I agree – I’m not into GvG much but the other week people who weren’t participating in a tournament got really kitten of at our guilds who were fighting in GvG at the map while we were trying to defend inner doors of T3 keep.
The compromise is to organize GvG on Friday before reset as most of the time matchups are pretty much decided then so everybody is basically fooling around.
Guild tags aren’t unique – I have seen a lot of [WvW] tags but they are from different guilds.
I guess this is another proof that Gandara is a PvE server. We are very active in WvW and to get your map completion you simply need to get on-line more. I think we held all towers and keeps at some point last week – we are in Tier 3 so fights are hard and we really pulled a miracle last week and won against a tough opposition.
Also, log on at different times of day – servers have different high times and if you come to WvW in afternoon you’ll find us with our back against the wall because that is when Piken’s Russian guilds are dominating.
I would suggest that you get more active in WvW if you want your map completion. Install Team Speak and connect to gandarats.com where we are coordinating attack and defense.

i had fun these days playing wvwvw but kitten the main reason i played is because i wanted to capture all the kitten Points of interest, vistas and so on.

I’m pretty sure we captured every objective on the map at one point in last week’s matchup, just log on to WvW regularly and you should be able to get them if this week is any indication. I mean, this happened at 11pm on one day.

We are in the same boat – can’t even start the guild mission we researched and built because only an absent guild leader has the right to start it…
This situation really sucks, it seems our only option since we are unable to contact guild leader is to disband and make a new guild.
Support even suggested to several of us about a feature that existed in GW1 to automatically demote guild leader if that person is inactive for a certain time. But honestly, OP had all the existing rights before the latest patch and the mission control being limited to only one person means all the people who worked to build up influence and upgrade the guild can’t enjoy the new content.
A simple hotfix to expand this right to several people in guild would solve this problem.
Things like this are why I think it’s a good idea for guilds to have, at minimum, 2 people who can do everything and at least 1 extra person with access to key features like permission to change ranks.
We have that – a co-leader had all permissions as guild leader and officers only didn’t have a right to change guild logo. But with new content being added only leader was given mission control…
This exactly happened to our guild too, but luckily one of us knew how to get our leader on line. An overlooked problem.
I hope we’ll manage to get hold of our leader as it seems that is the only solution… Or make a new guild and grind influence all over again.
I believe it’s possible to give anyone access, you just need to enable it in ranks. Still need the leader to do that, though.
Yes, that is true – the problem with absent guild leader remains.
My guild numbers 100 people of which around 20 are active every day. We have saved up influence and have unlocked Guild Bounties only to discover we can’t access them. Why? Only guild leader has a right to use mission control.
Our guild leader was very active and a lot of people are in a guild because of her. However, due to some RL stuff she isn’t playing any more but she is still nominally a guild leader. We have a co-leader who deals with every-day business of the guild and officers who help out. They all had all the rights the guild leader has prior to the latest patch which introduced guild mission.
We didn’t notice it at first and have set up an hour when we gathered up to attempt our first guild bounty. Only to realize we can’t activate it as our guild leader is the only one who can do it.
We are trying to get in touch with her but have so far been unsuccessful so my question is this – is it possible to extend mission control to several highest ranks in a guild?
Correct me if I’m wrong but swirling winds don’t block balistas and arrow carts so you have a counter for this tactic.
So that is why you keep coming to our Borderland while your own is mostly red and green

I remember when there was peace in Eternal Battlegrounds Jumping Puzzle – one server was dominating and held all 3 keeps on map.
And yet again a thread that suggests changing reset times ends up in Suggestions…
I would love for reset for European servers to happen at more EU-friendly time but I don’t think it would solve the nightcapping “problem”. The match lasts 7 days and servers with better coverage would again take advantage during nights regardless of when the match begins.
But yeah, please put reset times for EU at earlier hour – staying awake for reset after a whole week at work is often challenging.

If by nightcapping you mean constantly having over 400 points per tick during primetime (20-24 pm) then yes – we are nightcappers.
Abaddon’s Mouth had a great attack on their Hills last night. We saw you coming and by the time I left arrow cart when I saw you aren’t going for a gate you already had 5 catas up at west wall! I have seen some fast siege building but this was truly instant.
If our main force hadn’t left Garrison attack and came to help defend you would have took it. Serves us right for focusing on putting siege at doors and leaving walls without it…

You really follow the saying – what is worth doing is worth overdoing. You also used 3 superior rams on T1 doors on our borderlands the other day. Did you get SM with all that artillery lined out?
It can be avoided if you are holding a crystal.
I would like only two changes in current downed-defeated mechanism. One is not to allow stealth-stomping and second is not to allow reviving players who were finished. It defeats the purpose of long and easily counterable animation if you don’t get any benefit from it. Usually it is faster to just use regular attacks to finish the player.
It is sad seeing one server so completely defeated. At least we can appreciate 1vs1vs1 in the future matchups more. I feel a bit like a vulture…
My 2 cents about Hills glitching last night.
Such fights are the reason why I love WvW. I had a lot of fun in conquering Woodhaven and defending Hills against 3 biggest guild groups AG can field. We were fighting tooth and nail and that mesmer who cheated robbed us of a fair fight. It provided that final push you needed to break down the doors and left a sour taste in my mouth. Sure, you had numbers and gates were down to 10% but that portal prevented a group of us who ran supply to repair the gate. We had 2 trebs hitting your catas and we have already destroyed several of them and without that portal we could have held you back.
I accept your apology and I hope that mesmer using a well-known glitch gets ostracized by your community. I would have certanly done it if it were a player from my server.
Only a WvW player wakes up in cold sweat at night because he dreamed somebody yelled “INCOMING”.
I think he is talking about blueprints in inventory. I agree, different background colour or something like that would be a good change.
Please don’t come to overflow server. Our queues are big as it is during prime-time with all those randoms hopping in on a bandwagon.
I think a small elementalist is behind them as you can see meteor shower falling on them.
To be honest – I would really like to see GvG implemented because it can get really frustrating to lose keeps and towers left and right and 30 people are just standing in the spawn dancing or costume brawling not being interested in fighting for the server. Some even had a nerve to ask people who actually want to do WvW to change map as their guildies are in queue…
Sure, everybody is entitled to have fun in it’s own way but for us who fought hard to bring server to this tier it is frustrating to get influx of tourists who couldn’t care less about anything other then their organized inter-guild fights.
Just make a separate large-scale GvG and let those who actually want to fight for points and capture towers and keeps on the map.
Just had to drop in to say how proud my guild made me tonight. In the end we never managed to get Longview, but that t3 wall went down to 2% before the Piken zerg finally showed and wiped us. There have been a couple absences and departures recently but tonight a couple people stepped up and proved their leadership ability.
Oh, last night was amazing. I went to sleep 2 hours late then I should have because I had so much fun and didn’t want to stop. My favorite moment of the evening was when we wiped the zerg twice our size at Hero’s and then you just hear Noelson on TS – what the hell just happened?
I agree about upgraded towers and keeps being worth more points as currently there is little incentive and reward for upgrading. Maybe give a guild influence per tick as it is usually the guilds that claim them and upgrade.
I’m not too keen on adding more PvE content in WvW – you don’t have to look further then Grub in EB to see how much of a needless distraction that can be.
As for anti-zerg measures: playing in large numbers is what is the epic part of WvW. One of the finest memories in WvW I have was defending a Hills Keep from wave after wave of enemy attack with 20 trebuchets being destroyed in those hours of siege. They had more numbers but we were more determined and in the end defended our keep.
That doesn’t mean you can’t have fun in smaller groups – I once captured a keep in a group of 4 while there were 6 defenders – they just weren’t determined enough to charge all at once and we pulled them from walls one by one and in the end took the keep.
I have never paid for a waypoint use in WvW. And if I’m not upgrading towers/keeps I always end up gaining money after I vendor blues and greens I get from loot bags.
Some nice fights last night – I always like when we can learn something from the opponents and we can learn a lot about group organization from The Unlikely Plan and VII. Too bad our zerglings kept falling for the same false retreat tactics over and over again – it is frustrating to see a trap being set and 30 people just rushing in it even though you are yelling at them not to do that…
Regarding the other affair at hills a day or two ago, no cheat there. The guilds involved are in good standings in our community and I believe them. If you want more infos about this subject, Mp me.
I would really like to know how did they get inside Lord’s Room without breaking down any door or walls then. I have screenshots of all doors at 100% health taken after we killed them in Lord’s Room. If it was work of a mesmer hidden in inner keep he must have been in there for 5 hours and for some reason decided not to portal people from his server inside when they were attacking our gates an hour ago before exploiting attempt. Your word that those guilds are in good standing don’t mean much if a member of that guild was found inside Lord’s Room while obviously abusing glitches – maybe they should take a look at their roster and root out bad eggs that are responsible for using exploits.
It looks like there are people out again who just like to ruin everybody’s fun. Several players from guilds Parental Advisory Explicit PVP (PAEP), SR and DoA (got just the tags of them) just happened to find themselves inside Lord’s room at Hill’s Keep. They would have took it while we were checking walls to see why is keep contested if not for our eagle-eyes elementalist who noticed Lord’s health bar falling fast.
We have had that keep for 6 hours at that moment and if a very patient mesmer was inside he must have had perma-stealth as I and other guildies have run around that keep a hundred times sieging it up and upgrading it. I hope Arena-net starts doing something about this kind of cheaters.

Did Gandara loose some wvw guilds? I’m surprised by their current lack of points and their weak performance in eb last night (at least in first couple of hours I was there).
We have lost a lot of WvW regulars due to Christmas/New Year stuff, I guess it is just more obvious in this reset then before. Besides, I can’t recall a reset after which we were in the lead – this is our usual situation even with more people on battleground.

Ranger for sure, Meteor Shower is very inconsistent. Ive dropped it on entire zergs and had it only hit 1 target since it selects its 5 targets at cast and if they move out of the circle it will hit nobody even if there are people still standing in the circle.
Base shortbow attack will hit a target 3 times standing on a wall edge before they react, couple this with the longbow AoE which never seems to miss anyone in the circle even with more than 5 players there and you have a badge farming machine especially if you take Quickening Zephyr.
I’m not really sure that is the case – in my experience meteor shower isn’t like usual AoE spells as every meteor can “connect” with target – you don’t even get a red circle when it is used against you. I must admit I haven’t counted when casting but I’m pretty sure I have hit more then 5 people with my meteor shower – it could have been same 5 people though…
I take double-teaming as a compliment – it means we are a threat.

To be fair I did not see Gandara players exploiting. Someone on TS/map said so considering the full sweep done ~20-30 minutes ago, it is normal to assume it was exploit. Based on your previous posts and some other info I will believe you this time. Lets say this time Hills was not exploited.
Now all go to bed and leave the map green and shiny

I’m proud of every fight we ever had, can you really say the same about your server’s behaviour in this matchup? You openly double-team and yet we are accused of being “ungentlemanly”. Here is a news-flash: there are people on our server who don’t celebrate Christmas – we have an all-Turk guild for example.
To them it was just another Tuesday -were they supposed to wait for a mail from other two servers saying it is ok to fight now? That is not how WvW works…

They aren’t double-teaming, they are just taking opportunity to more easily capture an objective while we are busy with other server. We do it as well when we can…
Oh yeah, I still fondly remember of “let’s get 25 stacks of drunk and then go capp some camps in enemy BL”. It took 10 of us 2 minutes to kill a skritt – miss, miss, miss, fall on your face, HIT, throw up all over the floor, miss some more…

PvE players will join WvW to do three things: to get map completion, to get monthly achievement and to get gift of battle if they want to make a legendary.
That is our chance to “get them hooked”. Be patient and don’t be rude to them – we have all been noobs in WvW. I know I have tried to take supply from camps and leave them at the supply depot in keep…
To me personally the biggest draw to WvW is that it is the biggest challenge in the game. Battle of skill and wits against people from other servers – really epic battles to either capture or hold heavily fortified keeps. Figuring out that one person can make a difference between victory and defeat… Also, I found a great guild through WvW and met a lot of great people there.
If you manage to get new people or passer-by who just wants to get 50 kills for monthly to appreciate what is so great about WvW you will maybe get a great new player.
Last night fight for Hill Keep on Gandara BL was really intense. I joked we should rename Gandara Borderlans “trebuchet graveyard” as in those 3 hours 20 trebs were destroyed untill the Riverside finally abandoned the attack. I must have done suicide-run a dozen times but for every treb we would destroy you would build 2 new ones. I guess Riverside eventually ran out of trebs or decided to try to attack something easier to take – Legendary Defender maybe
If I’m not responding to some emergency I’ll face the enemy and try to win. However, usually there is something more pressing to do and I’ll try to outrun them if possible in such situation.
And with my luck when I finally managed to find a combo that can kill a thief in 1v1 I keep running into teams of 2 thieves which I can only annoy for a while.
Epitaph for my elementalist should read “damn those thieves”.
@Sirius it was right thing to do and thank you for it. Such behavior ruins the fun for everybody who plays fair. If I discover a member of my guild doing that I would recommend to authorities to follow your example. Respect!
Today is a day that I most look forward all week in GW2 – reset night. However, as I’m in Europe that means me and my guildies have to wait until 1am to start the new matchup and after a first adrenaline rush and first skirmishes are over tiredness kicks in and pretty soon people are going to bed.
Is there a reason why European servers get their reset at midnight GMT? I realize that reset starts simultaneously with NA servers but is that really necessary? Arenanet has a policy of scheduling big PvE events at an hour that is most convenient for most players to attend it. Well, reset can be viewed as an event and a strong start is very important in WvW matches – can we get it at some more convenient time for most of the players on server? Since NA and EU servers are separated in two different “leagues” it doesn’t matter if they have different reset times and I think earlier start will mean more people will participate in hectic first hours of matchup and not just night owls.
We want GW to feel ALIVE, even more BREATHTAKING and you can reach that goal by adding more stuff to do in the PVE areas like mini games, but foremost: Include the WHOLE world of GW2 into the battles where we leave our blood ,sweat, tears and joy!
I doubt Arenanet would do that as it would cause grief and they worked hard to completely separate PvE from PvP. From some other games I know how frustrating is when somebody attacks you while you are reaping wheat or farming mobs. Besides – lorewise it would be hard to implement as 5 races are united against threat of elder dragons.
Such cheaters only hurt their server in a long run – on the day of when they pulled this first time AM borderland had queue because people wanted to “punish the cheaters” and focused on them instead of AR.
From what I heard there are two explanations:
-3 separate memsers were hiding for up to 10 hours inside towers and garrison and then used portal to bring in others and capp the keep/tower
-members of the guild called PRO used an exploit to bypass walls.
I love the announced changes, thank you Anet! Alt+F4 was heavily abused and this change would punish those who abused it.
Also, as a treb operator it felt frustrating that even starting to fix the wall is enough to close it. It should really require a bigger effort to close the hole in the wall.
And breakout events sound good but I hope it will be balanced. Just make the commander tough as an camp supervisor (unbuffed) so that the event doesn’t guarantee the capture of the tower but only facilitates it. I have been in situations when all exits are camped and sieged and it could get really hard just to break out of the spawn area, this will allow a determined players to establish a foothold in the map.
And for those that are complaining about this breakout event and benefits of leaving last tower remain uncaptured – why give enemy a tower from which he can treb your keep’s outer walls. It jeopardizes your other possessions, not to mention that in the end every point counts…

It is a good suggestion – when facing huge enemy numbers it can be good to see at first glance who is dead and who is not. Especially with culling issues.
