I say why not keep the Old Lions arch to being with. Let’s look at the changes they made to the new Lion’s arch things are spaced further apart. The new Troll Jumping Puzzle blows and Divinity’s Arch now is way better to utilize for crafting and shopping that Lion’s arch is which use to be the hub for all people to use. I personally am hoping for a dragon to kill this new Lion’s arch too or perhaps an invasion from space lol

Guys bottom line is this about buying gold. You can’t use a Gold Seller to get gold however, you can still obtain gold by going through the game Goldseller err I mean the Gem store. You can easily pay double the cost (in actually cash) to get something that would cost you less elsewhere but make the company happy by purchasing them Gems to turn into Gold. And don’t worry this is all legit and you still get the knowledge of knowing that you spend more for less and the Gem exchange rate does not change much so you can do this over and over again until your heart is content.

Wow you folks are good at giving the new guy a great headache. Okay first go through the game and level to 80. You don’t have to worry about the dynamic events as you go on with your starting character. Follow the storyline and your going to progress naturally. Make sure that you get all the waypoints in the zones as you cross them (that way you can zone around and unlock the rest for the Explorer title). Once you are done with the main storyline you will notice that living story is a continuation from your storyline and you can keep following that. If you are intersted find a Guild that does WVW in Eternal Battlegrounds as that is where you are going to find the Guilds at this point running in their (the rest are avoiding the other WVW zones and your not going to find much play out their). PVP is an arena system that find a good group of 5 and good luck to you. Dungeons can still be used for limited experince but your not going to get very good rewards from them. If your PVE your looking at exploration at this point and pretty much that will do it. Avoid HOT its all screwed up and totally not a good buy. You may need to purchase gems from time to time to stay alive but that’s the developers telling us they need money but do be aware that from the amount you are spending on gems monthly your actually paying more that a standard subscription on a regular MMORPG. But I have played this game from day 1 on the first Guildwars and your right the game has changed and not for the better. In the original game you were able to farm bosses for weapons, cap skills and tool around with exploration and storyline and quests. Here now is the grind of materials, economy that stinks (your going to pay a fortune to go anywhere) and experience and mastery skills that are next to useless. Specializations are up to you but if you need to unlock them and use them its just points out that the game is truly unbalanced. But you are quickly seeing what many are seeing. Welcome to the pain with the rest of us and good luck.

Hero Points useless?

Well lets see if we can clarify this situation the Master Program stinks and their isn’t anything we can do about it. The original building system was the best and the circle one stinks as we all now that in a game situation you learn by experience. Hero points are next to useless unless you want to unlock skills but you really only need to unlock the skills that you really want to use you truly don’t need specializations (I have 12 level 80 characters and pretty much I’m still not finding a value for them and yes I’ve done them all). Enjoy the first game of Guildwars 2 and avoid HOT like the plague it is. They have tried these high numbers to force folks to learn skills in the past an oddly enough they are still getting the same response (check out the 4 million points required to max Magic Find). Perhaps when the fog is cleared they will actually consider reverting back to what worked. Drop the Master System as it is terrible to play, advance and just frankly useless not at all gamer friendly. They have lost the PVE gamers who have enjoyed questing, and dungeons (they nerfed the existing dungeons). The builds have yet to be fixed the way they promised that they would. Unless your a WVW or a PVP gamers tournament information is pointless and your probally not going to care about it. Twitch and feeds are useless as it just revert to rhetoric and boils down to Arena wanting to make money. So basically if your looking for changes perhaps next Winter they might get to it. Even then it won’t make a difference to the droves leaving or those that are here but have numerous accounts so Anent can count them more than once or the free accounts just tooling around. But if you like to spend money, run a melee class then your in the right spot.

Returning Player Questions

Yeah pretty much good luck guy. The different sets could be in regards to the different types light, medium and heavy. And yep your out of luck like the rest of us were. Arena their shafted the Veteran gamers who had already unlocked things prior to the Wardrobe and they will not reimburse anything for any reason it seems. Believe me you can put bugs and support tickets in till your blue in the face. Arena is only interested in revenue at this point not in the game or the gamer, regrettably. But if your into a Melee fighter your should be good as all of the classes are that, forget about condi (they are still dead weight I lost a build that I loved prior to this cruddy circle learning skills rather that a general progress of learning skills). But if you want to swing a weapon your going to have some fun. Stay away from HOT not survivable by yourself. This game and its original designed has change for the worse since the original Guildwars game. And while promises are always given from Anet their follow through leaves a lot to be desired. So things you might want to know:
1. Dungeons have been Nerfed – rewards no longer are valuable
2. Solo play in higher areas are not possible – good luck finding a group willing to work with you
3. I’d avoid the 10 man thing as once again you need a group
4. Legendary precursors can now be obtained through a progression of quests – be warned though you are going to go into areas of the game that you might not want to go but that’s the way it is. Fractals and WVW and PVP. Best wishes on that.
5. Enjoy the hack and slash way and get yourself some berserker gear any will work the rest of the armors are useless and doesn’t look like is going to be fixed for overall game play.
6. Right now the game is focused on making money rather than the gamer so be ready to spend a fortune in the Gem store for crafting goods and sell anything you don’t need.
Many folks like myself that I have gamed with log on for 15-20 to do the daily or collect the chest and log out. People are focusing on farming at this point to make a buck in an economy that is not player friendly and based on the trends is not going to get fixed.

Apart from that grab yourself a drink, sit down and stand in line for your turn at the lets watch a system that needed to not be fixed go down the tubes with a great FLUSH. Best wishes.

Balance patch

I agree with Wizard. I’ve already seen way too many people leave. I think Anet needs to focus on the issues in the game rather than balance at this point. As a matter of fact Anet you haven’t even tried the full character’s abilities because you’ve never followed through on what you promised to do with the characters to begin with. So far all I see is you turning every character into a Melee class and you’ve lost the players that prefer AOE damage. I personally am still waiting for the stacks above 25 for condition damage. And as much as you laud HOT I’m still not seeing the value of an expansion that the guilds I belong too solved in 2 weeks after release. In addition where is the content for the PVE folks like myself. HOT still remains a hard area to navigate and survive in for the solo player. As long as that continues to happen your going to keep loosing players. I like others are still waiting in the original game for you to do something creative to fix the issues you have out their. Your mastery program stinks to high heaven and you should have stayed with the experience program situation, I hope that eventually you wake up and get rid of that thing. Its too bad that your gamers warned you before the HOT released that this was going to happen and you did not listen. Your were asked to wait for the issues to get resolved but perhaps the money was more important than the game. It is going to take a miracle for you to regain the trust of your players but until then I am happy just farming.

I am starting to get concerned hear about the HOT expansion. To me it just seems like so so for the PVE enviroment. Not really the raider here, group kinda person or really being forced into raids. HOT is too centered on the PVP and WVW minded people. And yes I did the beta and it was okay but nothing that I would consider valuable for the money paid. I think Guildwars 2 needs to consider the actually PVE players and what PVE actually means.

PVE- Player versus Enviroment is not Fractals (thats a controlled dungeon forcing 5 people to work together), Dungeons (same as fractals), this is the player on the straight map going from one place to another earning hearts, points etc. Reaping rewards of the mobs that are being killed on the way through the game – The Art of Exploration. PVE players pride themselve on leveling by themselves not through cheap books that drop just by standing still and letting the days roll on to get the books. PVE players know that build crafting and thinnking is required to get out of spots, solve puzzles and survival. We are not hack and slash or have a mindset to kill other players. With this in mind please fix HOT so we too can say we have something to look forward too. If this can’t be done please indicate to everyone how we can get a refund for our purchase of HOT. Thanks

It is still clear that you can put all the new graphics you want in to make something look better. You can add new weapons and skins (oh also forgot the gem economy in the trading post so now we have 6) and hope player go for it. But the skins are for show, the legendaries themselves are really the same stats that you can get off ascended (which we also know that exotic works just as well) so if your looking for a fashion show okay. But as a games I want quests that I can do in the maps, I want to be able to do them aloone or ask for a group if I feel like running with people, I’d like to see you go to 1 economy for everything (their all the same items so really you only need the one to make it work) and lastly lets take a look a the exisiting issues in the game before you move on to HOT.

The last thing I want to talk about are the Dungeons and Fractals situation. I hate to be the pain but not everyone likes fractals, or to work in groups or to be forced to do raids. I would have hoped that HOT would have remain true to the gamer. Inb order for the game (in my opinion) to be successful you need to give the player choices not say you must do PVP, WVW, work with others (Assuming you can actually find a group) and walk into a yet another economy (let’s face reality here folks we have 5 economies already – Dungeon tokens, laurels, gold, fractal tokens, and WVW badges of honor) do we really need yet another economy in a game that clearly all of the economies are so messed up that it takes years to craft items or earn the gold necissary to get anything. adding this new one just makes the problem worse not better and no their is no happy medium becasue its the way it was designed.

The second item is this, "The acquisition of precursors in future legendary weapon sets will—like most things about new legendary weapons—be mostly the same as the ones in our first set, but with adjustments. The two differences here are that all precursors
for future sets will only be acquired through the precursor crafting journey, and unlike existing precursors, future precursors will not be dropped anywhere in the game. Furthermore, each of the three tiers of precursors from the second set of legendary weapons will have gameplay content and material requirements that can only be fulfilled in the Maguuma Jungle in addition to the places they take you in Central Tyria. "

Now this I need to really complain about. To begin with when HOT was suggested people still wanted to keep the old system for new players. Meaning we were told by Guildwars 2 that we could continue to craft legendary weapons the old and exisiting way. What this tells me is we are once again being forced to buy HOT and are not given a choice. Well this maybe alright for some others are more inclined to ask why the sudden change in what was already stated and promised by the developers.

I want to comment on a few of the things mentioned in the article that was released today by Guildwars 2 regarding The HOT new legendary weapons and few hidden things in the posting that players might not have caught.

The first one, “For this gift, your dedication to the game will be tested: you’ll need materials that can only be acquired after completing all of the Heart of Maguuma Masteries, map completion of the expansion zones, and a lot of each of the map-specific currencies.”

Basically the way I am reading this is we are now removing the items to craft the legendary items (which we can do now) and forcing our people to have to buy HOT. Meaning if a player does not want to purchase or support HOT they are now restricted for mats and other materials because its a requirement to have HOT. I would also think that the dedication to the game would be more implied if the game kept things the way they were and not change what is already working.

Looks like with the new Revenant material that has been released we are again looking at same content but a new class – I’m looking at a Ritualist/Guardian build it looks like. Except now the spirits can move and the Guardian side of the revenant can use Staff attacks. Still not seeing new material for PVE as well.

You know after looking at some of the Revenant material as I have with the other Elite Specializations I am just seeing that what I think GW2 is creating is a reason for dual classes again. In GW1 we could choose what mixture we want but it seems that GW2 is going to choose for us as well as the builds we can do. When the change came they auto matched our builds with what they felt was working. Really our choices were taken out of our hands. But I am just seeing rinse and repeat here with these additions and really nothing new or even worthwhile with. Its unfortunate that we all can see this but they can’t and I can’t see a kid paying out the money they want for the expansion for something folks are saying is still not working right and lots of the forums are saying that many things are broken. I hope they make repairs on the regular world before the expansion or this could be very bad indeed.

“In the future, if we release further Guild Wars 2 expansions, we plan to offer all of the prior expansions, the core game, and the latest expansion for one single purchase price.”

The above line was taken from the release that the company gave out today and I’m a little confused. So if they are going to offer a completed program when all of the material is given (core, expansions, etc) does that mean the people that are buying the products early could get shafted in the end by paying more now then later? Ecspecially consider that in buying the expansions we would be in fact purchasing the game again?

I want to pipe in this as well. Perhaps a better view of the pricing issue would be to say. Perhaps they should have taken the core game off the expansion. If the original game is going to cheaply from what others are posting then why not just keep it that way. Players would all start out on the same page. The expansion would then be only the new content and perhaps would be a better price as it is something the larger community already has. In this manner you are not shafting anyone.
But at the same time I always felt that fast progression was wrong. Most of the veterans myself included remember all those hours of grinding the adventures in the game and working our way up the ladder one level at a time. This is what made the game fun for me. Really though if you are doing WVW or PVP you don’t need to level as they auto level characters. The fast progression per level actually takes away from the game and I feel sorry for those new folks that take that easy way out your missing the story line from the different races as well as the content of the story. Your taking the cheap way just to race through and get to the same point that we are all struggling now. Let the game be more of a marathon and less of a speed race. Enjoy what you are actually are paying for.

Mee. I think this has a lot to do with that old sentiment that we were feeling when the original Guildwars game shafted us. For those that don’t know – When Guildwars was completed a lot of the things your veteran characters were working on was not brought over to Guildwars 2. That left a feeling that we were good enough over their but here we mean nothing. Now we took this blow and tried to recover even getting some pitiful rewards for all our time on the original Guildwars game.
I’m just not seeing the benefit for this expansion. All I see from the specializations are rinse and repeat of skills that other character classes have. They are also turning all of the classes into Melee classes and shafting the caster class like Elementalist and Necromancer. While the Reaper might look good they are using conditions that don’t really matter or are valuable, The best condition is the bleeding condition and you can see the formulas on WIKI. These specialization have met with a ton of criticism from other sites as well as the community. Some of the sites have even gone so far as to say this might be the end of Guildwars2. I hope that’s not the case but once again we seem to be overlooking the problems in the game for a quick way to make a buck and turning this game into hack and slash. I can’t see spending the money on something that I am really not getting anything out of. They also tried the Guildhalls in the original game and that pretty much was a bust. Can’t see it working here. And let’s also not forget that not everyone out here is PVP or WVW. They aren’t going to care about Guild v Guild (and you get to decide among the 5 you can join). Your loosing the gamers that enjoy PVE. I’m not seeing new dungeons. I’m not seeing anything that would urge me to pay the money.

I am having a very hard time of solving the mystery boss (the lut. of Mordremoth) and I’ve spent 15 hours, 8x trying to solve this. I am using a conditionmacer build my favorite. I oddly enough have advanced armor, weapons and gear (Rabid) and this is no help either. I even created a second set (rabid) with speed runes in and it is no help either. I really do not want to drop the conditionmancer build as it is my favorite build. If anyone has some solid ideas how to solve this please speak up. The utilities are signet of the locust, consume conditions (best heal for the necro), spectral armor and spectral walk. Thanks

I just saw the overview of this Reaper specialization for the Necromancer. It looks very interesting and reminds me of the Dervish character I had from Nightfall. Loved that class. Anyway, this specialization looks to be interesting however, I did notice a few things.

1. Why are all these specialization Melee specific? Necromancers by design do not really have a place in the front of combat. (It one of the main reasons they have minions to fight for them)
2. They seem to be slowing down the skills that make this class truly interesting to play like conditionmancer and Minion Master. The reaper doesn’t seem to complement any of these.

Basically the way that I am seeing things so far is that they are going to make everything Melee class and we are going to be going the Tanking build with the Berserker/Zojia Builds. This part kinda stinks, its removing the most interesting parts of the game and making this more hack and slash. My opinion is if we keep going hack and slash were going to loose the people that want to be healers, want to be casters, want to do AOE over time and those that want to be support. I’m not certain how this is going to take off.

The clarification makes more sense to me. I see now the combination and your right. The confusion is the mix I think but I see the value in having a little bit of everything to fit the genre.

Your also correct about those other games. Totally did not think of Shadow run or the other parts with the tech in those games. Now mind you part of the problem could be that I have not done these games in years. Thanks

Hmm.. very interesting points you have their Jaken. I have had some experience with the Steam punk genre. However, it seems misplaced in a world of swords, etc. But I do know that these also exist in the Steampunk ideology. Just seems to me they could have accomplished this with say crossbows rather than pistols. I mean this game is competing with many other games out their and I hardly ever seem them combined – Perhaps Rifts would be an exception though. I’ve always felt that this game could not only be the best but could overcome the other games of their type. I just feel that the technological aspect of the game hinders it not helps it. However, in the interest of our conversation how do you feel that this particular class fits in with the game? After all really the only tech builders that I can see in the game is the Aura and possible the Iron Legion. I just think cannon versus sword how do you compare this? Same with a rifle say versus the longbow? And I have played the engineer I’m just not seeing the reasoning behind this class in this particular game. Perhaps a better explanation for this would be more understood. I’d also like to know how many players in the game play the individual classes, perhaps a feeling from the others would give more insight. But some of the classes have gotten a lot of negative attention as are these specializations everyone is talking about. The Engineer just like pistols for a Thief (which now should actually be called a gunslinger) have their place I’m just not certain it fits this particular play. I have not recalled any other MMORPG or Desk Game base that really combines fantasy with scifi. Personally the Scifi is more futuristic with modern things. The fantasy is more say Conan, WOW or perhaps Dungeons and Dragons like. As I did state above I believe that Rifts might be an exception as would be Cyberpunk etc. But these games also were not as popular as say the straight fantasy genre like say Dungeons and Dragons and even the MMORPGH World of Warcraft. I feel that in order to achieve a name and go above these popular games we need to incorporate some of the missing elements that these games have installed. Name it what you will but the core story of this game is based in Fantasy (Gods, Dragons, questing and even the fractals and land). Even the Airships were pushing the envelope. I am however, curious what you see with technology in the game, perhaps I am overlooking something or missing a point where a melding of the two concepts can be joined together? Please explain your take on this.

A couple notes on Dragonhunter. We went with this name because we felt it was evocative of the medieval witch hunters. Guardians consider themselves protectors of the innocent. Followers of their faith be it in honor, valor, etc. The origin of the dragonhunter is a more subtle nuanced version of this. Guardians fight for justice and the dragonhunter faction believes justice is the eradication of dragons and their minions. I understand this is a lot more high concept than Mesmer but at the end of the day we felt like we wanted to try and push a more mature theme here. I hope this helps explain our thinking. We had other generic names in mind but felt like it was important to have a mix of spec names that are generic fantasy, more Tyrian fantasy, and more high concept. This one falls more in the third category.
Thanks,
Jon

I had to post this for you Vocal. This is in the Dev chat. As you can see as the Medieval Witch Hunter, generic fantasy etc. This game was meant to be in that era.

Hate to bust your bubble guy but a post earlier did indicate that this was a Medieval, Fantasy atmosphere. And what I had to say about the Bow had nothing to do with racism it had to do with the history of the bow around the world. A Longbow name with what we see in the game was traditionally in Europe. Asia and the Middle East had very different looking bows. The Samurai in Japan had bows that you had to be standing straight to use and was big as a full grown man.

I’d also like to point out that no a longbow and a Guardian do not make sense. The Guardian already has two ranged weapons the wand and the Staff. Of which the Staff has become what quite a bit of Guardians use now. And as for Anet’s demonstration they were unveiling the class specialization. You might want to read some back and on the posts from the Dev’s regarding this. As indicated I am not the only with these sentiments. However, please do keep in mind that I was drawing from World History based on area – the bow itself could have different forms dependent on what people are feeling for – in other words why a longbow.

Opps forgot to add the class weapon suggestions here they are:

Warrior – Two Handed Axe (let’s face it everyone wants this, I’ve see a lot of posts on this). Think Barbarian perhaps with some pets – Wolf, Hound, and say Bear.

Guardian – Spear (one we can use on land) think of Spear of Destiny if you need a focus to look at.

Thief – This class was pretty messed up when you added hand guns and made him more of a outlaw/gunslinger than a thief. A thief is an individual who does not use magic items or uses things that make them warriors because they aren’t. They are the Black Markets, Thugs, Burglar, who lives by the seat of their pants on their skills and wits. Invisibility is a tool to do things like pick pocket or even hide. I’d recommend that you do hand to hand skills with the thief it fits more with the Survival a thief works in Large Cities where they work the most. Some other skills could be used here as well like climbing up a wall that is sheer (Spider Climb), Hiding in plain sight, Poisons (different poisons can do different things even heal), and of course the jewel in the thief’s crown Stealth for a longer period of time.

Ranger – The problem we have here is the Ranger is pretty much a thief in the Wild but their are a few things that you can do. For example let a Ranger use a Rife same as a long bow but a little more powerful. You could add a Sniper concept to the ranger and possible add new pets with a different skill set.

Necromancer – A Greatsword with a necro makes no sense. Lets face it they were designed to work Black Magic not run around with a sword killing people. I’d reintroduce the Truncheon to the class. But add a flare to it, make it swell with darkness. New Minions to round out your Minion Master could work as well. But Necros already have specializations – here they are Conditionmancer, Powermancer, and Minion Master. If you want something like an evil warrior do an antiguardian.

Elementalist – I hate to say this but you already have your specializations for this class. If an Elementalist focuses on Air they are Airomancer’s, Fire – Firemancer, Water – Watermancer and Earth – earthmancer. It simply means that the elementalist focused on perfecting one element over the others. Added weapons to this class cold be say something directly connected to the element like a Talisman or a Wand perhaps made from the element. The growth you have for this is in the Arcane though You can have a spellcaster(full blown Archmage who’s mastered the Arcane and plumbed the secrets or Magic), Alchamist, even the dreaded Evocation.

Engineer – Never really figured out what an Engineer has to do with the Medieval Ages much less Fantasy they always seemed to me to be more Science Fiction than Fantasy to me. However, I’d like to see you take the wrench from the kit and put it as a weapon. Think more inline of Inventor/ Gadgeteer, even science usage like Biology, Chemistry and oh and the big one Physics. They would more than likely follow the science end of things – what the asura call the different forms of the Great Alchemy.
You could even think about a hand weapon called a mallet for them. Someone might even call it a warhammer.

I’ve read through everything and I think I am beginning to see the confusion everyone is having. Its not the title its what you all think this class is going to be in the end. Its confusing I have to be the first to admit. I can’t help but wonder if the original Guildwars Theme fits here more. Now I’ve never been a huge Mesmer fan but as I posted earlier the Mesmer was never intended to be a time magic kinda class. The original Mesmer was designed for Illusion, Domination and Inspiration all backgrounds that intended to trick the mind, control the mind or add buffs to a group. I’m sorry I’m one of those folks that never really liked what GW2 did with that class. As for the Guardian it seems like the ability of the guardian to do these new things (Dragonhunter) is actually a bit confusing. Originally the title of Dragonhunter belonged to a warrior class – typically they were warriors brought together for a single purpose to kill evil Dragons (ex. St. George and the Dragon). The Guardian class which I always saw as a Holy Warrior using both might and holiness to protect and heal are more in line with Warriors that worked in Temples and Churches to protect them, their parishioners and the area. (For ex. The Knight Templar was a Holy order created originally to protect people journeying from Europe to the Holy Land) If you want to develop this class to be more wanted by others we got to look at what the class does and what is needed not recreating what is already their. Makes no sense to use a bow while a Guardian can use a wand or a staff. However, how about allowing this new specialization to go into say something like a Holy Knight Class. For example Holy power being added to a weapon now, Smiting for the undead, protection in the forms of domes and healing or buffs to support those in distress. As for the title we are all dragon hunting now so its a play on words. However, case in point the Whole PACT is Dragonhunters. Templar, Crusader and Vindicator or even Inquisitor have all been associated with a Holy Warrior with a quest – yes you can add Paladin to this as well. Which means we are still dealing with a Melee class not a ranged class. Now I know that people are getting fixed on the fact that these classes can now use other types of weapons but it doesn’t fit what we have for the stereotypes of the Warrior, Thief, Cleric and Mage idea. So either we go with it or we don’t – but if your going to add weapons don’t change the class by adding existing weapons that’s just making them all plain Jane – its also going to alienate other classes that already have those abilities. Here’s a suggestion for weapons for the Classes:

Now these are just suggestions to develop these specializations and work with what is already present in the game. With the new weapons you can introduce some cross over skills for example a Truncheon could very well be a necromantic version of the Wand. The Large Two handed weapons make more sense as well, we already have staff and Greatsword, The Great Axe, Club and Polearm would be the next logical steps.

Timemagic was always part of the Mesmer (timewarp for example) and it is described as manipulating the mind of the enemy.
For all we know the new chrono magic is still mind manipulation on a higher level and subsequently still part of the Mesmers abilities. Just a mesmer who focuses more on that part.

Okay Jaken I need to respond to this. Memser were never about Timemagic to begin with. If you look back at the original Memser’s (Guildwars 1) they were designed to trick people with illusions, control minds with Domination and Inspire their allies with abilities to help buff them. Time magic really isn’t something for the memser. I would think it would fall more on the Arcane if anything. When Gw2 first came out they were attempting this with the memser and its never really fit the class. I still don’t’ think it fits the class.

Doc you are correct and I am in error. The monk did have weapons but a hand to hand combat class might be cool to consider. It is new and unique and the Monk title could still be used.

Now this sounds good to me .. I mean after all the work I put into these characters the last thing I want to do is change anything about them. I mean I created them, I choose their path and worked them up from the ground up. Why would I want to change a thing. I prefer the Umbrella of the class rather than anything specific. To mean if we were forced to choose or drop our abilities or skills it would feel like when the game moved from the original to GW2. A lot of us veterans left our characters we worked our tails off with in the original game and I still miss some of the aspects of the original game. I was just hoping that the devs would try to return what originally made their game so popular rather than reinventing the wheel. And just for the record the things I miss is the Monk class (a melee Holy fighter -and a Healer), I miss the original Mesmer class as well (why would a Mesmer who can shield themselves already and move fast (blink, portal) need a Shield (their is enough issues with trying to get a Engineer to use a shield now) – Domination Magic was the blast and I loved the Gwen character), also the necromancers were not so weak. In the original game the Minion Master was a great person to have around for support and right now the Minon Master is a joke. The abilities are extremely weak. I also miss the Dervish (the main character I preferred) a Holy Warrior with a two handed Scythe. It was a new and original concept that kept me coming back day after day.

I’m just of the opinion that it would be more productive fixing some of the existing problems than launching something that I just can’t see taking off. I have no interest in the specializations so far and both of the ones that were shown to us is not very good. The mesmer was originally intended to snare the mind and control the mobs. Now they are turned into a warrior class that is quite frankly dull. Other games have tried the chronomancer and its never passed. I feel the same way with a Guardian swinging a longbow. Why? Originally the Guardian was suppose to be a healer and support class – a place to go for defense. Why is it being turned into a trapper or thief build? The other classes already have these skills and abilities.

I think working on some of the other game situations would seem more fit (just a humble opinion) like don’t add the specializations just give more skills to choose from. If eventually you want to have the ability for all characters to use all the weapons, skills, etc., your players are going to be upset that they put all the time, money and effort in for something that could have been done with one character. I’d rather see a raise in level say to 150 or 160. Allow from more skills or allow the classes to have the skills that were available in the original game and add the content that was missing from the original game. This revenant sound more like the Ritualist class in the original game. Please never allow the Paragon that is just too painful to remember and many prefer to forget it existed. In addition what ever happened to the original PVE content that the original game had. It was way more challenging to capture a skill or hit a boss for a drop. You also need to look at the fact that Guilds are becoming obsolete or their are so many of them people just don’t see the value in joining one. Besides mostly guildes are used for PVP or WVW. Its really not relevant to PVE players like myself. I want the quest not the lets go kill each other and the Big Bosses. I shouldn’t have to spend all my game play harvesting for outrageous amount of materials to craft things for my use and deal with a trading system (Trading Post) that is so outrageously costly to get things. New players any and I mean anyone new is stuck with those prices and if they want to get anywhere they are not going to have a choice. I also see the instant leveling as an issue as well. Its a game folks, one you buy and one you want to play because of what it is why shorten the experience. That goes back to why I think we should look at level raising and adding skills. The more you subtract and change and the prices being out of control and just having to farm and get things like luck points the less it feel like a game and the more it feels like a job.

see that’s what I thought off. It just seems that the Dragonhunter utility and main skills seem like repetitions as the other class already have them. The title also is not a great title. I mean we are all Dragonhunters to a tee, their are 7 Elder dragons. So like I was saying perhaps focusing on Healing, Smiting or just the use of Holy would be more productive. Different arms and a different flavor would make it better as well. It just feels like rinse and repeat again. And I don’t really see the value with the same skills, want traps play a Ranger, want a unique shot play a thief, etc etc.

I do want to say something about titles though. See if they went with Smite you could call it a Zealot. If they want more Holy or Smite on a Weapon I’d like to suggest Crusader, Templar or something along that line. A weapon like a bow does not fit this type of character. I mean if your Asian perhaps but Europeans and Americans this isn’t going to fit. Also the only Warrior class that really used a longbow (which by the way is a European Title) was the Samurai or the Ninja. The Ninja fits more to say a Thief class though and the Samurai would be more fitting a Warrior class.

I’m understanding a bit what they are trying to put together for the Dragonhunter but theirs a couple of issues I am lacking in understanding. First of all the title just does not fit for a Guardian. Perhaps Crusader, Zealot or something of that caliber. The other question is this I am really confused about is why are we are reinventing the wheel here? I took a look at the Video and was trying to figure out the whole longbow thing. Seems redundant to create a ranger/thief hybrid and call it a Dragonhunter. If you want traps do a ranger. If you want a ricochet shot do a thief. The wall is an extension of Reflection and Reflect Wall that Guardians already have and they do wear Heavy armor for more protection so they can take a hit. Change up the sigils to get the proper effect on armor and weapons. Also reveal an area where stealth is being used is not a good choice for a skills. Here’s why a thief can only stealth for a short period and the thief also has multiple ways to reenter stealth. I was hoping to see something original here and in league with somethings they took out from the original game. I was kinda thinking what about Smiting. It was a great suggestion and used in the original game or what about bringing a full healing spec in. And lastly why are we settling for the same weapons, What about different weapons. I’d love to see the Guarding swing a pole-arm in the game or even a spear to be used in the game rather than just underwater. It would add a flair that other games lack.

I’ve been looking at both of the recent specializations that are due to come out with Game of Thorns and neither really interest me. While they both seem more combat oriented than what a PVE player would need. Some of the folks on the game prefer the PVE environment rather than a PVP, Fractals or a WVW situation. I can’t help but ask a couple of questions. Is their a choice whether or not a player can keep a specialization? Can we not keep our characters the way we first created them?

Recently I had to restore my computer to the factory default due to an error in my system. That is now fixed. I have been working on putting all the games back on and I noted that Guildwars 2 has a tremendous amount of patches to download when you use the client (and the disks) I had 295000 files. This is pretty harsh and its extremely slow. Is their any way to speed this up or any way to maybe get the patches and just run them on the computer? Any help on this would be appreciated.

Hi,

The Guild bank for New Rome on the Crystal Desert Server was hacked into. Their were many things taken out and it says an unknown user did it. Please help me correct this and restore the items in the bank. The guildies are pretty upset about this situation and we are unclear as to how they got in.

I also posted this under tech but this very well could be a bug as well.
Thanks

Hi. I’ve noticed that folks in the Guild that I created cannot gain access to the Guild Bank. It seems that when the Mega Server went online it allows us to invite many people to the guilds but only the people that are on the original server that was created at the time the Guild was can see and use the Guild Bank. This limits those that use the bank and causes a headache for everyone else that needs items. Is their a way to allow everyone in a Guild to see the Guild bank and access it. Thanks

I think that you all need to fix this also for the WVW situation as well. Apart from the bank issue your also having Guild members fight each other in WVW. This could result in some cheating or exchange of information that would take away from the WVW experience. I’d like to suggest that you allow Guild’s now to represent themselves within the game and allow the Guild as a whole to select the side they wish to represent through color rather than server. So a guild could be say red, green, blue etc. To divide a Guild is not a good thing and right now their are a lot of Guilds running around.

I run a Guild on the Crystal Desert Server. My Guildmates cannot access the Guild bank to deposit items or withdraw items. Now I’m not certain if this has to do with the servers that they are all on but they are all Guild members and were recruited in the game. I need them to have access to the Bank to deposit and withdraw items for the members of the Guild. As many of them are officers they need to have access. How can I go and do this? I would think that if they were recruited and are part of the Guild they should at least get access to the Guild Bank?

I was wondering is their any side server up for PVE. Even the European servers? This megaserver for PVE is making things so complicated. People are running ahead killing things before others get their, tempers are getting hot and its just not fun because its all a mad race now? I really did enjoy the ability to go out their with my own server and the home grown guild and just farm like I used to. Is it even possible to set up a server and put it back the way it was before the April 2014 big patch. I’m just curious here not trying to say anything bad but I jus think its too crowded. sorry

I must be missing something. What is the big deal about these changes? I mean the builds still work (the lower points don’t mean anything do they?) the skills are the same. What about the dyes and wardrobe? I can’t see the value here. Are we going to get reimbursed for buying the dyes and gear that can now be used? Someone got to explain this to me?

With all of the changes that appear to be altering the game in April. I would like to get the 3 pets that we didn’t have access to unless we had the original game. I’d like to be able to catch the White Rave, Black Moa and Black Widow Spider. In addition I’m also hoping for a few other pets along the way that we might have a shot at. Personally some of the creatures would make great pets like the breeze rider and the imps.

I am trying to figure out the engineer with all the nerfs and issues that have been occurring. Originally my engineer was doing pretty good as a turret engineer but now I am finding that I am getting my butt handed to me time and again. I tried the elixir gun and flamethrower combo and I just am not doing enough damage. So I am looking for a build that can do max damage and keep me alive in a PVE environment. If anyone has some suggestions or build I am all open—— I have explorer armor, rampager armor and carrion armor so please make suggestions that include runes, sigils and armor. Thanks

Dragonite Ore

Well I had to put this in somewhere. This constant boss farming for dragonite ore is the pits. I mean day in day out and we can’t farm the same boss more than 1 per day. It takes forever to get the ingots you need for crafting. Yet that stupid bloodstone dust drops everywhere practically. I’d like to make 4 suggestions either will work –
1. Create a trader that will turn bloodstone dust into dragonite ore – lets face it 4000 bloodstone dust is a bit much in the old bank account.
2. Allow us to trade the materials on the Black Lion trading company.
3. Start having mobs drop the ore periodically other than just the bosses.
4. Make the ore available in the chest drops

Please think about this, I think it would make it a whole lot simpler with smaller groups of people on smaller servers.

I’ve been looking at this magic find total for how much luck essence that you actually need for the 300% and I’ve seen some posts that indicate that you would need like 4,800,000 points of luck essence to equal to the 300% in magic find that would top this skill off. If this is the case holy smokes this seems really unstable to me and pretty ridiculous, I mean I wonder how long it would take someone to farm that much luck essence and is it even possible?
