I used this rune to try a hybrid build, backstab dmg was ok but there are much better runes out there….
Scholar >> ogre >> divinity ….
It would be a great rune if it added some crit dmg or power.
Unfortunatelly hybrid builds dont work, you have to go full zerker or full cond, we cant have both….

Usefull traits for your team to work out:
- Move faster while holding a dagger
- Clean 1 condition on a dodge roll
- Vennons also clear 1 condition when applied
- Range on pistol and shortbow becomes longer
- Stuns also Apply poison
- Pistol skills have reduced ini cost
Please stop making changes and play a thief for a while in pvp….
You will notice that 60% of our utilities and traits are useless
The system should not reward interval playing…
Cause no one wants to take ranked matches seriously….
Or you can just press that skill: “takes out immobilize”
I was a point holder once… I can understand you… I would say that even 30% cap time would be Nice , it’s enough time for a thief to defend or cap and it’s not enough time for a permastealth to defend or cap.

You are right Elona, sorry for the inconvenience , I can’t say how is the new matchmaking cause I hadn’t been able to log into game, I was freaking out with the previous system… Hope to have better matches when I am back in December !
Use rank as matchmaking and you will have vets x vets and noobs x noobs
Why not ?
It will avoid all matchmaking problems because matchmaking will be the same for everyone.
And leaderboard rank will not be a matter of who plays the most according to you…
And, it’s a new idea , you are the ones to decide if it is reasonable or not…
Also you could use MMR to place people on leaderboards but not on matchmaking.
Play most = wins ? I don’t think so… I can play 200 matches and win or lose all of them, your argument is not valid… Anyway…
We don’t want a leaderboard based on who plays the most. Of course not.

We want fair play and the most fair I can imagine is random since matchmaking can’t predict who is gonna leave the match, who is gonna screw the game or who just sync with teammates…

Leaderboards should exist ? Yes…
MMR should exist ? No…
There has been like that on all pvp games, solo arena is supposed to be SOLO, so it should be random, play with noobs, veterans, medium players, whatever, just enter and play… The best solo player is the one that can win more, regardless teammates or enemies…
Team arena should have leaderboards ? Yes ( By guild name )
Team arena should have MMR ? Yes
The main problem is proud… Imagine if you create something that is complex and you think it’s very nice in theory but it doesn’t work, would you let go ? Would you stop the MMR system on solo queue and let it random ?
MMR could be good if it was a 1 v 1 system but it’s not… We are doomed to have other people that we don’t know as teammates and some of this people just want to screw with everything….
I ask to let MMR system for team queue and remove it from solo. Make solo random. It will increase number of matches, it will make leaderboards fair, and if people want to play in a group and competitive there will always be the Team Arena… If Team Arena is ranked by GUILd it will also promote team and guild increase
What is the ready button for ? Everybody should press ready and only than the match start. If the is a missing ready that guy is replaced after 30 seconds… gg
That way 4 v 5 will always happen intentionally , in case someone press ready and stay AFK in the base and in that case he should be punished with 15min , than 30, than 1 hour, 1 day etc
I think it’s a skill to be used, in fact, everything should be allowed , shadowstep, stealth, portals, blinks etc… Just deal with it, this is pvp….
To be placed on top of leaderboards one should be winning non stop and playing tourneys all day…
Instead, what is happening is that people play for 1 game, stop a week, play another game, stop, play after 2 weeks…
Some guys play tourney since beta, have more than 1000 wins and are super low in leaderboard while others play 20 games and are on top…. Lol
Victory should count more, and decay also, each hour without playing should count until a maximum decay…
Let’s suppose rank #1 stops playing….
After 1 day he is #25
After 2 days he is #100
After 1 week he is #700
When he gets out from rank the decay stops and he is now 99%…. Than he comes back and has to climb up again….
If he doesn’t stop playing he can keep his #1 rank as long as he is constantly winning….
I don’t know why people rage so much about other classes… Remember that no one is invincible and some classes have advantages and disadvantages compared to others… Just wait for the next update and everything will change again… And remember that someone is gonna kill you no matter what build you do….
Someone said about amulets, I agree. I think amulets are a good starting point to know what is the role of the player on each map, let’s suppose we have a warrior with bezerker amulet and another one with clerics, it’s like 90% chance the cleric is bunker etc…. Not taking noobs into account…
Reset everything on a period of time… It’s very easy to create a new account once, but it’s not so easy to create a new account every month…. We want a system that is fair and competitive, not a joke…
Why can’t u just admit the system is broken and try to fix it ? Instead of saying that “rank doesn’t matter” … If it doesn’t matter make it random, reset everything, what is the difference ?
Not everybody used exploit to climb the leaderboards, some people really play SOLO, and this guys, no matter how good they are, they are going to fall their MMR to the ground because each loss is a better chance to be matched with worse and worse players, afk players and against a higher rank team… Just because they are not abusing the system….
What about the top players that played for 15 matches and stopped ??? This is the number of matches you guys want us to have ? Play 15 tourneys and leave ?? This is the same number I can make in some hours… This is unbelievable….
For the system to be less unfair, The MMR should match the enemy not your teammates.
Anyway…
Why not make it a period of time and reset ? Good players are always gonna make their way to the top . And the competition will be nice every month, new players will try harder to have a good leaderboard cause at least they know every month they have another chance.
With the current system not even Chuck Norris would be able to climb his way to the top once his MMR is down… Just admit it and make it fair please…
Mesmers have a good burst, they don’t even need to know where you are to attack you, just put their clones and get away….
Mesmers have more stealth than thieves and when they are not in stealth they can use their skills to be invul….
Mesmers have portal and can turn someone in a chicken, so let’s recap…
1) Burst ==> Thief is higher, not sustainable, single target and uses initiative, Mesmer is high, can be AoE or single target, sustainable, and depending on build don’t need to press any button. Elementalist is high, AoE , sustainable, create different combo fields and need cooldowns… ( I would say different roles and all can serve well )
2) Habilities to engage/disengage ===> Thief stealth and shadowsteps, Mesmer stealth and blinks.. Elementalist only their high speed, invuls etc…
( I would say thief wins this one )
3) Mobility ===> Thief shadowsteps and bow , Mesmers portal to the entire team , Elementalist speed, skills….
(I would say different also but Elementalist wins cause even with shadowstep thieves are no match to how fast a Elementalist can move on the map )
As for defense, thief is by far the worse, any AoE can burst a thief to the ground, second comes Elementalist with also zero toughness but some invuls, and the best one is Mesmer… Assuming they are all glassy…
So the easy choice would be Mesmer , the risky choice would be thief and Elementalist would stay in the middle, I could agree that elementalists need some love.
No, never… There are a lot of MOBA games to play , if I wanted to play MOBA I would be in League of legends.
Minimum rank requirement is a MUST for system to work…
2 reasons
1) Avoid a totally newbe to be put with high rank players… Someone can just create an account with zero knowledge of the game, enter pvp and think:
" what is that arenas over there ? I am gonna sign In ! "
" hey I can buy runes in the other npc ! Nice "
This guy doesn’t know that he just ruined some high rank player match, and it’s not his fault…
2) Some high rank player can just log in his secondary acc and try to ruin other ones rank or feed his own rank in the leaderboards….
With a minimum rank both situations will be avoided and system will work better…
You hit Play now button and another window appears with 3 or more options:
1) Tourney mode —→ you are put on a 5×5
2) Glory mode —-→ you are put on 8×8
3) Death Match mode —-→ you are put on a 12×12 big map without capture points, only kills count.
Hot join should be fun, rank leveling should be faster and tourneys should give you nice rewards…
For solo queue It should be totally random…. Anet is always telling that rank doesn’t mean anything when we all know this is not true, if it doesn’t mean anything the matches should be totally random !!! You can have a great player on your team but also a super noob, it doesn’t matter because the opposing team is in the same situation… If I want to play organized as a team I can go to team queue, wich also should be random according to Anet… Otherwise it should be separated by rank tiers, 0-10, 10-20, 20-30, 30-40 etc… Other than that are just excuses… Make rank to be valid or make it random
Well, I never played Pve so I can’t say about Pve rewards… I can say that is not only about “rewards” but making your character unique, different armour etc with the points you have earned in pvp….
As for not been predictable I doubt it very much… If you know about your class, the opponent is very predictable… Please tell me just 1 thief that doesn’t have " shadowstep, shadow refuge or blinding powder" in at least 1 of their utilities… Just know the game and you will see is super predictable, there is no such build diversity. We have LOTS of traits , and still we can take 2 or 3 kinds of build for each class in 99% of the players, that means we tend to use the same traits, and of course no diversity….
Nice, I sold my 200 trick or treat bags in black lion trade post because they were useless in pvp before I travel lol
Now I am coming back to gw2 only in December… Won’t get any reward…. Anyway , if it’s only tourney chests I don’t care cause of course I have all the skins and we can always farm again….
Guild wars 2 was never created to be a MOBA game… I would be leaving the game at least, because I love the way pvp was designed at first, dynamic, that was what made me play GW2….
Hero system in LINEAGE 2 is the best pvp mode I have ever played….
It’s a series of 1 v 1 matches in a small arena called Coliseum, where anyone can go against anyone, it’s random… There is a monthly rank and in the end of the month, the #1 rank player of each class is elected Hero for the next month, he can wear a special skin armour and weapon…
All matches can be spectated
There is no draw match since after 15 minutes the one that inflicted more damage is the winner, so even if u make a “super unbeatable regeneration warrior or point holder that cleans all conditions” you will lose, so it’s better if u kill your opponent !!!
It’s a very nice, very simple and very addicting system and fun to watch since everybody wants to see who is the new “Hero” and best player of each class !
Good rewards are really missing…. You win a match against a good team and what you get? Some corn for Pve lol…
We should get Halloween pvp items… Each season we should have exclusive pvp items as rewards… Not only winning reward but achievements for example:
1) Killed 200 thieves — title Police Officer , new sword skin unlocked at pvp vendor…
This was just an idea, but rewards are missing in pvp…
You do realize that some people just log their second account and leave it AFK to feed their main right ?
1) Leaderbords been reset each period of 3 , 4 months….
2) Rewards been given to the top players of each period…
3) Changes to matchmaking system been made at the end of each period to avoid exploit, sync etc
4) Problem solved, everybody is happy….
Build diversity yeah right !!! lol
Never seen a Trapper thief… Or a hybrid thief…
And the changes are not enough to bring any build diversity, the builds will be the same… 30 points in critical strikes will still be mandatory to any dps thief.
Venomous aura is in shadow arts when it’s supposed to be in deadly arts…
I don’t even want to continue with thieves trait discussion because they are a complete mess…
Anyway, there will always be a patch ( I hope this continues every 2 weeks ) and there will always be a new meta, we just need to ADAPT… Every class will be nerfed someday and will be overpower the next day… That’s what happens with every MMO…
I don’t see how can u be so excited about the new changes, for me it’s a normal update, didn’t see so much of a difference.

Practice availability: I am a navy officer, so I spend 1 month at sea and 1 month free to play… I will be playing in December at any time of the day…. For that reason I can’t be part of a closed competitive team, unless I am a substitute so I can play when I am on shore….
Would like to play with a team when I am free and learn other classes also…
Level of desire: Casual tourney / pug style / hardcore team substitute / solo queuer
When I am not at sea I can play tourneys all day long and I don’t care about leaderboards…

Pistol wip for sure will be back… More vulnerability stacks….
Pistol/dagger with vennon share it’s a good option also, but bleeds are quite useless with so much regen….
Dagger/Dagger backstab also, probably my main build, I can see a very good boost for more qq ….
I can say that Anet should have some pvp players to give good ideas because some changes are doing exactly the opposite what they want…
Hard to catch trait shouldn’t even exist…
1) Solo matchmaking really working….
Not putting rank 5 togheter with rank 40
Not putting all teamates of same class… Like, 5 necros in same team or 3 mesmers and 2 thieves in a team….
2) Better rewards and item diversity… Update patch items to drop in pvp boxes as well, not only in Pve… The item design in pvp is horrible… Nobody wants to wait for 10 years to have a nice armor… And in 10 years the “nice armors” that we have now will be the “crap 10y old armors”.
3) Big Tourneys organized by ANet.
Coming back to gw2 after a long period, dont know much about the new faces…
I remember a thief named RaMin…
Dont know if he still plays, but for sure was one of the best I’ve seen…
In EU I remember Lowell from supersquad….
