against physical dmg class or team though…
It’s really the main reason why your queues take ages and very few people bother waiting for hours for a single game to actually happen in instance where you have nothing to do.
Yeah they have explained a few times, that queuing out side of HoTM, is a pain. they would have to find a way to take you out of a queue and put you back in while a map is loading so you don’t miss a queue pop and end up with dishonoured, and they have no idea how they would do this. The said they also need people to know that they have different builds and skill set up in PvP. That gear is not really a factor, that all your stats are done for you.so making people go to HoTM will make them notice this as soon as they first go there.
I’m not saying it’s ideal, but it is what it is. I too would like to see things added to HoTM, something like a JP maybe some mini games like the challenges that are in HoT.
Both are bs problems rly.
First of all, if person is queued and it happens during his load time it should automatically accept(since decision to queue was already made) or prolong the wait time if person is still loading(more work for devs but more fair i guess)
Loading gear is not a problem because game already loads mists and then pvp map if you leave during match, so there’s no problem of loaidng gear+build.

The problem is, some classes just never die to physical dmg, so condi is the only way to kill them, otherwise they just run around god-moding.

Unarmed/Two handed Axe if devs are not lazy
Spear/Trident/Speargun on earth if they are lazy
The rest of choices doesn’t matter really.

Works differently than all other boon steals in the game, should work like all other steals obviously.
Differences:
Does not steal “stacks” of the boons; e.g. the enemy has 15 stacks of Might, your character is only going to receive 1 stack of might (unknown which individual might application/duration takes priority); if the enemy is using a boon that stacks duration, such as Protection, and has both a 3s and a 4s application of it (showing as 7 seconds total), your character will only steal the 3s or the 4s application of the boon (unknown which application/duration takes priority), not the full 7s. The target, however, WILL lose all stacks of that duration stacking boon, regardless of which specific stack your character receives.
1. Death Blossom on dagger/dagger thief.
2. Shield Bash on warrior.
Those skills travel a very tiny distance if affected by slows.

Lost one of bounces during some patch, it was supposed to benefit from a trait that was removed that made it bounce 4 times.
And on the side note, to be honest that weapon needs a mobility skill badly…

Like… You use shield stance>retaliation procs>3 seconds of retaliation is wasted… lol…
I honestly don’t know what else to say about this “awesomely” designed trait.
I just wonder what was in the mind of a dev that created this trait in that moment…
And it’s still not fixed…
To be honest an addition of this race is the only thing that will spark my interest in gw2 again…
As a very old mmo player I honestly got beyond tired of playing pink skinned apes in every single game lately, so some variety would’ve been really nice in this aspect. But… Seems like anet thinks otherwise cos they only reduce customization instead of creating more of it (outfits for example… yuck)

All those moments when stealth gets instantly removed by your own projectiles in mid flight?
It’s like totally annoying when you get aoe stealthed by your allies and it instantly breaks 0.5 sec later because of your projectiles that didn’t finish flying, or with all those 25% health threshhold procs. It’s super easy to get to 25% in less than 1 second so there are plently of ocassions when your will die because you get that revealed on you when you didn’t want it just because somebody managed to bring you low while you had projectiles mid flight…
Please look into this problem, cos it’s one of those that makes your game look unprofessional and silly, as if it’s still in beta.

Tengu playable class? plz. Centaur: Its a man, built like a horse from the waist down. You couldnt handle that. But you could be a bird.
Obviously there are no rules about how i should behave when i quit playing a game. Nothing prevents me from checking on how it’s getting developed once in 6-12 months and probably reconsidering playing it again if something sparks my interest. Nothing in the new expansion did it for me, so all i do is write my opinion on this forum and leave again.
And no, i obviously don’t love this game, i just waste time on it to do exactly that, to waste time and not think about our meaningless existence in the real world. And that’s also a reason i waste time commenting on this forum in between watching a movie.
Obviously whining is not pointless because it shows developers that they’ve missed some widely requested features in this expansion so they lost some customers and money income from them.
And well, centaurs are just plain boring. Top half is your typical human and bottom half is an ugly and once again boring real life animal. Yawn. Tengu are just much more interesting and cool in my opinion.

Clipping can be solved by PLAYERS THEMSELVES.
And yes, i would prefer to use those super easy to get transmutation charges of course just to avoid looking like a clown in their preset outfits.
It’s a kittening FAIL to sell us complete outfits isntead of sets that we can mix and match ourselves… The moment i saw that new lich armor i already wanted to buy but then i realized it was yet another outfit… NO WAY i will buy something like that and look like a clone number 412123 while wearing it, simply NO WAY.
We want to decide ourselves on how to use each armor piece, not wear complete sets.
Enjoy losing your money that you could’ve gotten on LOTS of customers anet.

Definitely Runes of Traveller to increase amount of roaming builds(yes it’s kitten annoying being a roamer in your game considering that so few classes have access to perma swiftness/25% ms so you walk around like a snail around the map.
Next would be nerfed Runes of Perplexity again to increase build diversity, a build solely based on interrupts is kitten fun and challenging to play, requires precise timing and game understanding. But yeah, those runes need reduced amount of stacks on interrupt+fixed 30% duration of confusion too btw.
More importantly i want you to fix all those bugs with Add lifesteal proc on heal runes(only Vampirism available in spvp atm but there are others i forgot the name of*) If you take only 4 of those, it’s already a kitten good boost to surviviability of any build that wants to be somewhat tankier and still be a damage dealing build(jack of all trades builds will benefit from this greatly)
And kitten … add more runes with Movement Speed as a bonus please! Roaming is the hardest thing to do in your game atm considering that so few classes can get an easy movespeed boost. Really it would still be a meaningful choice between permaswiftness from traits and 25% from runes, just add more of those types please.
Oh and definitely we need all stat combinations available in PVE for amulets (that means Celestial amulet should be buffed to PVE stats too, cos now there’s absolutely no reason to pick it up in sPvP form)

So… can we expect Power Shoes becoming an alternative to mandatory Speedy Kits and moved to Adept tier to provide us a meaningful choice? (yes i know u will make it permanent speed boost, but hey, speedy kits are also permanent!)

If you just said high end tournie do not use Engis then this is obv a troll post. So I can agree with everyone else, L2p.
Definitely unsuccessful bad teams use them. Winning one’s don’t. Everyone else figured out already that necromancer>>>eveyrthing an engi can offer. Oh and if you speak about that silly static discharge build just go s/d thief or warrior. The only map where an engi can do anything useful is that 2 bosses one where alot of walls on side points so he can kite around them and spam bomb kit in the process so that people don’t just roll over him using ranged attacks as it happens on all other maps.
How are engis different than the downed states of necros, guardians, warriors? They could all be blinded/stability stomped.
Engis have the pull and the blowout which is extremely strong if not blinded.
The only downed state that needs fixing is a ranger’s because of the 900r AOE interupt and lick wounds.
Guardians get instant HUGE AOE knock+they are super tanky+can heal themselves to boot removing 3 weaknesses i pointed out. engineer got only 1 worthless single target pull.
Necros can heal themselves nonstop with 1 giving them very tanky downed state+2-3 sec fear is by far more superior to 1 sec knock that PULLS ENEMY TO YOU+it’s channeled multihit and that counters blinds in some cases. Not even mentioning that fear can’t be obstructed and doesn’t need target facing. Really necros even in downed state can kill some classes 1v1 from FULL HP.
Warriors 2 is balanced by fact that his 3 is nearly imbalanced. new life for 15 sec that has 50% chance to rally you(100% with trait) if you kill/stomp. It’s is everything you can wish for as any class.Guardian downstate is weak. Some classes have weak downstates I would assume it is by design but take this biased bs elsewhere. Guardians, just like engineers, are an easy stomp.
Following your logic engineer should be a top tier 1 class that is present in every tourney team then? Like a guardian, right? Yet nobody uses an engineer in their lineups (speaking only of successful teams ofcourse)
