Hey everybody! Happy new year and all that.
I have a quality of life suggestion. One of the things that kind of irritates me is when my bags get full and I do not realize it until I try to loot something and I get the over encumbered message and the bag icon is red.
I think it would be really helpful if the bag icon turned yellow, as a warning that all of our bags are almost full. It could turn yellow when 95 or 98% of the bags are almost full.
This is just a small issue but it will make a big difference.
Thanks!
A lot of these feelings I think stem from burn out. I can totally understand that. Some players will log on for 8 hours or more a day. Burn through their levels, gear, events, pvp, etc. While there is nothing wrong with that play style and I have done the same with other games I do get burned out.
How do you know you are burned out? If you ever log on to the game and just sit there and think “I don’t even know what else I could go do right now” Or you log on and LFG for an hour and log off, that’s burn out. So you stop playing and go pick up another game or mmo.
IMO there is plenty to do at 80 in this game regardless if player think there should be Raids or even more content. The end game in GW2 is whatever you make it. There isnt any hand holding. I am not going to tell anyone what they should or should not do here but I understand the frustration. I also understand that being burned out on something can cause negativity towards that thing.
I got burned out of GW2. I’ve been playing it since closed public beta in March ( I think? It might of been April ) Around late Sept/Oct I put the game down. I came back fully about a week or so ago and I am having fun again. I stopped caring about the “Old MMO standards” and just played the game.
I am not using any MF and I am getting greens, blues, t-5, t-6 mats on a continual basses. Yesterday a regular mob dropped 2 green tridents. Both the same.
I also get a yellow or two from dragon fights most times. So i would say that MF is a waste of time for now.
Soulbound items cannot be salvaged either. So if your old helmet was transmuted it will not be salvageable.
I am personally fine with mobs dropping blues and greens and whites.
What I would like to see is for champions and group bosses/dragons to have a higher rate of rares/exotics.
The gold drop rate is fine as it is.
I would like to see more dyes.
This is just how I feel about it
I would agree with you. Not only dyes, rares and exotics but maybe t5-t6 mats from Champs/Dragons. Not a super high rate but enough to were players are actually seeing them more times then they are not.
@ToTheLeft – Ha, that was good… but was it intentional?
And to keep it on topic – the thread is currently concerned about poor and no drops from at least Champs/Named bosses if not also Vets. (Someone suggested that Vets might be okay, though I’d have to think about that. Would better Vet drops harm the economy?)
I would say yes because 2-3 bots can easily take down a vet, especially if they are a pet class.
My wife bought some unidentified dye off the tp last night. I think they are like 60 s each? She bought 5, and she got a black dye and a midnight ice dye out of it.
Pretty cool if you ask me.
So reading through the whole postings here, nice to see many different opinions, however I see a lot of similarities as well.
The game is 4.5 – 5 months old (since launch) now, and the END GAME is more then most MMO’s had ever before at this stage of the game’s age, some seem very good at ignoring this fact.
Secondly many compare End Game content to what they are USED TO, meaning, what we know from previous MMORPG’s, I would never compare GW2 to the old mmo’s, If you really look at the core of old MMO’s endgame it was but 1 thing, get the best gear and weapon. That was it PvE wise, then you went to the PvP places and showed it off, get killed, and become better as a player. Stand AFK in the main city doing trading and chatting all day long and WoW players would do raids to get more money to spend on……..what exactly? you had the endgame gear.
In GW2 end game is a entirely different concept in itself, so stop thinking about what you are used to and try and adapt your view to what is end game here, and it is most definately NOT just running Fractals all kitten day.
Because of the upscaling (in certain situations and places) and downscaling you can utilize all of Tyria as end game zones, this makes it a lot bigger then getting super gear and facerolling through dungeons.
A 100% this ^^
Wow! I really never noticed this and had to go see for myself. Confirmed they do look different in both appearance and outfits if you are on overflow compared to your own server, but not sure yet if they change on their own server.
I am always on over flow in LA. I never go to my main server. I always hit leave que.
They always change.
She also has a 3rd look, she sometimes has short white hair and she gained a few pounds.
There is an issue with drops from Champion mobs. They should drop more then just blues and greens and whites. If they ever drop anything.
Over the last few days I have fought quite a few champs across tyria and I have nothing to show for it. Not even whites drops. I’d be happy if there was a chance to see a rare drop every now and again. I salvage those bad boys for ectos and other t6, t5 mats.
The dragon fights on the other hand sometimes get me a rare or two more times then not. A lot of blues and greens. Yet again I don’t mind the drop rates from dragons because I salvage everything. I usually get some sort of a profit.
The exotic drop rate is fine IMO. There are so many ways you can get exotics its not even funny. Tp, karma, dungeon tokens and PVP.
I guess for the players that want exotics to salvage for mats that might be something of a concern for them. Other then that its good that the exotic drop rate is low, it makes the mats worth something on the tp from them. As far as load stones etc..those should drop more times then not in dungeons. Seeing how I really do not care about those i am not sure the ways players are trying to get them now. Hell, have them drop off of champs in Orr or something. Add them to the Jormag fight. Like a 20-30% drop rate.
And btw i have 0% magic find. My drops seem to be on par with everyone else.
Exotics should never drop from random mobs or veterans. Ever. Actually vets should only drop greens and blues but at a really low percentage. If bots were to take those vets down and Anet upped the drop rates on them it would be disastrous.
IMO Exotics should only be “dropped” from Champs and Dragon fights out in the world. The other ways to get them is fine. Gold, Karma and tokens.

Always changes. She does. I swear.
I think its the weapon crafting station, might be armor crafting station. Any way its by the forge towards the bottom of the ramp, down from the merchants close to the TP in LA.
My wife first pointed it out to me, but I never payed attention. The only thing I knew of was that she always said, “Its not a good time for traveling” Or something about the gods never listen.
Anyway, one day she has long blonde hair, the next she has short white hair and gained a few pounds, sometimes she is wearing crocs, sometime a whole new outfit. Sometimes she changes the same day.
My question is, are they on rotation? Like one needs a break then another takes her place?
I find it really cool that she does change. Did any of you guys know this?
Are there any other NPC’s that do this as well?
I hit 80 about a week or so ago. So I am a pretty fresh 80 in terms of other players who have hit 80 months ago.
I agree with the op that there is nothing to do at 80, but only when you compare it to the old mmo structure of the past. There are a few mmo’s out there that still stick to the old school way end game “should” be, and if you have been playing mmo’s for a long time you can get “trained” in a way.
Do not get me wrong, the way old school mmos use end game is a good thing. It just works.
For the kid who never played an mmo in his life and Guild Wars 2 is his/hers first then its the best mmo ever. Just think about that for a second.
So for us old school players we have to change our thinking when it comes to this MMO. So for me my end game is this:
Map completion ( Big maybe )
42k karma gear. Got one piece already. Working towards the second.
Possibly a dungeon set
Step into WvWvW
Farm Orr nodes.
One day save up enough gold to buy a legendary. I really do not like crafting at all.
Get my butt up to where Jourmag spawns and fight him. ( Got Tequatil and Shatterer on farm)
For the players who have done everything they want then Gw2 will not mind if you put it down for awhile. Having no sub is great. Just come back when Anet adds more stuff.
Anyway this is my opinion, no disrespect to the OP.
What an awesome gesture from Anet! I hope I get one! J/k. My year was made when I got selected to participate in the public closed beta. X-mas came early for me this year!
Here is something I wrote in the suggestions forums. This may not pertain to leveling, but it does pertain to level cap mostly:
“Due to the fact that the risk vs reward is lacking in dungeons, veteran mobs, and Orr players will stop playing. This is not a good thing.
“Well its a b2p game so who cares?” That"s wrong because A net just lost potential gem store customers.
Up the variety of drops from Orr temple bosses, Vet Mobs, Dragons and Dungeons and the players will stick around. Add weapon skins to the mix, along with rares, mats and exotics. Leave the DR for low level area’s and regular mobs.
What it boils down to is if a player is going to go through the trouble of playing the “harder” content we should be rewarded, and if we are we will stick around and happily pay a little money to the Gem store to buy town clothes, dyes or minis. Or even to exchange the Gems into gold. There just needs to be a balance between the store and the game. Most players might be able to afford 10-20 dollars a month on the store, that should be the sweet spot that A net needs to concentrate on. With that amount of money a month there is no way some one could afford to buy their exotics, weapons and sigils from the TP along with any thing a player may want from the gem store.
This will lead to playing the “harder” content for the gear that there 10-20 bucks converted into gold cannot cover. If Anet ups the drops like i said earlier you have a perfect circle happening.
Keep the players playing the game, the gem store will fall into place naturally."

I just wanted to add something here.

I also wanted to add something else here.
We all know how raids work right? Or even 5 man dungeons work. You kill a bunch of trash that may or may not drop something decent and then you get to a boss.
The boss will always require some work to get him down.
The boss loot tables will always have some sort of reward that players will want to go after. That’s why players run raids and dungeons.
So why cant Anet take that same play style and apply it to the open world? I have heard it said that GW2 will not have raids, there will be ( and are ) zones that will have raid like content. They have all the right mobs in place, bots will never see or can even begin to do this content, so why not up the rewards?
I have said before and I’ll say it again, risk vs reward. Please Anet take a look at this. I will tell you that this will in no way impact the Gem store. If players are enjoying themselves by doing a nice variety of “end game” content ( ie dungeons, vet mobs, Orr runs. Legendary’s , crafting etc.. ) and the drops are worth it, ( exotics, rares, town clothes, mini, t6 mats etc) players will spend some money in the shop.
You should be guaranteed an exotic for killing vets at level 75 and above…
With 2-3 people it takes a matter of seconds to kill a vet. All you’d have to do is wait for a respawn and farm it again.
It’d turn out to be an exploit and people would keep it on farm until it gets removed.
Maybe leave vets out of it. The first time you get a group to kill a Champion mob you should get an exotic, mini, t6 mats, town clothes or weapon skin. But this can only happen once in a 24 to 48 hour period for that particular Champ, and seeing how Champions are a lot more of a challenge I doubt the bots would be able to handle them.
I think Anet has a lot of room to improvise how and where the loot drops. I think they can decide where DR is going to work the best ( ie normal mobs ) and where they can remove it or buff the drops for Dungeons, Dragons and Champion encounters.
(edited by pencapchew.5432)
With all the talk about DR and loot not dropping from boss mobs and /or mobs in general I thought that it would be good to drop a suggestion about it here.
I think that if you are going to get a group together to run a dungeon, take down veteran mobs or take down one of the dragons you should have a 100% chance to get an exotic if you are level 75 and above. Anything below that should be a rare. Not saying the said exotic should be for your class but at least something for the time spent. Maybe even cool weapon skins or minis or town clothes.
Risk vs reward needs to be addressed.
Farming normal mobs has its headaches as well. I think the DR in that case is not that bad of an idea due to bots and the potential to ruin the in-game economy. I do not think whipping out the nerf bat on the drops on top of DR is a good idea at all.
But think about it, would a bot try to get 4 others for a dungeon run? Would a bot really know when one of dragons is getting ready to spawn and would it know to go there to fight it? I hardly think so.
I just wanted to put this out there. I am not bashing the game at all, I really love it but the risk vs reward needs a little love.
I wanted to add that the loot drops do not have to be gear, they could be dyes, or mini pets and even town clothes. Something.
Last night my wife and I were playing and she was getting dye drop after dye drop. I got a lot of x-mas presents and cow skull bones. hmmmm
I feel like the loot tables have been messed up since beta, before DR was even a “thing”.
I remember fighting the giant swamp mob in Queensdale ( I cant remember his name ) and after fighting him a giant chest drops. I thought “Oh awesome! I bet imma get something good!” I ran over, clicked on the chest and I got absolutely nothing worth anything to me. I remember feeling kinda disappointed.
It felt like this: “Hey fight this major boss, get gold participation, and for your effort here is a treasure box full of coal” I was happy about the xp and karma but it was sort of a bummer.
Or a veteran mob could be guarding a chest and in return for beating him you get a white item and inside the chest is a torch or another white item or more coal.
As far as I can tell the loot system is still a mess. They are trying to improve it, but I feel like the risk vs. reward is lacking.
Anyway I still love the game and I am having fun, this is just one thing that really needs to be fixed at some point.
I play WOW and GW2. ( OMG noooo wayyy!) There are differences between the two. It’s like comparing apples to oranges really. They both have their strengths and weaknesses.
IMHO Gw2 is NOT designed to be taken so seriously. Its not a raider’s game it just doesn’t progress that way. Are there flaws with Gw2? Sure. No game will ever be perfect, but the beauty of Gw2 is its ability to be there and your character to still be relevant weeks or months down the line due to how the game handles gear.
Does this make the game have lack of end game? Sure, but I really like the fact that you have a choice once you hit max level and you have your max level gear. Play or don’t. Roll and alt or wait until more content is released, or max out professions or try to get that Legendary skin. If you want gear progression you all know where to go. There are other MMO’s that will feed this.
Why so serious?
I have a system for this Game.
Gw2 is a game I play with my wife. She absolutely loves it, more so than WOW. WOW was her first MMO/video game. She doesnt play it anymore. We even got my in-laws into GW2. They left WOW as well and we directed them here.
So when we both have time we log in to GW2 and play together. Currently I am at level 62 and she is 59. We are taking our time and enjoying the journey to 80 and completing our stories.
For the times where she is at work or cant log in I play WOW. I have been enjoying MOP more so than I thought I would. Both games can exist together. So if you want the WOW type experience play it. Gw2 is not a game to play so seriously. Bugs or not, it was meant to be enjoyed and played every so often and you can still progress. This leaves room for any other games you might want to play or keep playing.
