If you want your preferences catered for, then you have to actually state your preferences.
Nah that’s not enough, take a look:
The sad part is that you can write “exp only” and “meta comp, meta strats, no bads” and still get non-meta, non-optimal strat bads.
People don’t read. Don’t care what the LFG says and then get kicked. Then they go onto the forum and complain having no idea why they were kicked.
And besides, fractals have nice multiple tiers of difficulty, so inexperienced players shouldn’t exist at higher levels. They get training through those amazing tiers of difficulty after all. And second, when a group is for training then it is advertised as such, meaning a group not advertised for training, is not for training.
On a serious note, the majority of raiders will already be forced to buy the expansion for the new elite specs alone.
Raiders will buy the expansion to play the expansion Raids, I’m not sure if the new elite specs will replace the old builds though. Time will tell
PoF is a content expansion, HoT was a mechanic expansion. This means that HoT introduced new ideas and new ways to expand the game that would be used in future expansions, while PoF uses those new mechanics to give us more content. This means that they are giving us more things that already existed in HoT, instead of brand new. New elite specs, new mastery points, a new GH and so on
Raids and fractals are coming, that’s been confirmed on the forums, but they didn’t announce those because apparently, they are not part of the expansion but part of the living world, which has a separate release schedule.
That’s what t1-t3 are for.
That’s true. According to the easy-mode-for-raids people, the multi-tier approach in fractals is great because players can “Train” at the lower tiers, which means inexperienced players shouldn’t exist at T4. Yet they do.
It’s a reasonable point of view, but I wonder: how much more difficult would it be for you to add a few words? “T4 dailies, experienced only” tells me that it’s a group that cares how well people know the mechanics, whereas “T4 dailies” leaves it open to interpretation.
Then what is a “T4 training” group for?
It’s always funny to hear people complain they want challenging content. Wouldn’t it be more challenging to let a non meta player join you????
No. /15chars
And what we’ve seen in this thread over and over is different people bring with them different ideas of fun, different expectations of those they group with, and different goals. Harper seems to like his games when treated as srsbsns. Not really anything fundamentally wrong with that or Astralporing just wanting to relax in game.
Yes but if you noticed it’s the people who want to relax that put the labels on. It’s those who play the game to relax that want the game to change, that want even the players themselves to change (!!!), in order to follow their own ideal. I think that last one is really sad. And when they can’t get carried, which they believe is their privilege as players, they come on forums and complain.
Then put “no newbies” or something in your listing. If you just put “T4 dailies” it’s assumed that’s what you want. If you do not want people that like hazelnut then put “no hazelnut fans” in your listing, otherwise you’re being disingenuous.
If I just put T4 dailies it’s assumed that I want to do the freaking dailies, not teach them. There is no need for “no newbies”, if I wanted to teach I’d put a “T4 daily training” instead.
When you want to train look for the word “training” in a listing, there were loads when the new Fractal was released because nobody had experience with it anyway.

I don’t understand what you’ll gain if you go dual class. You already have way more skills in Guild Wars 2 than you ever did in Guild Wars 1, way more mechanics and more complexity to deal with. The new elite specs give you even more buttons, that it’s turning crazy.
As for diversity in GW1, that’s such a false argument. There was never diversity in GW1, especially after Eye of the North when anyone could play the meta 7-hero support build, with their main character using only 4 skills (3 of them pve-only skills) and the 4th one Assassin’s Promise (go /A if you are not main Assassin).
There’s no way this would affect PvE in any way.
What happens if where you are dueling there are mobs around? Or events?
As soon as a third party interferes (mobs) the duel is canceled and both participants are restored to the health they had before the duel and the world keeps on spinning.
Do you honestly believe that this would be fast enough? They would also need to check if you are in range of mobs and/or events when you click on someone to send a duel request. I’m not sure if that’s even possible.
No. Dueling out in PVE will never work and saying that it won’t affect PVE is false. The only way it could work is inside very specific places, like that arena in the Black Citadel for example.
There’s no way this would affect PvE in any way.
What happens if where you are dueling there are mobs around? Or events?
Can we please have a way to allow players to craft more than 1 of these trinkets per account? I want to have them on more than 1 character.
Or you know, make it a skin.
I think the legendary functionality is more important than the skin
What is stopping someone from stalking and whispering you ingame now?
I’ve had my fair share of whispers (and even duel requests) in WvW

It’s xp not actual mastery points
Poor time to edit I guess. But yes, both of those times the person who initiated the kick said it was because their DPS is low. As for the run count, I don’t know. It is quite infrequent from what I’ve seen, but I have far from an all encompassing view.
The OP was also kicked because his DPS was low. But in many cases his kick would’ve been more than justified. He was playing a support Tempest, if he was kicked for having low dps after mentioning he was a support Tempest then the blame is on the team that kicked him. However, if he, which to me seems more likely, never communicated that, then the fault can be on the OP instead, which also depends on the rest on the team composition. Imagine if the team already had a Druid, which is more than enough to heal even in T4 fractals and makes the support Tempest useless. Or if they had another support Tempest, one of them should’ve changed spec, build or character.
Failure to communicate lies on both sides here. A second support spec isn’t needed, and in fact can make a fractal run worse, cause extra wipes, making it harder to deal with mechanics. And besides that we don’t even know what kind of group that was, was it an “all welcome” group, a “T4 meta” group? Or was it a low level T1 group where a kick would make zero sense in any way?
Same goes for every other case of “kicked due to low dps”. I’m not denying there are idiots out there who might kick out of spite. But not all cases are equal.
Thankfully, I’ve never been kicked, but I have seen other players get kicked for it, so my fears are not unfounded.
Fun fact about these kinds of comments: you never know the full picture.
Case in point: the opening of this thread. We still don’t know what exactly happened.“I heard it happening, so it must be true”, is not a very good argument.
“Seen” is literal here. I was on the team, and saw the person ousted. I have personally witnessed this happen at least twice.
And? Why were they actually kicked? A person getting ousted can happen for a billion things, as you can more than clearly see at the opening of this thread.
And besides that, twice in how many runs?
Thankfully, I’ve never been kicked, but I have seen other players get kicked for it, so my fears are not unfounded.

When you see a group that says the simple: “T4 dailies” what do you expect?
A group that will teach you the details and mechanics of each encounter, or a group that is already experienced with it and wants to finish the daily quickly?Just “T4 dailies”? I would expect they do not mind who joins.
Although when you type “T4 dailies” you shouldn’t distinguish between professions and take any that might join, that doesn’t mean you will teach anyone the mechanics of any fight. That’s what groups with “training” in their name are for.
Since there are multiple threads on the subject, I think I’ll re-post this:
“The overall design for Guild Wars 2 does not support fully open world PvP and it would take a prohibitive amount of work to even make it possible. World versus world is our version of open world PvP, and while it isn’t ‘true’ open world PvP for more PvP purists, it does contain many of the elements that make world PvP so exciting. Hopefully it will mostly satisfy people that want open world PvP.” — Mike Ferguson
Bold part for emphasis. It doesn’t matter how many people want it or how many people would use it or like it. It would take too much work to make it work, so it’s not worth it.

It’s the design that doesn’t support it. It’s not something they can “add”.
Something I would love to see added is expansion based guild missions. Although I can understand why they don’t do it in HoT, imagine a guild starting a rush in VG while there is the meta going. Even searching for and fighting bounties would be problematic, but maybe on Path of Fire maps that do not have a map meta it could work.
Also i would really like to hear an official response to these third party programs used to see private dmg information of other players and kick them because of that. I personally see this as a kind of hacking on behalf of my account
As it was already posted earlier in this thread, people should really read a thread and not just the opening, a re-post of the official stance:
https://www.reddit.com/r/Guildwars2/comments/5sw8ey/arenanets_official_stance_on_3rd_party_dps_meters/
“We have no problems with players using a 3rd party tool whose scope is only to collect and visualize combat data gathered directly from the game client.”
Which is what dps meters do and is perfectly legal. I’d give the suggestion as earlier in the thread: learning how to read (for those who join) and how to write (for those creating groups) is how all this can easily be solved. Sadly it’s not something for a video game to teach, that’s a school’s job.
They got careful after the kittenstorm from HoT. Everything that is not available at release day of PoF didn’t get promoted.
Honestly, a simple: “Purchasing Path of Fire gives access to Path of Fire Raids and Living World Season 4” would be enough for me.
Because WvW, PvP, raids and fractals are not expansion content anymore. They have their own release cycle and get release when they are ready. Raids got promoted for HoT because they were new, that is not the case anymore.
But most players who do not browse the forums nor watch streams do not know that, and new players who might be interested in Path of Fire do not know that either. Just like there were many that bought Heart of Thorns because they announced raids, there should be many who would buy Path of Fire for the same reason. There is even a thread asking if there will be Raids in Path of Fire. I’m just saying there is a potential loss in revenue here.
I haven’t yet but I will very soon because I’m invested in the game and the franchise as a whole. The only reason I haven’t pre-purchased yet is because I’m not sure which version to pre-purchase.
3 Posts in a row all deserving a +1000. Thanks Harper.
It’s always funny to see posts by people who consider feelings, then move on to not consider the feelings of all sides involved.
Or talking about fairness and saying what is unfair for one side but not taking the time to consider what is unfair or fair for the other one.
It would be awesome to consider all sides of an equation when posting and not staying on one of them and ignoring the others.
i think open pvp is better ,if can’t do this no matter ,but 1v1 pvp in everywhereis good
Did you read my post? It can’t happen for technical reasons not that they have it disabled or something. It would take an insane amount of work to even make it work, and that developer time will be better spent elsewhere.

We know from various thread posts that new raids are coming, that’s a given:
https://forum-en.gw2archive.eu/forum/game/dungeons/new-expansion-has-no-raid/first#post6667709
https://forum-en.gw2archive.eu/forum/game/dungeons/Raid-perma-revealed-unblockable-auras/first#post6705564
However, why isn’t there even a small mention of it on the official expansion page:
https://www.guildwars2.com/en/path-of-fire/
I’m sure most of the Heart of Thorns raiders will buy Path of Fire if they know there is a Raid there, but not everyone is reading the forums to know that.
The answer is no. The two expansions are standalone. The benefit of this, is that Path of Fire is rather cheap
Yea, I don’t believe it’s even 20%. I’m in 2 major guilds that don’t even have 1 raid team in either.
One of the guilds I’m in has 3 raid teams but that’s irrelevant really. Another poster posted some numbers earlier too, said it was specific to this game too, but he never game his sources. Something like 70% casual, 30% hardcore were his numbers (not only talking about raiders). Maybe the numbers are available only to select few people and are a top secret otherwise.
Last I looked before I left, less then 20% of the player base even tried to do raids, They claimed it was as it attracted 20% of the players, as opposed to the typical 3 – 5 % among other games.
Where is that 20% coming from?

I’m not speaking of requiring HoT, but about having HoT masteries still playing a role as a parallel route.
Gliding was rather useful in the demo, you could get to many places easier with gliding than moving around on your mount. I doubt we’ll see any LS3 specific mastery abilities, which is understandable, while the more specific ones, like Itzel Poison and Nuhoch Wallows wouldn’t make any kind of sense to be used in PoF.
Which leaves us with mushrooms, updrafts and leylines. Mushrooms are a jungle thing so I seriously doubt we’ll see those in PoF. Leylines can be seen (but not interacted with) even in core tyria (Dry Top) so maybe we’ll see leylines in PoF too, after all Elder Dragons eat magic through the leylines. Updrafts I’m not so sure, it depends how vertical the rest of the zones will be, but an updraft in the middle of a desert would look a pit weird.
There is a possibility to use HoT masteries in PoF, gliding was already proven to be useful in the crystal desert, even in the demo. Leylines are my best bet for other HoT masteries used in PoF. In a very very similar way you can use PoF mounts to get to places you can’t without HoT masteries, for example getting to Burnisher Quarry requires Nuhoch Wallow mastery or Leyline mastery. With PoF, the Sprigan could easily make that jump.
Problem is, instead of proposing a new addition to gameplay that in combination with what already exists creates more choices, PoF is actually banishing any advancement obtained through HoT masteries, replacing them with mounts masteries.
Mounting is not a choice, but a requirement, and an artificially created one, which also depends on eliminating previous choices.
This is expected since PoF is standalone and doesn’t require HoT. If PoF zones required HoT masteries then HoT would be essential and not optional.
If the game itself warned people that this was an expectation and set that expectation then people would know this going into it (ie some content needs guilds/friends) not some content requires random people who don’t want to play with you because you’re new.
Now I’m curious. How do you propose the game “informs” new players of those expectations?
Ahh there’s the assumption I don’t do the dailies in fractals when I go to a fractal it’s because I’m trying to learn the mechanics of the fractal not because I am doing the daily. (Mind you as I said I two man then and I don’t join groups because the LFG tool could use a nice tweak to give people warnings).
If you want to train/learn the mechanics then you join a group that explicitly states it’s a training group. That’s your LFG “warning”. What you are doing is the best way to go about it when training groups do not exist (you can search for them btw), join in a static group with friends and guild members to learn the content.
What I always believed about the LFG is that if you join a group of random strangers who want to finish a particular piece of content, don’t expect them to teach you that piece of content. It should come as no surprise that prior knowledge of that content is required, unless explicitly stating otherwise. No random stranger should be forced to teach others how to play, that’s what your guild members and friends are for. Therefore no extra warning is needed
It’s a game not a job… Some of us like to take our time, if you’re not one of them please put it out there up front so we all don’t waste each others time.
When you see a group that says the simple: “T4 dailies” what do you expect?
A group that will teach you the details and mechanics of each encounter, or a group that is already experienced with it and wants to finish the daily quickly?
And here is the reason I do not join PUG’s, don’t play games with random players and have zero interest in joining those who do. I play for fun not to have to meet certain specs/quota’s etc while that might be fun for you… Absolutely the reason I avoid other MMO’s.
And that’s the best thing to do. The problem is when people that think like you try to join other groups that do not. That’s the main issue here, there are two kinds of players that can’t play well with each other, and one of the groups imposes their idea on the other. That’s not a fault of the meter though
If your DPS is low you’ll wipe the team.
Been trying to explain since the game was released all those years ago. Some people never understood it.
From a thread on the subject of the meta, from a long long time ago:
“I’ve been in a group with these meta-berserkers with my nomads gear and while they were dead I was alive and kicking! They were such noobs!”
Unfortunately some people hate the word “meta” so much that they can’t think clearly.
As story goes, Elona is a place where Asura haven’t been that much. Why and how would there be alot of way points there?
Well there are waypoints in Dragon’s Stand next to an Elder Dragon
Again assumptions. People keep using this word fail when in actuality it didn’t meet predictions.
To be more specific, the expectation that “failed” was the conversion rate from free to play to paid customers. That’s what the official announcement say and what we know for sure, anything else is assumptions by players.
I think ‘get gewd’ is annoying and harsh, but there’s a grain of truth in it. Anet is pushing us a bit. It started with Dry Top, Silverwastes and Labyrynthine cliffs. Then HoT dropped a bomb of higher difficulty content. HoT was scaled back a bit and reworked, plus the game stability eventually returned.
It started even earlier than that with Southsun and then with the design of LS1 mobs, that sadly disappeared. Also, the Mordrem mobs in Dry Top/Silverwastes were way harder than their Heart of Thorns versions.
If I wanted a thread that asked if you regret buying HoT or not then I’d make a thread like that. I was very specific in my opening post in what I want from this thread, if you want to know if players regret buying it, make another thread with that topic.
Much the same, people should be willing to make their groups with meter requirements and be open about it. It’s not hard to type “ArcDPS required” or “No meters!”
The thing is sometimes you don’t care about meters and only use them if you smell something isn’t right. Notice what the OP said: “they confirm using dps meter.” Maybe they already noticed that his dps was really low, it’s not hard to see if you are experienced, and used the meter solely to confirm it before kicking him, so it wasn’t a false positive. Better be safe than kick without “Evidence”?
Of course they could’ve just been silly people. We don’t know exactly what happened, due to the lack of information, but I see many jump to blame the meter without knowing what actually happened.
That being said the new map designs seem to just be wide, long and relatively flat which shouldn’t be difficult to figure out.
I really doubt the rest of the maps will also be flat.
If you notice the mounts give you abilities similar to the zephyrite crystals, the Raptor is the purple crystal and the Springer is the blue one. Why add mounts with such abilities if the map is all flat?
This looks very Dry Top-ish with long and high canyons:
https://s3.amazonaws.com/loadinginfo/uploads/pof/2017/07/26/1501094063-GW2-POF-map_pic_6-630x354.jpg
while this one has bridges up high, similar to the Desert Borderland:
https://s3.amazonaws.com/loadinginfo/uploads/pof/2017/07/26/1501094096-GW2-POF-map_pic_8-630x354.jpg
It’s hard to imagine that the maps in PoF will all be flat like most Core Tyria maps after giving us mounts with vertical abilities and posting these screenshots.
As I am starting to see, so the problem with this topic is that I did not start it with one of those big red Q’s, as such it seems that many of the people coming to this topic can’t seem to figure out that I was asking a question, not making a statement.
If your question is this:
I am wondering if PoF is more like the Core game, or is it more like HoT.
Then obviously nobody knows the answer because nobody actually played all the maps/content of PoF to answer it. For all we know the first zone, or even the part we’ve seen in the demo, is nothing like the last zone at all.
And the first story instance is nothing like the last one. You asked a hypothetical question that you know nobody has the answer to. And then complain when others pick apart what you typed and focus on other parts of it. Those other parts are worthy of discussion, that’s why it’s been 8 pages discussing that because your “actual” question has no answer.
Bottom line for me, is HoT/PoF just are not what I wanted in GW2.
Just curious here but how do you know PoF is not what you want in GW2? I can understand about HoT since it has been out for a long time, there is tons of information around about it. But our knowledge of PoF is very limited
I’m happy this thread is still going. Knowing why players didn’t buy Heart of Thorns is a great piece of information. Now I will make another one when PoF launches to compare notes.
Have you tried doing all the hearts(some are locked behind events) on 11 characters when you do please come and say its trivial.
There is no heart locked behind events.
should be more or less the same as previous one…. 250
So they can unlock the entire spec without touching PoF zones? That’s unlikely to happen.
I think they should open up the training area (with the training golems) for the elite specs
