I did it few days ago on my guardian and it was hard, but not impossible, alone and died just few times. Thing is that most of the mobs will de-aggro when you retreat trough the gates which I used to pull vets one by one to the gate area and kill them there without too much problems.
Use ranged to pull vet to the inside of the gate and then whatever you like to kill them … rinse and repeat
Is it true there can be only one character with each name in the whole set of worlds?
afaik yes, names are global across all servers (confirmation needed tho)
Methinks you are mixing GW concept of one-use dyes with GW2 one … ‘consuming’ dye is more like learning recipe so there is no need to have special storage for them.
Not only in dungeons…
Having option to turn off all non-beneficial visual effect will be best (and help with fps too)
The problem here is that we can sell our stuff on the TP wherever we are!
People are too lazy to run to a merchant. It’s much easier to just sell it on the TP from wherever you are…Anet should disable this, and make it so that you can only sell your stuff on the TP at the NPC…
Nope, ANet should not mess with TP in any way — if people want to sell loosing gold by all means let them do it, TP will stabilize as game gets older (little longer as it global tho).
I never put anything on TP for the price I think is ‘fair’ regardless on whats currently on offer, if do not sell … well I can always use salvaged mats for something.
I agree with previous poster, I got used to that green arrow showing me that I’m downscaled … OTOH if I see DEs or calls for help I almost always jump in and end up in another part of map, then is another DE (or chain continuation) then i get to some nicely bunched mats — heh my story q level is way below me and I now need to hunt for mats to keep my craft levels for making me stuff.
I am bored.
It hit level 80 since one week.
I am full equipped in exotic orange armor.
I have 15g on my bank
I have 200k Karma
I did all dungeons.
kthxbye — see you in the next “hot” game … GW2 is not for everyone
I can confirm that, and also “Email Replies to Topic Subscriptions” do not work.
RSS link is in the same state.
Although I don’t like those topics either I don’t think there’s a need to generalize and apply stupid labels that have no real meaning because everyone uses them differently, to other players.

And most important “tip”:
Do not rush to level cap — this is not a some other 3-4 letter MMO game here do not start at max level it starts at level 1.
PvP is the name of the game… do it, or find something you can cuddle with somewhere else.
Not necessarily, I’m mostly PvE player and I don’t see any chance of running out of content any time soon …
Funny how on one side there’s the people that say that dungeons (especially AC) are too hard. And on the other side there are people that claim to have done them all. One of these sides has to be wrong, or possibly both are?
Even funnier that mostly same type people QQ about lack of the “endgame” .
Wha…. I can’t faceroll content … WT???? /ragequit (that will be nice tho, trolling forums is not)
So is this a MMO? Since when did MMO start having less end game content? You know Everquest 1 is coming out with its 19th expansion. Content. Thats what drives people.
content is a key word here — depending on playstyle GW2 definitely have months worth of it. But if one defines content as get gear, raid, rinse and repeat then he has a big problem with it…
With my available time I’m 100% sure that before I manage to do all things I want to do in game I’ll have next expansion already on sale (regardless to the fact that I’ll preorder one at the moment is announced)
The reason most of it requires said gear is because if said gear wasent there most wouldent touch it because very very few people actually enjoy raiding and such. If you take said gear away and cant find a reason to do the content your doing it wrong. The gear should only be a perk not the sole reason your doing it. To many people now day’s fail to realize that though.
WoW and clones made big I want to be uber/OP/faceroll crowd of spoiled … who now cant adapt to the fact that whatever one does in GW2, regardless to the uberness of the items equipped skill (as in playing skill not skill bar slots) (or lack off) will be main reason for winning or loosing … no gear/build will enable one to faceroll even standard zone not to mention dungeons … and thats GW2 way (and original GW too) so do not expect <insert random grinder mmo here> play-style here, if one wants that then go and play something like that and leave us playing game we want to play.
I don’t understand why so many people playing this game are so quick to go after those of us who want to participate in end game PvE dungeons. Its an almost integral part of the MMO experience. As someone who wants to do both PVP and PVE this game is severely lacking in the latter area.
Integral part?! Maybe by your definition, OTOH I was on the side ones who made alts (where thats was remotely fun and sadly that is very low number of MMOs) — grinding same instance 100+ times to get gear to start grinding another one and another and another and another … is definitely not even remotely near my idea of fun.
As someone already said — GW2 is not raid/gear treadmill and it (should, knocks on the wood) never be.
This is why having a global Auction House is a poor idea. There are simply ‘too many’ players posting items, materials, etc. There are a lot of items selling at vendor prices, so crafting and making money is pointless. Could anyone point out the benefit of having just one Auction House across all servers? Because I fail to see what that benefit is.
Guesting — without global TP it will make a mess, restricting trades between players will be a must and lots of other restrictions to prevent buying/selling stuff from one server on another.
Better supply? It works nicely in STO IMHO.
Don’t forget that we are talking of the week old game, TP will stabilize when people spread out and start spending more, now even if i see something I want on TP I mostly save gold as I’ll need it for latter.
Or creating character with crappy PC and then getting decent one and seeing that some of my decisions in character creator where not that smart
Character creator should auto setup on highest setting possible regardless on settings IMHO — IIRC STO has that so when one is in cosmetic setup it will render with maximum possible settings.
Yeah, that is a problem with big crowds. Often I cant even see mobs/boss I need to target ranged or not ranged…
Having option to disable non-beneficial effects from other players will be nice…
Difficult content is fine. But the reward needs to worth the hassle, which is not case at the moment.
It’s the only way to get dungeon armor/weapons. If you do them you’ll have that armor. That’s worth something.
If you knew anything about how GW2 handles its armor stats, you’d see that its really not worth it at all and you can get identical gear in other means.
So … doing anything in game should be … what? paid? It sounds too much like work! I’ll do them because that’s fun, because group of friends will have 3h+ fun trying to crack it… I cant even count how much fun memories I have from the wipes and how few from the boring (easy) runs, killing that last boss after fighting and trying to figure out strategy is rewarding enough. No hand-holding please, ever.
Hopefully explorable mode will have (or already do) enough randomness to present more and more challenges for repeated runs too.
And downscaling is a nasty surprise for the ‘standard’ MMO crowd who expect to overlevel instance and faceroll it );> — I love it! No more QQing in chat to ‘boost’ someone trough them, no more asking to ‘drag’ someone trough, … just that is worth it every virtual currency I’ll ‘earn’ in game.

Your post reminds me a lot of Vanilla/BC WoW…
Or tons of other MMOs I was in, instances start with challenging content then QQ starts, time passes and they become ‘dances’ without any thinking involved. GW2 is not gear treadmill and one can get a lot of stuff without going into dungeons — armor and other stuff from dungeons should be reserved for teams skilled enough to finish them.
This is a good thing, and I hope it doesn’t change.
Agreed.
I really hope that will never change.
Its not for a sense of “achievement” its because this is an RPG and stats mean EVERYTHING IN RPGS. An RPG with “meaningless” stats is not an RPG.
So lets call it MMOG (Game), just play it and have fun and don’t care under which TLA is categorized
And to quote from Massively podcast: “It is definitely not the game for the epe*n crowd” and I can definitely agree with that.
(ep… is a bad word here … LOL)
Fun, pure unspoiled gaming fun
I would play just to mess with the dungeons but I hear they are so hard it isn’t even fun. I’m holding judgment on that since I haven’t been in one myself yet.
And they should be kept like that, hard, even harder just on the edge being impassable for anyone lacking the skill to do it.
