Im surpriced we cant tame them, why not they look like worlves, maybe give them some condition damage. Mostly I want one for the looks and I like the wolf pet group.
I have ranger, but i also have mesmer and guard and I would pick those 2 before my ranger for effectivness in PVE.
If you really want pve You need a 2hand sword(mabe axe not tried)
Bows doesnt cut it when its more than 1 mob, melee weapons cleave thats alot of extra damage..
Wvw, I really like the ranger though.. traps and blinding roots rocks.

iDefender is my savior, 10/10 for me there. Goes extremely well with iSwordsman giving him the -50% dmg buff. Send both together into a small group in WvW and they will cause havoc.
interesting, never actually used dual sword much since i need the focus for wvw and the warden with reflect is awsome. but iv allways felt that the swordsman put out the hurt, atleast underwater.
I might try it out and get some kind of speed runes.
About the other phantasms the disenchanter comes out alot in pve when the bouble isnt enough, like cacudeus manor vs the necro hes great.

I changed my runes recently :
6 runes of the soldier .> 6 runes of air.
I didnt feel i needed soldier when i went 30 valor
The one boon i really care about duration is swiftness, but other than that im not sure if going over 2 and 4 something else is worth it..
I have 120 fractal coins and stil level 2, and im not doing lvl 1 fractals.
I demand i get the level is deserve, they change the game to include new gear and im not allowed to be on same gear level no matter what I do.
I dont even like doing more than 1-2 dungeons a week, im a wvw:er.

It happends to me numerous times, I have no idea how to level up.
And thus I havnt bothered to do them since, tried today again and nothing.
I can do lvl 7 fractal with team and mostly carrying the team and yet im not allowed to be more than lvl 2 personal?
yes i have leveled up once but then i did 6 in a row..
I get coins but Im stil same level..

I dunno why you would use anything but healing spring?
It removes conditions, its the reason im healing half the time anyway.
i quit the game mostly because of class imbalance. or rather roll thief or quit mentality the developers have placed before me while at the same time removing the fun from both mesmer and guardian.
To me the game is Wvw, if its not good, then im out.
Alt+F4 and other issues doesnt help.
I check these boards, because i want to see if there is a patch that fix stuff.

Don’t listen to everyone saying how OP the thief is, they’re just butthurt because they have glass builds and are undergeared so backstab does 8-10k dmg to them.
Thiefs ARE good but they prey on players who don’t know what they are doing (and the stealth bug makes them invisible for longer then they are supposed to be which is a HUGE issue in WvW)
Elementals in PvE are squishy but good, Thiefs in PvE are god-like when played properly.
Backstab hit tank speced warriors for 9k+ in spvp. just check the structured pvp forum for proof, so what are you talking about?
Toughness has 0 impact, roll thief and faceroll.
I use dwayna sigils on my mesmer for similar results
They also have regen procs(protection for them)
I pretty much only wvw/pvp with mesmer, any “minmaxer saying its not too wonderful is simply wrong”, its a fantastic sigil for pvp and I can see it work on ranger too, im using undead runes for my build though.
Iv been thinking of trying em out, but since it takes like 3 seconds for the spirit active ability to cast I gave that up.
I think the best way to show this isnt acceptable is to stop playing or play another class.
That will make this into hard statistics that they will see. Playing a class in hope it gets better wont do anything, play something you have fun with be it another game or another class.
They felt shortbow did to much damage with QS so they nerfed the damage.
Whats the big deal, get over it allready, is not like the class changed.
Rather play my ranger than my mesmer, and yes im shortbow.

thieves are the most dominant class, you make no sense. if you want to fight with your hands tied behind your back dont drag me with u.
So basically your saying mesmers should not do wvw if they dont have full condition spec,,

You shouldn’t, it’s very ignorant of the facts (at least on thief).

Thief backstab needs to be nerfed into the ground.
Il play thief in structured pvp until they do,
The whole mesmer fix was entirely needed. They were the ONLY class in the game that didn’t play by the rules.
Every other class needed LOS. Not mesmers.
Every other class could be blinded. Not mesmers.
Every other class could be blocked. Not mesmers.
It was a complete fire and forget class. Now the mesmer has to actually pay attention. Any well-timed dodges/blocks will shut down a shatter mesmer. It’s going to be much more difficult to get off a shatter combo outside of spamming dodge for illusions..
you serious? ever seen a elementalist miss his “fire storm” because of line of sight or because he was blinded?
If anything they need to nerf rogues damage so you actually can be a “tank” instead of getting 2 shot like everyone else.
Instead they nerf reflects and protection for guardians, so thieves have it even easier.

or mesmers will be useless in wvw, its enough that you have to work twice as hard in
pve, now they get nerfed for pvp too? whats left,
why work harder when you get same result while being half afk on aother class.

um the reason I use short bow is because it has a snare, has nothing to do with damage.. people just love running away so you have to have something to stop them..
Shortbow is for chasing, long bow is for pushing ppl away.
Its rather wierd there were no patch notes on ranger, anyone know why?
im sure there are some minor tweaks that could been done atleast.
I use shortbow, greatsword and traps.
Iv been thinking about axe/horn vs greatsword.
The axe/horn is probably better but i like having some melee and 2hand sword feels like a more survivable option.

I think you are joke at pvp if u cant understand the power of this skill.
1*Making them burn their cc break on this is well worth it.
2* their cc break may not be up., not everyone is a thief, not everyone play with cc break since they are tough enough to last vs normal cc.
3* The fact u need to kill the root or be stuck makes it better than dare i say any other cc skill FOR WvW,
Even the moa bird cant stand up to this in power, since you can run,dodge and get away while u are transformed.
Now fix the damage on it..
Iv played hunter in wow and white lion(melee ranger) in warhammer.
What can i say, I like having a pet around and im not afraid to go into melee.
I think making the pet skills more responsive would go a long way to balance this class. since right now the pet doesnt add much when it matters(dungeons, wvw, pvp)
I also find it strange that the trap mastery is in the full crit/crit damage tree.

My 80 guardian is on hold, i dont mind changes in power of skills, but making stuff less fun as in longer cd is not good.
Atleast fix hammer, the 3rd auto attack takes a year to complete and simply NOT FUN, dont care if it would do 2000000 damage.
if there ever was a reason to pick a race for a elite, this is it. Cant belive you complain its awsome.
focus and teleport. I dont see not having one of those as an option for wvw.
I use
2hand sword and sword focus build.
I dont see why some phantasm should have shorter cd than others so np change it.
But really fix all the broken stuff first, so there are some more options.
Sounds like you do wvw, hope your group have multiple run buffs since you dont.
I sure cant stand slogging around without either focus or teleport(maxed range/cd)
agree, i think all forms should have a signature ability that cant be removed.
Bear = stability
wolf = heal debuff.
raven = retaliation
snow leopard = frenzy (more damage take more)
edit : my norn is a guardian.
I use snow leopard for Wvw to stealth or bear to interupt/charge
In pve iv never found a use for any form, and here i thought they were for pve since they are DISABLED in pvp.
Well with like 700 condition damage its around 1500 damage so i wouldnt think so.
Im trying out the torch in wvw atm
The torch is there for me to get away, that simple, damage is neglible.
I even have the trait for 1 sec extra duration on stealth.
My problem with mesmer is that the traits dont do what they say.
Torch traited has never removed any conditions for me..
I dont think the norn racial is useless at all.
On my guardian, i dont really like any of the class elite skills so I use my bear form.
It doubles my health pool and gives a sweet charge and interupt.
The damage could be alittle higher though, its an elite form after all.
its one of the main reasons i changed to great sword.
The one hand sword snare is so unreliable.
ok so atleast the wardens feedback work, like i said i wasnt sure what exactly a focus skill was, though in pvp, the wall is used to either run past or drag people in with, will try the skill again.
Im using the glamor skill “null field” alot and the extra duration from trait must be so small you dont even notice it even if you try count it.
Stil the torch needs to remove conditions on myself, then i could actually see it being good since it would free up a slot that i otherwise have for condition removal.
Im frusttrated that some traits dont work and that the top skills are overall pretty bland
Temporal enchanter: DOES NOT WORK, big dissapointment.
warden’s feedback : DOES NOT WORK, or iv not found a single focus skill.
malicious sorcery : what exactly is +50 malice? im guessing might.
Looks like the whole trait tree for inspiration is untested.
cleansing conflagation : does not remove any conditions on myself, not tested for allies. If it doesnt affect myself its useless.
