There should absolutely be celebration for the 2 year anniversary, but the cake gun does not celebrate that milestone.

It celebrates each character that turns 2 years old. I now have 1 cake gun and 9 more to look forward to. Much like every other person that hasn’t deleted their characters.

@ Afyaa I’ve never had a precursor drop for me, either, but that’s kind of beside the point.

Stealing animations and sounds from any legendary weapon just isn’t acceptable. It’d be just as disappointing to see Twilight footsteps and Moot sparkles.

So I really love a gun that shoots cake.

But as someone who spent the time and effort to create Quip for it’s awesome confetti and sound effects it really bums me out to see and hear it 19082387978 times from people who didn’t put in that same time and effort.

The cake gun is essentially Quip minus the footprints (and yes of course it’s not an actual gun), but c’mon … if they’d skimped out and copied any other legendary it’d be just as awful.

Quip is legendary for a reason and it’s animations and sounds should be exclusive to it. Please fix, Anet. This is terribly depressing and I feel like I wasted a whole awful lot of time and money creating something to achieve a terribly common & now not very legendary effect.

Japan was a closed country for 200 years, so the only popularization that matters is how the image evolved and gained popularity within Japan. Which, as has been pointed out, happened well before the 20th century and any western media got hold of it. The concept of a “ninja” in stealthy attire skulking around with weapons was romanticized and popularized by Japanese art and culture at least 200 years before western civilization developed a fascination with it. Reducing that to “some 17th century stories” is an insult to the historical impact those stories and images have had on the world, as well as their importance in documenting the history of ninja; which if you are as much of a buff as you claim to be you will know very little historical documentation exists outside of that literature and art.

Its messed up that some FA players started attacking people that bow, I guess it could have been server transfers. I would encourage looking at the guild tag and no blaming the entire server as a whole. HoD does have trolls though.

most of them transferred to FA already, and FA helped pay for it.

which is probably why chaba’s so upset … it cost them so much extra to buy our bandwagon trolls.

the tournament itself was the main part. the reward was simply a means to get people to spend gems on transfers.

and by more meaningful crusades i’m pretty sure narsilik wasn’t referring to anything at all in a video game.

forget that there are 8 classes with 5 different trait lines each, that are supposed to be capable of running hundreds of possible (and supposedly viable) builds, and that there is not supposed to be any “trinity” of classes upon which we HAVE to rely on for any game mode … just forget all that.

trait for stability and condi cleanse, run melandru or hoelbrak, always use lemongrass & poultry soup, and have 2 guardians with you at all times if you set foot in WvW

lack of consistent off hours coverage, and occasional burnout to our regulars.

it really is unfortunate that the bulk of our transfers were na … it’s created a lot of queues and a lot of discontent. all the other time slot transfers were very welcome, didn’t create any issues whatsoever … they gave our very small eu/ocx/sea wvw teams some more friendly people to play with.

your post assumes thue cares about the score, and that assumption is very wrong.

on a side note, transfers aren’t really a factor in our na coverage as hod was able to queue all 4 maps during prime already. we expected those queues to inflate during the season with fairweathers and achievement hunters as it was. transfers did indeed bring much larger queues than we had expected to have, and definitely brought some eu/ocx/sea coverage that was lacking. for the first time in a very long time hod has that mythical and magical thing called a “night crew”. i’m not sure how i feel about this, it’s nice to not be on an empty map when i’m roaming at 3am but it also really sucks to have my duels zerged down by 20 bored people.

fa lost guilds, but they also gained some as well … and i do believe even in time slots where their coverage was previously less.

but you do indeed read everything to do with hod on every forum. like in an unhealthy and obsessive way. any thread on a forum that happens to mention hod is almost guaranteed to have a post by you in it trying your hardest to be a pvf hero. it’s kind of funny in a really sad way.

i logged just after midnight server time & hod still had 150 person queue on ebg, and the bl’s were all 30-50.

currently at about 12:30pm server time there’s 113 on ebg, and 10-20 on nsp and cd bl’s.

most of the hod originals don’t have delusions of grandeur in regard to what we’ll be facing, most of us remember (we’ve been there before).

the transfers, on the other hand … can’t really speak for them. they probably should have transferred to a t1/t2 server to begin with. we didn’t advertise for transfers because we were pretty content with how and where we were.

you can hit 3k condi dmg on any class without using ascended armor, just exotic with ascended trinkets & the right runes/sigils/traits.

ascended trinkets are easy enough to come by they should be a non-factor in this discussion.

From what I have seen on HoD is that most of the real WvW people/guilds are not spending allot of time in WvW, as right now it is just to easy, and all I see are karma trains running, blatant ones that that, commanders who are really bad coming onto the map and saying “On me for karma!!” in map. I know my guild would much rather open field fight than knock down doors over and over again and we have just not seen that, every time we find another group in open field, they run back into their keep. As such, I find myself playing WvW even less these past few weeks and when I do it is just roaming for the most part.

So with that said, once we come into some servers with a bit more power you will probably see allot better tactics, because right now the WvW seems to be filled with PvEers and people just karma training along, and seeing how HoD is almost 80k points ahead already you really don’t need that good of players to hold it, as we all know numbers and coverage is all that is needed allot of the time.

^ this pretty much. the pugs and smaller guild groups held down home bl so well during reset vlk resorted to tonic races out of boredom. i’ve spent the week roaming & looking for duels because everything else is just a huge karma train. at 7’ish pm server time these were our queues at reset … and we haven’t even hit the season start & have had at least two 300+ person guilds transfer since, not counting any solo/small team/roamers.

no more listening to bad/rude transfer people that just zerged our duels telling me/us that if we aren’t in wvw to ppt we should gtfo the server.

• sometimes specific to me, other times “group lag” – about 99.9% of the time results in being booted to the character select screen

• happens mostly in the evening/night/early morning EST … have never noticed it in the mornings/afternoons

• every bl for me, i tend to stay out of ebg

• has happened in large fights (60v60 or even 40v40v40) or when large groups are in combat on the other side of the map

• also happens when there are no large groups on the maps, during 1v1 or such sparring/gvg’s

• almost always in combat when it happens

in all due respect, curtis, your response didn’t answer the question. i asked the same one a few days ago (now on p2 i think) that still hasn’t received an answer either.

as a rather expensive reward from bltc’s (and expensive keys), or as an expensive purchase individually .. this thing we have is now worthless and soon to be useless .. and when asked if we will be reimbursed something that actually provides a useful value for money in its place the answer is what?

wedesday we had 3 maps queued all afternoon, evening, and night.

thursday? queues started at 2 in the afternoon and continued on and off all night/morning.

today the queues started at 11 am (i am EST).

we seriously do not want any more transfers. we didn’t even want a bunch of the ones we got.

With the Instant Trait Reset items being made useless, will we be able to return unused ones?

totally agree they should do something pre-tournament, but rather than manually setting the matchups i think it’d be better to switch to a shorter matchup duration again.

either the 24 or 48 hour matchup system would help fix this faster, and more naturally.

and yeah .. i logged in at 2 in the afternoon (est) yesterday and hod had 2 maps queued. at 4 am there was an 80 person queue on one of the maps.

no, i had this glitch the other day as well, immediately following the patch. everything was hitting me for 2k a pop, minimum, including things like moas. i took all my armor & weapons off, reloaded the game, re-equipped, and things seemed to go back to normal.

Will HOD raise back to tier 1 with this transfer? Will CD raise back to tier 2 with this transfer? Which gold league server will fall this time? Free transfer is always interesting to watch, so many servers got destroyed during the free transfer back then.

essentially spec yourself out to do maximum damage with health sacrificing skills, turning yourself in to a bomb, and then run up to a group and sacrifice yourself. the end result is you suicide and take them all with you.

not a good idea to buff the halves falling damage traits, though i would like to see ele’s normalized to the first tier like every other class.

will these bonuses affect people in the EB jumping puzzle?

if not, can we have an entrance to the puzzle from EACH bl rather than just EB, and perhaps an increase on the population cap for the map, so as to continue with GvG’s and fight clubs without the buff?

uh … you have to consider, HoD is primarily NA prime time players. our coverage across the rest of the world is slim.

if you find yourself pv’dooring outside of NA prime time it isn’t because anyone gave up, it’s because there was no one there to begin with.

lots of HoD will still be out there, looking for good fights. our definitions of what makes a good fight might be different, and our notion of what constitutes “small team” play is most likely very different, but we’ll still find you and test our skills.

i don’t understand the complains about being outnumbered. it’s not like those same people have the grace to complain they outnumber the tiny servers. it’s just … dumb.

go out and fight some fights. if you hate it that much go pick fluff out of your bellybutton or something.

Was there a stealth nerf to the drop rate of Badges of Honor?

I noticed I have barely been getting any the past month. Yesterday/last night I watched my kills to badge ratio & while my kill counter went up with over 300 kills, my badges only increased by 20.

20 badges …. for over 300 kills. Please tell me this is a bug.

i think havvik means that 20 would be the cap he’d try to organize on his part, too. so if you could scrounge up 5/10/12/14/whatever he’d pee his pants in delight.

Say what you want about Kaineng, but they’ve had the most coordinated zergs of any server i’ve played thus far.

they are co-ordinated so long as it goes in a straight line. kaineng zergs don’t turn well. they go forward, drop all their aoe & dps in a near perfectly straight line, and then retreat & repeat the process. next time, bllades, try stepping to the side instead of facetanking a pain train.
