Pet Shouts should always apply to Character

Pet buff will apply to player and party members first. If you are out of range that is as a whole other story.

That’s not true. I opened a bug about it… 2 months ago (https://forum-en.gw2archive.eu/forum/support/bugs/Pets-buffs-with-party-members/first#post3097388)
I tried it just before a WvW matchup reset so there was a lot of players near the portals and when i made my pet use its buff… it was very random. I didn’t get the buff every time, such as mine party members.

Skills that buff allies in an AoE now prioritize party members.

It’s not working with pets’ buffs…. not sure if it’s a bug or not. Does our pet is a party member or a individual/independant entity?

I tested it just before a matchup reset. So there was a lot of people at the same place just in front of the WvW portal. Me and my Teammates didn’t get my pet’s buff.

About bloodlust (WvW bonus for holding ruins), I don’t think the pet should get it. It’s a flat bonus and I don’t think a ranger should get double the effect of everyone else. Be careful what you ask for though, before you know it they’ll split the bonus in half and give 50% to the ranger and 50% to his pet. I rather have 100% on the Ranger and 0% on the pet.

I think our pet should get the buff because it’s a part of our damage.
Right now, if the pet represents n% of our damage, we have only (100-n)% of the bloodlust buff.

Conversion Traits balance

I know that is not a balance priority issue, but even if that don’t seems to be a big deal there’s a serious difference between HP conversion traits and the others stats conversion traits.
In sPvP you can add 1388 max in one stat : (1388+916)/1388 = 166%
But if you only want to reach the 25 points to get the trait : (250 + 916)/250 = 466%
That’s huge!

You can easily fix that by adding 91,6 extra points to the HP conversion.

Pre-patch :
- Major Adept traits : 5%
- Minor master traits : 5%
- Minor Grandmaster traits w/o Healing Power: 5%
- Minor Grandmaster traits w/ Healing Power: 10% (because Healing Power don’t start at 916)
- Major Grandmaster traits : 10%

These traits were pretty well balanced but I understand the will to make Major traits more rewarding.
Moreover, I think ANet made a distinction between Minor Grandmaster traits w/o Healing Power and w/ Healing Power on purpose in a first time.

Post-patch :
- Major Adept traits : 7%
- Minor master traits : 7%
- Minor Grandmaster traits: 10%
- Major Grandmaster traits : 13%

To conclude, Nature’s Wrath and Performance Enhancement are pretty weak now in comparison to the others conversion traits.

Maybe Enlargement won’t work with the cd reduction trait.
Warriors have “Shake It Off!” triggered by a trait but the cd reduction trait is not applied even if the “Shouts heals” trait is applied.

Imo your 2nd build is better.
But with 3 Survival skills you could take Wilderness Knowledge.
And with 50% condi duration, I don’t know if Sigil of venom is the best option for your SB. You could also apply perma Poison with S/D so again Sigil of venom is maybe not the best option Try Sigil of Geomancy or Sigil of Earth maybe.

I think you could replace your trinkets with the Rabits ones because 160 in Healing Power is useless and you’ll have more Precision. This way you could drop your food for the Rare Veggie Pizza.
I agree with jcbroe that you should drop 10 points from NM in SS and take Sharpened Edges.
SotW w/o healing power is maybe not the best option even if I know that having 3 sources of regeneration is nice.

Why do you choose the Rune of the Adventurer? I think you don’t have enough power for a hybrid build. If you want a hybrid build you should probably take some Carrion parts.

I use this build mainly for wvw roaming, some zerging, and spvp. It is simply fantastic because of how well you can pin down your opponent. The main problem with using ranger melee weapons is that they really can’t prevent your opponent from kiting. But with this build you have tons of immobile + chill every time you weapon swap. Another advantage is that since your pet attacks from range and you attack from melee, your pet will rarely be hit by enemy attacks, so you don’t really have to worry about their health.

You’ll be very tanky with this build while still retaining the ability to dish out damage due to the fact that you have (almost) max power. Keep in mind to use axe #4 when your target is immobilized to ensure it double hits and cc’s them. Also try to always be on your opponent, unless they start to AoE, to ensure they are chilled when you weapon swap. Good luck mate.

Seems good. Do you try it with Predator’s Instinct instead of Spotter?

We do want to but we also want this to be a weapon with some evasion capability on it, otherwise we would not have made the auto-attack on it evade in the first place.

Making it 3s cast would be enough. It’d become a kind of burst skill we really need.

I’m agree with that even if an evade will allow to avoid a bigger part of the damage.
It’s a very simple solution to provide to LB a little burst.

Natural Vigor

This trait is just simply less OP than Critical Infusion or Vigorous Precision (Vigor can be buffed in duration).
This change will not ruin survivability but try to be fair with every class.

Spirits Unbound and Nature’s Voice

Good for builds diversity.
But concerning “Guard” spamming with Nature’s Voice, do you like the idea that we use a skill to trigger a trait? Should we not use a skill because of the skill itself?

Power Rangers

So you say we won’t have to make of full signet build to have a nearly decent power build? Seems great!
Concerning the 3rd attack of the auto-chain I don’t think a whirl finisher will empower it. To empower Greatsword you can increase the base damage and/or add Might(Power Stab giving Might sounds nice)

Main-hand sword

How long do we have to wait for an other one handed melee option?
I really like Ranger offhand weapons but it’s means I have to choose a mainhand weapon… Crazy ninja sword or bouncy low DPS axe

Shortbow Rework

Not really, since it’s called a *Short*bow for a reason

Totally makes sense or… not. Rangers can throw axes and a daggers further.
They nerfed SB range to make LB more viable.

I think that your idea it’s too complicated to be implemented. It’s a whole new system for only one weapon.
But i think Shotbow could be more fun too by improving the current skills :
- Change “Poison Volley” to “Poison Deluge” : Fire a spread of poison arrows on a target that explodes on impact and hits multiple foes. More damage than “Crossfire” maybe the double + 10s Poison within a 180 radius around the target. Increase the CD to 10s.
- On “Crippling Shot”, increase the cripple duration to 6s or add a 1s immo on “Crippling Shot”
- On "Concussion Shot, increase to stun radius and Increase the stun/daze duration or reduce the CD to 20s

My version of SB#2 sounds a bit like yours.

My feeback about the Ranger part :

  • Long Range Shot. Increased the damage at 500 range by 20%.
  • Long Range Shot. Increased the damage at 500-1000 range by 15%.

For the moment LB#1 at 1000+ has already a better DPS than LB#2.
With this update LB#1 at 500+ will be nearly as good as LB#2 (without the vulnerability stacks).
I think LB#2 cast time should be reduced to at least 3s to be competitive with LB#1. It should be a real way to burst a target.

  • Marksmanship V – Predator’s Instinct. Increased the threshold from 25% to 50%. Increased the Cripple Duration from 2s to 10s. Increased the cooldown from 15s to 30s.

It could be nice to cover others conditions
But it’s still not competitive enough with the others adept traits, Ranger already has access to a lot of Cripple and a lot of classes have access to a Cripple removal.
Maybe an Immobilize or a Cripple+Torment(Predator’s Instinct makes sens with Torment) could make this trait more sexy.

  • Marksmanship VI – Beastmaster’s Bond. Decreased the cooldown from 90s to 60s.

Sorry but I don’t like the concept of this trait and the traits I to IV would still be better.

  • Skirmishing XII – Moment of Clarity. Stun Duration increased from 50% to 100%.

I’m sorry Jon but, you mean Stun and Daze Duration, right ?

  • Wilderness 5 Natural Vigor. Reduced the increased endurance regeneration from 50% to 25%.

I’m ok with that if similar Skills and Traits are also considered (Adrenal Implant, Vigorous Scepter, Zephyr’s Focus, Signet of Stamina, …)

  • Wilderness VIII – Oakheart Salve. Decreased the recharge of this trait from 20s to 15s

I think Torment should be added to list of the triggers.
Anyway, there are too many good traits in the Wilderness line to make it considered even with a 15s cd maybe you could change it in an active condition clean.

  • Wilderness XII – Bark Skin Increased the damage reduction from 30% to 50%.

Very nice but it could be too powerfull against direct damage with the adequate build. But Engineer can be nearly immune to conditions under 25% without a specific build so why not…

  • Nature Magic IX – Two Handed Training. Added the following functionality to this trait. Greatsword and Spear attacks have a chance to grant Fury on hit. 50% chance. 3s Fury. 10s cooldown.

I don’t know… i guess it could help GS/Valkyrie build.
But for Gardian you made this change “Radiance X – Powerful blades. Increased damage from 5% to 10%.” and it’s in the Precision line and for Ranger you add Fury with RND in the Vitality line.
I think the opposite makes more sense or instead of Fury add a defensive boon or Weakness maybe.

  • Nature Magic X – Enlargement. This trait now uses Signet of the Wild to trigger. This reduces the cooldown to 60 seconds and allow it to interact with the Signet of the Beastmaster and Signet Mastery traits.

Very interesting. You will need 50 points to make your build around it. Seems very nice but not without cost so… wait’n see.

  • Nature Magic VII – Nature’s Vengeance. Moved to Grandmaster Tier.
  • Nature Magic XI – Spirits Unbound. Moved to Master Tier.

Nice for builds diversity.

  • Storm Spirit. Reduced the damage from the Call Lightning skill by 33%.

Storm Spirit is chosen mainly because of Call Lightning. It’s one of Ranger’s few burst skills and it’s not that easy to use.
With the swap between Nature’s Vengeance and Spirits Unbound, Nature’s Vengeance will be less used and there’ll also be less Call Lightning.
So I don’t think this change is mandatory.

Ranger:
_For the ranger, we’ve adjusted the placement of some traits so that rangers should have more build combinations.

Some tracks to improve builds diversity :

  • Signets and Traps still need 30 points.
  • LB needs at least 40 points to be effective, you should maybe merge some traits.
  • Traps should not be in the Skirmishing line and/or should be more damage base (Please take a look at Necro’s Wells).
  • Shouts could have a support role just by adding some boons. They should be more like Warrior and Gardien ones. This way they won’t need 30 points in the Nature Line to be usefull. And remove the cast time from “Gard”.

Finally, please do something about Sword#1

Maybe an Immobilize or a Cripple+Torment(Predator’s Instinct makes sens with Torment) could make this trait more sexy.

  • Marksmanship VI – Beastmaster’s Bond. Decreased the cooldown from 90s to 60s.

Sorry but I don’t like the concept of this trait and the traits I to IV would still be better.

  • Skirmishing XII – Moment of Clarity. Stun Duration increased from 50% to 100%.

I’m sorry Jon but, you mean Stun and Daze Duration, right ?

  • Wilderness 5 Natural Vigor. Reduced the increased endurance regeneration from 50% to 25%.

I’m ok with that if similar Skills and Traits are also considered (Adrenal Implant, Vigorous Scepter, Zephyr’s Focus, Signet of Stamina, …)

  • Wilderness VIII – Oakheart Salve. Decreased the recharge of this trait from 20s to 15s

I think Torment should be added to list of the triggers.
Anyway, there are too many good traits in the Wilderness line to make it considered even with a 15s cd maybe you could change it in an active condition clean.

  • Wilderness XII – Bark Skin Increased the damage reduction from 30% to 50%.

Very nice but it could be too powerfull against direct damage with the adequate build. But Engineer can be nearly immune to conditions under 25% without a specific build so why not…

  • Nature Magic IX – Two Handed Training. Added the following functionality to this trait. Greatsword and Spear attacks have a chance to grant Fury on hit. 50% chance. 3s Fury. 10s cooldown.

I don’t know… i guess it could help GS/Valkyrie build.
But for Gardian you made this change “Radiance X – Powerful blades. Increased damage from 5% to 10%.” and it’s in the Precision line and for Ranger you add Fury with RND in the Vitality line.
I think the opposite makes more sense or instead of Fury add a defensive boon or Weakness maybe.

  • Nature Magic X – Enlargement. This trait now uses Signet of the Wild to trigger. This reduces the cooldown to 60 seconds and allow it to interact with the Signet of the Beastmaster and Signet Mastery traits.

Very interesting. You will need 50 points to make your build around it. Seems very nice but not without cost so… wait’n see.

  • Nature Magic VII – Nature’s Vengeance. Moved to Grandmaster Tier.
  • Nature Magic XI – Spirits Unbound. Moved to Master Tier.

Nice for builds diversity.

  • Storm Spirit. Reduced the damage from the Call Lightning skill by 33%.

Storm Spirit is chosen mainly because of Call Lightning. It’s one of Ranger’s few burst skills and it’s not that easy to use.
With the swap between Nature’s Vengeance and Spirits Unbound, Nature’s Vengeance will be less used and there’ll also be less Call Lightning.
So I don’t think this change is mandatory.

Ranger:
_For the ranger, we’ve adjusted the placement of some traits so that rangers should have more build combinations.

Some tracks to improve builds diversity :

  • Signets and Traps still need 30 points.
  • LB needs at least 40 points to be effective, you should maybe merge some traits.
  • Traps should not be in the Skirmishing line and/or should be more damage base (Please take a look at Necro’s Wells).
  • Shouts could have a support role just by adding some boons. They should be more like Warrior and Gardien ones. This way they won’t need 30 points in the Nature Line to be usefull. And remove the cast time from “Gard”.

Finally, please do something about Sword#1

General : Make AI more reliable (even the bad guys) They’re too easy to kite. I can kite a mob running in circles while my pet can’t touch the mob -_-
so…
Ranger : Pets more reliable or remove them and give us back our damage!

I’m not sure how to read it if its the server’s focus or the focus on the server (you follow me right ?>_<)

Look at the Focus stats make your point. At least what you can read is “there is no focus from VS on BB”.

- Protect Me: Instead of attacking, your pet will protect you by absorbing all damage you would take for 6 seconds and pull all conditions from you and nearby allies.

The pet will die even faster… “Protect Me” should be rename with “Die for me” ^^

Skills that buff allies in an AoE now prioritize party members.

It’s not working with pets’ buffs…. not sure if it’s a bug or not. Does our pet is a party member or a individual/independant entity?

I tested it yesterday just before the matchup reset. So there was a lot of people at the same place just in front of the WvW portal.

I didn’t test it because i’m in the WvW queue but i guess it’s a tooltip typo.

That’s my current Setup if anyone is curious.

Only thing really giving me trouble with now is Necromancers.

I think 1200+ healing power is more than enough.
Why do you think about the Dire Armor instead of the Apothecary one? or about Dire weapons instead of Settler ones.
You could get more condi damage and more vitality instead of that amout of healing power i guess.

The only time (at least in my experience) that the pet swap feature has an extended cooldown is when the pet actually dies. But if your doing the pet swap at 25% health, that shouldn’t happen.

Sometimes you just can’t… except maybe with a heavy BM build.

AoE spells with a maximum number of targets will now count combatants that block or evade the attack towards that maximum.

I couldn’t test it by myself but with that change do the pets and minions survive longer?

If the flanking requirement is removed they’d have to change something about the bleed duration or about the attack speed otherwise crossfire will be OP.
