hod got 2 transfer that we stole from SoR a few days ago, but tbh i don’t think they’ve spent much time in wvw here yet & are likely not the cause for alarm.
other than that i think people are speculating that we will GET transfers with this weeks free transfers to med. population servers.
that’d be nice … transfers, and maybe that mythical and magical unknown beastly thing called an “oceanic/sea crew”.
i’m an old nerd, i can only do so many all nighters a week without sucking decades off my life.

A bit more about Henge:
We have a few large guilds (400+), but for the most part HoD is made up of many many small guilds (+/- 100), and even more tiny guilds of 50 or less.
Prominent WvW guilds (regardless of size, you’ll see them there every day):
The Lightkeepers [LK]
Genesis Theory [GT]
Can’t Stand Idiots [CSI]
Cold Black Eyes [CBE]
Zombieland [WvW]
Phaze [PHZE]
Dragonguard [GARD]
Legion of Tormented Souls [LOST]
Valkyria Immortalis [VLK] (merged Chrysanthemum & Tarnished Alliance)
Charter Vanguard [CV]
Shimmering Darkness [SD]
Duality [DLTY]
[FARM] (sorry I don’t remember what it stands for)
Horrifying Owls of Terror [HOOT]
Arcana Machina [AM]
Shades of Cantha [SC]
Extreme Intervention [XN]
White Lotus Tea Shop [OWL]
Serious Catz [CATZ]
Travelers of Tyria [TOT]
Unworthy Saints [HELL]
Contemporary Heroes [CH]
The Amazing Rondo [RNDO]
Rise From the Ashes [RFA]
^ I’m missing a lot, I know, but my game is presently patching and I’m going totally off memory of who I tend to see the most. MOST of these guilds are in the small to tiny range, as are most of the rest that I’m presently forgetting.
Henge has a website @ http://www.hengeofdenravi.com with forums that also hosts a 1024 slot community mumble server where you can find people most times of day/night doing WvW, sPvP, and PvE. If you are a smaller guild, or simply an individual player, this is a great benefit for finding groups to play with.
I should note, we have some prominent community members who are deaf & some Commanders have become very good at relaying a lot of information in map chat, while others notably have not. This is something many of us actively try to improve upon, but you know you can’t build Atlantis overnight.
If you are deaf or otherwise not inclined to use a voice comm application (both the Alliance vent and the community mumble are well used) then please send me a private message either in game or on here & I will be sure your needs are met within our community.

you should transfer somewhere you won’t feel a need to transfer from.
find some people you enjoy playing with, that make you laugh & make you want to log in even when you don’t really feel like playing.
that’s a place to be, where ever that is for you. for me, it’s the henge. pm me if you’re interested & i’ll send you some info to come chill for a bit.

hi vertigo,
every server has issues and problems, it’s just a matter of how public they are. there’s factions and egos and bad blood everywhere.
on henge, we have problems, but they don’t stop us from playing. in the end we all work toward the same common goal.
the best thing i could do is invite you to hang out with us & see if you have fun. regardless of how beneficial your guild would be to our server, if you don’t like the people you’d be working with and aren’t having fun then it’s not the right place for you.

@ mune & pita
i actually wasn’t criticizing the vids. i totally get why they are the way they are. we like to share and show off our success, and tbh you don’t see people going around bragging about their failures. if we did, we’d have far more posts like this:
“omg today i died SOOO many times and didn’t cap a single point. i lolomgwtfbbq suck !!111111elevntyone here’s some vids, see how bad i was? awesome!”
i don’t get why someone’s complaining about your videos
chester imtoolazytoscrollup something or other doesn’t seem to get the point of it at all.
“Sentio aliquos togatos contra me conspirare!”
uhm
you know, i’m not sure what the point of this discussion is.
people make videos to show off what they did right & to make them & their friends feel good about a bit of kitten kicking (poor kittens) … not about what they did wrong or when they got their kitten kicked (i do not condone kicking kittens fyi).
unless you’re going to start posting montages of all the times you bugger up and die … i mean, that could be interesting … but probably not.

henge is a great place to be, for both pve & wvw.

Awesome fights in EB right from the beginning. HoD and NSP fighting at Ogre’s side going on 2 hours.
Did you NSP guys like that mes that kept jumping in and downing your back-line, then getting away? Yeah, I like her too. ~
How come you didn’t let us finish our trebuchet?
We could have had a good fun siege fight with your fortified tower, but the portal bomb ruined it twice.
Sad Panda
i just unlocked the portal skill on my mes, figured i’d put it to good use.
also, i totally love you, rose, and your ninja res skills. <3 <3 <3
i hope my wee mes is half as awesome as you someday.

that vid .. is full of primarily new players that are learning wvw. this was their first week making an honest attempt at it, and they did pretty well. not my guild or such, but they deserve tons of credit for holding first half the week.
should point out, though, that alliance has at least 3 large guilds of 500 ppl each + a bunch of smaller 100+/- ones. that vid is just one small group of the people they alone can field, forget the other half of the wvw population on hod.
i’m not trying to brag or anything, because i don’t know the pop. of your server, but when all i have to go on is a comparison like that i just gotta say it really doesn’t sound like anything resembling a good match-up.

Dear HoD commander,
Whatcha doing on that wall ?
Gate closed , walls up. U got fly skillz ?
The commander in question was as confused as you are about being there. He was in front of me & I saw him get pulled, but rather than stopping AT the wall it pulled him through the door.
While you guys jumped to the conclusion of hacker & reported him, the rest of us just filed a bug report.
It’s all a matter of perspective. Would you like some tinfoil hats?
“Sentio aliquos togatos contra me conspirare!”
hod can field enough people to have queues on multiple maps, at just about any time of day/night (though oceanic prime is still our weakest link). what it comes down to, for us, is WANTING to do it. do you feel those numbers would pose a better wvw experience for t8? some of us think it’d be fun to drop a tier, just to be green for a while and let the whole server get their map completion without any effort at all, but in reality we aren’t gonna do that .. and it isn’t gonna happen. stop asking for us to solve the t8 problem because, quite honestly, we can’t. regardless of WHO is there the problem still exists, and no amount of whining or finger pointing or virtual chest thumping is going to fix that.
falling through the ranks wasn’t fun for those who weren’t part of the titan alliance, nor was it fun for those who chose to stay here that were. it was just plain un-fun, period.
we had a great time of flux after the fall, and settled in to t7. we rebuilt a bit, and we had something we were missing for a while: a whole lot of FUN.
we encountered kaineng, which was decidedly un-fun. i logged in to wvw a total of 3 times that week, just to wave & dance at them. i’m sure some tried to fight, but we were easily outmanned 20-1 & spawn camped on all exits around the clock so we did something else: we pve’d, and marvel of marvels we had fun. i don’t think you’ll encounter anyone who feels “shame” over that, and the fact that you think we should is, i think, rather petty and childish.
“Sentio aliquos togatos contra me conspirare!”
if it isn’t nsp fighting themselves on the same server it’s nsp fighting themselves on different ones. this thread is so full of funny!
“Sentio aliquos togatos contra me conspirare!”
hrmm. methinks if we push the right buttons nsps infighting will put them in t8 without much hard work from either hod or gom.
“Sentio aliquos togatos contra me conspirare!”
what’s with the hod hate? why not send nsp to t8? there are probably more transfer trash there from the fallen titan alliance than there are left on hod.
we’re a server full of pve’ers and casual wvw’ers now. anyone that’s left here is here because they either a) didn’t care about wvw to begin with or b) stayed because they love it here (woo friends).
i say both gom and hod deserve more change of scenery & since nsp is far too keen at bragging about pvdoor we should send them someplace where they can do it 24/7.
“Sentio aliquos togatos contra me conspirare!”
crashed & locked out of our (hod) bl. fun stuff.
“Sentio aliquos togatos contra me conspirare!”
i think we should all chip in and buy the lovely people over on nsp some tinfoil and armadillo shells.
seriously, wth?? you guys are so paranoid, if it’s not one thing it’s your mother & you put so much time and effort into the analysis of why it must be so. i facepalm when i read most of your posts. you need to stop, my hand it starting to hurt.
“Sentio aliquos togatos contra me conspirare!”
maybe if we repeatedly bump this they’ll update …..
“Sentio aliquos togatos contra me conspirare!”
so if 5 ppl each spent one dollar and 50 ppl each spent one dollar, which single person spent the most amount of money?
I agree with you on some of your points, but this one no. If you decide to respond please answer the question first.Answer: Each person spent the same amount of money.
Relevance to guild missions: None. The correct question would be if a group of 5 people each spent 1 dollar and a group of 50 people each spent 1 dollar, which group would be able to afford a $50 item first.
Same exact thing here, small guilds will get guild missions, just not as fast as large guilds. (And they can get it just as fast if they just put in the effort to farm influence/gold)
Are you sane?
How does an 8 person Guild possibly farm 50,000 influence in the same amount of time as a 500 person Guild?
I honestly wouldn’t give a kitten, one way or another, about this ENTIRE update if it did not give larger Guilds an obvious gear & loot advantage (stat advantage). kitten that, I paid for this game fair and square & I expect the same access as every other single last person that ever logs in to the same paid game. If they want to create a new game called ZergFarm Wars and introduce gated content there they can go ahead, but it has no business in a game that promised to deliver ZERO waiting to have fun and ZERO grind, a game that promised what it’s predecessor delivered in only making SKINS and not STATS something that was ever hard to come by.
Remove the extra chance for precursors, remove the cheaper & faster means of purchasing Ascended items, and I will happily NEVER access a Guild mission ever (because honestly, at the rate of gain of influence for my small Guild this game will be dust before that content, and therefor that ADVANTAGE, is even available to us).
“Sentio aliquos togatos contra me conspirare!”
Every time I rep a different guild I’m no longer functionally contributing to my own. I’m not sure why this is so hard to grasp or understand, nor why anyone at all thought it was a good idea to implement something that basically makes us either choose to not have access to the same content we all paid for OR choose to kill our own guilds.
It was bad enough when half of our guild had to decide at launch whether to play together on one server or play separately on both EU and NA so we could play with other friends & family members.
It’s worse now that we have to choose between our own guilds or getting fair access to the game we all paid for.
“Sentio aliquos togatos contra me conspirare!”
If this had been in since launch, would you still be complaining?
No, because I wouldn’t have bought the game. Pretty simple, eh?
However, because this > http://youtu.be/bKtGxVj3msM < and this > http://www.arena.net/blog/guild-wars-2-design-manifesto < was how they advertised the game for over two years, I did buy it.
“It all gets back to our basic design philosophy. Our games aren’t about preparing to have fun, or about grinding for a future fun reward. Our games are designed to be fun from moment to moment.” – Mike O’Brien, emphasis added.
“Sentio aliquos togatos contra me conspirare!”
A, B, and C ……
“Sentio aliquos togatos contra me conspirare!”
They deliberately designed the game to scale to peoples group size and level because they advertised the game as giving everyone equal access to content regardless of their play style. The only limit was to be dungeons set at 5 people (at level – very doable by less above level & well geared).
Pray tell me why the same people shouldn’t be legit kitten that they are now being told they do not, in fact, have equal access to content? Why should we farm our kitten off to gain the same access as someone who does kitten all & reaps the benefits of their 400 person guild?
Why does my guild of 5 have to work 100 times harder than someone elses guild of 500 just to GAIN ACCESS to the same content? I’m not even talking about being able to complete it … just about being able to even kittening access it.
What kitten was Anet smoking when they thought this was a logical game design???
“Sentio aliquos togatos contra me conspirare!”
Being angry that larger guilds can earn more influence than a smaller one, hence buy better stuff,in this case missions… is unjustified and wrong. From the beginning the tools were present to grow a healthy size guild…politics. For a guild to choose not to use the tools and stay small and to then complain that they can’t collect the rewards? What?!?
Personally, I don’t care for dailies… I sign on, run some dungeons with my guild, do some wvw…whatever I want. But I never seek out dailies… The point you ask? I don’t expect to have a bank full of laurels!!! This is how things work! Yes you can play the game anyway you want, I for one encourage this!.. but don’t complain if you choose not to seek out a reward! What do you think? We should all jsut be issued all available game rewards at first logon? Regardless of time, effort, strategy etc….
Thank you,
Slowburn
I don’t think that having access to content is a reward. If the content is to be limited to larger groups of people then they should have implemented some sort of Groupon option. Saying “You are in a small Guild therefor you cannot have access to this content unless you grind and farm your butt off OR abandon ship and join a larger Guild” is equal to saying those peoples money is worth more than mine and my time investment in this game must be 500% more to receive the same access to content.
That does not add up to being a rational game design no matter how many different angles you want to look at it from, and it is exactly the opposite of what Anet sold & advertised this game as.
If they had made this intent clear from the start I wouldn’t have bought the game.
“Sentio aliquos togatos contra me conspirare!”
ANet said this game was for everyone, it was designed from the ground up to be as single player as possible & has been modified since release to provide more support for group & Guild play. It is a massive multiplayer online game that promised equal access and equal reward available to everyone no matter what. That, along with the promise of regular content updates without recurring fees, was & IS their main selling features.
Do not tell people that if they farm XXX things in game they can still have equal access to YYY content. That’s a load of bull and quite frankly a group of 3 should not have to work exponentially 300 times harder to access the same content as a group of 300 when those 3 paid exactly the same amount of money to play the kitten game. This is not a small reward that people are being given access to, nor is it hard to do the math to figure out that those in very large guilds get to ride the coat tails of their more active members, while those in smaller guilds literally get screwed and are being told to stfu and deal with it and/or join a larger Guild.
Being told to join a larger Guild is rather insulting, that large Guild doesn’t need the influence I earn & if I’m constantly repping another Guild then my own continues to suffer. If you don’t WANT small guilds then you should REMOVE the option from the game … but being screwed over months down the road is absolutely unacceptable.
WHY is this system not scaled to reflect the active Guild members? The game already tracks and rewards influence based on the number of active members – it should be able to use that same system to scale the cost of this feature to those numbers so that those of us in small Guilds receive equal reward for equal work rather than a whole fat lot of nothing.

This is getting SO BORING fighting the same people over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and you get the point, right?
“Sentio aliquos togatos contra me conspirare!”
The goal of WvWvW is to cap and hold points, not to kill people. The reward for playerkilling in WvWvW is limited to the individual and actually doesn’t score any points for the team. Consequently this means it’s also primarily a PvE area, and is thus included in map completion & suffers/gains from the same mechanics as PvE (repair costs and such).
As someone who’s sitting at 99% completion for months now, missing the poi and vista in green’s EB keep, all I can say is be patient & be vigilant. Participate in WvWvW on your server, bring your friends, and systemically raid the points you need as time allows. Eventually you’ll get paired up with more balanced teams (this is when WvWvW is actually fun & strategic like a giant game of chess) – the imbalances that make it a zergfest will pass. It may take a couple more weeks but it’ll settle down eventually.
“Sentio aliquos togatos contra me conspirare!”
Hey Fizzlepip, it’s not just you guys that have to suffer fools, be it inexperienced players or so-called saboteurs and spies. It totally sucks, and I agree that sometimes it seems very deliberate (someone draining supply during a siege just to suicide a dozen golems comes to mind), but a lot of it really is inexperienced players and/or ones who just don’t care to work as a team.
Thankfully the spy/saboteur scenarios will happen less after the 28th, but aside from continuing on with promoting and training people (who are willing to participate) there’s not much any of us can do about the rest.
“Sentio aliquos togatos contra me conspirare!”
I just wanted to jump in here and add that the WvW crew here are fantastic & have been so incredibly patient and polite about my noobness in this area.
It has been (and continues to be) a really healthy learning environment. No one’s made me feel like like an idiot when I do stupid things, and I dig the different training sessions they arrange.
“Sentio aliquos togatos contra me conspirare!”
I +1 this suggestion and wholeheartedly agree with Malafide.
I do not go in to a fight fully armored except for my boobs and crotch (Vigil “armor”).
Nor do I go in to battle in nice leggins and a pretty skirt, or a french maids outfit, or 5" heels and leggings that lace up the sides with fancy feathers and stuff.
I don’t do it in reality and the notion that I should in fantasy just because it’s fantasy is absurd. I will agree that there are less revealing options but most of them are ugly, a lot of the armor is glitchy and not designed to be pieced with items from other armor sets so if you want non-revealing top + non-revealing bottoms that look nice with your other 4 pieces of armor you are often out of luck.
Good fiction is believable fiction & this is my #1 pet peeve with current RPG’s. It’s not a historical standard in the gaming industry but it is a disgusting one that, quite frankly, needs to go the way of the Dodo.
I am not saying that all armor should be 100% realistic and true to it’s intended use but historically in the world of Tyria light & medium armors (in particular) were less sexualized, and women even wore PANTS in the past.
I think a good, strong example of where Anet has failed in this is if you choose a waifish/slim body type as a female humanoid with small breasts that characters breasts instantly amplify by 10 cup sizes when you put on some specific armors (Norn cultural comes to mind).
Truth be told I’d vote for a complete redesign of most armors. It really bothers me that 80% of the medium armor looks the same, with very little difference from one set to the other. Boo hiss to that.
On a different & slightly relevant note: I deleted my female Sylvari in less than 5 minutes because I couldn’t stand the perpetual orgasm coming from her every time she was attacked. Barf barf barf barf.
