The colossus fractal is amazing, but I have to say that after completing 100 fractals it is a little too long. The final seal bug is now this fractal’s one redeeming feature for me! When you (Anet) fix it will you also slightly reduce the number of hits (i.e. by 1) the arm, chest, and head seals take to break to shave off a little time? Another time waster on colossus is when someone falls off and dies instead of respawning in the downed state. I’ve even seen it when the hammer is left floating in the sky when someone dies after falling. Fix those before fixing the final seal too please

I agree with everyone else that the DC reconnect issue should be priority #1 though.

What penatbuter said… By casual orr farming you can get about 1g per hour minimum. Use the money to buy mats. Not that hard now… Or if you do not want to spend money just play the game and wait till you have enough.
Free tip…if you are saving for your legendary you dont actually need to “farm” any mats at all. Just by mystic clover conversion you will probably get more than 50, 60% of mats needed for the craft.
Actually you dont need to farm anything at all… noone forces you to grind for barbie dress-up. It’s another thing if you chose so.
@Decrypter You dont want to spend 2 MONTHS getting 250 RARE mats for a Legendary or Ascended? You want what? 2 weeks, days, hours? Or do you want it now?

Yeah I kind of want it now (Ascended) since I haven’t had a ring drop so far. By your estimate I could go grind for gold 40 hours to have enough $ for a single stack of T6 mats but I call that working, not playing. I miss the ol’ 1.5k armor days.

Legendary is another discussion since that essentially is playing barbie dress up. The context for this post is agony resistance.

Yeah I only have about half the gold for one of those back pieces despite playing for (too) many hours every day since release. Probably because I spend most of my play time either 1) running dungeons or 2) WvWvW. It turns out that I was doing it wrong- I should have been farming Cursed Shore and “playing the TP” exclusively in order to have the funds to craft anything in the My$tic Forge. I didn’t mean for this post to sound negative but it is kind of ridiculous.

I agree that Jelly is a tad too easy in the tier 1 levels but I also agree with the others that said his HP pool is too high. You have to stab at him nigh forever before he’s fishfood.

SE path 1 is still too hard for PUGs- not bugged but I doubt that it was the developer’s intention . I don’t think there were any dungeon fixes this patch.

I’ve hit that AC path 1 bug twice in the past. I’ve submitted bug reports and posted about it on the forums here but have never seen anyone from ANET acknowledge it. I’m still sore about missing those 120 tokens.

ANET does seem to be on a mad drive to release new content instead of give the existing content much in the way of quality improvements, dungeons especially. Hopefully after the xmas shopping season they can sit back and fix bugs for a while instead of constantly clamoring for press attention with these highly marked content releases.

Unless exotic pieces are required to get the ascendant items in the Mystic Forge recipes I have a feeling it will be completely viable to go from rares->ascendant and skip the exotic tier completely.

The group dissolves when the leader leaves the group. This is a feature, not a bug.

The fact that you can’t change leadership is more about wanting a thing implemented than an actual bug.

This is a bug, I think ANET has talked about fixing it in the past but obviously gave no ETA.

Infusion in GW1 is nothing like what we know about this new infusion system. It was part of the storyline, you did a mission once (after the patch) and every piece of gear you had equipped would be infused.

The best idea I have heard was in another thread, where someone said you should be able to put your existing exotic in the forge with some new ingredients and have it upgraded to an ascendant item. Otherwise exotics will be a complete waste- just equip rares/masterwork and skip the exotic tier completely.

PS- keep the stats between exotic and ascendant the same please.

Magnetron why don’t you just chill out on the whole legendary grind for a bit? It sounds like you are making rash decisions without actually knowing much about the game’s economy. What makes you think those T6 mats aren’t going to drop in price soon as well? And know that no matter what you do, obtaining a legendary weapon is going to be cheaper someday than it is now but even so you won’t “lose” anything. You still have yours, you just paid more to have it sooner.

More powerful gear won’t make me play more since I already play as much as I can. However if it is too much of a pain to get I will probably start playing less. I quit WoW back in the vanilla days because raiding Molten Core was a huge pain due to infusion/agony, err.. I mean resist potions/fire damage and the insane amount of time you had to put in to raiding to get even one piece of gear.

I find it quite hilarious that people thought the exotic armor that’s so easy to get would be the final tier of equipment and that they’d never have any new better equipment to get that might actually take some effort other than “I made moneyz”. The game’s been out for all of 3 months and you thought you’d never have to do any more work for future content?

I personally welcome the new content. Especially since they’ve defined that the gear progression WILL end as Rare -> Exotic -> Ascended -> Legendary.

Also the fact that Ascended has fixed stats no capable of normal upgrades balances it out so that it’s pretty steady with exotic anyways.

That’s how GW1 was, and how ANET let everyone believe this game would be as well. I don’t think there would be any furor if ANET had communicated that exotic was not the highest tier stat-wise from the beginning. Creating a new tier of gear at this point in time is really pointless- they could have allowed existing armor to be infused just the same.

I would never have crafted exotic jewels for some of my characters if I knew they were going to become obsolete. What a waste of ectos. This is why I am against gear treadmills- I want to get best in slot equipment ONCE for all my characters and then just have fun playing the game. Re-grinding better gear is a crappy experience. I will especially be QQing once my dungeon armor sets become obsolete.

In November we’ll unveil the first Ascended items. This new rarity type falls between Exotic and Legendary on the spectrum of rarity and has slightly higher stats than Exotics.

For me, more acceptable approach should have been as follows:

To bridge the Exotic to Legendary gap:

1. Introduce slots on existing items.
2. Introduce different upgrade components like runes that provide variety of effects, defense (such as KD resists, daze resists etc.) and offense benefits (Less chance to miss owing to elevation differences, more critical chances etc.) without impacting the stat numbers.

Why I hate this “slightly higher stats” concept?

1. It introduces power creep and way too early in the lifecycle of this MMO franchise. Given how old this game is, its like Nightfall just happened too early for this franchise.
2. The game is easy enough. Why would you introduce higher stat weapons that will simply murder the difficulty level of the current world mobs? I’d not even touch the issues that will impact the current dungeons. There are just too many existing already.

Why I hate this “Agony” condition?

1. Limiting this condition to only to the Fractal of Mists dungeon funnels the whole playerbase to one area/dungeon leaving the already empty world to its own fate.

Players will be able to acquire Ascended Rings in the Fractals of the Mists dungeon

2. It also marks the begining of the shift in the core of GW franchise philosophy.

The new additions in November are just the start of our item progression initiative. As we introduce the new high-level content, we’ll also roll out complimentary Ascended and Legendary items (to say nothing of the other rewards you can earn by playing the content).

Yeah, more gear to grind to grind more gear! And Mudflation begins..

What probably would have been sufficient for now?

1. Add “Storymode” dungeon content where players could get infused, much like GW1’s infusion mission mechanic, without resorting to grinding new gear.

2. Improve availability rate of the Legendary precursors.

We also have plans to add more fun ways to acquire Legendary precursor items with a more “scavenger hunt” feel than they are acquired currently.

Then… work on to

3. Add more PvP content – formats and maps. GW is a great game not because it had great PvE Storyline or missions or had more mobs to kill. It is a fun game because you can hop in and do any format of PvP that you want without having to dedicate a massive amount of time to enjoy it even when many formats were quite difficult to master.

4. Rethink WvW and make it so that more and more people participate in it without being motivated to complete the World Exploration or to do monthly or to farm BoH by doing jump puzzles while enjoying the content without being killed by invisible enemy zergers.

I did not spend $149 on this game to master the art of out-gearing 99% of the population as fast as I can so that I can grind more gear. I am very disappointed that GW2 has chosen to become another gear grind MMO. Is this WoW 2.0 since there are no Guild Wars in GuildWars 2?

It’s really very disheartening that ANET has decided to yield to the gear grind philosophy of every other MMO.

I realize the gear can be used in WvWvW, but I what I am hoping is that the infusions have very dungeon specific purposes so that the gear is actually on equal terms with current superior runed / upgraded exotics. If that isn’t the case, IMHO Anet is making a big mistake by adding a new tier.

Well, then for what it’s worth, look at the examples posted in the blogposts. And those carry a hefty increase in magicfind, which, converted to somethiing useful, comes out at at least an 8% upgrade to the stats.

Ignoring infusion.

Whatever infusions might add is not even factored into those 8%. Read up first, please.

I think it is good that everyone is alarmed but the content hasn’t been released yet, so no one exactly what the final stats on the items will be. Again, it’s good to be alarmed so in case Anet was about to walk off this cliff they will hopefully realize their mistake before the content goes live.

I think that will cause a lot of the dedicated WvWvW players to leave the game. The only way I think this will be the case is if the infusion upgrades don’t increase stats at all.

YES, it affects WvWvW.

Once the full ascended set is out, that’ll be at least an 8% advantage in base stats. It’s been said here time and again and if you take the time to look at the posted item in the blogpost, you can see it for yourself, too.

If it makes you feel better to pretend that we don’t know yet for the next three days, feel free to ignore what’s already known. But don’t confuse others by posting here, uninformed.

@Regrets: I agree, if I wanted treadmill progression I would have bought a different game. If I decide to stop playing Guild Wars for a few months and then come back I don’t want my characters to be weaker than when I left. Although I am going to withhold final judgement until we see exactly what types of infusions are available. I really hope they are not applicable anywhere outside the dungeon and that the increase in base stats is just a way to mitigate the loss of runes or orbs.

I’m ticked off that the gear has higher stats than exotic because it will render all exotic gear that everyone worked for un-optimal, and also because of what it means to the dedicated WvWvW players. For now it just sounds like just rings and back pieces will be impacted but eventually all gear will be overtaken.

Also does this mean that there will be no reason to ever run HoTW, CoE, and Arah explorable paths ever again? Stinks if you liked those dungeons or wanted the dungeon master title.

As for agony and resistance I’m happy to wait until I’ve played it a while before I form an opinion.

I tried to level an alt for a while last night in the Brisbain Wilds and saw only two other players and experienced only one event. At one point I got really excited because a Skritt came up to me shouting about needing help but when I talked to him didn’t actually have anything to say, bummer. I have a sinking feeling that leveling any more alts that this point is going to be lonely and boring.

Nothing about this fight is hard, it’s just long and boring. I mean, sure, one or two people might die in the lava but nothing that will wipe your team. It would be nice if his HP was halved or if the shield stayed down a lot longer.

There have been a few threads on this. I don’t think Anet has commented on whether they are going to fix it or not. It IS possible to beat this path but I’d say it is too difficult for a PuG group.

SE PATH 1 Completed Without Bugging

I tried PUGing SE path 1 this weekend after watching Strifey’s video but we failed. Our group consisted of 2x Guardian, 1 Necro, 1 Ele, and 1 Warrior.

We did manage to kill the first boss after a few tries. Basically we had to kill his adds, run away to the ledge off the side and lose aggro (if someone had aggro at this point they jumped into the lava). Then we ran back again and just barely killed the boss (I think only one or two of us was still alive). Then we gathered at the ledge again and ran the gauntlet killing all the barriers. We made it to the second boss but could never get the full group to the safe side alive. The two squishy’s would almost always die running to the second boss or die right after getting there. Two of us weren’t ready to give up but the rest of the group had it at that point and bailed.

I think that if the patrols spawned less frequently or if they were regular mobs this path would be slightly more PUG friendly. Plus a WP after the second or third boss!

Explorable Dungeons are Too Easy at Level 80

IMHO the difficulty for most dungeons is just right, although there are a few that are too easy or too hard. I think the lower levels dungeons SHOULD be easier by default, since they should be complete-able with level appropriate characters in level appropriate masterwork/rare gear. But in order to give a challenge to kitted out lvl 80’s maybe ANet could add a GW1 style hardmode where they change some things such as:

a) Increase boss damage (but decrease boss hp somewhat)
b) A wall/door closes after starting a boss fight so there can be no WP zerging. After boss a resets the door can open again. (Or easier to implement- all WPs become contested while a boss has aggro).
c) Give each boss, or maybe only each final boss, an additional attack or phase to mix up the encounters and make them harder.

Or the ultimate punisher:
d) Party wipe == dungeon reset (UW/FoW/DoA style defeat)

Also I like the idea of a 10 man dungeon that has more complex mechanics and requires more teamwork, but I doubt that would last long against the challenge seekers in this thread.

My pug did it the other night with 3 groups (first group had one person, the others had two each). It took 2 or 3 tries with this mostly experience group. I don’t know what our secret was- speed buffs seem incredibly important in order to run back from the WP, and packing as many survival skills as you can.

PS- I don’t know why we did it this way instead of 5 groups of 1.

AC Hodgins Path - Bug?

I’ve had a different glitch happen to me twice so far- we kill the final boss but no reward is given. Hodgins just stands around like a dofus. I’ve posted about it on this forum and filed two /bug reports, but the bug still hasn’t been fixed. Meanwhile I’m out of 120 hard earned tears (maybe I should QQ some more haha).

My group failed at path 1 after a couple of attempts last night. Here’s what went down:

1. We did the 1 kite / 4 on boss trick for the first two bosses. No problems.
2. We tried pulling the golems, but all three came and we quickly wiped (everyone was an SE first timer except the group leader).
3. Immediately upon respawning at the WP, there is a group of grenadiers waiting for us. While we are fighting them, 3 more arrive. Behind them is yet another group of 3. Wipe.
4. Respawn and try to run past the horde- only one person makes it and the rest become food for small demons.

We reset the instance and tried again but the person kiting the grenadier crashed and things went to hell by the time they got back in and the path was flooded with grenadiers again.

This has got to be a bug, please let us know if it will be fixed Anet!

Hodgins is alive and well in my screenshot, but no reward. I can’t remember if he was alive or dead at the exact moment when the boss died.

Hey there,

I just finished AC explorable path 1 but no one in my group has received a reward. The quest hint still reads “Search the catacombs for the patriarch” even though the final boss is dead. We didn’t skip any of the bosses along the way. The only weird thing that happened was that the burrow at the very start of the dungeon did not spawn until we were in the middle of the second boss fight. After the final boss we went back and cleared the first burrow but it still didn’t help. We cleared the rest of the breeders in the boss room, we’ve been running Hodgin’s around, but nothing has triggered the quest to end.

See the attached screenshot- we are clearly standing in the empty chamber of the final boss but the quest is still active. This happened around 11:35 PM EST on Yak’s Bend. I filed a /bug soon after it happened.

Is there anything that can be done? I hate to beg but would it be possible for an admin to send me the 60 tears I should have gotten? If so I know the account name of one other person in my group in case it helps get them what they deserve as well.
