Auto cleansing fire every 40 secs is not all the conditions ever…. is far from all the conditions ever. Necromancer scepter AA only is 3 conditions(supposing they trait condi on crit which almost all of them do).

And even so auto defenses are not all that good you could get perma bleed and you cleansing fire will never trigger while you die from bleed.

And it would even matter if our hp pool where big like idk a necromancer that soak up a lots of conditions. But our pool is among the smallest. That is another thing I need an answer for. Why do we have such low hp pool?. I mean necro has a 15k hp worth of block pool and they have tons of hp.

Don’t bother thanks to their brilliant idea of pumpimg elemental attument up I decided to pump everything into arcana. fresh air too. stick to vital striking and if someone is a condition user don’t even bother in staring a fight with them unless is 2v1 in your favor.
Ether renewal works wonders for condi cleanse if you try to stay out of trouble. That is don’t lead the fight.

I have a norn the cheetah elite it gives you invisivility and hell of a dash something like 2100 range in total. Good for escaping.

Cores of the elementalist I only bother with tornado in wvw for MS+Tornado combo. Sword for doors but rams destroy doors not our try hard swords.

You do realize tornado is a 180s CD and it starts as soon as the skill activates right? How you got 240s I will never know…

It seems that they will actually move renewing stamina to a master tier trait in arcana, I’m honestly surprised that no one is saying anything.

They are moving elemental attunement up and not renewing stamina thank to the people who showed their concerns on the thread.

The problem I have with staff is that unlike other classes I can’t swap weapons. So everytime I use a staff I’m locked in long range. If my teamates are not aiding my sorry kitten when I’m in trouble I’ll be pretty much rally bait.

So often I will get that awkward position were you are fighting a melee opponent that is circling around you while you are trying to land your dem areas that have like a forever cast time. Which doesn’t happen when I roll staff on my necro.

You could say b-but staff has a lot of selfpeel. Well I spend most of them aiding my teamates not saving my selfish kitten.

Came from trying a staff. Remembered me this heal might not be that bad with a staff on since is a blast finisher well used not only you will it heal by itself but for the blast also.

Another nice thing is that allows for staff ele to have 2 blast finishers on demand supposing you use arcane wave. Not only you will have the fields but also the finishers. And when you play staff at least in pvp people tend to harass you at melee range.

It’s not that bad but I favor S/D so meh. For me doesn’t beat 8 conditions remover on 15 secs cd which you can safely cast by going around a coner or behind an object. Or I also pair it with armor of earth if I really can’t afford to get interrupted.

Arcane brilliance will be bad, this is why.

Idk I run zerkers and being in position where you can hit 5 targets 240radius means you should soon be dead.

I feel that when fighting mobs only guess I’m not skilled enough to pull it with players. But we do have lot of evasion. And trying arcane 30 now (ty Anet for nerfing arcane line). I get pretty much perma vigor I use sigil of energy too. Rarely get hit.

For pvp I must say I feel 1 thing different from my ele to necro I don’t have to do x4 as much to get the same or worst results. See as it’s right now 4 attunes =/= 4 times more efficient. It just mean 4 times more work. Do I enjoy it? well hell yeah!. But can sometimes get frustrating.

December 10th Elementalist changes

I was just rereading some of the patch notes when I decided to do some calculating for my build. I hope I’m wrong, but I think my individual attunement cooldowns will be slower:

Pre-update: 20 Arcana * 2% recharge rate = 40% recharge rate, 16 seconds * 40% = 9.6 seconds.

Post update: 20 Arcana * 1% recharge rate = 20% recharge rate, 13 seconds * 20% = 10.4 seconds.

So basically, my recharge rate will be slower by .8 seconds post update. Is this correct?

Seems that once again Anet is accomplishing the opposite of what they tried to accomplish, as it was the case when they nerfed our healing to stop bunker builds. We will have to put more points into Arcana (or as much) and my Adept water trait is moving to Master, so I’ll have to spend more points in water as well.

Nothing we can do really, they don’t want an ele to have a chance against a warrior. As they suggested in the last patch, playing an ele is all about “support” for party or group.

That’s contradictory with moving elemental attunement up a tier and leaving RS where it is.

We will see what will happen. I’m trying to get used to no elemental attunement but haven’t been successful yet. Maybe they could make those buffs core to the attument change.

WvW… WvW… Haven’t tried a necro there but I do have an elementalist. I run a mix of zerker and valkirye S/D. I roam with a thief friend and is fun to kill disoriented loners but..
when things get serious like assaulting a keep or zergVzerg big fights all you can do is pick a staff and support your allies with CC.

Haven’t tried d/d bunker but I’ll say without stealth or clones going melee with an elementalist with 5 ppl around is suicidal. Unless you go full healing power in which case will be like if you are not there. hit like a wet noddle.

If you like support go ele by all means. I must say I enjoy when I can land a good meteor shower in combination with my tornado elite. . tons of dmg. Also when I perma lock people so my thief friend can stab them to death. AoE stun, chill field, barrier, inmob.

Is it time to put a cap on damages?

Wait, could you please elaborate? I thought S/D burst is somewhat viable in the current meta? Or are you saying that the patch will render the build unviable? I don’t play S/x so I’m not familiar with the build, but Fresh Air isn’t being touched right?

I think he refers to the auto cleansing fire we will be getting in fire line. allowing us to get more damage from that line and less points into water

I personally don’t have a problem with how the ele plays. I’m just highlighting that dealing optimal dps as an elementalist is much more challenging than any other profession.

But everytime you land that churning earth is worth it.

We all did that. When you get to higher lv it will improve don’t worry. And by improving I mean that you will learn which skill you should use and wich you shouldn’t and when.

Quick example: I use S/D at low lv I would often lead with RTL for everything until Veterans stared kick my kitten in Orr.

Like K U T M said is not spamming is combo chaining. Right combo, right time and well executed because unlike engineers you can’t swich back for at least 9sec if you have 30 points into arcana.

If you want the less “spam” I would suggest not spending any points in arcana and use a staff. 30 water for support. And the rest I have no idea.

The changes they are making are really silly to me. Pumping some good traits up in the line so people won’t have to go deeper into said lines?

I used just to go 10 in arcana for elemental attunement. But right now I’m trying some 20-30 builds just not to let go of that trait.

And while that auto cantrip on fire sounds nice is contradictory to give passive defenses to a low hp class. I want to use my defenses when I need them not when the game thinks I need them.

But well we have to remember is better than nothing. I’ll get better it always does I mean look at staff, right?

Since I’m s/d gc I would say anyother gc that doesn’t see me coming or that I see coming first.

easiest to hardest would be:

-Thieves because phoenix fire grab would be enough just set a good 3+5 and maybe 4 if I need fire grab to hit harder which is almost never.

-Elementalist if they are bad. If they are God mode then forget about it they will know which skills to dodge.

-Mesmers if I don’t blow my burst on a clone…

-Rangers If they don’t happen to be running that signet that makes them invulnerable.

-Engineers I don’t even bother chasing.

-Warriors Will just spam 2 until I eventually make a mistake. Or will resist my burst with that stance that makes 0 0 0 to pop up.

-Guardians They just so hard to kill that 1v1 them its impossible because eventually all the league of justice(his team) will pass by and kick your kitten .

-Necromancers Never in my life. If gc they will pop DS boom I have to waste my burst just to take them out of a 15k worth of hp block while they deal tons of damage.
If they happen to be conditomancers I will need to focus just in staying alive. Luckily for me they suck at chasing so I will just rtl into the sunset and say “So long sucker”.

Trouble with vets while levelling

I used to cast earth elemental whenever I was going to fight a vet. I leveled with s/d and what I noticed is that while you can afford a couple of hits from trash mobs because they would die after I finished my combo anyways. With vets you don’t have that luxury Like hitting with churning earth forget about it.

I would say throw combos off the window just hit as much as you can without being hit back.

They obviously have no clue what they’re doing. They asked for feedback and still go ahead with these stupid changes. They need to hire a balance team that has actually played the class in every single possible way. I guarantee that if any Anet staff have actually ever touched ele , it’s just been as a zerg buffbot dropping occasional meteors while hiding behind allies. If any of them has ever bothered roaming alone, all the problems with ele would become blatantly obvious within the first 5 minutes of roaming. We need a balance team who has actually played the fraking class and knows what they’re talking about.

Thing is classes are not balanced around 1v1 to my understanding =/

To be fair zerk 2h warrior has to be on top of boss to deal damage. Also Guardian. My staff has 1200 range all I have to do is dodge a couple of aoe and I’ll be fine. I can’t count how many warriors I ress that get rolf stomped just because they wanted to deal tons of dmg with 2.

Also staff has lots of cc well played you can kite a mob good. I mean water 4, air 3/5 earth 4/5, fire 4. Perma vigor with that build you posted. Perma vigor and we are not even in melee range.

armor I have no idea I don’t really care.

Even tou lately I been runing with 14k hp and it’s good so far. Why do I feel more safe with hp than with armor I have no idea.

I don’t like arcane tree, it offers nothing for me past 10 points.

I might differ I like to clycle between fire/air/earth and save my water for heal and I need 9sec attunement cd to do that.

That said I play s/d so I don’t know much about d/d. But what I do know is that they are keeping renewing stamina which is a powerful trait in adept tier.

For D/D if you are 0/10/0/30/30 or the 0/0/10/30/30 pretty much nothing will change. I would even say we will be more powerful because they are hitting other classes with the hammer.

I have a ranger. Which I enjoy lots of evades =). But there is something weird about my S/D ele and is because is so active you have very little space to auto attack you are always doing something combining skills.

Haven’t try engi yet but I heard if you like doing combos they are the ones.

I would love for them to do like someone suggested make all attunes 8-9sec cd and turn that attunement recharge into something else.

Just speculating. Maybe a celestial bonus 2 crit damage and 20 points to all stats every 10 points in arcana. Or condi reduccion like guy said. Or global 0-30% reduction on your skills.

Nones, it’s pretty much impossible to land dt without signet of earth in pvp.

Don’t even bother for general personal rule I just cast dt when there is a big team fight going on and there is people everywhere I mean must hit someone, right?

Edit: You can also updraft the guy into dt after the guy comes at you if he is melee but it’s hard to pull. #ELEtism

Yeah I used to be like just sit in air attunement because I thought it looked cool and going to f1, f2, f3, f4 was a pain. I recomend you to first of all change your keybinds form Anet default if you still have them.

To know when to really change an attunement you must practice with the weapon first whatever is s/d staff d/d d/f s/f. Practice until you brain gives you the attunement you need without thinking.

For me the right moment to change is pretty much when I can combo skills. Or when I need to escape would be air or when I need to heal would be water.

For s/d that I use would be the famous might stacking combo. Or when you are channeling dagger 5 and you want it to hit a bit harder you attune to air. You can also do that for scepter earth 2.

These are the ones I use. Just swap slot skills with profession skills in that chart or you can use the shift+ as some people do.

I’ll say if you want like to really burst like a man all or nothing take 10 from water and 10 from fire and pump earth to 25.

Take tempest defense instead of fresh air. Scholar runes is proven to be better than divinity. For utilities lighting flash, and arcane power.

Choose a target earth 4+ Lighting flash into his face, activate arcane power which is instant and proceed to burst his face with phoenix ring of fire and fire grab which should all crit dealing tons of damage.

You can alternatively initiate with rtl+updraft.

Another burst build I run for trolling is going 0/30/0/10/30 and take elemental surge to kill squishy targets is more than enough just to pop arcane power and walk into them with surprise lighting flash phoenix and fire grab which should crit at max power because elemental surge makes phoenix cause burning with arcane power.

I also see you are running focus which I say is not bad for it’s defensive utility but is not for a burst build. If you choose S/F because you like it I’ve seen come awesome S/F users in pvp but they are not burst.

Also all this is from a pvp casual hotjoin PoV.(mine).

Is my understanding that untraited pets die really fast. I talk here from PvP I tried a glass cannon too. Maybe you would like to have a Wolf to scare things off you and a red moa for a sweet pump of crit chance. Always keep my pets on passive due to looking always fro high terrain advantage also.

As for a wish of improvement, like Rayean said pet should feel like it’s an extension of yourself, they should be able to do some tasks on their own. For example in pvp pets ninja caping points. Ranger two places at once OP?, I don’t think a pet would be able to solo something that is not an npc. Neither a ranger would. Pets need to be more than gimmicky dps.

I can only imagine my long ranger power sniper working if this were to be true. 1500 range burn+10% increased damage. Best of piece of cake to reposition if spirits could move.

As for spirits following you into melee. Who wants to melee when you can hit +10k burning barrages?.

I have a pandemic necro(I did b4 it was cool hispter glasses on) nah but seriously they get kitten tons of condi clear and tranfer. Everytime I dueled condition stacker I was happy.

We have a lot of dodge and stuff but you can’t dodge conditions =( that said every time I beat a necro I know he is a baddie.

-Bird pets could go something like “Flight: This pet ignores terrain elevation”(Going up and down cliffs, walls, etc)

-Cats may have “Lethal Paws: Critical damage increased 20%”

-Canines “On the hunt: Basic attacks cripple when enemy’s health is below 33%”

-Bears “Defender: Every damage that exceeds X% of ranger’s hp in one hit is transferred to pet”

-Spiders "Venomous Nature: Basic attacks have X% to cause poison

I have a question and I think an error in the OP.

This is stated in the OP:
Signet of the Beastmaster: Passive effects of signets also affect your pet.

But it says ingame: Active effects of signets also affect you.
Which seems to be something different.

Was this changed or?

And my question, the spotter precision increase only applies on allies, or also on yourself?

Spotter works on yourself too but it activates few secs after the battle starts.
