I’m planning on moving servers from FoW to a higher tier server. I was thinking of Ring of Fire among others. I generally play at around 4pm gmt. Any advice? What do you guys think of Ring of Fire for the time I usually play?
Thanks
Aurora Glade is also a good option and potentially cheaper in transfer cost than Piken or FSP.
I switched to AG from FoW about a month ago for the same reasons as the OP (Hacktide…I will give them their TRUE name!) and I’ve been happy in WvW since.
That being said, it appears that the ones who were hacking on BT have moved over to UW now and are continuing with their antics over there.
Seems they are happy ruining T9…they probably reckon lower numbers means they can get away with their BS more easily.
So, I’d suggest that ANY server that is safely out of T9 range is a good bet at the moment.
With that in mind, AG was the choice for me based on cost and position in the tables.
Good luck wherever you end up, OP.
Thanks for the advice Theres so much choice of servers to move to
Couldn’t we say that the pale tree has a separate non brain washed consciousness from Mordremoth because Ronan and Ventari had such a close connection with the pale tree when it was growing that eventually the Pale tree developed a more “Human” consciousness separate from the Dragon, and therefore the Sylvari are not directly connected to the Dragon like the other Mordrem are?
We have a good community guild, you can contact me ingame if you join Piken, I will invite you
Thanks, will do
Yeah the others have covered it nicely, don’t forget to check out the server history so you can get a good idea of how they’ve been doing. Pay attention to the score difference and evolution.
For example if you only play in the morning if they generally have a score of say 65 at the times you play then they’re either very weak at that time or the other servers are simply zerging/Ktraining. Either way be prepared for a fight.
Also as someone who has transferred from T9 to mid silver it is a very very very big step you’ll be taking. Expect to get your kitten handed to you for a while before you adjust to the lag and different play styles.
I would say silver isn’t bad either, plenty of room for roaming even against the blobby servers.
Oh and don’t worry, most servers are not like the one we both have suffered at the hands of but shall not name ;-)
Cool, thanks for the advice I’ll check out the server history like you said. It’ll be nice not to have to go against the server that I will not name
Piken Square is a very good server, with a good and strong community. We have people all the day. At what time do you play ?
usually at about 5:00pm gmt onwards
Then you should be fine with us. The home border have few people, but always place for roaming. And if big ennemy group attack us, then the main group join to defend.
If you want to join the zerg you should find it generally on EB, sometimes on ennemy BL.
We only have blue tag on home border when we have big trouble or at prime time.
Sounds good I think I’ll move to Piken Square then, sounds like a good server

1. With the megaserver you can still play with anyone you want from any server you want in PvE.
2. http://mos.millenium.org/eu/matchups should give you an idea of server strength. They seem to be in a good spot.
3. There’s probably at least a small number of cheaters on every server.
4. None of that stuff should be impacted.
Thanks
So i’ve decided I’d like to move to a higher tear Server for WvW (I’m currently in FoW).
I quite like the look of Piken Square, but I wanted to ask a few questions.
(1) when you move servers, will you still be playing with the same people in PVE? Does the Megaserver system mean that I will still be with the same player community, I can stay in my currently Guild etc.
(2) Is Piken Square a good server for WvW. I want to move to a server that I can easily join zergs with, but I can also do roaming
(3) Is Piken Square matched up with servers who play fair and don’t use cheats etc.
(4) Also if I move servers will my Personal Story and living world content be saved so I can continue from where I was in the personal story for my characters who haven’t completed it yet?
Thanks guys
I think they’re dropping the cut-scene conversations. they weren’t that great, and the look got old fast.
I quite liked the cut-scene conversations Although I get your point. I suppose what I liked about them was that the player character spoke in them, and if they’re adding that to HoT I’m happy, cut-scenes or no cut-scenes
First of all I know something to do with the Elder Dragons means that you can no longer travel from Tyria to Cantha or Elona. However:
(1) Why do the Elder Dragons mean you can’t go to Cantha to Elona from Tyria
(2) What is happening IN Cantha and Elona? Have they been destroyed by the Elder Dragons or are they still intact?
I don’t know about flying combat. But it would be cool to have an add on that you can drop explosives while you glide by.
Yeah that would probably work better.
The gliding in HoT looks awesome! Will there be flying combat? Because that would be cool!
This has just happened to me as well, I just completed Steel Tide in chapter 8 and when I moved onto the next part of the story, I found myself back on the chapter 7 mission to escort Trahearne to the royal tombs.
Did you find a way to stop it or did you just do the personal story again from chapter 7?
I’ve had it explained to me how specializations work… but I still don’t really get it! Can anyone explain clearly how they work?
Yup, same with me. Also my character that had not yet completed the personal story but was on chapter 8 was put back to the beginning of Chapter seven.
Ok so I’ve got this weird bug with my personal story. Basically I got to the bit in chapter eight before the Arah final boss kill Zhaitan bit. For some reason though, it brought me back to the beginning of Chapter Seven! It there any way this can be fixed because I don’t really feel like playing though chapter seven all over again…
Oh…
Thats a lot of Golems
I’m guessing the person that built it was board and thought that the golems might be useful for the server later or something?
I want to be making my own builds myself, and customizing it to my favorite playstyle, not just copying apparently really OP builds that everybody else uses. I for this reason hope that the new trait system makes traiting what it is supposed to be: creating your own builds. If you were supposed to just choose from a limited set of OP builds, you would just select a button on the game for the build you wanted to use. But that’s not how it works, and the whole idea of a trait system is that you are meant to use it for your own playstyle. Does anyone agree with me?
I agree with you. Its much better when people create their own builds I’m glad some people feel the same as I do.
I’ve looked at the rankings and don’t get it. The servers at the top are tiers 1, 2 and 3 it seems to me, it doesn’t seem like the top ranks are all tier 1. Can someone please explain how this all works.
Also one nice thing about my server is the fact that I’ve never seen a full map but there are still people to WvW with.
Well I’m on a European server in the second to lowest server. However, I really enjoy it as once you find people that regularly WvW you can form up groups in WvW really easily. I encounter quite a few encounters daily (I think anyway) but I can’t comment really because I haven’t been on a top ranking server. There are still loads of fights. Roaming is easier with less people (less zergs), servers never really feel “dead”, you just need to go on the right map.
Are there any casual WvW guilds on the fissure of Woe server that are recruiting? I have a great deal of experience in the PVE aspect of GW2, and I have picked up the basics of WvW (I still have a great deal to learn ). If your’re recruiting that’d be great
I’ve been playing this game for over a year now and my main is an ele. However, I can’t get to grips with how combo finishers and combo fields work. I use a staff on my ele if that helps. Can anyone give me some tips?
This is my build for my elementalist. I’m using a staff and I made to build basicly so I could stack as much might as possible. I selected my utilities carefully so my traits work well with them. I’ve only just started trying it out but it seems to be going well. What do you think about it?
Heres the build: http://gw2skills.net/editor/?fFEQFAWnMISLD20AGOAfEGgAQC3IQChlCV89XA-e
Well you can come up with a rotation of your own if you want, but the community worked on that for a fairly long time so the chance is that we come up with better rotation already just by the time and number of people that already worked on it.
Ideally, you could check for a tested rotation and then adapt it to your gameplay, skills, trait, etc
Thanks
Are you talking about PvE or PvP (or WvW) ?
PVE
Should I make up my own rotation then? Or look up a rotation?
Lots of people talk about a “rotation” of skills they use, but I just kind of use the skills I think would be useful at the time (e.g. immobilise enemy with shock wave and then lava font them if they are melee and want to get into close quarters combat, healing rain if low on health, Magnetic Aura if enemy is shooting at me etc.) Is this the right thing to do or do I need a proper “rotation” of skills I need to use to play effectively. I’ve been playing for more than a year now so I tend to do ok gameplay right. I just wanted to see if I’m fully utilising the elementalists potential (ele is my favourite profession)
Elementalists are my favourite class and so I am very much looking forward to seeing their new weapon for HoT! My speculation is shortbow
The fact that you have to kill a load of Zhaitans mega powerful minions (e.g. mouth of zhaitan, eye of Zhaitan etc.) to weaken it indicates that the minions of Zhaitan are “part” of Zhaitan. What I mean here is do they have an individual conciousness of their own or are they simply part of one big hive mind that is Zhaitan?
Hello.
I can’t seem to find any zergs in WvW and I’d really like to be able to join some Zergs in WvW. Whenever I ask, people tell me to look for the commander symbol on the map, the little blue triangle. However, often the commander symbol is not there and I can’t seem to find any big teams to join. Does anyone know what I’m doing wrong?
How do you create custom pvp servers?
Do you see a colored “pin” on your map inch? It would look kind of Dorito shaped and be either red, yellow, purple, or blue. by the way, what server are you on?
My server is fissure of woe
I’ve hardly done any WvW at all, but a problem I come up with is I can’t find any groups of people or Zergs. How do I find people in WvW?
I think mordremoth should be done as a dungeon. A new dungeon. I think it would simply work that much better if there are other people there. Perhaps about half an hour to get to mordremoth and then a half an hour boss fight. That would be epic
At end game if the game is too easy it gets boring, so having to try a few times to complete a difficult event for example, in my opinion, makes the game a lot more interesting. Also the more skills used the better in my opinion I am much looking forward to the higher difficulty of Heart of Thorns. I understand your point though, the game needs to have a balance of difficulty and fun. I think its got it right at the moment though

As rytlock is the first reverent, that means that, I’m assuming, he became a reverent after seeing the Mists after trying to find the sword. Therefore I assume he is the founder of the reverent class, and so it only seems probable that reverents might start the game at level 80 and will have skiped living world season 2 and personal story. Does anyone else agree or am I just overthinking?
If they are raids, they will be GW2 style raids, and therefore awesome.
Also, another question. Will the HoT map be loads of zones, or just one zone, as it would be cool if it was a few new zones, so it is a Truly MASSIVE jungle.
I guess heart of thorns is going to continue the story from Season 2, but is it going to be “season three”, or is it going to be one big story like the personal story was?

inb4:
rangurs suck"
Rangers are great
(plausible option?)
My ele is now level 80, but I have not really sorted out a proper build for him (random bits of gear, random traits, etc.) I like the staff skills, so if a staff gets good condition damage, that would be my ideal weapon set. But I was just looking for general advice for the best DPS build possible. I like using fire, so I’ll be looking for lots of burning damage. Also, what traits are best. I mainly do PVE at the moment, but I may try PVP at some point, so any suggestions for PVP builds are welcome as well.
Thanks guys (went a bit crazy with the smilies there lol)
Hi guys I’ve made a ranger, and today I revived a Shortbow. I loved the skills on it, and especially love how you cause sooo much condition damage if you flank opponent. Soooooooo if anyone has got advice on what sort of build I should have. Should I go for condition damage gear?
I sent a request some while ago regarding issues of the game disconnecting. Soon after I found out that the internet connection in my area is not very good, hence why the disconnects happen. However, I would like to request that the game keeps attempting to re-connect unless you choose to stop it doing so. This is because when I have been doing a story instance for 45 minutes and then the game disconnects, it is very annoying because I have to start the whole thing again. If the game kept trying to reconnect, I would be able to keep playing the instance without having to start again. This is how it works in the first Guild Wars game, and I think it turns a massive factor effecting enjoyment of the game into a miner issue.
