I think this is a tremendous effort and I’m really glad to see they were able to achieve rankings that accounted for things like solo que’ers matches and ratings versus premade pug stomp matches and ratings. Overall great job!
Yeah I totally hear you on this. I can’t tell you how often I think about this very issue. On a related note, it would also be cool if they had things like leaderboards, custom arenas, solo/premade split ques, and class balance… but obviously that should all come second to making rare dyes available across all of your toons.
I guess I just don’t understand what all the commotion is about. The leaderboards have been visible and up for ages. I just don’t understand why they haven’t been updated in over a month. I guess it is the bug Sharp is mentioning…but alot of the QQ here is about leaderboards missing a deadline…and quite frankly it appears they were WAY AHEAD of schedule.

Only build on compeitive teams I saw since the patch is longbow, sword /sword with banners at the moment.
rofl – are you being serious? I actually just made a warrior build 3 days back that uses undead runes/rabid amulet with longbow and sword/sword. Was running 0/30/20/20/0 build with power/condition banner stamina signet and balanced stance.
My condition dmg was around 1600 with over 2k toughness and your banner is useful for swiftness and one rush on it. Was trying it in tpvp and actually killed some guardians/engies with it… but it struggles against classes that get up in your face like the ele d/d.
I thought it could be somewhat viable… but it is sad how much harder you have to try on this toon compared to others to achieve any results.
I said on competitive teams, with VOIP. No point to play warrior in soloQue, because you need ppl who can carry you.
I agree, was laughing because I thought I had invented something crazy ridiculous and completely unheard of and then read your post and it was literally the same weapon set build. Just funny.

the key for me was setting up the longbow burst skill. once it is full adrenal… use pin down and fire the longbow burst on the immob target. from there i switch to sword/sword which has poison up on switch. leap to target and immediately hit with impale.
the conditions can nuke a target but the setup is bulky/cumbersome to get going.

(unsuspecting foe) – 50% crit chance on stunned foes: After numerous tests… i feel confident that this trait is not working. I have shield bash into eviscerate numerous times…and the dmg is never critting.
Formula for your rank is as follows per the last sotg leak discussion:
hope that helps.

the strategy you type out lasts for about the first 30 seconds of the game. Due to how trivial it actually is on the entire outcome of the match..why even bother. To discuss strat and options is to discuss the entire match..because anything other than completely fluid and ongoing discussion is called a guide or walkthrough..and you’re doing PVe at that point. This is a pvp forum…so guides/walkthroughs don’t apply.
oh and this just in – apparently voice com is actually in the game. It is just invisible.
#soon
I think the answer to this question is somewhat simple. People don’t communicate because communication tools to do so don’t exist. Take counter-strike for example. A game that has been around for 10+years. When you join a scrim team or a 40 man pub… you instantly have access to call out strats using the in-game voice com. It is not just beneficial…in games like gw2 tpvp…it SHOULD BE REQUIRED.
Now..since that does not exist…those that communicate are making a conscious effort to log into a 3rd party chat program and work together. You are only going to do this with ppl that you enjoy gaming with. For the average player logging into the game…having four others online to voice up with is a huge barrier to entry.
Lastly, since you do not have four ppl online, if you go and join a pug premade group and voice up.. you had better plan to stay awhile. but hey, these guys are pugs..what if they suck? you don’t know their ratings..maybe you are r40 with experience and they are r20 terribles. No one wants to be an kitten and just bail on a bad pug. So instead, just take the lotto approach of solo que and accept that 1/2 the time you’ll get bads and 1/2 the time you wont.
that is the problem. – put a voice com in the game and problem is gone.
if a 10+ year old game can do it… it can’t be that hard. it just can’t be.
I was thinking about Custom Arenas recently and an idea popped in my head; could we be allowed to set the boundaries of a map? For instance, could we be allowed to say only the middle of Legacy of the Foefire is a combat zone and everyone gets spawned around that area?
I believe having the ability to set boundaries around an area allows for less “running away to heal up” scenarios in the inevitable deathmatch arenas we’re going to get from customs.
The solution to this request is actually relatively simple and could easily be implemented even in current tpvp matches that are occurring today. Gleaning the tools used to create leaderboards… simply make invisible boundaries in the map that you are playing. Whether or not anyone abides to the boundaries is another story…and I currently suspect there would be very low participation to stay within the boundaries…because they are invisible.
wild bill is the best period if you would type in gw2 thief wild bill and watch his videos of wvw he does not just show the high lights he shows 15 min of streight video . he goesd 1v2 1v3 1v4 1v5 1v6 1v7 and he wins and most of the ones he fight out gear him how is that not the best please do not respond to my reply inless you have watched his videos
Robert, do you play a thief? probably not.
Let me explain to you why wild bill is far from a talented thief. The videos you are glorifying show him using a build that has nearly 2K toughness and 3k armour with literally almost 100% stealth uptime and heals/condition removals while in stealth. It is pistol/dagger condition bleed spam with literally just sneak attack and then reapply cloak and dagger. At the time of those videos stealth had not been nerfed to 4 secs and culling still existed in WvW. But most importantly, with that build there is almost ZERO risk to wild bill the entire time he is playing. The dmg he can take is considerable with the toughness/armor and the stealth being continually up allows him to easily regen health and condi removal. It is complete and total cheese. The only time you would even see his thief was for the 2 secs he came out of stealth with the stealth pistol opener of sneak attack.
As far as gear goes… he has a legendary pistol. He completely outgears many if not all of the ppl he kills in the video. Lastly, this is WvW. A place where food buffs and underlevel newbs roam wild. There is no level playing field there. You can literally be killing lvl 20’s that are being up-leveled. It is a joke. His build in spvp would be completely useless. It would not capture a point…it would not even contest a point…because it requires him to be in almost constant stealth.
And the final and most over-powered reason his videos are cheese…. in WvW there are thousands of NPC’s for him to stand near and CnD off of to reapply his attack on players. This is laughable. Most of his fights occur in strategic gank spots where he can use NPC’s as well as his opponents to ensure constant re-application and uptime of stealth.
That build is nearly unkillable. The thief has to literally go afk to die. I ran it for months in wvw. You could jump into entire 20 and 30 man zergs…and kill a person without even worrying. I admit it is fun… but it is the pinnacle of cheese.
(edited by mursie.3681)
Besides it will only show the top 100 so it is pointless for 99% of the population.
actually, if it captures the top 100 then 100% of the pvp population will get a rank… and I’d wager that leaves room still for about another 35 ppl to get ranked.
i think internet is like an happy island in which anyone can say what they want , because every time only customers will pay for every lie.
u buy the game bad advertised. peace, you could not buy it, simple no?
u buy the client. if u are reported software house can BAN you. it is like i buy a car and his house take it back because i said something wrong.
so internet is a make money machine. just that.
“Mr. Madison, what you’ve just said is one of the most insanely idiotic things I have ever heard. Anet Dev #1: “Omg, it’s the 26th of March and we have to release this patch! Please tell me we have something we can post up about new features being brought into pvp”
Anet Dev#2: “Uh, we have nothing new to release… deleting 8 team tournies from the menu list was all the resources we had.”
Anet Dev#1: “ARRRRHHHHHH… what are we gonna do? The community will kill us”
Anet Dev#2: “Well, I have an idea but its a stretch. See, we can actually tell the community that we have new features they have been wanting and we are releasing them on the 26th… but you just can’t SEE them. Because, you know, they are invisible”
Anet Dev#1: “Omg man, that is freaking genius. Of course, yes, we will tell them we are releasing cool new features they have been wanting…and that they are just INVISIBLE”
Anet Dev#2: “Well I said it was a stretch, you actually think they will buy this”
Anet Dev#1: “Rofl, are you kidding me? of course they will. Bunch of 15 year old mouth breathing bieber fans… I just can’t believe we didn’t think of this earlier”
(edited by mursie.3681)
They have actually done quite alot since game launch.. so please don’t be mis-guided by the negativity posted thus far.
First, they removed gems from being obtained via tpvp.
Second, they removed QP’s from being obtained via tpvp.
Third, they removed tournament tickets from tpvp.
Fourth, they removed 8 team tournies from tpvp.
Fifth, they removed the warrior from tpvp.
They added 2 brand new maps.
They added 2 team tournaments (or matches if you will).
Futhermore, a number of exciting new features have been added -
Culling is now gone. However, a new form of culling now exists as identified in the following new features:
Leaderboards exist – you currently can’t see them
Custom Arenas exist – you currently can’t see them
matchmaking ratings and elo exist – you currently can’t see them
duels exist – you currently can’t see them
GvG and monthly tournies exist – these can’t be seen currently
Lastly, class balance has been shifting progressively towards a homogenization of one profession for ultimate and perfect balance. The discovery that having all players play the same class with the same available utilities made possible the idea that everyone could actually be completely equal to one another. As mentioned earlier… the first step towards this goal was the elimination of the warrior. I believe the rest of the professions will continue to be slowly phased out until either the guardian or ele remains. It is uncertain at this time, (can’t be seen yet), which one will ultimately be the standard class.
hope this helps.
still screwed
Please help ;_;
Sucks man. Perhaps this can bring you a little bit of solace during the interim while you wait. www.justinbiebermusic.com
“Whack-a-Mole” is a pretty accurate statement of what they’ve been doing thus-far.
At least from Thief PoV.
In order:
Unload, VShare, Pistolwhip, TacticalStrike(Daze/CC build) + Dagger Offhand, Pistolwhip and Unload again (via quickness)+ Condi+ Another dagger offhand nerf via 4sec reveal.
Mind you, most of these have been 33-50% nerfs, rendering the builds unviable especially in a competitive setting. At this point either you play D/P burst because it’s the only thing untouched or you reroll ele.
+1
my thought exactly!
All professions should be able to fill multiple roles (not all roles) but they ALL should have something that semperates them from the others, something that only they can do or at least to better than any other.
Thief was suppose to be the one with high burst, high mobility and evasiveness.
Clearly other professions beet Thieves in all the above aspects specially Elementalists that beat us on ALL of them but even if they didn’t there are still other professions that beat us on the aspects i just mention. Like Rangers and Mesmer evasiveness and mobility and as for burst also Mesmers and GC Guardians and Warriors, this last one is at the bottom of the foodchain atm but can still dish out loads of dmg.
Elementalist isn’t OP I don’t think, it just has FUN options to it that every other class needs, and IT needs a Sustained Damage option too, that is what it kind of lacks, the ability to play just one attunement and be fine.
I never thought the Ele was ever OP, I just think its more “complete” then the other classes in what it can and can’t do.
Karl, seriously…. i know you come on here trolling on your daecollo account..but it isn’t funny. you know darn well the state of the ele.
you reroll ele.
Sorry but you had some fragmented sentence structures before the actual statement you were making. I cleaned it up for you in-case anyone were to get lost deciphering the true message. No thank you necessary… I know you would do the same for me.
Good thieves don’t waste time making vids of themselves rolling noobs lol. They’re too busy actually playing the game to remain on top.
lol adaneshade, it appears you missed the memo. See, if you transfer to anvil rock and roll a premade for six hours every day pug stomping the 2 team tournies… you are decidedly pro. You know, cause 1/2 the ppl still playing are pre level 10 solo queing for them laurelz!!!! Man you dominated those pve clowns. So Consider yourself now informed.
It’s not about your skill, it’s about how many buddies you can bring to the yard! Feel me dawg!! OOH YEAAAAAA
nevermind that they are 15 and sound like bieber circa 2007, the fact that you pug stomp every night with that posse makes you dope yo. Plus, I hear they put your name up on a board somewhere… some day … or something like that.
You don’t get better gear when you play counter-strike. Yet thousands of people play it.
This will be hard for you to hear..but unfortunately it is the truth – people play pvp.. for pvp. If you think you need more than that.. you probably aren’t a pvp’er. More than likely you are a pve’er that accidentally clicked the wrong menu option.
It is actually working as intended. The devs stated on the last SOTG that they wanted to promote ppl playing together as teams. To that end, the implemented measures whereby high ranked teams would only face low rank pugs… almost assuredly guaranteeing the 5 man team a victory. The thought was simple – by guaranteeing victory to the 5 man team that que’ed.. we guarantee their fun (because winning is fun)…and that will then promote more ppl to play teams..because ppl want to have fun.
i guess that is my problem.. always has been. I want a team game scrim but with the hopes that everyone is equal and anyone can kill anyone. I.e. counter-strike. Your team scrims another team…but you can individually kill any one on the other team. Not some bullkitten where “oh he is a ele… i’ll have to just leave and give them the win”
I guess i wasn’t cut out for games like this.
just played against a scepter/dagger ele that was bunker spec with cantrips. wow. can’t even remotely dent him and his dmg is nothing to sneeze at..and ranged..
I can’t kite him to try and widdle down for a burst shot. just completely outmatched. if you try a surprise burst… mist form. if you try to trick-shot till he is widdled down for a burst….his range on scepter/dagger will actually out dmg you and his attunement swaps and double water heals (triple actually with evasive) has his health not even moving..
I literally just have to walk away.
TL:DR: Ele’s who were already on top tier got a buff and he’s happy.
I dont see anything wrong with that unless you think thief should run only burst and ele only bunker.
So just to sum up this thread:
Eles can bunker
Eles can now burst (because burst classes like thieves and warriors are now easily killable..even on a bursty light armor ele).
It’s not that eles should only bunk and thieves only burst. It’s that it shouldn’t be eles burst AND bunk.. and warriors/thieves L2reroll.
debating is worthless: The answer is simple -
If $10,000 were on the line in a winner take all 5 man tourny today, without question the winning composition would be a mix of ele/guard.
If you want to debate that you believe you could win bringing your thief.. go ahead. I truly believe that if $10,000 were at stake, the only classes being played would be those 2. I don’t even think mes/engy/ranger would be brought into the discussion.
this is obviously assuming current game mode of conquest.
(edited by mursie.3681)
…the ONLY viable classes in the game to be competitive with other teams that will “win at all costs”. And yes – winning at all costs will mean FOUR eles (if not five) and a guardian.
It just gets worse for you right now.
Because you lack the understanding to comprehend what you are even arguing, I will spell it out for you.
1. Mr. Big (not mursie) creates a thread indicating viability of thief and its relative viability to warrior
2. Others disagree with Mr. Big’s statements
3. Mr. Big replies that other’s disagreement will have to wait until people run into four and five ele teams
4. I, Mursie, respond that his words fall on deaf ears. That current competition does not run an abused meta of four and five eles because no incentives exist to do such.
5. A person that can’t read says they do not see 3 and 4 and 5 ele teams.
6. I, Mursie, respond they need to read. Reading is fundamental because I explained why 3 and 4 ele teams are not currently being abused (i.e. because there are no incentives)
7. You come in and claim that my writing is in question because I authored the thread and made the comments actually made in point #1.. by Mr. Big
8. I point out that, as originally stated, reading is fundamental.
9. You take a piece of my writing, completely out of its context, and think you have made a point. You have not. Because again, you have failed to read.
Ok, i guess i was simply too impetous.
I’ll repost the same thread in a weak, we’ll see how much your attitude will change.
Give time to the ele meta to stabilize, then we’ll talk again.
In the current state of the game, your words unfortunately fall on deaf ears. That is because there is no actual competition even in tpvp at the moment. No reason to… as no incentives or ladder or anything else exists.
However, when leaderboards emerge… it is without question that your remarks will actually materialize. When teams begin to reform they will have to fall in line and begin playing the ONLY viable classes in the game to be competitive with other teams that will “win at all costs”. And yes – winning at all costs will mean FOUR eles (if not five) and a guardian.
The day will come, once incentives or leaderboards are established… Right now, the greatest buff the ele’s have received thus far is the death of paid tournies, the removal of QP’s, and the delay of leaderboards. With those all not present, the ele has not truly been exposed for its complete ridiculousness because teams are not actively abusing it in this state of non-competition. That will eventually change…
rofl.. i just love the voice.. I feel like i’m being taught warrior by Arnold Schwarzenegger
I totally agree Jon. Or is it Karl? I always get your account confused.
clearly condi’s were somehow linked to the quickness formula. The tampering of quickness in 1/2 turned the application in dots to 1/2 time as well =)
in wvw is was way overpowered… engies and mesmers were already abusing pre-patch. a prybar would literally kill you instantly if you tried to pop your heal. apparently in spvp confusion was nerfed to 1/2 dmg from what was in wvw. maybe they reverted that nerf by mistake.
if it deals the same dmg as wvw… engies with prybar and mesmers will indeed by Kings
They didn’t even say they fixed the tornado bug >.> so 5 ele v 5 ele=unbalanced
wow… i’m afraid Karl can’t win. If ppl think 5 eles vs. 5 eles is still unbalanced… there is no hope.
none the less, I will try to explain why this is actually very balanced. If you are playing a class with five total abilities… and I play the exact same class with the exact same five abilities… then theoretically there is no difference that distinguishes us other than our skill. Given that maps and latencies are variables that not even God can control… we will assume their influence on balance is negligible as all are affected by that environment. But, the skills you can use versus me… if they are different…could potentially be better and could be explaining why you beat me. See, it is not that you are better than me… just your class is better than my class. BUT – if we all play the same class… even that excuse should be removed.
Again – great job here…. we are moving towards a brighter…dare i say e-sport…. future!
So somehow my earlier post got deleted and infracted even though it demonstrated clear compliments to the developer team for their proactive steps towards great balance in this game. Thus, i’ll try to really be clear about my compliments in this thread to remove any potential doubt.
I love anet’s move to improve game balance by homogenizing the player base into one profession. This improves balance because we now all have the same abilities available to use and no one can call foul that their opponent had an unfair ability advantage. To achieve this balance of homogenization…anet took the necessary first steps, in my humble opinion, to begin quasi-deleting unnecessary classes (like the warrior). I say – Job well done!! and I beg anet to Finish what they have started…and bring the other profs into a state of non-use … so we can all begin to play this wonderful game on a very even, balanced, level playing field. Now, I will not be the one to state what that ONE class should be…but it appears, again in my humble opinion, to be either the elementalist…or perhaps the guardian. I am indifferent to eventual victor …. I will play whatever ultimately reigns … but again… I think the balance efforts have been extraordinary and I want to give major props and compliments to the design and balance team at anet for mastering what would otherwise be a very difficult task of balancing a ton of variables.
Please…if this is somehow rude or disruptive to anyone… please educate me. Because I am trying to give praise…respect…love… for what is a remarkable feat of balancing achievement.
Thank you
yeah just looked. no leaderboards. they are “beginning to record data”… SILENTLY… to mythical leaderboards you can not see.
i.e. (we didn’t get this in the patch..but with clever wordplay we can say we did…in a sense)
i missed the part where ladders would be displayed. can someone link that part of the patch?
I really don’t understand how people can’t see the positive in everything that Anet is doing. First, alot of people have been complaining about class balance. Many feel certain classes are way to strong and others way to weak. Their is currently EIGHT freaking classes to balances with tons of weapon sets and tons of utilities. That is alot of work. And if you saw the recent SOTG with the class balancer Dev (Karl I believe) you would quickly realize that balancing the equilibrium of just walking on two feet is probably more than enough challenge for him in one day.
Given these facts, anet has literally begun doing what I feel is the ultimate way to balance the classes. See, by nerfing the thief and neglecting the ranger, necro, warrior, and engi anet is starting to create a class divide. The bottom half of classes no one needs to worry about because they will no longer be in the game. Class balance on these toons is now solved. Gradually, we hopefully can then get to a state of further neglect of the top classes like mesmer and guardian… leaving only the ONE class – ele… to really worry about.
But if there is only ONE class, then no matter what abilities it has…it is balanced…because ALL players have these abilities because they ALL play the one class.
My god Karl and anet…freaking brilliant. Here I was worried that you guys couldn’t find your way out of a paper box…and instead I now see an ingenious design to actually create the ULTIMATE CLASS BALANCE.
Kudos guys… simply marvelous. I will never doubt this team again. The people wanted balance… Anet delivered. One class, one set of abilities… balance is now shared by all.
OP, it seems you really don’t understand how ridicolously broken the ele is currently.
The ele is ruining the whole meta, and no i’m not exaggerating.
I guess call me crazy, but I just can’t see how tomorrow’s patch isn’t a major game changer for the better. For so long, the thief has basically had only one viable build in tpvp. We all know this to be the burst build. Since you can’t stealth cap a node, your only true option is to take your burst…and hit someone that is already engaged.
Now, in today’s competitive scene, a vast majority of really good players are still not even bothered by this burst. That is due to the fact that many classes have a ton of get out of jail free cards: [mist form, elixir S, endure pain, guardian invul heal, plague form, distortion or blurred frenzy, etc. ect..] I bring this up because in this highly competitive scene, the thief is almost nill. Its one sole purpose is largely mitigated by good players and their knowledge of how to avoid burst.
The good news though, and why I think tomorrow is such a huge win for this game, is that the burst of the thief is likely to get nerfed when they nerf mug damage. This is literally gamechanging stuff. See, with the nerf to mug, you are nerfing the thief’s primary burst option. This is good, because the only reason to bring a thief into the match is for his burst. Now that we nerf the burst, we really don’t need to bring the thief. WIN!
For so long, I am sure ppl knew ppl that played thiefs. You reluctantly gamed with these guys because they did have burst. I mean, maybe they don’t do a ton…but they can, like a warrior, really wtfdestroy someone if they aren’t looking. Now, with tomorrow’s patch, you really don’t have to feel bad about not including the thief. The thief literally does nothing for your team. Not even burst!
I believe this game should be mostly guardians and ele’s with a sprinkle of mesmer, ranger and engineer. Tomorrow’s patch is a huge step in achieving this goal. I ultimately think Anet would like to get rid of the ranger… as they don’t spend to much time discussing it anyways…but those nerfs will have to wait.
On a side note, this also drastically improves hotjoins. Now instead of seeing thieves and mesmers… It will just be mesmers. And recognizing how to deal with just 1 class is a hell of a lot easier than dealing with 2. So all in all I think anet should be commended for the improvements they are bringing to the game on 3/26. Overall improvement to the core classes of tpvp, the removal of that guilty feeling when you didn’t take your thief friend, and the improvement of the hot-join scene with just 1 class to really have to study.
Kudos Anet! Job well done.

bump! we’re still looking!
Hello,
[AP] is a small sized tournament pvp guild that primarily focuses on tpvp. We are central time zone based and play reguarly during the week from 6pm to midnight as well as the weekend. Our members are mostly r40+ and we’re mostly 25+ in age.
If you are looking for a laid back tpvp atmosphere with players that are interested at more than just a casual level then please send me a tell. We do have a little bit of pve interest (cof speed runs) and we are currently unlocking guild bounty missions (although the new patch will make this even easier..we have art of war V and guild bounties now unlocked).
Looking for a few more players to run tournies with at night. We have ventrilo..but not required.. We do want players with very strong knowledge of their class and a high interest in playing tpvp. We will likely want to run a few matches with you one night before any invites are given to make sure it’s a good fit.
Thanks and see you in game!
Your words have alot of truth. Good Job.
Reminds me of a sellout I used to know. Poor chap got all caught up in being too cool for school. Had to diss all of his friends to hang out with 15 year olds and listen to them enlighten him on things like crayons and diapers. Poor poor chap.
Oh well.. the good news is, he will one day be rewarded with the title “greatest engineer to play a flopped pvp game”. No one really cares though, because this isn’t an e-sport or anything. But hey, at least he’s got a cool 15 year old hangout.
Sellouts…. so pathetic. -,o
oh there you are!
Hey Everyone,
Almost Pro would like to invite anyone interested in having a fun, laid back, all-around gw2 experience to our humble home. We’ve been around since launch with almost all categories of the guild roster (economy, war, architecture, etc..) built up. We are currently working on Art of War V and plan to start conducting guild missions very soon. We have a ventrilo server if you would like for a free voice chat room.
Our guild is primarily structured around working adults using their weekday evenings and weekends to game. We’ve got players that love to pve, love to wvw. and love to tpvp. You will find all arenas here. If interested, please shoot myself or sanny.1270 a tell for an invite.
Major objectives of our guild:
1. Guild missions
2. tpvp
3. wvw and the new progression
4. COF speed runs for funding our wallets
5. getting our dailies/monthlies completed.
See you in game and thanks for taking the time to read!
Maybe the community can help me out on this. I am reading about a spawn imbalance with relation to a team’s close point. However, from playing with some regulars the last few nights, I was informed that close point is completely irrelevant. In spirit watch there is no “close point”…just go and contest any point.
I have read other arguments which seem to contradict this statement. Some have said that close point is absolutely vital to hold…and let an orb runner (preferably an overpowered guardian or elementalist) run the orb to points…while always mainting and holding close point.
So which is it? Are all points equal and hold whatever u can contest and get? Or is your close point to your spawn vital..and should be held if you expect not to fail?
Thx for your help
Que’d forever. Doesn’t seem to pop. Over multiple days now..these tournies seem completely dead. ANyone else notice the same?
GW2 really needs more game modes, I don’t imagine it being hard to put in Team Arenas or Random Arenas. Simple just kill the other team is what’s needed.
The game modes are built in as secondary objectives to the map. Temple of Silent Storm has a “kill the other team” buff that awards more points for kills. The new spirit watch emphasizes non bunker mentalities with the introduction of the orb.
It is conquest that gets ppl moving around the map. It is secondary objectives that add the spice you seek. It is time required to balance the two such that bunkering…or just killing in a zerg machine…do not completely dominate the landscape of competitive play.
I apologize if this has already been said but, I feel like everyone is really getting fleeced here.
First, the barrier to entry of “paids” was all but removed when paids became a single match 1 ticket option. Everyone has tickets…you get them for literally afking your daily in a hotjoin, so doing a “paid” no longer had a barrier. Second, the matchmaking in these new “paids” was already in place and working.
With that said, this BIG NEW PVP Patch is literally quite unbelievable from what I read on the front page of the site. Basically, to paraphrase, the patch is as follows:
“Hi all, we renamed the “paid” tournament to “free”. There is no 1 ticket cost either. Infact..we deleted tickets. Oh, and your QP’s too.
The free tournaments that existed still exist. We did not change them.
THIS IS HUGE!!!!!"
uh…deleting tickets and Qp’s and renaming the “paid” to “free” is huge? sigh
I’m seriously not trying to troll, so if you think I am please comment on why I am ludicrous. But from a thief’s perspective…. I see it like this
1. GUARDIAN – this class is so broken stupid…. in the game’s only pvp arena…. that I literally find myself asking why I don’t just go and roll this stupid thing already. Literally ZERO skill required. Just stand on a point… and turtle. You can literally eat anything a player throws at you…. and the best part.. you just kill them by having them.. KILL THEMSELVES on retal. sigh – When a guardian will stand inside your blind field…because they know – it doesn’t matter… that is broken.
after a long drop from the god heights of Guardian… then comes
2 & 3. Ele / Ranger
4. Mesmer
5. Thief
6. Warrior
7 & 8: Necro / Engy
