Tryggon Gathol – [RvR] – lvl 80 Warrior – IoJ
Sechnal – [RvR] – lvl 80 Ranger – IoJ
I predict this thread will be locked and/or deleted before page 3 is finished.
4:1 odds, any takers?
Since a comment I made was infracted for responding to Rodarin saying that everyone the disagrees with his idea is either dumb or on a dominate server, I concur with this prediction.
How do you know, you haven’t even allowed it to run its course.
No. It is not. Server rankings will sort this out eventually.
lol, what are your queue times like?
thank you for proving my point trae, this is purely public opinion, and the opinion of people can easily be swayed when they are down in the dirt andkitten off because of losing, everyone will say everything in an attempt to gain credibility.
in the end, it is just as it seems.. all of the allegation of cheating and exploiting over the years, and yet no bannings. all just heresay and attempts to discredit people who play the same games, but won, and the only venue they feel they can win, is the one where they feel they have nothing to lose as a random person attacking a group of people identified by a name.
even if that one person is shown to have been nothing but a bold faced liar, he just disappears into nothing and forgotten, but people still remember the name of the group that was the target, which is why it still follows around to this day with the same people from the same previous games, saying the same old things that they still haven’t gotten off their chest from years ago.
Anet is the final judges, and i’m sure they won’t hesitate to ban people who they feel are harmful to their game and community, but for some reason i have a feeling that they don’t feel someone who runs a guild (who hasn’t broken any rules mind you), that is build around running a large organization (which is complained about all the time.. of course numbers win this game of guildwars 2, and we all know it from seeing the top brackets, you cant win without population to start), is going to be banned… for doing just that, running a large organization with the intent to win.
Well that’s funny, because of all the servers who are being stomped right now, and out of all the guilds in the game, only one guild on one server is being trashed.
So maybe the reason people don’t like your guild is because of its behavior.
Also, its irrelevant as to whether or not we lost the match or not. Your guild leader and another guildie came onto our server while we were making ground against your guild, in order to try and mislead them and to spy on us.
Do something but don’t discuss it. What could go wrong?
Of course, they could always let rankings work out.
Even when they fix arrow cart retaliation damage, I think you’ll find that arrowcarting a stack of 25 people is spreading the damage too thin.\
No

Retaliation>arrow cart. When they fix that, then yes, l2arrowcart.
True.

1. Haven’t used these yet, so I cant say.
2. Didn’t even know there’s a portal gun.
3. I suppose you could try to use a treb to counter this, or just use the treb to destroy the door. So I won’t call it an exploit.
4. Exploit that needs to be fixed asap.
5. Cheesy, but not an exploit. Besides, it’ll be fixed once free server transfers are over.
1. The servers that dominate right now are doing so because they have nearly 24/7 coverage. Once WvW matches are grouped by rank, you’ll see less because those servers will begin to be grouped together.
2. Arrowcarts are cheap for a reason, they counter the zerg. They need to be left alone. As does the other siege equipment.
3a. I believe that if Anet were to allow guilds to transfer to other servers with all their policies intact, at least while they’re trying to balance servers, then you’d see server populations balance out quite quickly.
3b. I agree that some cross server communication would be nice. But as Cosian pointed out above, its not too hard to get into contact with a WvW guild on another server right now.
3c. 2 way pvp is awful, and I’ve had my fill of it thanks.
4. Don’t need rewards at all.
Let the baddies transfer to the bigger servers. It’ll increase their queue times, and fill their map with morons.
Bullrush+Frenzy+100 blades is a OP. I have a 80 thief in full invader and can be killed before I am even able to break stun and attempt a dodge. Those three skills will kill anyone under 14k life, if it doesn’t than just chase after them and spam your auto attack. Warriors Cheesy OP atm.
So what you’re saying is that your gear isn’t allowing you to win, and you lack skill, therefore you’re being easily killed by noob warriors.
First of all that doesn’t fit with the lore, second I don’t want any more pve in my WvW. Lastly, WvW is formatted as a three way fight for a reason. So that the two losing servers can gang up on the winning one.
Ah, I see. Sorry for the misunderstanding. Still though, a group that small can still hold off a zerg for a while, as proven by another post here on the forums.
A zerg that’s not in a standoff (I assume by standoff you mean attacking or defending a point) isn’t a problem. It’s literally doing nothing except running around ganking people and not winning the game. So they don’t really need to be fought until they come to a standoff, at which point zergs will counter them.
And can a 5-10 man group really be considered a zerg?
No stat increases. It ruins pvp, always.
Also, I think you’ve missed part of the point. Anet WANTS you to start alts, and play through the content again. That’s why they made multiple story lines. Plus they sell extra slots, so they make money off it.
No special skills because you played longer, other than that I like what you’ve proposed.
Also, there is a way to counter the zerg, its called the arrowcart.
Wolf is nice for the heals and knock downs. I like to use it for when my healing skill is on cooldown.
Sigh… sore losers, always crying for restrictions. WvWvW is fine. Alliances are part of the game. Night capping is part of the game. It’s free. Why do you want to sterilize it?
^
I’d rather them remove these from the WvW map. Or just give them to everyone automatically once they enter the Mists (and yes, WvW map is a part of the Mists from a lore perspective afaik)
Gathering signatures would be a great idea, although it’d have to be a large number and at moderate sum of gold.
Bribery. anyone can get signatures.
I thought about that as well. Could be that you need so many signatures that bribery wouldn’t viable. Or, as a compromise, signatures + achievements. Although I still don’t like achievements, that would place a bigger roadblock to those who want to be a commander.
As I said before, 2 week games will allow you to make up the difference. Ranking will also help to put these servers with large night time populations together.
Also, as I said before, WvW is not meant to be an e-sport. sPvP is.
I’m not a huge fan of achievements being the sole deciding factor of who becomes a squad commander either.
However, someone earlier posted the idea of making it so that you have to get signatures or something from people in order to become a squad commander. That’s an idea I could get behind.
As far as I’m concerned; all the siege needs a significant price increase. 6s for an arrow cart, zerg counter or not, is absolutely ludicrous for its effectiveness.
Destroy it then.
Let me hop inside a defended keep/tower to do so and I’ll certainly try.
You’re supposed to use trebs/cats/balisae/etc to do that.
Edit:
Or… set up your own siege engine and blast the carts. They will be destroyed in SECONDS.
lol, great minds think alike ;p
(edited by ecwoodrow.7034)
I don’t think the WvW part of the game was ever meant to be an e-sport. PvP maybe, but not WvW.
Furthermore, the two week games haven’t even started yet, its still in a pre-season if you will. Once those get started, in addition to the ranking system, I think WvW will even out.
Arrowcarts are the counter to the zerg. They are wai.
Great post. This should be stickied.
Is skill not already rewarded by, you know, winning? And being bad is punished by losing.
Titles don’t denote skill, just amount of time played.
1. Grenades are okay, but bombs are better.
2. I got all of them, but I mainly use the mortar and the offensive golem.
Not sure about the other two questions.
Fun. You play PvP for fun. All else is secondary.
Perhaps YOU play just for fun, a lot of people, myself included, need to feel a sense of progression and reward as well as fun from our games :P
Then you should have gotten a job, not a game. Srsly sick of people expecting to be “paid” for being entertained.
Look in any of the capital cities and Lions Arch. Some smaller cities have them too.
Obviously your Asuran is racist. For shame.
perhaps a thief put a stealth bubble on him?
I’ve noticed that larger characters seem to move slower, but don’t really, its just a animation thing. For example, my Asura seems to fly and jump higher than my huge Norn, but they don’t really.
No thanks. The siege system as it exists helps to discourage zerging. This would only turn WvW into a huge zerg fest.
I think we re playing a different game
I think only one of us knows how to play it.

To those that don’t like the gear treadmill endgame….okay….then why do them? MMOs are such a perfect microcosm of how real society works. Every action we take we take for a reason. If you don’t provide some incentive for doing something, why do it? And don’t tell me ‘so I can say I did it’. There aren’t enough people who will be satisfied with just that to warrant its inclusion in a game. There has to be some type of reward for partaking in these difficult end game trials. The problem I think GW2 may fall into is there adherence to the notion that they don’t want to allow anyone to be any better than anyone else gear wise. That leaves them with only the option of ‘good looking’ gear for end game. The problem with that is that is pretty subjective and not everyone is going to agree on that.
Now I am no where near 80, so I don’t need to concern myself with it yet, but right now it’s sound as though it could be a bit lacking in terms of rewards. It sounds like a lot of grinding for rewards that aren’t very functional in game. Again leaving the developers to ask themselves what reason does a player have to partake in this event if they feel the reward for doing so has no value?
You say “value”… let’s think about this for a second.
In a gear treadmill, you grind or whatever and you get rewarded with cool-looking gear that has better stats on it that before. The better stats is only in relation to everyone who hasn’t got this gear, since the next PvE challenge will be tuned according to these inflated stats.
In GW2, you grind or whatever and you get rewarded with cool-looking gear that has basically the same stats as before. Your stats are still about the same in relation to everyone who hasn’t got this gear, and to the next PvE challenge as it is tuned for the “maximum” power a character could have.
So the only real difference between these models is the ability to inflate your stats so far above other players who haven’t dedicated the time you have.
Therefore, we can reduce this to a simple statement – Players who insist that they need a gear progression system to enjoy a game are simply trying to create a sense of superiority and elitism in themselves, and those they play with.
The ONLY thing you lose in this system is your artificial sense of power and exclusivity.
Lots of people require a carrot on a stick to continue playing, something to work for. Why should I go on playing this the get cool armor (Lets face it all the coolest looking armor is going to be from the shop.) when I can get meaningful and cool looking armor in WoW, SWTOR or a plethora of other MMOs?
For me this is where the game has failed me (Among other things) as someone who really doesn’t care about wPvP (And since sPvP doesn’t give Exp…) this game wasn’t worth the 90$ I paid for it.
Perhaps you should’ve read about the game before you bought it then?
PS, you play the game to have fun. If all you want is a second job, I suggest you apply at Wal-Mart.
I agree with OP, Anet should make this game more like a traditional mmo so OP can complain that this game is nothing more than a WoW clone /sarcasm.
Srsly though, I bought this game for the PvP/WvW element, but I’ve found myself enjoying the PvE stuff a lot. I’m sure once I have done a few alts that will fade and I’ll go to WvW but for now I’m enjoying the content I have.
Yeah, I used my flame thrower for that part.
There’s a sweet spot. I don’t wanna say it at the risk of spoiling it for others, but I’m sure there’s youtube videos out there. You can also kinda “cheat” and have someone at the bottom revive you if you can’t get it.
Yea I guess I will have to… stop WvWing… to try these out.
Eventually. ;-)
There’s some in the WvW areas too.
You could always just try not spamming guild invites to random people, so that you don’t have people you don’t even know in your group.
There’s actually three of those in Lions Arch, and more in other locations.
Stuff you buy from the store appears in your mail I believe.
the benefit is fun
lol, good post. I salute you sir.
+1 for capes, these would be great.
Try queuing for a map other than the Eternal Battlegrounds. I usually get in pretty quickly when doing that.
