That’s not an area currently in the game, definitely not Frostgorge. Those Zeppelins are the same as the Pact ones, and the island is not one of the floating monasteries the Kodan build.
It does look like the SPvP map though, I forget the name.

On the contrary, if the skill were to kill you on use, it should multiply that effect by ten as well. You should leave a smoking crater.

That’s the behavior of all back items when you use a shield. It happens for backpacks too. It’s really amusing with the back banner, because it looks like it’s unfolding or something.

Because they were designed that way. Everything you buy from shops that’s rare or exotic is Soulbound on Acquire. It says so in the tooltip. It’s like that for everything, from dungeon armor to cultural armor to karma gear.
Painbow.6059: Ignore what anyone else who doesn’t agree with me has said because its wrong.
Area denial doesn’t exist unless there’s a specific area that needs defending, and unless you’re talking about PvP that basically doesn’t ever happen. Guardians in SPvP are great because they can single handedly hold points for extended durations due to their easy access to stability, retaliation, and so on. But even in WvW that starts to fall apart, because the areas you have to defend are vast and too much for you to control by yourself. So unless you’re into SPvP (which is what a lot of GA was anyway) and WvW you’ll probably want to focus on some other aspect.

It doesn’t matter – they probably made a ridiculous amount of money off of this, and there are so many people defending them on the forums that they don’t even need to address it themselves.

Painbow.6059: Ignore what anyone else who doesn’t agree with me has said because its wrong.
The game is, with rare exception, about absolute reward for time and effort invested. Dungeons are a prime example of this. Want a pretty TA armor skin? Invest enough time in the dungeon to acquire the tokens, and you get it. Want a Fractal Capacitor? Invest time in fractals, accumulate a fixed number of materials, buy/upgrade it. End of story.
With things like Precursors and the RNG chest skins (Fused, Sclerite, Halloween), instead what happens is you invest time, effort, and money ad nauseam for a chance at maybe getting one. It’s a moving target. There is never any guarantee that no matter how much time, effort, and money you invest, that you will get one. And that is kittening stupid. It’s not fun, and it’s not compelling gameplay. And “just not doing it” isn’t a good reason to absolve Anet of making unfun, uncompelling choices.

It works fine in actual PvE.

Healing Power scales terribly for most of your healing abilities. You CAN be a healing support character even without healing power, and you’ll be more useful to your team if you can kill and heal. Mace/(Shield or Focus) + Staff is incredibly supportive in both healing and boons, and you don’t need healing power to make it so. You’ll heal everyone around you on your autoattack, you have regen on a symbol, you AoE heal for 1.5k or so with your Shield, and another 1.5k or so on Empower. Battle Presence is really not that great, unfortunately. Healing over time never saved anyone, burst healing does.
Painbow.6059: Ignore what anyone else who doesn’t agree with me has said because its wrong.
It’s not a stunbreaker. Stunbreakers are usable at any time. If you want to use RF, use a stunbreaker first then use it. It takes two abilities to do what you’re asking for, but you can do what you’re asking for.

Sword/Shield is a fine combo, traited. If you aren’t full Radiance I would go with the Greatsword or Hammer instead.
Painbow.6059: Ignore what anyone else who doesn’t agree with me has said because its wrong.
Shield of the Avenger is still good at what it’s designed to do, which is block projectiles in projectile heavy dungeons and WvW. The rest are really easy to destroy. That said, they’re okay, but just okay. Traited for Inner Fire, their Burning hits harder than yours does, and they can receive boons and healing. That means they synergize well with Staff and Mace in terms of keeping them up and buffed. But sadly, it’s just not the same as it was a few months ago when they were invulnerable.
Painbow.6059: Ignore what anyone else who doesn’t agree with me has said because its wrong.
Torch is really bad at long duration fights and mediocre at short duration fights. Cleansing Flame does terrible damage for its duration, and only cleaves 3 targets rather than the usual 5 for other AOEs. Zealot’s Flame is hamstrung by its cooldown and doesn’t offer much overall DPS over autoattacking, only a fair burst. I really recommend Focus or Shield over Torch for almost any situation.
That out of the way, Mace is a totally fine DPS weapon, the only thing that hurts about it is the lack of cleaving on the third autoattack swing. That said, it has slightly higher DPS in its autoattack against a single target than Sword does. Sword’s main advantage in its autoattack is the fact that it has 3 hits on the last swing and thus does a really good job of setting off on-crit effects from sigils and traits. However, the last swing is actually a projectile, not melee damage, and so for things like the bonus fractal or other monsters with projectile reflection or blocking, you can actually end up hurting yourself on your own autoattack.
The other thing about Mace damage is that while yes, Protector’s Strike hits like a truck, if you leave it hanging out there and don’t absorb an attack for a long time your DPS actually tanks as a result. So only use it if you absolutely know you’re going to block something right then and cancel out of it by hitting another attack (I commonly use Shield 4) if you fail to block immediately. That will keep your DPS up.
Scepter is great as a DPS tool though the longer the range, the more likely you’re going to miss due to movement. The orbs are also tragically slow, so slow that enemies can outrun them with Swiftness. As others have said, it works great as a faux melee weapon with breathing room. But it doesn’t cleave, so if you’re in melee and facing multiple opponents, you’re much better off using an actual melee weapon.
Built properly (with RHS and other traits) Greatsword will almost always lose out to Sword, Scepter, and Mace in terms of damage versus a single target, but versus 4 or more Greatsword will almost always out damage Sword, Scepter, and Mace – as long as we’re talking about optimal builds for each weapon.

95 crates opened, finally got a ticket. I was weirdly angry when I got it.
Painbow.6059: Ignore what anyone else who doesn’t agree with me has said because its wrong.
Now that you know to add 90 manually in Buildcraft, I think you’ll find that the difference between Bane and no Bane with and without full Might and Vuln stacks is indeed quite large. I consider full Might and Vuln stacks to be realistic against bosses, but not against trash. Hence… 5-10%, depending.
Painbow.6059: Ignore what anyone else who doesn’t agree with me has said because its wrong.
Berserker, basically. Stick Force sigil on your shield, and an on-crit or kill stacking sigil on your greatsword and mace.

In a dungeon group with 10/30/0/30/0 Zerker it’s worth 5% with modest might and vuln, 10% with full might and vuln (as in a boss fight).
There’s not much to fight about here: If you don’t need to bring a reflect to a fight, don’t use Wall of Reflection. Use something that will contribute… like Bane.
Painbow.6059: Ignore what anyone else who doesn’t agree with me has said because its wrong.
On the contrary, on a lot of builds Bane signet will give you 5-10% more damage depending on how many multipliers you’re running and what your critical damage looks like. That’s a massive increase from a utility. Nowadays, if you are at all interested in dealing damage, post-buff Bane is awesome. Obviously for certain fights in dungeons you’ll want to replace it with something specific to that fight, but that applies to your shouts as well. In general though, Bane’s great.

You guys realize this is not a target based game like WoW but a collision one like TERA, right? If you fire a projectile at target A, and secondary target B is in the path of the projectile, you will hit B, not A. Similarly, if you swing your single target melee skill at target A and target B is between you and them (keep in mind most melee skills really have a range of 120 or 150 which is roughly two character models away) you will hit B, not A. It’s not a deficiency of targeting, it’s one of positioning.
This is wrong for the simple reason that I have on many occasions targeted A while B is between me and A and killed both A and B with the one shot.
No, it’s not wrong. Most melee attacks cleave other targets nearby. Taking Guardian sword as an example, hits 1 and 2 of the autoattack chain cleave up to three targets at a roughly 90 degree angle. The third hit doesn’t cleave, but instead launches piercing projectiles which can pierce up to 3 targets in a cone. That said, if target A is at range 100 and targets B, C, and D are at range 80 and you attack with number 1 of the aforementioned autoattack chain, you will hit everything but A.

Not quite. Your target will remain A (as the highlight will remain on him) but B is body blocking your projectiles.
I didn’t say your target would change, only that you would hit B.
Yes, but people here are complaining about the target actually changing.
It is most certainly what the OP is complaining about. OPs target isn’t changing.
Dunno, can heartseeker be body blocked? Can’t say i have bothered much with theif, nor pvp.
The leap itself will send you through intervening targets, but the range on the actual strike itself after the leap is 120 just like any other melee attack, and if once you land there is still an intervening enemy or otherwise hittable object you will strike that and not your more distant target you originally lept at.
Painbow.6059: Ignore what anyone else who doesn’t agree with me has said because its wrong.
I wouldn’t even use them for the actives unless you’re WvWing and need that bane knockdown to catch something. Also, if you’re going to go 30 Radiance, you should pick up RHS even if you only have one one-handed weapon. It’s a pretty huge DPS boost.
Painbow.6059: Ignore what anyone else who doesn’t agree with me has said because its wrong.
Don’t overlook signets. If you’re feeling squishy, Judgement is worth 300 armor, and if you’re feeling like you aren’t at risk of dropping use Bane for the extra power.

@Rendier, I echo the sentiment – I salvaged quite a lot of rares yesterday, unaware of the issue. I was also one of the unlucky souls that completed the Southsun dungeon before the patch went live and thus went unrewarded for it. So that’s twice I’ve been screwed in this event.

No, as in, “Oops, MMORPGs are massive hulking beasts of a codebase and occasionally stuff goes wrong. When it does, it takes time to identify the problem.”

There’s currently a large debate on the issue, specifically with regard to Ectos salvaged from rares. Overwhelming data points to a nerf, and Anet responses seem to indicate that it was accidental. One Anet person is looking into it.

I’m all for it. Particularly for F1-4 which I rebind to be easier to access, and on some classes F1-4 have varying utility that I would rather rebind them for. For example on an Ele it makes sense to do F1-4, but on a Guardian, who spams F1 all the time if he’s Radiance specced, I’d rather have it on C. But that screws things up a little on my Ele, because I don’t go into Fire often enough to warrant that being so strangely placed.

I was able to disarm while standing quite a bit away, since disarm (all three versions) is a ground targeted ability.
This should have really been described in some way. I have fast cast ground targeting on and there was no clue as to this. No freaking wonder.
I mean, the ability has the red crosshair over the number it’s assigned to like any other ground targeting ability, so…
