Glob shot only bounces 1 time in a 1 vs 1 situation while the tooltip says it should bounce 3 times (it can bounce 3 times because it can bounce off of the player himself granting him swiftness). This means it loses 50% of its damage and utility in a 1vs1 situation. It does bounce 3 times but only when multiple enemies are present.

In the third part of the video you can see that glob shot can bounce off of the player in a 1vsX situation, I wonder why it doesn’t do the same in a 1 vs 1 situation. This is a bug right?

other:
Toss elixir x still doesn’t remove a condi with alchemical trinctures.

Air blast still doesn’t do its burning damage on enemies that aren’t burning already, so it’s in conflict with the tooltip.

Super elixir doesn’t work on enemy structures in wvw.

Nades should have a 180 explosion radius standard imo and the grenadier trait has to be changed to velocity increase and cooldown reduction instead.

Flamethrower explained

Flamethrower 1 is the best for “on hit” “on crit” procs, because it does 10 instances of an attack in 2 seconds, and each of them can crit separately, similar as grenades.
So things like bunker down, traights from firearms, runes with 1 sec internal cds proc like no tomorrow

I think it’s now five hits (they nerfed it if im not mistaking).

The autoattack isnt really worth the casttime and its usually picked for the other 4 skills, plus the toolbelt skill hits very hard in a condi setup. Better simply ignore the AA. It has some little uses against opponents behind structures, but in the big picture its crap.

I would like to add that its also good when the enemy is using reflects and incendiary ammo is applied real fast with it (beter burst damage) and more reliable (can’t be reflected).

I dont like juggernaut (kitcamping is boring and hurts your damage output more often then not).
Air blast does not what the tooltip says (only applies burning when the target is already on fire)
Napalm could use some changes, its pretty underwhelming for a skill with such a long cooldown. Making it an elixir (procs HGH and alchemical tinctures) would be a nice start.
Im fine with the smoke vent but if they ever gonna buff it, adding a 2s smoke field to it would be so awsome (flamethrower providing stealth).

Static shot applies 2 stacks when I test it in pve.
You can calculate your confusion damage with the formulas found here.

As an engi I hope tornado gets buffed a little cuz its super weak when compared to rampage. (10k less extra health, no leaps, weak damage, cant ress, cant stomp, no damage reduction, no cripple chill immob duration reduction, ect…).

The tooltip on elixir guns and mortars elixir skills say they give 24s might instead of the actual duration of 18s (15s HGH + 20% alchemical trinctures).

Toss elixir x still doesn’t remove a condi with alchemical trinctures.

Air blast does not apply its burning damage on targets that aren’t burning already.

Forced into scrapper traitline

That is not what forced means. The Scrapper and the hammer are an optional combination, but come as a package. You either take them, or you don’t. Either way your not forced to do anything at all, you are simply given a chance.

I understand that they come in a package and i’m questioning the necessity of of that restriction.
It just looks like a lot of wasted build possibilities to me.

Why do I have to use the scrapper traitline if I want to use the hammer? As someone who likes to theorycraft I hate being forced into traitlines and the elite specializations do just that. It limits the build possibilities by alot if you want to use a hammer or gyros. Is this restriction really necessary (for the engineer and/or other classes)? It’s also annoying when I quickly want to slot a scrapper skill but dont have the scrapper traitline activated.

Every time i want to use a skill from the elite specialization skills I have to change my build to include the elite specialization traitline. I find it unnecessarily annoying ( especially in wvw) and it limits build diversity.

Whats the community’s opinion about this?

Engineer Effect Reduction is overdone

I still have a flame blast detonation fireball (just faster) and its not that you can do anything to avoid the damage of the detonation after you see the detonation animation, right?

The orbital strike animation is just to small. But then again, there are way stronger attacks that have no clear animations/dodgeability either.

Are you sure you had the alchemy traitline activated in your build?( carefull wvw, pvp and pve have their seperate builds). I just did some quick tests and as far as i can tell super elixir with Alchemical Tinctures does remove 2 conditions.

All time thought, that remove only 1 condi (passive talent doesn’t count).
Acid bomb should remove condi too (cos it buff to +2 to might).

Are you trying to say that you have the same problem? i still remove 2 condies (tested it in pve map “malchor’s leap”) Where do you guys test it?

When fighting someone I want to know whether he has stability or not before using a cc skill. But due to the way how boons are displayed and no visual indicator it’s hard/impossible to find it out in time while fighting and that leads to wasted cooldowns or even death (overcharged shot). With the increasing possibilities of gaining stability this concerns me.

Boon icon annoyances:
-The icons are too small (I play in windowed mode with interface size on “larger”).
-The more boons/buffs the smaller the icons get. (see attachment)
-The boons constantly move position every time another boon runs out.
-There is no specific order of boon placement (newest boons go left).
-buffs (nourishments, guild buffs, stacks) on the same line with boons and skill indicators.

In WVW I never get hate for being an engi. Are you running a burn burst condi engi build? Some people hate getting downed by those because those builds are a little cheesy.

Trapper thieves (and perplexity condi mesmers) lack reasonable counterplay possibilities.

I had to incorporate Lock On into my build just to be able to deal with these stealth abusers (i dont need reveal for all the other stealth builds).
Not all classes/builds have the luxury of having reveals and I fully understand their well warranted frustration. Trapper thieves have to be dealt with.

I do not like the suggestion at all.

Anet should start with buffing the tornado a little. rampage gives 20k extra health tornado only 10k. Ramapage also gives 25% incomming damage reduction, chill cripple immobilize duration reduction and the tornado doesn’t according to the wiki. Making the #2 and #3 skill hit 3 people would also help alot.

yep magnet pull isn’t working properly. i was already a bit worried when they said on the stream that it was only a problem when the enemy was at around 1200 range. We should help the devs in figuring out when exactly the pull fails. pre patch i had to agro the enemy first before i could use the pull and sometimes in mid combat the pull would not display a animation and fail also. (need to play more to see what is different post patch).

Dont even bother with fixing med blaster just copy paste #2 skill in #1, remove all groundtargeting, buff bandage self to 7k and fix the mechanized deployment (15% toolbelt recharge reduction) bug.

Air blast says it does burning but says nothing about extending burning duration anymore. (it still just adds 1 stack for 2 seconds when used on a burning target(not on a non burning target)) Did the discription change just this patch or was it like that before?

I love the bug fixes that have been done today. healing mist even removes a condition now.

They took away our flamethrower cooldown reduction (-20%) trait since the 23/6 patch. The flame jet damage increase comming in 2 days won’t make up for it really, i’m all for some cooldown reductions.

I don’t know what builds you consider meta for wvw but I can share some opinions about the builds that I find rather hard to beat (in wvw with my build). Powerbuilds can mostly be beat as long as you know what they can do (quite obvious) . Engineers main weakness is conditions. I bring healing turret (2/15s), super elixir (1/16s) , superior sigil of cleansing (1/9s) and transmute (1/15s) as condition cleanses. With those i have a reasonable chance (about 50%?) to beat burst burn guardians, condi engineers (serious builds), condi rangers, condi thieves, cele necros and cele eles. uphill battles are against condi necros and condi mesmers (+90% in mesmers favor).

Overall a well played engi with a serious build (2 or 3 kit engi) seems like a solid dueler to me.

(ones alchemical tinctures + elixir x bug is fixed and med kit is made useable and buffed, engineers will have more/beter options to deal with conditions )

Wolfineer has some nice wvw dueling videos on youtube and on his site you can find tips on how to fight specific builds. You should watch those vids if you want a good understanding of what the engi is capable of. I myself am waiting for him to make a " how to fight pu condition perplexity mesmer" video for some extra tips.

I have been running “lock on” in wvw ever since a trapper condi thief troll decided to spawn camp our eb waypoint. I have noticed that reveal (lock on) counters thiefs WAY! harder than it counters mesmers. Instead of changing/nerfing reveal anet should give thiefs the tools with which they don’t have to rely on stealth so much.

If reveal is replaced by your “spotted” suggestion then utility goggles with the reveal toolbelt skill will become even more useless then it already is. Only sd engies take that gadget and since static discharge only works with toolbelt skills that fly straight to the targeted enemy static discharge engies will not be able to make much use of the fact that the enemy was spotted since he doesn’t have many aoe skill with which he can hurt the thief.

Replacing a few “reveal” skills (hardcounter to stealth) with "spotted " (softcounter to stealth) can be acceptable but we have to define what spotted does and make sure it’s worth investing in.

Fighting you stealth abusers is a real chore for alot of builds/classes and i would like to see more reasonable counters to stealth.

I never used or been a fan of pistol/shield builds but the only good engie builds i have faced with them were full condi.

Illusionary counter
This is when a Mesmer goes into a block animation and raises their sceptre up, do not hit them and just focus on killing illusions or just type /laugh.

Just as additional information:
If you accidentially hit into the block, you can still dodge the torment application.

The illusionary counter block is hard to spot especially when its an asure mesmer. Dodging the torment is a good idea but since you cant tell weither you just hit the illusionary block or an aegis from prismatic understanding its not really an option. Making illusionary counter more visually noticeable would solve alot.

I would put a stun breaker on the “detection pulse” F5 skill. That way the f5 skill is not completely useless when fighting against non stealth enemies and we dont have to slot a stun breaker in the utility slots anymore (more build freedom). Sneak gyro seems to be the only gyro worth slotting in any serious wvw roaming build, all the other gyros are lost causes imo.

Self bandage does not scale with mechanized deployment (15% toolbelt skill recharge reduction). throw accelerant (med kit #4) cant be picked up if you dont have a movement impairing condition on you (remnant of pre patch) all the other condition cleanses can be picked up regardless if you have condies on you. #3 has a different cast time then #2 #4 and #5 (probably a mistake). Ow and remove the ground targeting because it’s scheisse.

  • #4 can always be picked up fine. NO BUG
  • #3’s cast time is intentional. Cast times don’t accidentally have the fitting animations either. NO BUG

You are right about #4 being picked up all the time. The animation makes it disappear real slow, I just assumed when I walked over it, it wasn’t picked up.

nice how you dodged that stealth entangle at 7:06. I didn’t knew before that you could see a white circle on the ground when its used. Do you pay extra attention for necro attacks that you definitely want to dodge? if yes, which?

What are you gonna put into your utility slots? are you going to take the “firearms” traitline? If you dont already have cele gear maybe answering those question and deciding later if cele are the best stats for your build and worth the effort/money crafting.

I think most people use runes with power stats. condi damage can be increased with condi duration increase like foods and also power runes.

it has never failed to pull off of a wall in wvw.

yes im watching choxie a lot on twitch and his wvw necro roaming and spectral grasp doesnt seem to fail when pulling people off of cliffs too. good to know

A week ago I tried to pull a ranger off of the wall at sunnyhill tower. while normally ( at that certain position) they fly over my head and off of the mountain to their death, this one only barely seemed to stumble and fall of of the wall (surviving). I assumed my pull bugged that time.

It’s just a good all round build, strong in 1v1, brings alot of utilities for small group fights, has no trouble against almost all powerbuilds. Condi cheese builds are the hardest to fight but you still have a good chance against them. Direct damage is heavy rotation based (takes a while to get used to). (the burning damage is higher ingame then what the calculator says: incendiary powder +3800, napalm +1500 per tick, flamejet +1200)

the flame legion rune can be switched for traveler rune. if you are content with 125% movement speed you can then replace “streamlined kits” with “lock on”. the stats that you lose get compensated by increased boon duration (regen, might, vigor).

mango pie (90 health regen/sec) is also a verry good cheap food.

Finding builds could be made easier by cleaning up all the pre 23/6/2015 posts in the sticky thread “Post Your Build Thread”. Most people just make a new thread to show their builds but they all get bumped off of the first forum page to eventually be forgotten.
