Actually we grasp it pretty well. We have whole guilds that just want to farm and not worry about the score(BT, etc).

We can’t farm you when you are not on. Nor is it any fun to take a tower/keep when you aren’t on to defend.

And forget about you guys mounting any offensive in your own BL to take things back. :P

This matchup has officially run it’s course and has become just plain boring now. I don’t know if I can take another week of this matchup it’s just the same thing every day

- 12AM-5 AM EST FA makes the maps green
- 6AM-12PM EST DB makes the maps blue
- 1PM-7PM EST Mag takes back there stuff and pushes both servers and for a while the battle is even.
- 8-11 PM EST FA wakes up and starts taking the majority of the map while Mag goes to bed and DB starts to trail off.

It’s like clockwork now. Something needs to change.

This is what I don’t understand. Mag is a NA server. Are they a bunch of 12yr olds going to bed at 9pm??

DB at least shows up for a bit.

Welp Mag 1.5 would likely still stomp everyone in Tier 4 if they dropped.

You guys beat Yaks by 414,000 points last time. Even in an absolutely worst case scenario you would likely still beat Yaks opponents by 100k or more.

If you want fights…Tier 3 is where its at for you.

History doesn’t reflect that. Mag destroyed Yaks the last time they played. I can only imagine that if Mag drops, Yaks will go up…and Mag will be stuck with the servers that lost badly to Yaks….a server that couldn’t reach 100k the last time they played against Mag.

It’s still very impressive, and leads to some good fights. Sometimes, however, playing against FA feels like the zombie apocalypse.

Its interesting the difference in our servers:

FA wants to go up a tier even though we’ll get facerolled, we just want people to kill.

A bunch of MAG wants to go down a tier…so they can have smaller fights, even though you are going to end up rolling over Tier 4 if you drop.

Honestly these consumables are the least of my worries in WvW.

I suppose if you run as a roaming guild looking for 5vs5 matchups…they may be annoying.

But if you are playing WvW to win and not be useless, then I’m not too concerned about them.

I’m hoping ANET revamps sPVP soon to add different game modes/ladders.

I’m not saying dueling shouldn’t happen in WvW. By all means play the game you want to play. To a point…

But if you are on FA and you want to do it as excessively as some of these other servers…I’m going to call you out for not being a team player and being useless.

FA expects you to fight the war.

Actually if you can find a good group or guild to run with, you can level pretty fast by taking things. I don’t know how well it compares to just doing chain quests and your story mode…but it can be pretty epic when you get 3 camps, 2 towers, a keep or Stonemist within an hour.

Leveling can seem almost too quick if you are capping really fast…but then again perhaps it should be since you are playing against real people and not AI.

All the chest bumping FA players need to shut it.

Don’t act all superior just because we have more coverage.

Shout out to AoN on DB….best roaming guild in this matchup by far. Glad to see you joined a guild Niim. :P

You have to understand this is only the 2nd match that FA has won in like 10 weeks.

If you have a guild with willing members, you can flip supply camps all night and leveling goes fairly fast.

WvW isn’t a bad way to level otherwise, but its not the best unless you are indeed flipping stuff.

Good for you. Glad to see OG out there doing something, I almost never see the tag myself.

Couple points I’d like to make on any misconceptions about FA:

1. Only 1 guild on FA right now truly zergs, and that is GODS. And trust me when we zerg you’ll know it(ie. EB this past sunday afternoon, sorry DB you were still in firing range of us at that point). Just an FYI we have only truly zerged once this entire matchup so far. We usually do it a bit more…

Sometimes we have enough to do 2 or 3 groups of 10-20 on the same map, not counting any other “special forces” type group we may have going. Tough luck if we appear on your map.

You’re lucky this week that most of the guild has been leveling their alts in WvW.

2. A guild like RET may get 20+ players on at once, but most of the time they run 10-15. And when they do, you’ll know it. I saw RET defend SMC the other day and push through a larger MAG force that was on the walls. Should have been a pitched battle…as both forces saw each other. Nope RET gut punched through them and that was it.

3. BT…welp you can watch their weekly recap videos and decide yourself what kind of work they do. I will say this: They will farm you regardless of what you think of them. In regards to the video…looks like the forces were equal to me. Its more telling that both MAG and DB allowed BT to flank them like 3 times. Smart commanders like Quenta can almost always count on the opponents not realizing whats going on most of the time. Perhaps you should think about getting on Quenta’s level instead of complaining about it.

4. We have several other EST guilds that are doing awesome. HOPE has recruited some, and they can roll with 10-20 on any given night…but they aren’t on every night. They are busy doing awesome stuff like dungeon races.

5. I can’t speak for our oceanics, as some of them are still pretty new to me. I do know that they are AWESOME.

6. If you want to 5vs5, head on over to sPVP. FA’s WvW guilds are too busy taking and/or defending stuff or wiping you.

I currently play on IOJ (WILLING TO CHANGE) but there doesn’t seem to be many guilds that are active and social along with being semi-hardcore/hardcore players
I play a level 80 guardian but don’t have much experience outside of the grind
I’m from aus and pretty dedicated gamer, I don’t mind getting on early or staying up late to attend guild meetings
I enjoy tactical WvWvW, wether it be in the zerg or just small groups
I believe server changes are still free for 2 more days?
EDIT: Talkative and friendly would be a plus.

You know a bunch of IOJ Oceanic guilds moved over to FA. I’m sure you’d be more than welcome to check them out. You may see some familiar faces.

We’d love to have some more coverage.

Also I’d love to pull an all nighter sometime and stay up and play with some new guilds.

I don’t think there’s any question about this. There’s also the fact that many of the person we’ve faced are crying babies and take the first chance they get to sling mud at us. Jesse Cox ring a bell? Yeah, lots of people are like that. Entire guilds of servers are like that. We simply don’t make an effort to correct them.

Welp in your defense Jesse Cox and his people are TERRIBLE in gw2 and WvW.

Also FA still loves Mag.

The last matchup with FA/DB/MAG was pretty fun.

We won outright. No probs. But it was a great amount of fun.

I’ll never forget Mag sieging up PANG with tons of ballistas and arrow carts, and holding it forever.

Thats the only thing they really owned…but it was THEIRS! It was epic.

Hope to have another fun matchup no matter who comes out on top.

I feel its balanced just fine. Every class can play their role.

People always complain about thieves:

Personally I find thieves to be pretty useless in full battles, unless you can find a really good thief who knows how to pick off stragglers in an open field battle. In a 15+vs15+ battle the thief is the least of my concerns, I’m looking for the Ele, mesmer or hammer warriors.

But their strength comes in when they are roaming alone or with a small squad.

The point is: Every class has its place to a certain extent.

There certainly are problems with certain classes(perma stealth/culling), but I’m not super concerned about some thief being able to kill me in the open field when I am alone. He’s not helping his team a bunch. Now if he’s soloing camps or killing yaks…awesome! But he doesn’t need perma stealth for that.

I feel that rangers could use a boost of some sort, but I honestly got tons of bags on my ranger. Entangle ftw.

The mesmer obstructed issue is lame to be honest. If I can see 75% of a norn over the lip of a tower wall, WHY is he obstructed? lol broken.

Honestly I was on all night between 9-11pm EST, and didn’t see a queue on either DB’s or CD’s BL. I didn’t check FA’s or EB(well i was on EB at around 7pm or so).

I know guild mates were in and out of the borderlands with no queues.

We had a bunch on…but not enough to fill up either BL last night.

Just a heads up, our WvW population dropped some after we got the big lead.

I can guarantee it won’t drop if the score is close next round.

Without logging on to see exactly how many kills/badges I have(at least 4k kills and about 1200badges), I would say that the RNG is very roughly 1 Badge per 5 Kills.

Somewhere in that range. I get a fair amount of badges from guild claimers also.

I don’t do jump puzzles really. I mean I have, but we’re talking maybe 50 badges total from that. Then add some for map completion in the borderlands…

I didn’t wear full power/crit/precision until recently, but it definitely helps you get more kills, which of course helps you get more bags and possibly badges.

Here’s to hoping that these badges can be used to purchase ascended and/or prestige….

Otherwise I guess I’ll have to buy a bunch of siege because they are useless otherwise and starting to take up bank space.

I would just like to add a few “no holds barred” comments:

1. FA is a drama free server. No inter alliance crap. FA server as a whole is the binding factor. We don’t necessarily agree all the time, but we ALWAYS work together to take objectives and get more loot. ALWAYS.

2. Some of the best guilds in WvW are on FA. If you are a single player looking for a home, we can make it happen in just about any timezone.

3. We are in Tier 3 right now. Its called “the grudge tier” for a reason. Expect hard fights on every borderland at all times.

4. We like PVE and sPVP too, in fact both are pretty busy, so you’ll always have people to play with.

That’s not really “rising up the ranks” as it’s more “getting to where you belong”.

Honestly, your best bet would be DB or with us at FA.

No drama and both could use and want your coverage. I can guarantee there will be good fights for you on either of those servers.

Honestly Tier 1 and 2 don’t really need anymore transfers. They want them, but there’s 18 other servers that need you more.

Commanders should be able to make groups bigger then 5 mans and there should be less rankings that are for guilds only.

Commanders can have 25 in a group shows up as 1 color
Captains (guild rank) can have 10 or 15 in a group and shows up as a different color
regular 5 man groups another color
solo’s keep them as light blue

I agree. With the exception that there shouldn’t be a limit to how many people are in the commander group.

WvW needs another tier to organize though, and to be honest I wouldn’t mind paying some gold for it.

ANET has made this really fun game mode, and hasn’t given us enough ways to organize our people. It usually works out fine due to most of the guilds having a 3rd party mode of communication(teamspeak,vent,mumble,raidcall), but some functionality should be built into the game.

Honestly I don’t think any guild should be transferring to Tier 1, they already have WAY more WvW population than TWENTY ONE other servers. :P

Thanks for all the posts and feedback guys. I’ve had a chance of collecting a few good contacts – and even had a chat with CD leaders. If anyone else can send me a pm of more community leaders/commanders from Fort Aspenwood and Dragonbrand – I’d really appreciate it.

These chats with the server leaders / commanders is really important in getting a feeling for the servers and ultimately to our decision.

We will be deciding this very soon – this weekend (probably tomorrow) after we’ve had a chance to talk to a few people from each server.

Honestly just wait until this week is over and DON’T go with the server that is winning. Actually go with the server that loses this week in T3.

I say this at a time when FA is winning, so I’m not being biased.

Just be aware that the losing server is likely going to drop to t4 for at least a round, due to MAG surging right now.

There are a few different knobs we can turn in regards to AoE some of the bigger ones being:
Radius of the AoE
Frequency of the AoE Damage
Damage of the AoE
Max Targets of the AoE

Currently, some players causing the AoE are able to do more damage to one person while also controlling a portion of the field, compared to a player with single target damage.
In our balance discussions we always look at what these changes could do to PvE as well as PvP. Any changes we make will undergo a lot of testing, both internal and by our trusted alpha team. It is important to understand that we are not doing a blanket nerf to all AE’s or a dramatic adjustment of the damage AoE’s can do. There may be some cases where players can build for AoE damage, but are just not viable or other cases where AoE is clearly the dominate way to build, and as such the other builds get left on the side lines. Its these classes/builds that we are concerned about.

You know you left out the most important thing you should be looking at:

THE PEOPLE IN THIS THREAD THAT THINK AOE IS FINE. YOU KNOW THE ONES THAT PLAY WVW EVERYDAY AND LIKELY HAVE MORE EXPERIENCE THAN YOUR ENTIRE TESTING TEAM.

Maybe make the tanks more tanky? Every person in WvW has their roll.

I’m a squishy mesmer, and I think enemy AOE is fine. Just dodge out of the circles!! That is why you guys made it so we could dodge, to avoid enemy attacks!!

The lag was sooooo bad in SMC last night in that three way fight that we had no idea that you guys had that many golems there.

ANET and most of the people in this thread need to understand that AOE is NOT the problem.

Culling and AOE is the problem.

Pretty easy to sneak in, then AOE an enemy zerg and win due to culling.

Fix culling and leave AOE alone. AOE spiking should be a viable tactic with flanking and portals. There are counters.

Let the battles happen and let superior tactics and skill win, how about we make that happen by fixing culling and not patching something that is fine.

Honestly I think your best bet would be to find a guild on a mid tier that runs multiple smaller squads, completing supply objectives and ninja’ing towers/keeps.

Also there’s plenty of guilds that have “special forces” that run around wiping much much larger forces.

This way if you you’ll have the opportunity to run with a smaller group or run with the zerg when you want.

I would say get your butt over to FA with us to be awesome, but Yaks Bend or Maguuma would likely be a good fit also.

You just need to find a good guild to run with, thats all.

And this is why FA loves Maguuma.

No current FA guilds are leaving as far as I know.

ULTD left GW2 all together more than 2 weeks ago now. Sad to see them disenchanted with the game so soon before all the updates that are coming.

I think it was FA. I’m pretty sure that the TC golem rush failed against YB.

I mean they obviously didn’t utilize ports correctly, but can you imagine the chaos if they did it now with the 20person limit on mesmer ports?

When you have that many golems, invariably a few of your mesmers will be in them lol.
