I just want to bring up an issue with Signet of the Hunt and melee pets. Without Signet of Hunt, melee pets can’t hit anything, i feel like that force the ranger to bring Signet of the Hunt which only left 2 utility slots, and that’s a problem. INCREASE PET’S MOVEMENT SPEED !!!!! so we don’t have to force to bring Signet of the Hunt all the time. FIX IT PLEASE !!!

Moment of Clarity – Gain an attack of opportunity for you and your pet on interrupting a foe. Daze and stun durations you inflict last longer. Interrupts caused by your pet do not trigger the effect. http://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/Moment_of_Clarit

Pet is part of the ranger, i think when pet interrupted, that should proc Moment of Clarity
There are some couple reasons behind this
1. Not all pets have CC skill, only Drakes and Canines do
2. The player doesn’t have control over the CC skill
3. Pets don’t always land their attack

Suggestion for pets

Give pets item slots, 2 or 3 slots. I’m not asking for stats boost, like ring or amulet… that pet can equip. They are addition attribute for the pet only
Example :
1. Bleed on critical hit (Yes, i knew there is trait for that, but it’s only for cat, drake, devour and shark)
2. Increase melee attack range ( hopefully it fix the hit and run problem )
3. Increase movement speed
4. Pet’s melee attack hit in a cone
5. Give quickness to pet whenever they perform F2
6. Breaks stun on swap
Etc

Yes, i knew some of the suggestions above are actual trait, but to be honest, there are better traits to be pick over the ones that buff up the pet

I would like to know some pros and cons of the LB and SB.
I’m in the process of making a legendary, i just wasn’t sure which ones to make, Kudzu or The Dreamer.

Ranger :
It would be awesome if Hide in Plain Sight is a stealth, it can go well with Remorseless on any weapons, not just LB.

For Ranger
Fortifying bond: I believe this trait should work both way, if the pet boons, the ranger should get a portion of the boons.
Ex : Red Moa F2(gain Fury) if you’re not in range of the skill, you missed it, same for Blue Moa, Fern Hound, Brown Bear,
Nature Healing: It heals you and the pet for 125 per second. It’s a grandmaster traits, and doesn’t scale with Healing Power.
Suggestion for Ranger
Ranger should get a trait that let them run (while in combat and using range weapon) backward, side way without the slow penalty. Make it easier for the Ranger to kite.
New trait, that whenever the pet use their F2, you also get the same effect of that skill. Scale with condition durations
Ex: Jaguar- Stalk: Gains stealth for 6 seconds, it stealth the ranger for X seconds.
Owl-Chilling Slash: Chill foe for 3 seconds, the Ranger next attack chill foe for X seconds

You said you’re a crit bleeder, im assuming you have high crit chance. It depend on what weapon u want to use.
SB/GS is better with power
Axe&Torch/Sword&Dagger(or Warhorn) would benefit more out of condition damage

I have my own idea: new types of pets that can’t deal or receive damage, and instead do the sort of thing that you’re suggesting. These could be things like frogs, lizards, mice, rats, weasels, snakes, etc.

I actually really like this idea. Pets that acted more like Warrior banners that followed you around and had an active ability of some sort….

Thank you. I have to admit, though, that some of my motive is quite selfish…I really want a pet weasel!

Suggestion for ranger's mechanic ( pet )

Hi guys

I play gw2 for about 7 months now, i really like my ranger, but when i first start my ranger, there is one thing that disappointed me the most is that you don’t have control over pet’s skills. You don’t know when pet will use its skills, you don’t know when it’s off cool-down, the pet use its skill in the wrong time etc…

My idea is you have the ability to swap into your pet(F5), YES i said u can become the pet itself, so you have the power to control when u want your pet to use its skills, when to knock-down, when to tail swipe, when to fear, when to daze… and as the human itself, you can make it run in whatever direction you desire it to, OR the human can gain stealth after standing still after 3 sec. Infinite stealth, if the human move, attack or the pet run pass 2000 range (pet leash range)the stealth will be remove. Think of the pet as a mini you, while you’re in pet form, you can attack, heal down ally, just like a regular character can do, but you’re limited with 4 skills (pet skills) and of course, if the human die while you’re in pet form, you also die.

Here are some examples why this idea would be useful:
In dungeon, Pve : i run Fern Hound and Wolf (the ones with fear) i usually put it on avoid combat. Why? because i use the Fern Hound for the AOE regeneration, Wolf for fear in case if my allies go down and surround with mobs. The problem is when i press F2 on Fern Hound, it either run to my target then pop the AOE regeneration or i have to stand still for it to pop its AOE regeneration. Same for the Wolf. It’s really annoyed me. With this new idea, you can swap into your pet, and use the skills you needed without all the current pet’s issues.

PvP : I actually run 2 canines(dogs), the Drakehound and Wolf ( the ones with fear ), if you run 2 canines(dogs) like me, you guys will noticed that while you’re in the down state, and you swap to the Wolf try to use its fear to buy yourself some times. The first thing, it’ll do is knock-down the person you targeted, not fear even though you press F4 and button smashing F2, praying for the fear to go off before u got stump. Now with idea, you can become the wolf, and actually use the fear first instead of the knock-down.

If you like this idea, please help spread this idea… and HOPEFULLY, DEVs might take a look at this thread!!! Thanks!!!

It’s a good idea, although it’s not new. The unfortunate thing is that pets could be a lot better just with better AI. That’s not really fixable at this point though, and WvW clashes negate even the best pet AI I’ve seen in other games. Perma-stow would go a long way towards fixing it, but as Treeline said, it may be something we never see.

Can u give me the link to the page that anet talks about not getting rid of pet o.o ??

I have to say this, my pet is awesome for pve, it will tank mobs, even veteran while i ‘m taking skill point, mobs distraction, etc… But when it come to pvp, pet is kind of mehhh. Especially in zerg vs. zerg, i feel like my pet ’s not going to do any damage, send it in there and it’ll die, not cool.

My idea is that you have the choice to either stow or activate your pet depend on the situation(Pve, PvP, Zerg vs. Zerg, 1 vs.1 …); when your pet is not on the field, you gain a special passive or buff depend on what pet you choose, and whenever you needed for the pet F2 u can activate them. You can stow or activate your pet whenever u like (even in combat).

Example:
Wolf – Terrifying Howl : When stow, you gain 10% chance to cause fear (1sec) upon getting hit (30sec cool-down). When activate, it still have the same F2, fear for 2.5 sec with 45 sec cool-down.
Owl – Chilling Slash : When stow, you gain 10% chance to cause chill (3sec) (25sec cool-down) on hit. When the pet is activated, it still have the same F2 .
Pink Moa – Dazing Screech : When stow, you gain 10% to chance to cause daze (1sec) upon getting hit (25sec cool-down). When activate the pet, Anet, you need to fix this, i can hardly land any daze with my moa.
Krytan Drakehound – Intimidating Howl- When stow, you gain 10% chance to snare your target for 1.5sec ( 30sec cool-down). When activated, it still have the same F2.
