I think it’s a temporary bandaid until they can actually figure out what the problem is.
It seems they can’t identify what is causing it,so they added a preventing measure.
Better than doing nothing imo.

We have a winner! This was an especially bad problem so we did what we had to do given the resources we had to solve this while the studio was closed for the new year/holidays.

This patch really made my mesmer unplayable due to how I perform my shattering combo. Guess I have to take a break from mesmer until the exploit is fixed.

I also hope you are banning exploiters. There are also thief exploit which allows them spam heartseekers while still invisible.

what does necro do at start of match with no life force to death shroud? what does thief do if he’s not sitting in SB? Rangers run around in sword a lot? loving the hypocrisy. GW1 Ranger is best class I played in any MMO.

So basically it’s taking you less than 0.25 seconds to hit 6 keys, while watching your surroundings on the screen (it would really suck, if you got hit by a stun, right when you were about to to go all Beethoven on them).

I’d go visit a doctor. Though I suggest one that treats mental illnesses, because you’re either lacking any semblance of temporal awareness or suffering from delusions affecting your judgment of others or yourself.

Its takes less then .25 seconds to hit Cry of Frustation and Diversion in a row. It takes about .018 for me (I did record it)

well you can dodge, you can #2 staff, you can blink

In tPVP you have portal not blink.

You can have no energy and cooldown on weapon swap.

Still macro users have advantage when being offensive. Its common to use Diversion after a shatter to disable the enemy example a guardian using blocks or thief trying to dodge burst with shortbow. A non-macro user can press Diversion to early thus missing the daze while a macro user will never ever take a mistake since he adds exactly .25 seconds delay between the shatter and diversion.

Arenanet Promotes macro uses. Legit Players that could do quick pressses (Like Shatter and use Divsion with Illusionary Persona to Daze) got nerfed. While people with macros can insert .25 delay and do the combo everytime perfectly.

Lets not mention you are unable to use diversion after a shatter if you gonna get bursted.

It doesn;t stop macros, it prompts macros so you wont take any mistakes while smashing shatter combos :O

Oh hai you met my mesmer quite a few time.

My problem is I am used to press Diversion using Illusionary Persona right after a shatter so I daze the target. Its easy to do it in less then .25 seconds even if you press F2 and F3 right after each other nearly together. This band-aid fix does not effect macro users but it effects legit players.

Like I said I have no idea how the bug works or how I do it, so I dont know if this fix will fix the bug.

It just makes me wonder as at this point you have no keys bound for moving – stepping side so how do you kite and hit someone while running at front and making him chase u ? also turnin around like this with Q E is really stupid move and hard.
“A” and “D” keys for moving left/right are there to help you kite, sliding aside still looking at enemy while they can’t catch you.

Bad nerf on .25 cooldown. I was able to use Diversion right after I press Cry or Mind Wrack in less then .25 seconds. Now I am unable too.

This actually promotes use of MACROS. A macro user can put .25 second delay between burst thus he never miss.

I have setup my Mesmer burst to slide my finger over the keyboard, so I could pull off the burst easy and instantly.

In the burst I used Daze with no clones do I disable the enemy for 1 second, followed by Decoy MI and Mind Wrack.

I was able to pull off the combo fast.

This band aid for macro users and people using exploit (which I have no idea how to do and I am not interested) is more of a hindrance to people who are able to press buttons fast. Try slide your finger over 6 buttons near each other and see how fast you can do it.

With this nerf, I am no longer able to use my burst and fast keystrokes. This band-aid fix to remove macro users and exploiters actually promotes the use of macros.

Macros could be set up to have .25 second delay, so you never ever miss a burst, without a macro you can miss a burst due to having too much reflexes.

Why is Arenanet promoting using a Macro to play mesmer? All i have to do is slide my finger on \zxcvb to do a full shatter burst (Cry, Diversion, Decoy, Mirror and Mind Wrack). Having a keyboard with low profile keys you can pull off this instantly.

Now I am unable to play since I took less then .25 seconds between Cry of Frustation and Diversion, while Macro players are able to still use exploit and put in .25 second delay between shatters, thus they never ever miss a burst.

The only problem with thieves the morons who use macro expoits that renders them invisible while spamming over 5 heart seekers

The ONLY problem with thief is the current exploit that uses a macro+haste to spam 5 seeker before you can be visible.

What is upsetting is that he got taken from 100% to 0 instantly (AOE on top of that and with low cooldown).
Note that mesmer could react to his burst because thief’s burst is fast but not instant.
Thief could not react to mesmers burst, because mesmer’s burst is instant.
What thief could have done is ‘predict’ how mesmer is going to react and then dodge before proceeding with his burst.
Note that ‘predicting’ what other player is going to do and take action in advance is completely different than ‘reacting’ to what he is doing.

Luckily, devs are fixing this, problem solved.

I keep meeting teams that keep swapping characters after they die. If you have fast PC its faster to just switch character then waiting for respawn.

People are also switching character after they die to change builds and even classes.

Why you are unable to change weapon out of combat while you are able to change character?

Ex. Switch character to Caltrops Thief. Solo Guild Lord, Switch back to proper roamer.

If you think that Mesmer and Thief are OP, then what you think of Rangers? He kills those classes while AFK. Its hilarious seeing thief or mesmer get instagib to traps or pets. I can also troll any burst with Ranger just using dodging from 1h Sword.

I am no longer interested in GW2 PvP. As I used to play LoL, I tried SMITE (clone of LoL). Before comparing them, let’s compare the beta tests.

The GW2 beta test was very long and they let players who pre-ordered debug the game for a very long time. And look what they end up with ! PvP is a mess for tons of reasons. Now, if you compare to SMITE which is actually in beta test, it is really more mature than today’s GW2. It is even much better than LoL.

And yes SMITE is a lot of fun compared to GW2. Arenas are very exciting. And everything is done to let you learn the game very fast (auto select items and skills) even if you are a casual as I am. And you face players of your level.

GW2 ? In tPvP you play against premade teams of average level 36 when you are 16. Oh yeah sure, that’s fun ! When I recently gave up PvP, I was the highest level in my team (16) when the levels of the opponent team were 42, 39, 39, 37, 10 … The more Arena waits to fix PvP issues, the deeper is the gap between casual gamers and hardcore gamers. At some point, they won’t any meat to feed them. The learning curve is going to be too hard.

The reason for LoL and Dota being so successful in comparison to GW2 is that LoL especially is casual friendly and anyone can pick up the game and enjoy it. The problem is that at the moment hot join just does not offer the same experience and then when people try and transition from pugging hot join games to pugging touraments they come arcoss pre-mades that should be in paid, but due to paid being so empty they queue in free and come across these people who have just joined the game and they stomp them.

Also the reason that you see near to no one watching the GW2 streams is a direct result of the above. If the lower/ mid tier pvp community are not enjoying pvp, why would they want to watch the streams for the high/top tier players?

noob friendly game = game where you can play and not being destroyed by hardcore players in first hour of your gameplay experience.

Rangers are not bad at all, many tPvP team are running rangers now quite successfully, they can provide excellent sniper support and close aoe support
On thir own they can last quite a while thx to the multiple escapes they’ve got
