Only if there’s an toggle that prevents other players from inspecting you if you don’t want them to.
It’s my gear, not yours. You don’t get to see what I’m wearing. None of your business, unless I choose to show you.
The whole point of MMO’s is character progression.
No, the whole point of MMOs is to play in a persistent world with other people. Lots of games have character progression. MMOs are the only ones with a world that continues, after you stop playing.
But what about the feeling of character accomplishment you have when you upgraded a great weapon and it is uniquely yours.
You get a feeling of accomplishment from that? I mean, even disregarding the concept of feeling ‘accomplishment’ from a video game – in your proposal, the only accomplishment you managed was to get a decent roll from the RNG. That’s something to be proud of, right there.
This is just another example of the ‘phat lewt’ syndrome that causes mudflation and plagues current gaming trends.
No. Just no.
When immersion gets in the way of fun, something has to give. I’d rather lose a little immersion, and be able to do the things I want to do. I play video games for light-hearted fun and enjoyment.
Waiting until daytime to go through Kithicor Forest with a low level character was a nightmare. I’d rather not see that sort of thing again.
A handful of players posting on the forums is not “many”
And you can be fairly sure, since these threads are moderated, that ANet staff do read them.
I’m not saying they will or won’t implement this kind of thing, but generally, it’s easier for a company simply to not respond to suggestions they don’t want to implement.
Personally, I’m happy with the way things are. I don’t want to have to carry a torch to do my gaming during the night period. I could stand to go a little darker, sure, but not too much.
I’d only accept that NPCs went “to bed” if alternative content of the same difficult was available in its place. Unlike some people, I don’t always have the time to wait around 2 hours for the next day cycle to do the event, or talk to the NPC I want to talk to. Are we removing merchants, armor repair, karma vendors as well?
Replacing them with “night time” versions of themselves? What would be the point. Sounds like a whole lotta work for precious little gain.
private chat channels would solve all of my communications issues within this game. Especially if they were cross-server.
Every MMO I’ve ever played has allowed you to have different characters/alts in different guilds. GW2 is no different.
I fail to understand the point of joining multiple guilds.
Kind of defeats the point imo.
For roleplayers, there’s lots of reasons to have different alts in different guilds, based on which guilds are appropriate. (ex. Racially-focused guilds)
The game will automatically sheathe your weapons after combat, but sometimes, it takes a while for it to figure out that you’re not in combat any more. It’s kinda buggy.
Scale XP to character level, but scale level down lower

Yeah, pretty much, Hawken.
Also, the benefit of your gear over your effective level is greater, the lower your effective level.

No, the downscaling is dynamic. Walk across the bridge from Shaemooor VIllage to the Garrison in Queensdale and watch your effective level change, halfway across the bridge.
100% World completion is the only activity in GW2 that crosses between PvE and WvWvW. I believe ANet should have kept the two worlds separate, so that people who don’t want to PvP at all, don’t ever have to, at all. There should have been a 100% PvE world completion achievement and a 100% PvP world completion achievement.
And maybe there’s an achievement that flags when you get both, but right now, there’s no achievement for completing 100% of either WvWvW zones -or- PvE zones. You have to do both.
I got it. I thought it was funny
I have a friend who loves to pick up random banners and run off with them.
Don’t make him mad. You wouldn’t like him when he’s mad.
Your crits have a big spikey red border, no?
… or do you mean in the combat log? (I’ve never looked at the combat log)
Make helmet and shoulder removal apply to the character selection screen

I’d like this, if for no other reason than taking screenshots. I like to use the char select screen for screenshots, because the characters are nice and big and well-lit.
Radius idea’s actually not a bad one.

I send stuff to friends. That’s about all the trading I ever do.
Oh, and I made some swords for a guy once, for free.
I don’t miss the Trade window, and I <3 that you can mail from anywhere in the world.
LOL… Ouch. Cold, man
In other MMOs, guilds are character based, not account based. As a roleplayer, I’ve had different characters in many different guilds. in EQ, I had my Dark Elf alts in a DE-only guild, etc etc.
The way GW2 does it is really no different. They still let you have different alts in different guilds – Like the example above, Racial RP guilds. Just that now, since it’s account based, you have a central screen from where you can manage which guilds each of your characters belongs to.
If you’re dying 30-40 times going through a dungeon, you’re probably doing it wrong….
My first ever run through AC, when me and my group had no clue what we were doing, we didn’t die anywhere near that many times.
I’m fairly sure that the only way ANet would implement this would be if the feature then prevented you from attacking creatures, too, since it would be such an easily exploitable benefit.
While SHM might find this useful, I’m not sure whether or not ANet would want to devote resources to implementing such a feature. Obviously only they can make the call as to whether or not it’s worth dev man hours to put in.
It would give an unfair advantage to people who harvest from nodes, and tailors and leatherworkers already have a hard enough time trying to find materials from mob farming.
As long as you can auto-block it, I’m all for more choices in fun.

I would love this. I almost exclusively play with a buddy. When one of us gets an upgrade for the other, we have to go through the mail system even though we’re standing right next to each other. As others have said, it’d also be nice to just have a secure place to trade with others outside of the Trading Post.
Let’s see.
To trade with another player, you right click, select trade. A window comes up and you drop the item in it, then you click “Trade”
To mail to another player, you right click, select mail. A window comes up and you drop the item in it, then you click “Mail”
I don’t see the mechanical difference, or why it’s more effort to “go through the mail system”
I do agree that it removes a potential for scamming, when you can’t see whether the guy is going to give you your 5s for that sword or not.
Combined with your auto levelling toggle thread, it appears to me that you really want a much more traditional MMO experience in terms of levels than the one Guild Wars 2 offers you.

Oh, so you can see what you’re getting at the same time as you put your offer into the trade window.
I never thought about that, because I never do that kind of trading. Good point.
Raiding of that style tends to mandate trinity gameplay. I don’t think that would fit in Guild Wars 2. I wouldn’t like to see true tanking and healing in this game. I think it would ruin the unique flavor of the combat.

Not that I’m against more options, I just don’t see why it’s needed with the way mail works.
I guess what I’m saying is .. if ANet implemented a “Trade with” button, it’d probably use their in-game mail system behind the scenes anyway, and it would probably just be a reskinned mail window, since that’s what mail does anyway.
I very much support this suggestion.
Oh. Also, there should be a /dance_common emote too, a dance that is common to all races. Being able to synchronize dancing is very much awesome, but it sucks that it only looks good if you have people of the same race.
I want /dance_timewarp.
What? I mean, we have the spell already …
… it’s just a jump to the left……….

I’d like to see how much influence each individual member has contributed to the guild, in the guild leader’s interface.
That would be awesome. No rewards, just play through the content again. It would give us a chance to share them with friends, too, friends who may not have been around the first time you ran through those missions. I love the fact that you can bring friends into your story instances, and I find myself halting my story progress, until timezones and scheduling permits my friends to be around to share in the experience with me.
I believe they said that capes were on the list, once they fix clipping issues.
I’ve enjoyed WvWvW, but imo, you should keep PvE and PvP separate.
My suggestion: implementing some "relaxing" activities

Vanguard’s fishing was fun. Although not very relaxing, haha.
Doesn’t anyone just do a thing just for the fun of doing it anymore? If an activity is fun, I’ll do that activity, reward or no reward.
Guess I’m a dying breed or something.
Because the only description you have right now is “level 16 guardian story quest.”
There is more than one level 16 guardian story quest. Until we know -which- level 16 “guardian story quest” you’re on, it’s going to be very difficult for anyone to assist you, be that the players or ANet themselves.
Freedom of speech doesn’t apply to videogames.
freedom of speech applies to everything.
Actually, it doesn’t. This is an oft-quoted error.
Freedom of speech (if you’re in the US), only applies to public areas, not private areas. This forum, the game, are all private areas, they’re all owned by ANet. We’re here on their sufferance only. Freedom of speech does not allow you to come into my house and make racial slurs. That’s my property. I own it. And I decide what is or isn’t allowed, within the confines of the law.
I cannot allow more than the law allows. But I can choose to allow less.
ANet own the 1s and 0s that make this game. They own the servers that those 1s and 0s live on. Their house, their rules. Freedom of speech does not apply. You don’t like the rules you agreed to when you came into this house, leave the house.
(Technically, you do have the right to come into my house and use whatever racial slurs you choose. But I then have the right to eject you. That’s the right Anet are currently exercising)
(edited by raphaeldisanto.5478)
You can find out which options you chose by checking your story tab in the hero screen.
