Part of any move is having a unique animation. Ideally. Those not having that yet should get it.
A Mesmer’s Mimic is a very noticable shieldwall, a Warrior’s 100 Blades is a very unique hit animation. An Engineer’s kits sport an identifyable kit and weapon. Take that away, and the skill can no longer be easily identified by an enemy because there’s no 60+ weapon skins for the Flamethrower they’d all have to be able to identify.

Well,as someone (and I) stated in two other posts is the idea that Engis can get an icon under their health bar which represents the different kits instead of those hobo sacks. It’s true with your examples with the warrior and mesmer, thought you didn’t bring up the Ele. They don’t have magma running down their face when they are attuned to fire,water under their feet or something like that. Instead they have icons under their health bar which tells us WHICH attunement they are tuned to. Before you say,“but the eles have recognizable attacks!”…pfft..then what do you call a flamethrower in your 2 hands shooting out a 4 meter long flame…?If that’s not recognizable enough then I don’t know.

Okay,question time.
I notice that in the new achievements panel you can see when you will get the different rewards. Two of these chests offer ONE zenith weapon skin each.
Do we only get TWO out of the available weapon skins?O.o
Do we have NO chance at getting them all? O.o
Are we forced to CHOOSE between our favourite weapons? O.o

True but a mesmer is no good at holding points since they rely on constant stealths and have non existant knockbacks. Also, I think (not 100% sure) mesmer retaliation is not an AOE buff like guardian’s which is why grenades/traps suffer so much from it.[/quote]

Ahhh.forgot that the mesmer retal wasn’t aoe, BUT,with that build I’m sure you can hold points,not forever but at least for a good amount of time. It really depends on the number of people engaging you. 3-4 you might make it,but 4 +…no chance solo.

They did actually state it? O.o If so,could you post a link? This is seriously the only thing keeping me from playing an Engi >_<

Yeah, that Gs burst build sure was funny for 5-6 sec ,but after that it’s 30 seconds of picking up flowers and gazing at the wide open blue sky. >_<
I’ll listen to your advice and let him be…and possibly try to come up with something contributive to the ranger profession build wise. Though it seems dark now.

Since I appearently can’t just reply “no.” I’ll have to write you this sentence.

“The other thing guardian bunkers bring that other professions can’t match is retaliation. Retaliation can singlehandedly wreck certain DPS builds and can actually lead to a very large damage output which makes a guardian bunker capable of applying DPS pressure while running a pure defense build.”

Have you even seen the Immortal Mesmer build by Pyroatheist?…..
Combine the mesmer 15 sec retal and a guardians whirling wrath, you can almost sit back and laugh as he kills himself.

Alright,as all the other threads stated this game plays a big role in the cosmetic section. The ability to customize your character the way YOU want is something I’ve missed from lots of other MMOS,but hey,Guild Wars 2 finally implemented that! (I know,guild wars 1 always had it too :P)
With this in mind,I checked up on the Engineer playstyle and simply fell in love with it at first sight.
Plus,trenchcoats with guns and shields? (hint hint,awesome!).

Before I created one though I checked up on the different kits, of course, to see if there were some way you had an option to hide it. It came like a bull rush in my face. NO.NO AND NO. There is appearently NO way to hide your kits so you can display that epic shield or gun in battle/out of battle. No,you get this “Hobosack” (Kudos to the original creator of that nickname!) which completely overshadows your shield and rifle. What the kitten A-net? I thought you said you could customize your character the way you wanted! Q_Q

Now,I saw these two solutions at a couple of other threads here;

-“Make an option so that we can hide our kits”,similar to how we choose to hide our backpacks. But oh noes! Now people can’t see what kit you are using in sPvp and WvW!….. -_-’
-“Add a symbol under your character portrait similar to what elementalists have when they are attuned to the different elements”, BAM,problem solved!

So,A-net,I’m very disappointed that you haven’t done anything with it.
Or maybe you HAVE looked into it,but please for the love of Balthazar say something to the people!
Give a little wink (;D) or something to signal that you HAVE picked this matter up and ARE doing something with it. All these threads about them,all these Engies who wants their smelly Hobosacks off their backs,don’t just ignore them. As a future Engie I’d like this to happen.

Can’t really decide one thing or the other with so many different opinions O.o But as convinced as I am I’m literally minutes away from deleting my ranger and go easy mode warrior >_< Can’t stand this anymore x)

But yeah,when you put it like that,I’ll go and find myself a nice comfy corner to sit down in and Q_Q Might as well delete the toon if it is so kitten.

I tried this build in sPvp and it works wonders the first few seconds IF you can land GS 2. But if you fail you are pretty much useless until your might chain comes off CD again. So pretty much it’s not THAT viable right? In terms of survival, you might be okay against ONE player in WvW who is not that experienced (knows not to dodge rangers GS2). Vs 2 people,I haven’t tried that but I can imagine you won’t win any 1v2,1v3 fights due to the relatively low time your might is up O.o But those few awesome seconds with 15 stacks of might is pure fun,I bet most enemies didn’t see 8-15k crits coming their way from a ranger GS 2 Really takes them by surprise.

Okay,I just got my ranger to 80,ready to gear him up and go WvW. Already at lvl 1 I was excited for WvW and planned that this was something I wanted my GW 2 endgame to be. !HOWEVER!
When I look through the ranger forum I can’t manage myself to overlook all these posts about the ranger being kitten at that,is kitten at everything,and that nobody wants a kitten ranger in Dungeon groups.

From the info I’ve gathered over these posts I can list these points:
-The ranger suck at Dungeons;
-Dungeon groups doesn’t want a ranger because he can’t contribute with enough DPS as these self proclaimed kings of PVE yell at us. ( You know what class I’m thinking of)
-The ranger suck at WvW;
-They suck at range,they suck at melee.
-The ranger is awesome in sPvp.
-’Nuff said.

So this is very interesting. I’ve heard stories about full groups with rangers clearing Fractal lvls and dungeons, and I can list a few youtube videos with WvW Ranger solo roaming, where they certainly do not kitten.

What is the problem here? Is it that the people who are complaining actually can’t play their class/understand other classes? Or are the ranger kitten at everything and all the above videos is just pure luck?

On a last note: I KNOW that these wvw vids go back 2-5 months but hey,face it, the ranger players have ALWAYS complained at the rangers >_<

So I’ve finally managed to fill up my HOM with some statues/minis. Now,if only the HOM calc worked >_<

The HOM calculator is bugged beyond comprehension. It’s fine when I type in my Gw1 name to see my accomplishments but the next page that loads up is just a load of kitten. The stuff that SHOULD come up is not showing,it only shows number of HOM points I’ve aquired (which I think is bugged too…?) and different numbers (8/10…3/10..etc etc. you get the idea) over my tapestries -_-’.

Do anyone else have the very same problem,eventually a solution to fixing it?
Because this really grinds my gears!

I understand how you feel Amber, I’ve been there as a runner in GW1 but I have to agree with Danikat and Pixel. It is kinda’ weird to buy the game only to skip lots of content,but one thing I’d like though is the player based market we had in GW1 (right now I’m in Kamadan actually selling),it gives you the feeling of being more interactive by actually selling/buying items yourself. In other words,I’d like the TP out of the game.

Hey!
So,I have played GW1 in the past but not for much. While players filled up their HOMs in preparation for GW2 I was one of those who didn’t own Eotn. Therefore I had no halls to fill with my great deeds.
I only aquired Eotn AFTER GW 2 launched. So, I had finally bought the game and could therefore fill up my HOM. Now,if it would only be that simple.

I have no idea what to do nor where to start. I know I know,there are guides. Sure they explain how you aquire the points but not how time consuming or the kitten load of effort you have to put in it.

Therefore,I ask of you,the Gw2 community who HAVE played Gw1,who HAVE filled up their HOM. Where do I start if I want the relatively easiest way to toss in 30 points. And if possible sell me/give me anything that could help me fill it up.

Of course I have tried in game in Gw1 but,really,there is absolutely NO people there. Tried LA,Kamadan,Kain. City,the AB outposts AND the pvp islands. Close to 0 people there! So no help from them >_<

On a last note,I got 10 points already,and though 30 points is not necessarily needed I’m happy with just getting the last 8 points for my Heavenly bracers
