Mounts (purely for vanity)

A-net shot themselves in the foot by not allowing mounts with speed buffs. Think about how they are trying to filter people back into the world with more events. Now think about how many people way points take out of the world. Surely then mounts are a way to filter people back into the world? I would rather ride my mount across a few zones if it had a speed buff rather than using a way point. I don’t get why people are opposed to them.

Maybe for wubwub a 3 minute cooldown after each time you enter combat so that is it only used when you have been out of the fight for so long or when you die so you can get back to the fight faster.

Jumping puzzles in the cultural cities

I think to bring more people through cultural cities there should be a jumping puzzle in each one like in LA.

DR – The queens observatory – Jumping on the planets and stars that spin around. Think frogger meets total wipe out.

The Grove – Some sort of underground luminous cave JP, maybe around the roots of the pale tree?

Rata Sum – Jumping through the rafters of a workshop, college libraries, golem battle arenas, you get the idea, kind of sneaking above watching asuras at work.

Black Citadel – Since it is built on the ruins of Rin, maybe some catacomb like JP with some lore hidden in there too relating to the GW1 mission?

Hoelbrak – A JP through a brewery where you need to use certain ales as a buff. Think speed buff for a big jump and then a shrinking potion to squeeze through cracks.

Just some cool ideas, lets hear yours!

7-Man Dungeons

Two person content would be much more useful than seven.

I’m not saying you’re wrong, I’m just curious?

Maybe what we are looking for then is to be able to do a dungeon with 2 to 7 people? My only problem with two person content is it takes the social aspect further towards the soloesque style of Gw1 rather than a more party friendly game.

I actually have to agree with Stooperdale, I find it hard sometimes to find a whole group of five when it gets late.

I hear you kipz, but I have to ask, why 7? That seems like such a random number.

The original reason that we got from the devs is that more than 5 player would clutter up the UI. The example of 7 people is just to put that theory to rest as the edited screenshot I posted shows. 7 party frames hardly clutters up the screen. 8 or 9 might, but 7 not so much.

Neat, I should be getting my legendary this weekend and was thinking of going for the Fractal torch next. This thread kind of makes me want to hold off for a while until they maybe address the grind.

50 Pristine + 1 shard + 3 globs + 5 vials sounds about spot on to me. Make them buy able at the FotM vendor.

I don’t agree because there are much more important things to be done. For example, Ranger pet AI.

Also, even if I did want it, it wouldn’t be just add two more players to every instance. They would have to figure out how to balance for seven people instead of five. This would be extremely time consuming and would just create more problems for them to fix.

TL;dr I don’t think they should spend their resources on something like this.

There are separate groups for balance and dungeons so I hardly think the dungeon team is going to be working on ranger pet AI.

Secondly they already have a dynamic scaling event system to account from one to one hundred people let alone 5 to 7.

Just to hear me out. I’m not saying add this to all the current content. I’m saying bring out new dungeons that can have either 5 or 7.

7-Man Dungeons

So, earlier last year we got an official statement that they weren’t looking into higher group dungeons because of the UI.

Looking at the picture I have included, this reason seems absolutely trivial to not seriously think about going in that direction.

I have fun with 5-man, don’t get me wrong but the potential to include more friends (I have more than 5 friends who I play with) instead of exclude them is a great concept.

Quite often my guild will 4/3-man things just so we can play with each other.

This is not raid content. This is content that can include more friends and allow many more intricate encounters that cannot be done because 5 is too low of a number.

If you agree with this post please voice your opinion. If you do not agree, I am not saying all content be 7 man, but to have a choice between 7 and 5. If you still don’t agree please say why constructively.

What I dont get is how is PvE different to Wubwub? Each zone has NPC’s, events, and other things to kill. They seem the same to me just without being able to attack another player.

Surely they can roll this out into the towns first? The main reason I hate culling is that it makes LA seem like a ghost town.

It has been quite some time now since FotM has been introduced and although it did shine some light on new dungeon ideas, which I hope have been taken into account, I’m now wondering what’s next?

Will there be a new dungeon in the next Flame&Frost patch or will we have to wait 2 months from now to finally see some new PvE content?

Just to add my personal opinion to the new AC changes, this doesn’t count as content. This counts as fixing things that didn’t need to be fixed. I’ve already run AC 100’s of times and the though of “slightly changed mechanics” adds nothing to lure me back in there. It’s still the same 3 paths, the same bosses, the same outcome.

I really hope that Anet gets rid of the Path 1/2/3 gimmick and produces one big, truly explorable dungeon. Think how great Arah could have been if it was something like Black Temple or Stratholme. I like the objectives of an adventure panning out but the overall lasting effect of them shares no intrest to the overall objective of re-taking Arah. It doesn’t feel like out characters really accomplished much.

One thing that I feel shines about WoWs dungeon approach is that it follows a story line of lore really well. I want to continue with Arah! [spoiler]Maybe Zhaitan was only temporarily weakened and we now get to go back and finish the job the way it should have been finished! A really intricate and memorable fight, not just press 2 and let the guns do the work. I want to use MY build, MY characters weapons and feel like I have accomplished something. [/spoiler](Story mode spoiler)

Give us a dungeon the size of Arah, with 8 – 10 bosses linked to lore, with difficulty and mechanics on par with lupus and we have one hell of a dungeon. Also no blue drops.

To my knowledge healing power isn’t taken into account when you are ressurecting other players. I think this is just plain wrong. Now with the addition of no waypointing when in combat I think healing power should definitely be accounted for as It could make healing power builds more viable and also help deviate away from meta builds.

It just seems stupid that the stat is ignored when you are actually healing someone.

I want to use it just because I feel the current zoom shows too much floor instead of scenery. Also during dragon fights you can actually see the dragon instead of “feet the dragon"

Cultural city hearthstone

Think about it, the only reason people will go to their cultural cities now is to get the cultural weapons/armour even though it has everything LA has! (except a guild reward vendor).

So how do we breathe life into the cultural cities? Hearthstones! We already have one for EotN so why not make one for each race?

Everyone just goes to the heart of the mists > LA anyway to save on costs so why not kill two birds with one stone.

- we get less loading screens
- we spread the population around the map and not just in LA

I don’t understand why Anet would waste resources on changing something that isn’t broken. We have tons and tons of other dungeon bugs yet effort is put into fully changing probably one of the nicest dungeons there is.

Troll is just a joke. Take away the ability to fear us off the edges and its ok.

Won’t be doing AC for a while now. This is from a group of 5 who can down lupus in 1:46.
We have our kitten together but half of the mechanics are just annoyances rather than difficulty.

PROTIP:

1. Make a test server.
2. Invite PvE players to attempt new dungeon bosses in a Colosseum type arena. Just 5 players vs the boss on a plain battlefield. (FotM style)
3. Let us help actually give feedback before things are released.

- Have to navigate through the laggy as hell guild menus to even find what you are supposed to be doing. With a 500 member guild and limited bandwidth on your behalf loading the 500 members every time you press G sucks the life out of your game literally.

- No hints or indication of what to do, when they are activated we should get an event box on our HUD, just like normal events.

- All around clusterkitten. I understand it is supposed to be a scavenger hunt type of event but with around 100 members all spread out across a map. If the bounty is activated, everyone not there gets no reward at all. (only let guild officers/leaders activate them, other people can still join in but another guild pretty much almost ninja’d the bounty earlier when out guild members still hadn’t got any rewards)

- Weekly cooldown. The only problem I have with this is that It is going to take a very long time for guild to unlock all events to even start thinking about it taking less than 6 weeks to get the ascended accessories.

- Spank not even tank. Are these bounties supposed to be such a cakewalk or actual content?

Most importantly, stop with the gated content. Having to do pointlessly easy tasks each day is not an appropriate way to get the highest level gear in the game. That should come with skill and effort not just be handed out to everyone because they petted 5 cats every day for a few months. Please also stop with the different tokens for everything. Imho the guild events should give laurels to keep different currency to a minimum. Please add harder PvE content that rewards laurels too. Allow us to exchange say 250 Arah/CoE tokens for a laurel each. It will give the community an incentive to move and try harder content instead of running babby mode AC and CoF.

I think above all else we need more contact with development/developers in a physical sense. Perhaps a selective closed community beta server for us to try things out before releasing them to the public. Think of how useful that would have been with Halloween and the karka event? All the promises of “polished” content all but falls short.

The culling was never this bad/non existent in BWE1 so if thats anything to go off Its the packets that anet is limiting from their side

I can see you easily getting sub 1:30 with lucky skill rotation, bit more offense and bit better game-play.
Curious, what build Warriors are using? And have you considered elite Banner on Warriors?

Not really sure on the other guys builds but admittedly I, as the asuran guardian of the group am gimped for the sole reason that I enjoy to play that way.

I use

- 0/5/30/30/5
- Magi (Power/Vitality/Healing power) gear
- 3 Monk / 3 Water
- Soldiers main hands / Knights off hands (Scepter / Shield : Sword / Torch)
- (Because of the crap selection of ascended gear for guardians forcing you between toughness or precision when as a guardian you need both) I use:
– Ascended Soldiers neck
– Ascended Wayfarer/Zerker rings
– Exotic Cleric/Knight accessories
– Wubwub Cleric backpack with Knight jewel
(Ideally I would like to keep my Soldiers neck, gain 2 infused Knights rings with +healing infusion and the same for my Accesories/Backpack.)

I enjoy the way that my character plays 100%, great survivability and altruistic healing works well (would work better with the right accessories). But in no means have I specced myself to bring lupus down. I really don’t enjoy the hammer/GS meta builds before you suggest them.

The game is a grind, if you finish dungeons faster you can yield more gold. Unfortunately this is more a problem with the economy and core design of the game that causes this effect.

The truth is, there’s simply too much traffic on this forum for us to try and respond to everything.

While this may be true, I think I speak for many people who feel that the participation in all of the forums is way below par. In a sense we are kept in the dark a lot of the time, especially on hot topics that the community feel strongly about. Maybe a real developers blog instead of us having to wait for patch day to find out whats coming next? Take the most recent patch as well as the karka patch. Quite a lot of damage to the games community could have been avoided if there was an open response to topics instead of the textbook “no comment”. I understand yes you can’t promise things but I feel that this is taken to a whole new level instead of being in sync with the people who play the game.

Same happened to my guild. On release we had 500 members, probably around 200 people online all the time. Now we get around 30 and then about 60 at peak times. Our highest ranked players who already have their legendaries and T3 quit to go play other MMOs because there is a severe lack of good PvE content.

So 5 runs of CoE, 2 before and 3 after the reset.

5 rares, 0 ectos.

0 cores.

0 lodes.

I get the feeling i’ve been on DR ever since the 28th patch. Currently there is less grind in a THPS game than there is farming CoE for cores. Please award a soulbound lode after the completion of all paths. Gives people an incentive to not leave, and also means at maximum you have to run all 3 CoE paths 100 times for the cores you need for a legendary.

I used the recipe gift of energy yesterday, and It is nowhere to be seen in my crafting pannel. Yes I have 400 artificer before you ask. Its like it just did nothing.

Healing power rework

To start of I’m not entirely sure where to post this as it has healing power and dungeon topics involved.

As a guardian, I enjoy gimping myself to play the cleric/magi roll ninja and help heal the group and to also dish out boons with crits. Now what gets me is the scaling of healing power and that it “hits DR after 500 points”. I think with the new waypoint system that is now in place healing power is now much more of a game changer that it previously was as your team now needs to keep focus on staying alive.

My suggestion is to buff healing power as it hits a greater number and reduce it for the lesser. Meaning if you want to be a healer/support player you should spec your gear into the role while still maintaining a fair advantage over those who just stand in the shallow end and reap all the benefits.

I’d also like to point out the shocking range of the guardians dodge to heal mechanic. The range should be tied to the amount of healing power you have, so more healing power = more range = more effectiveness and you don’t have to position yourself out of combat only to dodge back into combat to make it work. Take a look at alpha in CoE for example. That is a dodging frenzy but impossible to pull off effective healing as everyone is dodging away from you.

My 2 cents. Please don’t outcast us players that want to play as a support/healer role. Our lack of damage should not gimp us in other departments. This also applys to non-meta builds such as guardians who prefer to not use greatsword/hammer.

Guardian getting stuck in walls

Using flashing blade I seem the be always getting stuck in walls or objects with no way to get out. This happened 3 times today in CoE. First getting stuck in a plant on P2, second getting stuck in a wall just before the lasers, and most importantly 3rd getting stuck next to the door on the first alpha encounter which then lead to the doors not opening and us having to relog. When we got back CoE was contested so we called it a night.

I think that having a website based armoury would be a better and less invasive starting point than having it in game.

So where do we start this topic hmm?

What is going to be the future of dungeons? I mean, end game PvE for me now on a daily basis is:

1/2/3 CoE
1 CoF
DR Break
1/2/3 AC
2 CoF

All this is for a skin. Why these dungeons you ask? CoE is the place to go to give you your best shot at getting charged cores/lodes. CoF 1 because it takes 6-7 mins and gives you a nice amount of money for the time it takes. AC for the same reason, with an omnom you can easily get 4 gold for clearing all 3 paths. CoF 2 because again, its a cakewalk and really doesn’t take long.

So after getting a decent amount of money, maybe 1 or 2 cores (don’t get me started on the loot tables for that ), its now time to exchange my tokens for rares to salvage for ectos.

Again, all of this is for a skin, a really nice skin I might add. I really don’t mind the time put in, but the variety, these dungeons ARE A GRIND. No question about it. I’d like to question if any Anet devs have put in their time to farm a legendary.

Back on topic now, what can we expect to come in the next few months dungeon wise? It’s a shame to say this but from the lack of anything in the pipeline, a lot of quite avid players I know are beginning to think, I have my legendary, there is really nothing left that to just farm gold.

Are we going to see any additions to the fractals? Imho I really hope not, yes it was nice to test some new mechanics but it was the flavour of the month and got old pretty quickly.

I think what we need desperately are some REAL SOLID RAID DUNGEONS. Now don’t get hung up on the word raid, I am happy with 5 man, it works, it’s not too complicated but as I see it, from the recent interviews and live streams the reason they wont go above 5 man is because of UI clutter? Then I beg the question of the new daily UI addition. Either that or in 10 man just force it into the streamlines raid frames.

I feel that in the last patch, the “dungeon polish and improvements” were a shambles and really very disappointing. There are still a lot of bugs that need to be addressed (Bjarl for instance is a horribly buggy encounter) and it remains to be seen that reducing alphas HP can be classed as real dungeon polish.

We need specific level 80 instances that are not easy, and reward rares and exotics. I for one am sick of getting blues from a chest. WTF is with that. I can get blues from the mobs in Queensdale. Get rid of the path 1/2/3 stuff and give us a true explorable dungeon. One that actually takes time to master rather than a cakewalk. One with adequate loot tables. One which has events like the troll in AC. Put some T6 nodes in there too for kittens sake. Right now dungeons are lackluster compared to the stuff you experience in WoW. Don’t get me wrong. On release they were good, but now they are stale and we really need some fresh content rather than “world events” that are walking up and down a map clicking on a broken sign.

We need dungeons with lore and a back story. Not just a kind of made up story that ties in with the lore. AC for example, what drove the priory there? what is the significance of the characters? why focus on gravelings when you could have made some really cool tie ins with the foe fire and searing.

I think the Charr fractal showed a lot of promise for a starting point of a larger open explorable dungeon. Imagine something along the lines of stratholme in WoW only in ascalon. Let us take on Bonfazz. Let us defend Rin from the charr.

Granted that is all in the past. Now that the story is over and we have “pressed 2 to zhaitan” we need the story to now progress in dungeons aswell as open world encounters.

My question to Anet is a blunt one. Please stop keeping us in the dark with false hopes and let us know what we can expect to see or what the next dungeon is based upon. It’s disappointing to say that I really don’t think there is much juice left in the content we have.

1/ DO you have a Healer/support class in Call of Duty?

2/ What if I want a gun that heals people? SO when someone gets shot, I can heal my team with my gun?

3/ No… You. You are Not a healer in GW2 because that role doesnt transulate in GW2’s combat system.

4/ Other games like WoW use the Tank/Healer/DPS roles which makes it 100% fine since that’s the core design of the game’s mechanics is to work with those 3 roles, But GW2 is designed with Damage/Control/Support in mind where all classes must use to Solo effectivly and coordinate with team effeciantly. It’s a new kind of combat system.

5/ By adding a healer type class or stats that makes certain class valid for Healers, will destory the game design and that’s when people start asking for Healers Elementalist or Guardian healers/tanks…. No thanks -_-

1/ Call of Duty has nothing to do with this game, the fact you brought it up decreases the credibility of your argument.

2/ Try Google “Team Fortress 2”, or “Battlefield 3”

3/ I am a healer in terms of the gear that I choose to play in. Once again, a Guild Wars 2 healer is completely different to a World of Warcraft healer.

4/ Damage/Control/Support is a lackluster way of describing each class can perform Tank/Healer/DPS all in synergy. The trinity is still there, just creatively disguised.

5/ People who don’t know how to play their classes properly will start asking for healing guardians and elementalists.

The dungeons in this game are seriously a joke, there is no need for specific classes however that still shouldn’t mean I am not allowed to play in a style that I enjoy.

You are missing the point.
This game isnt designed for the Holy Trinity: Tank/healer/Dps roles.

ArenaNet literarly made it clear about that.
You can costumize ur character how you want to play.

However, The moment people start looking for Healers, is the moment you start excluding certain classes, bringing back the Holy Trinity is not the asnwer.

Are you even reading what you are typing? I’m asking this as a genuine question.

The holy trinity is still there, however not in a classic sense (classic meaning it is essential). ANet made it clear that you can play however you want and still be helpful to your team. We have dps builds, we have bunker builds, so why is it a crime to want to play as a healer? It is impossible to just stand there and heal (which I don’t think you quite grasp). The whole idea behind cleric gear is to maximize the healing you give yourself and allies. Its more of a survivability build than anything else, and one that takes finesse to pull off effectively too.

So its perfectly fine for them to buff damage outputs via power and crit damage but when we want to increase our ability to negate this effect its seen as unbalanced? If I recall, healing power still scales pretty terribly compared to all other stats.

I feel like people who want to have healing gear are being shoehorned away from being able to play how we want to play because its easier to not include healing gear than it is to fix its viability.

Whats the point in me even doing my dailies if there is no way for me to progress? It seriously makes no sense when it could probably be created and added to the vendor in less than a-few hours. Same goes for the ascended rings. There are plenty of side grades for everyone but healing.

Since healing scales pretty badly with most skills apart from the dodge. Does it not make sense to give guardians a way to utilise the healing power they have? Give us a total of 3 dodges instead of 2, now we have more usefulness to help heal and not leave ourselves sitting ducks in a dungeon.

Alternatively, make the 1st dodge we do heal for 2x as much.

I can understand Anet not wanting to increase healing power scaling as much as we would like because in large parties and wubwub it would create huge imbalances and yet another bunker spec.

I have not put this in the suggestion forum because I’d like feedback from other likeminded guardians.

Truly Exploratory Mode

Why is explorable mode so linear? It was my understanding that you would be able to explore in explorable mode. Back near release people didn’t really do all 3 paths because everything was still new and not fully understood. Now that everyone does all 3 paths of most dungeons, doesn’t it make sense to have a fully explorable dungeon? All the boss should be there, or maybe even new bosses? Make it scaled for level 80, and make the dungeon reward a chance for between 1 and 3 lodgestones. I’m sick of grinding badly scaled linear paths. One full dungeon would feel much more open and interesting than 3 linear paths through it.

Cleric Ascended Rings

As the title says, why are there no cleric stats on the ascended rings? I don’t want to have to change my entire build because I play a support guardian who dodges to heal everyone as well as grants regen. +healing, although it multiplies pretty bad, is still what I want in my build. Why was there this oversight?

I really don’t feel like there is anything to progress to in game right now without grinding achievements or dalies. I want to keep running FotM, but whats the point when I don’t want any of the gear?

Will this be patched in?

We have all been giving you advice, recently more than ever although we still get no responses and are still left in the dark, more often than not, to juggle with politics.

I hope this thread isn’t deleted because I feel this video contains critical advice that Anet should adhere to

Using the video as a topic, do you agree that openness with the community instead of being metaphorically “take it or leave it”. I think collaboration is going to lead to a much, much better game but that it needs to start from the ground up. If you have a negative community, that will reflect on the game and people willing to play.

It happens all the time for me, Increasingly over this weekend.

-Guild chat goes down
-Party system goes down
-Whisper system goes down
-Friends list is most always down
-Guild roster goes down

Whats going on here anet? If I wanted to play a single player game I would. Your servers can’t even keep my chat connectivity up. How am I supposed to talk with my party in dungeons?

I tried to do this 3 times, Once actually reading them as I found them. ( I made a note on a piece of paper of the ones I had)
Second doing the same thing but this time just skipping through alot of the screens.
And thirdly starting at 1 upwards to 20, in order.

Still didn’t get the achievement. Is there something im missing or is it just bugged?

Firstly, everyone, stop jumping the gun, being entitled, and mostly blowing everything out of proportion.

These questioned need to be answered by anet staff so we can get to grips with what this change means.

1. Ascended gear. Is it the last in line of tiers?
2. Was it implemented because exotics are far to easy to obtain? (If not for what reason?
3. Why the stat increase and not just items with an upgrade slot and an infusion slot?
4. With the increase in stats, what attention will be given to previous content?
(every dungeon is a cakewalk even in exotics, are there plans to increase difficulty?)
5. Where will Ascended gear drop from?
(dungeons only? or can we get them from world PvE and WvW?)
6. Does this, In your view as a developer, contradict your manifesto? Why?

I know waiting for a response will be like pulling teeth, but as for being kept in the dark this thread aims to try and put to rest the misconceptions and accusations being thrown around the community.

P.s. My personal opinion is that this is a good thing. The chart I created shows the hours it takes (from my/guild experience) to achieve a full set of gear from each category (except legendary, that is a single legendary). The graph basically shows that for around 10 hours of gametime, a full set of exotics could be aquired utilising dungeons + daily rewards + gold relatively easily. It also shows on average around 200 hours to gain what is required for a legendary weapon. I’m not 100% sold on the item stats yet but dont see it as a huge problem. There is however a huge gap from exotic to legendary that should be filled.

120 for the Asecnded item is just to reperesent that there should be a mid point tier between exotic and legendary. It by no means indicates an accurate figure.

Id like to propose a question to the guys crying about this.

Did it take you long to get fully exotic’d? and not the “skin” I mean just the gear with stats.

It’s ridiculously easy to get exotic gear, so yes, there is a huge gap where I think ascended gear fits nicely. Comparing gear in GW2 to GW is just showing how narrow minded some of the community can be.
