A celestial build not using incendiary powder is not poperly using his condition damage stats (imo). You should try to theorycraft some beter build, its fun. At what im seeing currently i would not even recommend an armor containing the condition damage stat(other then celestial).

Just because you get a hate whisper does not necessarily mean that you “won”, “are doing something right” or that they are bad players.

If they block you after they whisper you thats pretty cowardly.

I almost never get salty whispers and i roam alot. Many players also deserve the unpleasant whispers they get (intentional duel disrupters, condi mesmers, troll corpsjumpers , … )

So you get many salty whispers?
Have you reflected on your own actions first before making this thread?

Amazing so another thing ANET should fix i geuss. Sad enough that players do this just to show how salty they are. Thank you for your response.

Being able to whisper enemies is verry handy to ask for duels/advice , …. .
This is not something anet should change imo. (unless they make communicating to enemies easier)

Super Elixir isn’t effected by it either; it removes one condition by default.

Super elixir is affected by alchemical trinctures. It removes 1 condi by default and 2 condies when traited.

Uhm I tested this in sPvP some days ago and acid bomb removes a condi when trained.

So you think it does remove conditions but only the tooltip is wrong? I might need to perform further testing, but I could have sworn Acid Bomb didn’t remove any conditions on me when traited.

Acid Bomb does not remove a condition, only the 2 skills i mentioned remove conditions on your self when traited (healing mis (1 condi) and super elixir (2 condies)). not traited only super elixir removes a condition.

With alchemy (Alchemical tinctures) healing mist removes 1 condi and super elixir removes 2 condies non of the other skills remove condies on your self. Without alchemy only Super elixir removes a condi on your self (only 1 this time). There are many tooltips that give wrong information. Sigil of cleansing is also a good condi remover in wvw.

If, in the future, Anet continues to create Specializations, then they need to reconsider giving the Engi a second weapon.

Do you mean a weapon swap or just another weapon so you can choose between 2 weapons? (weapon swap (after the nerfs that would certainly follow) would just make engineer another boring class imo)

I’m all for more kits and weapon choices, maybe even a customizable kit where you can put in 2 gadgets or elixirs.

Its true that most/all hammer scrappers lack range pressure. I roam with a hammer scrapper buddy and i much rather have him play a rifle engi cuz hes spending to much time being kited and swinging his hammer in the air (hitting nothing ofc) while im being focused down.

Where is your proof about your statement?

I roam on a daily basis and i fight and see more hammer engineers then rifle, p/p or p/s ones. Most of my guildies play mostly hammer builds, most of the veteran engineers i know on my server play mostly hammer builds. (I play in mid to low tier by the way). Do you want me to record all my gameplay to convince you of the obvious or something?

Now tell me what you are willing to sacrifice for a weapon swap.

Hammer engineers are currently the most common kind of engineer in wvw .
So you want a second weapon (weapon swap i assume you mean) in exchange for what? What are you willing to sacrifice for it? Adding a weapon swap will only lead to our utility skills (kits especially) to be nerfed. You think that is gonna enhance our adaptability/flexibility?

Nonexistant Tools minor trait

The current trait is 15% recharge on tool belt skills, this trait alone as a minor.
Every other class mechanic CDR is a grandmaster minor+the original 5(25) trait AS WELL.

The toolbeltskill recharge under 25% health was nice, It would be great if they brought it back, maybe put it in place of “Optimized activation” or “Excessive Energy” because those minors are pretty useless imo.

Thief only has a 15% CDR on steal so its normal that they get an additional damage bonus but mesmer gets a 15% CRD on 5 shatter skills + confusion duration increase and eles get an extra 10% boon duration. Guardian get 15% CDR on 3 virtues + 1% damage increase for every boon. Ranger 20% CDR on pet swap + a damage bonus. Our minor doesn’t seem half bad especially when compared to that of the thief.

Our “Excessive Energy” (10% damage increase when full endurance bar) minor on the other hand is really weak when compared to warriors “Stick And Move” (10% damage increase when non full endurance bar).

The Rifle/Ft build is my signature is verry viable in wvw (use it if you like a more active playstyle). It’s also good for casual PVEing (not high lvl PVE).

I haven’t noticed the blunderbuss bug yet.
Does it miss when the enemy is infront of you? or does it miss like in this video when the enemy is at an angle (im holding the right mouse button)? It’s weird that when i test it on pvp golems the angle that blunderbuss still hits can be much bigger then when i shoot the spider.

When i test the net shot on pvp golems it has 1200 range.

Im not a fan of unblockable range attacks. It would be nice if overcharged shot could go through reflects like air blast can though.

If it’s for looks, you can make nice outfits without the predator skin. Beter spend some money/time finding a good build/gamemode you like to play instead of wasting it on a predator imo.

These new easy-to-land, super high damaging skills on short cooldowns are a disgusting violation of the game (yes, I’m brine-level salty about this).

It surprises me that heavy light wasn’t changed/nerfed 2.

The 0.25s increase is pretty noticable for some1 like me who picks his turret back up most of the time( it slows me down). It’s not a huge nerf but why dont they just nerf scrapper without touching core engi. Should I be afraid to lose “Self regulating defenses” next time they try to nerf scrappers survivability?

Nades need a baseline explosion radius increase (either the one from the grenadier trait or revert the explosion radiuses to the ones from before the 23/6/2015 patch) that way you dont have to take the explosions traitline to play with nade kit.

Revert changes to nades, remove this passive bs from the game, and give us our fun noob- filter profession back.

Noob-filter profession? Do you meet alot of strong vanilla engies in wvw? (i certainly dont, the last one i can remember was from before HOT release, i guess most good engies play scrapper now)

Vanilla condi engies are pretty meh imo.
Pistols are pretty weak, shield has long cooldowns, good condi builds aren’t all that mobile , rely too much on too few dammage sources and get countered by the many reapers roaming around.

Personally i would recommend you buy a logitech G13 for your left hand because it’s more comfortable then a keyboard and you can easily select a different set of keybinds for different classes (+logitech gaming software). For your right hand i recommend a gaming mouse with lots of buttons. The G600 is perfect for GW2 but if you also like to play shooters maybe it’s better to buy a mouse that is easier to pick up and move around.

Elixirs often have a fair amount of random effects, why that is exactly i don’t know. Tornado doesn’t make much sense though, maybe it was chosen together with rampage because it was the least amount of coding work to implement and still have RNG. (death shroud consumes life force and i don’t know any other pre hot transformations similar to rampage).

The randomness of elixirs is not liked much by many players.

I had way more action/fun on the old maps (roamer). The new ones are boring, to much pve, hardly meet other roamers (big maze).
What is with the air and fire keep waypoints being contested all the time?
Weekly map rotations could be fun, need 1 more map for that probably.
What about water, you guys like very little water (like new maps) or a fair amount of water (old maps) on your borderland? I like having the option to use water as an escape route.

Some things worth noting imo:

Want to play with nades? => explosive traitline (grenadier)
want to play condi/hybrid? => firearms traitline (incendiary powder) (firearms also has a -20% recharge rate in rifle skills)
inventions is good for => +25% movement speed, heal skill off cooldown at 25% health, smoke bomb, -20% shield skill recharge reduction
alchemy => self regulating defenses,hidden flask, HGH, protection injection, best traitline for condi cleanses (alchemical tinctures + transmute) (i never build without this traitline)
tools=>power wrench, -15% recharge rate on toolbelt skills, perma swiftness, +50% endurance regen
scrapper=> you need this traitline if you want to play with hammer (or gyros). Hammer builds generally perform the best i think (easy to play). You can make viable WvW roaming builds with all weapon sets though.

generally:
pistol/pistol =condi
p/s= condi/hybrid
rifle= power/hybrid
hammer=power/hybrid

Scrapper vs Reaper

I can’t tell you how to play as a scrapper but what i usually do is:
normal form=> direct damage + cc (agressive)
reaper shroud=> kiting (you dont want him close to long) + immobilize + condies ( he can’t condi transfer then) + cc if stability is down + ranged pressure

moa if his health pool is low to finish him (regardless of the size his life force pool) or moa combined with condies is also a safe way to apply condies.

What game mode you want to play (PvP,PvE,WvW)? In WvW Rifle (with the proper build) can be really strong , your survivability depends on the build you use and how well you use it.

I’m aware of the fact that engi is a verry strong/versatile class, you dont have to tell me that. Every player gets carried by his build, some just more than others.

Speaking as an engi who only plays WvW, fighting against pre HOT perplexity dire condi mesmers. (condi mesmer roamers seem to have gone nearly extinct for some reason (which is a good thing, fighting against “OP” elite specs is still way more enjoyable then fighting a condi mesmer)).

I can’t say condi mesmer is easy to play since I don’t play it myself but it is/was imo by far the most annoying build to fight.
metabattle’s description of the build :" One of the most annoying-to-fight builds of all time, ever…".

I perform pretty well against most other condi builds since i bring a fair amount of condi cleanses and most can be worn down/outplayed.

general annoyances when fighting a perplexity dire condi mesmer:

- When you see that you hit a block you can dodge to avoid illusionary counter but chances are high that you just hit an aegis of prismatic understanding thus making you waste a dodge. Often you can’t see if the mesmer was using illusionary counter because most of them condi mesmers play with tiny asura’s and the animation is not really one of the most telegraphed.

- When he’s using confusiong images you can dodge but you’ll end up with a few condi stacks on you anyway.

-most of the time you can’t play aggressive because you are either on the defensive (dealing with clones or whatever you call them ) or you have just to many confusion stacks on you. Combine that with the good survivability of the condi mesmer build making it a long boring fight that you will end up losing if the mesmer has half a brain.

-As a 3 kit engi I probably get hit alot more by the confusion stacks than the average other player (every kit swap procs confusion (I need to swap ALOT if i wanne do damage), healing turret procs confusion twice,…) so im probably biased against a build that has so much acces to confusion.

Even the rocket charge you mention isn’t a full evade and can’t be canceled, meaning that a well-timed interrupt can still stop the scrapper. As it should be.

quick question: Can some1 tell me at what time during rocket charge you are evading and at what time you aren’t (susceptible to cc) ?

Weapon Kit damage

Kit damage is affected by the STATS that you have.

The higher your stats that affect damage (power, precision, ferocity, expertise, condition damage,…) the more damage you will deal. A ascended weapon will give you more stats then an exotic weapon but that does not yet mean that you will do more damage if you equip the higher quality weapon. Its the type of stats that are important. for example: equiping a “Nomad” type weapon which gives “vitality”, “toughness” and “healing power” stats will have no effect on the damage you will deal.
Equiping an ascended berserker weapon ( 251 power, 179 precision, 179 ferocity) will get you a beter DIRECT damage output then equiping an exotic berserker weapon (239 power, 171 precision , 171 ferocity).

No they wont lol, (imo) a large portion of the wvw scrappers are just some bandwagoners who play scrapper because its strong and easy to play. Where were all those engineers before HOT was released?

Air blast

It used to extend burning by 2 seconds when you used it on a enemy that was already burning, this was still when burning didn’t stack (it would do like 1100 burning damage on a cele build). When burning stacks were introduced (now) it still works the same way (only on already burning enemies) but it does less damage (1 stack 2 seconds = 654 on my cele build) and the tooltip was changed from “extends burning duration” to “burning (2s)” which is not true when used against non burning enemies.

They nerfed the HGH might time from 20 sec to 15 sec some time ago, but they didn’t change the tooltip description (calculation code) from eg.

All the EG kit needs is a bug fix for #2 so it bounces of the engineer in a 1v1 situation (hitting the enemy 2 times) and making #1 have a 1200 range would also be nice ( it’s already a strong kit). Like sins and choovanski said, adding evade to rocket boots would be a much more reasonable idea maybe even adding it to rocket kick.

Only the elixir skills from the elixir gun give you the HGH benefits (healing mist, acid bomb and super elixir (the tooltip says they are elixirs)). healing mist and super elixir also get affected by alchemical tinctures.

If you want build advice you first need to tell us for what game mode (pvp , wvw, pve content …).

not only that but they have skills that are better than warriors. Just 1 example is Elixir U, is better than Frenzy and could be made with shorter cool down (Elixir B as well combines 1 warrior skill and a trait with longer last time in retaliation). They wanna talk balance in this game maybe they need to fix these type of things.

Engineer has stronger utility skills and a stronger core mechanic (toolbelt) as compensation for not having a weapon swap.

i would prefer to remove the invul from scrapper to fix it ( the passive trait. if you wan’t to bring the skill instead you are free to do ) and fix slip shoes ( all run in circle to exploit the proc, which can’t be dodged. and still has not be fixed ).

Self regulating defenses is a core engi trait not a scrappers. I would hate to see core engi being nerfed ( the trait exists for years) especially while elite specs are so strong.

If you want help you should be more specific about what game mode (WvW/PvP/PvE) you want to play and with what utilities (kits, elixirs, turrets, gyros,…) do you want a power, hybrid or condi build? From your post history I assume you want a pvp build. (im not a pvper, can’t help you myself).

Pistols and shield is mostly used for condi builds and hammer/rifle is more power orientated.

I would not call kits and elixir x useless for the most part (sure tornado and some kits could use buffs). Are you talking about core engi or scrapper included? The #1 on harpoon is really slow but you can use elixir gun underwater, its really fast and besides underwater combat is verry unbalanced (pet res for example) people generally dont care much about it anyway i think. As for “Anyone else think engi could be better?” in WvW roaming some core engi builds can compete with the elite specs.

To the people crying over and over that this game is pay to win, I only have 1 thing to say to you.
Buy the god kitten game. It’s currently 44.99£ on the website. If you can’t afford that, then you probably shouldn’t waste your time playing games anyway, much less spend time on the kittening forums complaining about it.

Arenanet is a company, with employees. As any coorporation with people on a payroll, they need money to come in. You complain about them adding new skins, new mini’s and even a new expansion. Is there no pleasing you? Insatiable kittens.

Just because people cry about gw2 being pay2win doesn’t mean they have not purchased HOT yet. Lots of people want the core specs to be generally on the same level as the elite specs so there is more viable build diversity and not just the elite specs that dominate.

Nice build, nice fighting. But I am however expecting a nerf to the reflect on hammer #2 and the stealth of the sneak gyro. The far too easy acess to stealth and reflect counter way too many builds imo, don’t you think? Also how does the build perform against necros?
