I’ve always wondered how many people engage in this type of transaction. And for 600g, I’d GLADLY give my gift of mastery + clovers.
Throw them in the mystic forge.
Items bought with karma arent salvageable.I remember salvaging them many months ago, but I realised it was after I transmuted them.
I just transmuted the gloves with cheap (80s/ea) Magi gloves and salvaged them that way.
80 SILVER each?
you could of transmuted with cheap 1s white gloves and it’d do the same thing. you’re only after the rune anyways. level 80 would be safest as I feel some runes can’t be on low level armor, but the price difference between 80 and 5 is so little that it’s just not worth having to waste 1s buying a 2nd pair of gloves :P
according to Gw2Wiki, superior runes can be on level 60+ armor.
i am having the same issues…..
I was wondering the same.
My number is embarrassing, but I’ll put it here. I’ve spent approximately $2.5k, in various doodads and such. I have a lot to show for it, and I’d say about a third of it has been gifted items to game friends, RL friends, and my husband. I love supporting the game. I buy some gems every paycheck. Usually because there’s something new I want, but sometimes it’s just because I want to support the game.
The only way I could see this as embarrassing is if you were not able to afford the 2.5k
Obviously you can, and obviously you are happy with what you get for your money.
I’m at $100 and will probably spend more once something comes out that I really like
what rank are you currently?
and when you put those three components into the pvp mystic forge, can you see if any pvp mats that you have look like it/they could be added?
There’s usually a fair bit outside of Fort Trinity.
just checked. 3 total herb patches in the general area. only 1 gave lemon grass. even if all 3 had, still….
I agree that it’s quite disheartening to get blue rarity dyes, especially in a speciality pack like the flame and frost dye packs.
And trust me, I empathize with you. I learned some harsh lessons with RNG long ago.
I guess one of the misconceptions about the dye packs are the chances of getting the exclusive dyes. You actually don’t have a 6/25 chance of getting a (for example) Flame exclusive dye. Several people have done drop rate research and youtube videos, and it looks like the rate of getting an exclusive dye is more like 5-10%.
That being said, all blues is just rotten luck.
I don’t understand why people get so bent out of shape when they try their luck at the RNG game, and lose.
If you can’t afford the gold/gems/$$$ to gamble with RNG, then DON’T.
If you think that you’re going to beat RNG, you WON’T.
There is nothing wrong with this mechanic, as it works perfectly. People who want luxury items can either 1) buy them off the TP for a high price and guarantee that they get what they want, or 2) gamble, but risk getting nothing in return.
Do you all see the demand increasing in the future? (with the release of 500 jewelcrafting)?
Some quick thoughts for improvement:
1) create rank brackets for solo que arenas. (ie: 1-20, 21-40, etc.) This way you dont have teams that have one player r55, and four that are r2, vs five r15 players.
2) create new game modes: death match (ie: first player to 5 kills, or first team to 50 kills. no nodes needed), assault (think mini WvW, but with tweaks to make it quicker and more fair to assaulting players), polymock arena (please! pretty please!).
3) make it disadvantageous to just have someone bunker down on a node or point. add a debuff that appears after 5 minutes not in combat or something.
feel free to add/ agree/ disagree
i cant really see any of the series 1 pets topping 100g any time soon. the demand is too low for pets in general at the moment. IF Anet introduced a mini pet arena…. the sky is the limit
redeem for light armor rares lvl68+, salvage for ectos and silk, sell, make bank, put it towards a pre
i dont know what other people bought them/ why people are speculating,
but i bought about 10k because they are so cheap… who knows… maybe theyll be useful one day
Okay goodbye then.
Especially at the subscription part, just.. what the hell.
Gear Progression and Subscription Fees are a tumor upon mmo’s.
vouch that.
if anything, the karma is the easy part (compared to finding/buying the mats and pre)
karma is very easy to attain if you WvW or run fractals. or if those arent your cup of tea, just kill teq once a day for an easy 11k karma
they are the same as they were in Gw1. purely cosmetic. they will not attack anyone. they have no stats. they have no attributes, except how cool some of them look
my top 5 list (in no particular order):
1) Guild vs Guild. the best form of pvp in my opinion. also would help getting GW2 into the E-sport scene
2) re-vamp of the personal story line. at present it is just a way to help characters get through the zones and learn a little bit of the story/lore. I would like to see more story with more choices that actually have long term consequences/ trade offs. think unique skills or abilities or allies.
3) re-vamp of the living story content. at present it is really just a way to give players a couple days of achievements to chase without contributing anything to the actual story of the game. Id rather see the content oriented to the story of GW2 and not some random enemy, and I would rather it be more of a quest or adventure than simply; go kill these champions 10 times, make sure to hop their attacks, and open this chest…. blah.
4) add more skills/ skill capping like GW1. why? because it will add massive variability to the way the game in played in all aspects.
5) introduce WvW mechanics into PvE content. maybe the next time the centaurs in gendarran take a town, they actually destroy it, and part of re-capping the town is running supply to rebuild it/ setting up siege to take it back. or maybe in orr when the undead capture the Jofast camp, they set up barricades/ siege, and players have to lay siege to take it back.
the extractor is fantastic for ascended gear and the new agony or old laurel infusions.
they provide a great option to change my 20% goldfind infusion for a 20% mf infusion, without having to basically destroy 20 laurels.
additionally, they are quite useful once you start to get higher agony infusions, as they start to get quite expensive.
Why are you acting so entitled? Why in the world would you think that you should be able to have Best-in-Slot gear by the time you reach level 80? /s
i dont know that the sentiment the OP is expressing is entitlement. at least, thats not how i took it.
ANET and the guild wars franchise has always taken the stand that their games are not a gear grind (grind and grind to get the best gear which offers significant advantages to those with over those without). What the OP is saying (IMO) is that they feel ascended gear DOES offer a significant advantage. And that for most, that advantage is out of reach.
agree that its difficult on the casual gamers/ people who dont have the time to put in.
disagree that ascended armor is needed for any part of the game currently.
the stat increases are small. and as always, skill>>>gear
i dont see there being an immediate use for these, but ive got a bit stocked up for when it does come out. silver especially is just dirt cheap, cant see it going lower.
i was wondering if there is any way to un-soulbind my frostfang axe. if I were to transmute the skin (with a fine stone) and then use the transmutation splitter on it, would the result be unbound?
I see what you’re saying OP, but I have to disagree.
1) introducing a new tier of armor that has MINIMAL stat advantages doesnt appreciably affect gameplay. The ANET model has always been skill trumps gear. Even if they did create new, more challenging content, you’ll still be able to do it with exotics (unless its super high fractals + ascended armor offers infusions or slots).
2) you aren’t at much of a disadvantage in WvW, unless you are a small ops roamer. Again, are those few extra stats going to make the difference in a zerg vs zerg, where half the players may not even have full exotics? I think not.
3) I will concede that crafting (currently) will be the most reliable way to obtain said gear. I would like to possibly see other methods of obtaining ascended armor (like ascended trinkets or rings or necklaces).
tldr; ascended armor is not currently and most likely will never be compulsory for high end gameplay, except in select settings. and even then, the stat differences between exotics and ascended armors are completely negligible when compared to differences in the skill/ ability of the player.
I am not happy about it. After Anet was silence about the topic for an eternity I bought a code for 300g. Call me selfish, I do not care.
good for you that the gem: gold ratio is sky high at the moment.
$50 in gems will net you the 300g (or there abouts) that you spent on the mini. granted, you will still be out 4000 gems, but i guess you could call that the price of getting the mini much sooner than everyone else?
Saw this thread a couple days ago, and was inspired to make a mix and match set for my asuran warrior
Prices of T6 fine mats have moved, what, 10% in the last month? That’s what we’re getting riled about?
Nope.
getting riled up about speculating future prices
i bought them I spend about 570 Gold
edit… you beat me to it
also- looked @ my numbers and the ones you had… not sure why you used 113 kits, and why the tp tax isnt figured in
did some quick numbers…..
okay. so assuming you bought ectos @ 33.35 silver (highest offer on gw2spidy at the moment), that would be 566.95 gold.
assuming you then sold the dust at the lowest sell offer @ 16.86 silver (1 copper lower than lower sell offer on gw2spidy at the moment), that would be 531.26 gold. Subtract the 15% TP tax, gives us 451.57 gold.
so, -566.95 gold (ectos) + -10.44 gold (68 master kits) + 451.57 gold (sale of dust) = net profit of -125.82 gold.
given that you got 887 exotic essences of luck x 200 luck per = 177,400 luck.
177,440 luck/ 12582 silver (125.82 gold) = 14.1 luck per 1 silver

I’m just wondering: almost all screenshots I’v seen thus far of people crafting precursors are warriors. It’s scary really. And this guy uses a MF booster + MF food. Wonder if there is anything to it.
warrior here. can confirm that i still have no luck, even with mf boosters.
holy. FOR SCIENCE indeed!
did you buy the ectos or accumulate them? i would be very curious to see if you are able to break even/ what the gold per luck ratio is
So spending 750g on rares is uncommon to get a pre cursor? So if i spent around 600g on exotic (if we say 4g per exotic) i would have had a pre cursor now? (because 150 exotics x 4=600g)
not necessarily. its all RNG.
some people prefer to roll exotics since the result will always be an exotic. some people prefer to roll rares because you can roll many more rares for the same amount of gold. at current prices (~30s per rare, 1g50s per exotic) its more cost effective to roll exotics IMO. either way, you are gambling on a very very small percentage drop.
DONT
dont sell them soonprice will go up
first with armor asc-patch and after this we will have someday jeweller craft to 500 AND we will have precursor scavage huntthis means everyone and there dog can make a precursor and will go to make a legendary – so t6 mats will be very very rare
i agree that the combo of Anet introducing farming events to increase player base wealth and ascended armor/ precursor hunt will ultimately increase the demand for t6 mats. however, t6 mats won’t ever become “very very rare” simply due to the multitude of ways to accumulate them (t5 —> t6, laurels, farming bags in orr/elsewhere/etc). in the end, what i see happening is that the price of t6 mats will gradually increase and replace insane precursor prices as the most cost prohibitive part of crafting a legendary.
i know a few people who have already started to stockpile t6 mats in anticipation of the ascended armor crafting and associated increases in demand and price.
that WOULD be epic. 100 vs 100 omega golems.
@Everyone.
I have no idea why any of you are saying the OP is assuming there is some sort of manipulation on the TP. That is not at all how I read it.
I know, they all reacted on the first guy that commented on my post. It was too much fun doing that than staying on topic. Granted, one guy stayed on topic though, and speculated people sold their cooking stock as a result of there probably not being ascended cooking in this patch. It doesn’t explain the other materials though, but whatever. Let’s see what this patch brings: if it contains lots of people concentrating in Orr, we’ll know there was another nice lil’ leak.
every patch has had a ‘nice little leak’. i think at this point it’s a given.
@Froacus, I keep about 1-1.5k in the event something amazing comes up. One never knows. Have about 2k in short term my short term is 1-3 months, and about 1k long term. (year or more) Covering different areas of the market is wise imo. I don’t really invest in skins, I think some are great to invest in. But seems like everytime we shake a stick, there are new skins. imo, just following how minis did in gw1, yes they will most likely be a good investment. Some may take a very long time tho. I only try to make 30-50g a day, some days are very good some not so much. Always do research as to updates beforehand and that will help you profit more than just about anything. Things that have helped me, is never ever panic buy, never panic sell and have patience. good fortune in your trading.
For me shortterm investments always better than longterm, cause you lose alot money when you reach the timelimit
for me i wanna make 10% per week from my investments (crafting, flipping etc.)
so when i would invest 1000 gold in longterm and think i can make 100% on this than i need to sell it in max 7 weeks or i lose gold
some math:
1000 gold + 10% per week and invested all again for next week1. week 1100
2. week 1210
3. week 1331
4. week 1464,1
5. week 1610,51
6. week 1771,561
7. week 1948,7171
8. week 2143,58881
9. week 2357,947691
10. week 2593,74246so invest only in longterm when you have to much money and cant invest all shortterm
thank you both for the replies.
may I ask how you are able to turn a 10% profit daily? maybe I’m blind or (more likely) inexperienced, but i dont know that I have seen many items that you could buy thousands of, that swing 10% into the positive daily. that is, unless, the act of buying thousands causes the price to increase, causing people to buy em at higher prices. if that’s the case, time for me to farm more capital
The first generation pets will spike in price between Oct 14-17 and then die down to levels slightly higher than what it is today. I think they will still be producible from second generation+ lower-tier pets.
excuse my ignorance, but why oct 14-17 specifically?
Set 1 Minis are discontinued in the Gem Store on 15th of Oct.
i see.
i had a look at the set 1 prices, and i cant believe that the common pets are 1g each…
how much do you think they could realistically spike?

I currently have around 2000g with me, after having invested 1000g over the weekend. My investment profile is very balanced (over multiple items per market):
1. Pets (30%)
2. Skins (40%)
3. Weapons (30%)I just focus on these 3 markets, and reap decent profits. If all goes well, it is fairly simple to make 20-50g a day, 100g+ during updates etc.
I have another 1000g invested in long term reserves in the same markets,. plus probably another 700g+ in materials for an incomplete legendary (only missing the precursor).
do you see the first edition mini pets as a good investment? I know that they are not being released any more and that should theoretically increase demand. However, I don’t know that there are that many people who actually want to collect 35+ mediocre mini pets that they will never use once they achieve the title.
maybe im missing something?
I usually keep 100-200g in liquid cash or buy orders to generate short term profits.
Everything above that, i usually exchange for gems or put in long term investments.Hard to say how much gold i actually have locked in long term investments because those are taking up around 300 bank slots atm, not counting stuff in my collectible tab, which is pretty full as well.
100g at hand I usually use for buy orders for 20-30 items that i know i can make short term profits of, then i use another 50-100g to put in buy orders for either long term investments or new markets.
This way i make around 30-100g short term profit per day, depending how much time i invest.
I usually dont do direct flipping of items, as i find that boring for short term profits.
Most of the stuff i buy short term, either gets crafted into something else, salvaged into something else or opened, then sold again.
where do you see the equilibrium point being for gems? will they reliably still rise in price? or do you think they are getting so expensive that people will start laying off of em? further, do you see Anet giving out any more free gems (as they did for achievement points)?
^ Lol.
@OP I don’t ever bet the farm. 200g is a lot to have invested when you only have 10g left. Sure if everything went to kitten you could survive off of 10g, but nothing I would want to risk. If you’re fine with it then cool though. Just remember whatever you invest can be lost.
Atm you should be heavily invested in cloth. Orbs will be good longer term though.
yeah. the only reason that i’ve bet the farm is that I have nothing to buy, so i figured it was better to put my gold to work rather than just sitting on it.
most of the investments are low risk (like orbs) where I got items at nearly vendor prices. I do have quite a bit of cloth, amongst other things.
I do worry, however, about not having much liquid cash, especially with Halloween right around the corner.
What is an optimal % of wealth to keep in investments vs liquid? Also, any opinions on how diverse investments should be?
Here is my situation (please feel free to offer criticism/ advise as im new to the tp game)
Amount invested: 200g
Liquid Cash: 10g
Investments: orbs (33%), metal (10%), other materials (20%), weapons (10%), skins (15%), fine mats (12%)
Credit to vol on this one. I wouldnt have even thought about orbs unless i had read about the risk/reward for em in a post vol made
orbs seems to be a fairly safe investment at the moment because you can buy them at essentially merchant price (you might loose 5s-10s per stack selling back to a merch).
im not really sure what they will be used for in the future however
title really says it all. I’ve been gaming for years, loved GW1, now loving GW2. The best part about most games for me is the community. I currently play on Blackgate, but at odd times because I’m overseas in the UK. (I’d be willing to change servers).
basically, I don’t really care if the guild that I’m in is ‘elite’ or ‘number 1 pvp/pve’. All I care about is a fun, helpful, mature (and sometimes immature) environment.
I’m currently a lvl 80 warrior (lvl 400 weaponsmith) and I’d be more than happy to help out guildies/ join pvp/ wvw/ etc
If your guild sounds like what I’m looking for, please feel free to hit me up here or in-game.
