I’ll rephrase it for you so you could see how you sounded in any normal persons eyes:

“Engi soloed 4 people once he was downed and didn’t get healed or get help from a team even once, true story, engi down state OP!!1!one!!eleven!!!”

Anyway, the problem with Ele wasn’t downed state reversal that made them imba, it was all class’s strengths combined, engi won’t get even close to that thanks to horrible implementation of kits mechanics that makes us waste utility slots just to be playable.

Necro’s downed state is stronger considering my previously listed reasons, and necro is a known top tier class that is present in every single good team, simple as that.

How are engis different than the downed states of necros, guardians, warriors? They could all be blinded/stability stomped.

Engis have the pull and the blowout which is extremely strong if not blinded.

The only downed state that needs fixing is a ranger’s because of the 900r AOE interupt and lick wounds.

Guardians get instant HUGE AOE knock+they are super tanky+can heal themselves to boot removing 3 weaknesses i pointed out. engineer got only 1 worthless single target pull.
Necros can heal themselves nonstop with 1 giving them very tanky downed state+2-3 sec fear is by far more superior to 1 sec knock that PULLS ENEMY TO YOU+it’s channeled multihit and that counters blinds in some cases. Not even mentioning that fear can’t be obstructed and doesn’t need target facing. Really necros even in downed state can kill some classes 1v1 from FULL HP.
Warriors 2 is balanced by fact that his 3 is nearly imbalanced. new life for 15 sec that has 50% chance to rally you(100% with trait) if you kill/stomp. It’s is everything you can wish for as any class.

Guardian downstate is weak. Some classes have weak downstates I would assume it is by design but take this biased bs elsewhere. Guardians, just like engineers, are an easy stomp.

Following your logic engineer should be a top tier 1 class that is present in every tourney team then? Like a guardian, right? Yet nobody uses an engineer in their lineups (speaking only of successful teams ofcourse)

Ta-da! A class that is weak also gets the weakest downstate, that’s a good balance right there, yeah?

Really, you can go afk once you’re downed because there’s absolutely nothing you can do with those useless downed skills an engineer has.

Just look at amount of counters this downed state got:
Blind, stability, obstructed by other units, stealth, multiple people stomping at once, teleports, dpsing the body(some classes can handle it well), invulnerability.

Wtf? Or you really intended to have a class without a downed state or what? Yes, without, because everyone has at least 2 of those counters so there’s NO WAY to prevent a stomp as an engineer.

Initiative changes
It’s counter productive, you nerf all ini traits but at the same time you buff base regen, but the thing is, no thief can avoid putting points into Crits if they want to have ANY damage at all in current meta. And guess what, both ini traits in crits got nerfed. There’s still no point in using any other spec tree, cos damage just blows then. So yeah, ini change is meaningless for all spvp thieves.

Too often i see steals being lost instantly after being applied due to random factors like projectile still being in air and hitting your target the moment you get random proc on you (like last refuge on thief, or engis stealth on immobilize and so on). Same goes when somebody blasts smoke field near you, nobody gets stealth at all, it’s lost instantly due to damage of blast itself. It adds random uncontrollable element to your supposedly competitive game because some builds are heavily realiant on stealth to do anything.

So, how do we fix it? I’d say you should add 0.75-1s UNBREAKABLE stealth on each application, which should disable all skill usage though, to avoid stuff like thief going stealth>instant backstab>stealth not lost scenario. You can however disable only stealth abilities of thief for that duration, i guess it would work too, but that’s debatable.

Thing is though, that 0.75-1s unbreakable stealth is a MUST in game with such unpredictable and borked stealth mechanic.

It’s kinda impossible to play an engineer without a kit, meanng we always have -2 utility slots minimum which makes us one of easiest classes to focus down in a big fight. Not even mentioning that once we’re downed there’s NOTHING you can do cos we have worthless downed abilities.

Incendiary powder nerf=ALL engi builds hurt with that, whole class nerfed pretty much.

Speedy kits 10 sec cd=it only makes it worse vs boon removals not fixing the problem of us having to spam kits nonstop at all. It should be like 5 sec cd 10 sec duration to avoid spam.

Accelerant packed turrets and exploit weakness=both useless, turrets explosion is a measly 120 range which is lower than melle 130 range(rofl) and exploit weakness is a friggin cripple for 5 sec on a single target with 15 icd xD same with aegis, it’s just -1 hit, which is bleh.

At least add something useful in adept explosives, like forceful explosives improving grenade aoe or something.

Transmute nerf=huge hit on ALl engi builds survival once again, the class that has a total of 1 condi cleanse(in heal) without being an HGH.

Buffs to unviable bomb heal or turret specs change nothing as it’s too easy to counter both by avoiding melle or just killing turrets by aoe spam.

Atually super funny to see all engi nerfs considering NO competitive team used an engi in their roster for a very long time now.

Well, no offence but nerfing engineer was utterly stupid move considering nobody uses them in competitive play AT ALL. And you only keep nerfing engi, it’s like ????????????????????? at first, and then you realize that stupid changes come only from stupid people. no offence ofcourse but it’s just truth.

1.Speaking of low hp traits and runes… can you please make them proc when you REACH hp threshold, and not get hit while being under it? It just… makes sense really to make them work that way, considering that any random power build hit can 1 shot u from up to 50% hp, making your low hp traits NEVER proc….
2.Only i think that all stun breaks should give you 1 second of stability? Most of the time it doesn’t matter if you clicked it or not, because right in the next moment you get stunned again, so, may be add 1 sec buff on them to make it worth picking them in your builds at all?
3.And another UI thing… devs, do you even realize that melle autoattacks go off only at 100 range, while melle range in your game is actually 130? So unless we spam 1 like monkeys in a fight, we lose alot of potential damage while melleing. Fix that too please.
4.4 sec revealed in sPvP compared to 3 seconds in WvW… make up your mind already mb? Normalize them to either 3 or 4 seconds BOTH. It’s pretty funny considering that stealth is severly underpowered and ignored in sPvP but it gets punished more there, compared to WvW.
5.Shadow step on thief should have 0.5 sec cooldown on first use to avoid accedential double clicking and returning to your first position. Simple as that.
(That’s especially annoying considering amount of lag happening in your game lately)

They should make gadgets a form of signet.

I would say make 3 or 4 seconds in both spvp and wvw, different times of revealed in the most annoying fact.

But yeah, anyway nobody bothers with stealth in spvp now, considering how useless it is.

1. Static discharge targetting. Make it so it ALWAYS flies to your target no matter utility skill that was used, but if no target is selected it should fly to your CURSOR location, not center of your screen.
2.Grenade kit lacks autocast. Really, add it already, if anything we can just turn it off if smb doesn’t like it, you know? For people who are sick of spamming 1 till their hands hurt it’s really helpful.
3.Blunderbuss max damage range is LOWER than melle range.
4.Underwater Elixir S toolbelt still randomly screws you up by giving stability.

6.Forceful explosives does NOT affect mine field, but it was stated in patch notes that it should.
7.Low hp traits don’t proc too kitten often.
8.Rifled turret barrels doesn’t increase dmg or range of some turrets.
9.Blowtorch pistol skill hits only 3 targets.(useless vs mass pet spam currently going on)

I have to ask a question…

As an engi, I always use protection injection, because I’m afraid of bursts and I feel like any class (warrior obviously included) that wants to burst me down will try to disable me first.

Why I see a lot of people running backpack regenerator? I feel like engis without stunbreaker might be weak to stun.

Said that, I used to play stun warrior, especially before the buff. It has always been extremely strong against necros and engis. Maybe too strong, while at first it was UP in other situations.

Regenerator? To counter retaliation, you would understand it if you ever played grenade engi and tried to use them in a team fight. WIthout it you will die in seconds.

And yeah, i also run protection injection lately, just to cover lack of stun breaks engis have considering all that stun/fear spam that’s going on now.

Hahah, i had similar thing happen to me lately.
Basicly there was 1 ranger full glass cannon power build i guess, he basicly came on point i was capping, threw a total of >1< skill(that axe pull thingy) it critted and guess what? 12k damage+condi stack that literally 1 shotted my thief with 30 in shadow arts(300 extra toughness). Yeah, i was downed in 1 second by a 900 range single attack.
That’s how balanced and fun gw2 is, where you don’t need more than 1 button press to kill people.

1. Turn on fast-cast ground targeting so you don’t have to re-select your skill after clicking just out of range.

About engineers:
1. Confirmed options for continuous ground targeting coming in 6 days.

1. Actually i have it on, and that’s why i have to spam skills nonstop to make them work at max range. really, you ALWAYS want to use your rocket jump or grenades at max range, but you always have to waste time clicking those skills many times before you finally finda point at the screen that is a max range for this skill.

E1.It’s still clicking, be that holding button or spamming it, still an unneeded hassle for players. Why i’m forced to even click grenades when this game has autocast for everything else? I want them to work be spammed all the time, no matter what. After all, if you don’t like it JUST TURN OFF AUTOCAST ON IT, nobody forces you to use it, what’s the problem with that really?
E2. It’s not perma swiftness i complain about, it’s bad implementation of game mechanics that i complain about. Nothing is as annoying as spamming same 2 buttons 24/7 while you’re playing the game. Yes, EVERY 5 seconds while you play it, just imagine amount of unnecessary clicks you have to do every day.

I want to use my skills with a thought behind each action, choose what i want to press for each situation, and not just brainlessly spam 111111 or 22222 whole game, that doesn’t lead to fun pvp, it only leads to boredom, annoyance and disappointment with the game.

Hey, i have 1 major gripe about your game… Really, when you play Guild Wars 2 it feels like you’re fighting against UI and some annoying game mechanics and not other players. I would really like things that i’ll note further to be considered when you will continue making changes to your game in future patches.

List of things:
1. Casting aoe skills outside of max range. Really, this one is huge… it’s sooo annoying to spam your rocket jump engineer skill, only to get it cancelled again and again because you clicked slightly outside of max range, which may lead to your death, considering that even 0.5 second delay means death in pvp.
2. Max camera distance. Yeah, if you play big character, all you usually see on your screen is his huge back. I want max camera distance increased at least a little bit, it’s really kitten impossible to play big characters in your game.
3. Smoke field blast finishers… This is one of reasons you never see squishy stealth builds melle in team vs team fights, even if they are tanky enough for it. Really, nothing is as frustrating as recieving random revealed debuff because someone blasted in your smoke field, which lead to your death. Worst part about it that you just CAN’T EVEN GET STEALTH like that, all you get for blasting smoke field is revealed, which screws up any class and build that relies on stealth(mesmers/thiefs/some engi builds, etc)
4. All huge cooldown on low hp traits have no visuals indicating their cooldowns. Really, how i’m even supposed to tell if i have my elixir s on cooldown or not when i engage in fight? Are we supercomputers that count 90 seconds on each proc or what? Add buff timers to all such traits if you even want to think about your game being competitive.

Class specific problems now:
Engineer(aka the most buggy profession, which lead to it being the weakest and the most ignored)
1. Engineer grenade kit autocast… Who even though about removing autocast from it? Do you want all your players to have a tunnel syndrome and hate you forever just for playing your game or what? Give us autocast on our ONLY viable dps kit already kitten …
2. Engineer speedy kits trait. Yet another example of horrible, annoying and boring mechanics that nobody likes. It’s not fun to click your utilities every 5 seconds whole time. It’s ANNOYING, nothing else. And what you get? Perma swiftness… zzz, why you can’t just increase it’s duration to like 30 seconds or something? It’s the same effect if you click it every 5 seconds anyway, still perma swiftness, but just much less annoyance with your game and less pain in fingers after that.
3. Static discharge with most of toolkit skills… and it flies in the way where your screen is centered… Really? Who keeps his camera like that in a 3rd person game without a 1st person mode? Change it please! It always should fly in direction of your currently targeted player, or at least a cursor, if no target is selected.
4. Rocket boots… Sometimes they bug out and turn your character backwards or to the side during roll animation, nullifying all distance you covered in first seconds. Really, it’s the most underpowered blink type skill of all classes, and it’s the buggiest one to boot! I really have no idea why this happens, but i assume it has something to do with ground elevation or may be nearby walls, you guys have to figure it out. I won’t even mention that it usually gets cancelled by random roots/slows/stuns at the start, making it a worthless utility(adding evade on it could help with that problem)
Thief
1.Last refuge. Really, nobody likes that proc that randomly screws you up. You were fighting but then someone randomly did a big hit on you, so it procced in the middle of your attack animation and now you have a free sign called kill me on you for 4 seconds? Yeah that’s an awesome game design right there, definitely makes it more fun.
2.Expeditious dodger. Yet another annoying trait, you’re basicly forced to spam your dodge button to have swiftness up all the time, and even if you don’t even opt for perma swiftness, it screws you up by making it unpredictable when you have enough range on your heartseeker to reach your target or not. But yeah, it’s just yet another spam this button whole time while you play trait. Those types of traits you have to avoid in any mmo.

Other classes… well i play only warrior aside from those 2, and warriors seem fine in that aspect. But yeah, i can’t tell what other annoying things other classes have, but i’ll add more here if other forumites will mention them in this thread.

So, this is it for now, if you guys really want to improve your game you will listen. It will make your game more competitive by removing random and unpredictable procs aspect from your pvp, and improving UI by making it something that actually helps players, instead of something that you have to fight against each time you log in, making you hate yourself for doing it.

Simple, devs don’t give a kitten about players. They would definitely prefer to put no autocast or introduce stupid mechanics like Speedy Kits or no aoe cast if you click slightly outside of attack range, just to make people’s hands hurt instead of trying to find a solution on how to make those mechanics fun and not a hassle for anyone.

You will kill yourself quicker than any of enemies will die. Just look at death recap after that xD

Edit: Also wanted to comment on thiefs… Don’t you guys feel like venoms are luckluster by themselves, not even considering sharing aura? Really, who would bother with 3 seconds chill on hits that can be blocked/absorbed/dodged making them go to waste? And that’s all single target and on friggin 45sec cd… Not even meantioning that immobilize venom doesn’t stack with itself, making it only 2 seconds immobilize in all cases. Poison? We have enough of poison applicators. That leaves only with that tiny duration torment which is weaker version of bleed, unless you’re fighting a newbie that can’t stand still for couple of seconds when you hit him with it. Not even mentioning it’s just a slightly buffed version of 2 bleed stacks… meh.

Also traps… Anyone uses them? Like at all… I NEVER saw anyone use traps, such tiny aoe on them makes you always ignore them… imo they should be circular like nerco’s marks.

And last but not least…NECROMANCER…. is class that has crazy unmigitatable aoe huge range dmg(condi spam), alot of tanking tools(many conditions help u with that too) and is basicly immune to conditions himself supposed to have a spammable 4 seconds per application disable that does around 7k damage? Really, 4 seconds once, then 4 seconds again and you lost all your hp JUST to that fear damage, no other condis involved. just. fear. alone… and that a 8 seconds stun… and it can make you fall from huge heigh making it an insta-gib… Do you guys really think it’s balanced in any way or form? It’s really first game i saw where a class that has no downsides at all also got such crazy form of disable…

I do hope you’ll adress some other engineer problems in FUTURE too, like Blunderbuss being lower than melle range, grenade kit being the ONLY viable dps kit and retaliation boon being overpowered vs anything that does more than 1 tick of damage (grenade kit and flamethrower come to mind) Really, you would be laughing if you’ll play engineer with those 2 things and try to use them in a teamfight. You will kill yourself quicker than any of enemies will die. Just look at death recap after that xD

… it’s plethora of bugs with Charr was the main thing that made this race unpopular? Really, i would’ve definitely made such character if not flying shoulders and a very noticable dual wield weapon size difference that makes you look kittenED… and really, nobody wants to look kittened in a game where you’re supposed to look cool, so everyone just ignores that race… But how to explain that to devs? It’s just logical that if bugs will be fixed number of players using this race will increase…
Same thing with engineer too, so many bugs with that class which leads to only 2 builds being playable…

It’s pretty much the most broken mechanic in game right now. It should have a 1 second cooldown per target, no fast attacks should be punished more than slow attacks in any game.

Interesting, that’s actually the first time i’ve seen devs post something like this regarding pvp in any mmo i played. Quite nice to be WRONG about about my view on all mmo devs that don’t care about anything but milking money from pve base, all while slowly scaring away pvp crowd.

Thing i wanted to note though, and it’s quite a big mistake i’ve seen alot of devs do in their games…
They make those priority lists with major, medium and minor problems. Problem is, all devs, you guys included, focus only on major and medium problems, leaving minor one’s behind, which leads them to NEVER getting fixed.
For me, and many people i know, minor things that may seem like not a big deal for you guys can be a major thing. For example things like Engi Static Discharge being worthless with any non-target utility, Blunderbass being lower than melle range, Vampirism Runes being horribly buggy, Grenade kit 1 not being auto-castable…
Also Charr shoulders floating high above the model and weapons having very noticable size differences when dual wielded, making you never want to pick this race because it just looks silly…(actually i guess its’ the main reason why people don’t play them much)
Really, i even wanted to leave gw2 myself because of those things, just like some of my friends did it for similar reasons because i understand that they may never get fixed.
All those things make game so much more limited on builds, it’s ridiculous… Bleh, just go to wiki an read all class’s bugs sections there, you will find many that are still in game.
All those little things seem minor but they make this game look so horribly ignored by devs, that players that do care about them will never come back, because they realize that those problems may never get a fix…

And how to deal with it? It’s simple actually, every patch you make should include majority of big problems, some medium problems and at least some minor problems you have… Thankfully they are minor for a reason, and that actually makes them much easier to fix. But they are always ignored and never get fixed…

Another thing i want to note, really, nobody likes playing against 9 midgets with unreadable animations, make all players have a glowing ascalonian soldier skin, colored differently if team colors option is enabled please, this will make a game much less ridiculous looking, and much easier to read. And yeah, by midgets i meant asuras.

Rly want stalwart shoulders for my engi in wvsw =/ no idea why this armor is not available when even npc’s in wvsw have it…

This thread fits in Bugs subforum more than anywhere else tbh… we have 3 stalwart pieces in personal story, so it seems like a bug that other parts weren’t added.

Rampage is still useless =/

There are so many, that it makes you never want to play that race as 75% of shoulders float so high above that it looks kittened. Especially it’s noticable on females. Do something already if you want players who like that race to actually play your game kitten .

And yeah i know it was reported many times already, but devs seem to be ignoring that problem, so we have to bother them about it all the time to have something done.

Rampage is still useless =/

Thanks for trying to buff that useless elite in the first place, but sadly, it wasn’t enough for 2 reasons:
First of all, it takes just 1 boon removal from enemy to make you a defenseless beating ragdoll as it removes stability and swiftness leaving you with 0 usable utilities, meaning u can be juggled and disabled for the eternity, and even if u somehow wasn’t, u lost swiftness, so again can’t catch up to anyone.
Second reason is it removes passive signet buffs for warrior. If you had healing+toughness signet before the activation you actually become LESS tanky if u use that elite, making you not want to press that button ever again.

So yeah, make those 2 buffs refresh themselves every second for rampage duration+let us still have passive effects of signets on use. Thanks.
