I agree with the OP. They fact that the game is new means getting groups for the story lines (mid level especially) is easier but that’s going to change real soon. The fact that I might not even be able to -do- my personal story quests because I am forced to find groups is aggravating enough but to not be able to complete my map and get the achievement as well is just nauseating. I loathe being forced to do a dungeon etc just for that stuff. The fact that I have to be several levels higher than my storyline quests to begin with just to hopefully survive them is pretty irritating as well because I enjoy storylines as part of the game in general. Challenging is good but really…when I have to be over 10 levels higher than my storyline quest so I can have the traits etc to survive it….that’s just stupid. The difficulty should match the actual level don’t ya think?
I did every single quest starting from Claw Island and up at least 2-3 levels under the recommended level except for Zhaitan. I think it’s safe to say you’re doing something wrong if you have to do it 10 levels OVER the recommended.
As for the OP, what I was gonna say has already been said but it’s times like this its nice to think, ‘Over the course of making and checking on this thread, you could’ve finished that story quest, discovered that POI, and been on your merry way by now.’
spend 6 hours of my time and over half a gold in port costs to do something I shouldn’t have to do? I think not. I guess i’ll just not get 100 percent with my chars and give thumbs down to design
how hard would it be for them to open a door or put it at the door? i’m not asking to change the whole game it is 1 point of interest. I have done 10 zones or so never having to go into the storyline to complete a map not once but this zone there is 1 point of interest where you must do the questline up to that point a level 70 questline at that. At level 80 its up to 3 silver to port to a different map and I would either have to run around the whole map or pay prob around half a gold or more for the ports.
If it was like that from step 1 fine but to have no maps make you do the storyline and then there is just 1 point that is just bad design

I shouldn’t have to PVP, so remove WvW POIs
I shouldn’t have to jump, so remove POIs/vistas from jump puzzles
I shouldn’t have to fight, so remove POIs from enemy infested caves…So they should just place them all in a single place to make everyone happy?
Map completion shows you have actually partaken in different parts of the game. If you want to complete the map, you have to do the jumping/swiming/wvw/story, etc, etc. This is perfectly fine as it is.
this is my 3rd level 80 char and I’m doing 100 percent map completion not a storyline your trolling is just plain stupid
I agree. If you don’t want to do the story, that’s your own prerogative, but if the story, the major component of this game, is part of an achievement, I don’t see why you should complain about it if you are just being lazy and don’t want to do it.
well number 1 I already did the whole storyline with one of my level 80’s and don’t feel like doing it on my alt’s.
Number 2 getting world map completion with points of interest should have nothing to do with a story line. I have 99 percent of that map complete but because it won’t let me in 1 door for a level 70 quest that I don’t like I now can’t complete that part of the map 100 percent? umm no its bad for a game to force someone to spend a day to do a quest line for something that is not even the same thing.
or u could do a alt with another race…heck even the same race has multiple story choices that change what quests you do as well as other orders to choose from…this game is very story oriented such as TOR …get over it? heck u can even SKIP the cutscenes…and the quests give large xp and good rewards per the lvl u do them…

well your talking about a whole other issue with players showing up invisible. If you and another player had the same skill at everything the player with the 3 orbs would win everytime hands down. fight your shadow that has 150 stats higher and 15 percent more health you will lose. Blow for blow you will lose everytime.
Also to add one more thought to add to the fun of being the winner of the week have each major city throw a party with fireworks and dancing (or something like that) in each major city for there win for an hour or two and have NPC’s talk about the great victory or something to that effect.
Just get rid of orbs all together. As it stands right now many matches are one sided. Give a server that not only has the numbers on you, owns the map, and all 3 orbs there is not much chance. Those orbs make a HUGE difference especially when you own all 3.
With that said lets say there were 2 pro pvp players with the same skill only difference one of the players owns all 3 orbs who is going to win? the player with the orbs everytime over and over and over and over and…. well you get the point I hope.
Also, reading the forums I hear alot from the winning teams that they want more of a challange from us weaker servers well hey a good start would be getting rid of orbs all together. Not only would it help even the playing feild as far as stats go it would help get rid of all the complaints of the flying hacks.
No orbs means no reason to fly hack orbs and fly away like a coward and a cheat. So please get rid of orbs ASAP they might have been a good pipe dream but they are really bad for the game. Maybe do some reward system each week where winning server (all players on that server not just the ones in pvp to help encourage players to play pvp) get 100 pvp tokens for the win, 2nd gets 50 and 3rd gets 25 or something like that.

So i’m in Straits of Devastation and I can’t get a Point of Interest because I haven’t done the quest temple of the forgotten gods in my storyline. You need to stop forcing players to do your storyline so they can get a Point of Interest. I already did the full storyline with one of my level 80’s and to be honest I DON’T want to do it again.
I thought on this character I would do the 100 percent map and come to find out I can’t get a point of interest because I didn’t do the story line? Who decided this was a good idea? Please make it so players can get ALL points of interest without doing your storyline!

You have made a great looking game I will give you that but can you please stop being so greedy. The way you have made the game evolve around money shows so much so it takes alot of the fun out of the game. The last 4 yellow drops in the 80 zone gave me zero ecto with a masters salvage kit ZERO. Its rare enough just to get a yellow and then to get not even 1 ecto out of 4 yellows is BS.
Did 100 percent map comp in eternal BG and not even 1 silver for it? REALLY? My 1 little relief was the karma vendor at lions arch that allowed me to buy salvage kits, picks and axes with karma is gone. You charge 15 silver for a master salvage kit and they are only good it seems now for pulling gems or sigils off gear what gives. Why even buy them that price is just crazy.
You take kama bulk out of main ingredients for baking like vanilla beans which are now over a silver to buy just 1 give me a break. 3 silver each time I travel from lions arch to level 80 zone. I can understand that you would like people to spend money on gems I get that but to make it so noticable that all you want is people to buy gems that takes a HUGE chunk of fun out of the game. All I do now in this game it seems is farm.
I don’t want this game to be just to play until another MMORPG comes out so I can jump ship I want to be excited about new expansions to come out but many issues are causing me to get frustrated with the game. A game should be about fun not about getting annoyed.
Anyhow as a suggestion please stop being so greedy and loosen up your kung fu grip on your satchel of gold and goodies and sprinkle some around a little. Its like living with ebenezer scrooge.
Well I can tell you right now I have seen a large drop in players not only in WvW on our server but in the game as well. I’m not saying it is all due to this issue but it is making me not play much WvW at all and the main reason I wanted to play was WvW but that has been taken away from me because when I join a server I stick to a server i’m not one of those who leaves a server because they want to be on the “winning” team just to say they are. being on a low pop server sucks I guess i’ll just have to live with it because if you complain it will be closed anyways…

ok there is a difference between 24 hour battle and capping when everyone else is asleep. If I was in the army lets say and in North America I can’t teleport to Austraila and take your town when you go to sleep.

If you live in Australia and you want to play with your North American friends then they should make some international servers where everyone from all over can play and make area restricted servers so there is not all this night capping going on or WHOLE guilds moving to a server just to night cap.

So the main issue that many of the lower servers are having (at least on the North American servers) is that other guilds from different parts of the world are joining “North American” servers and night capping. I talked to someone the other day who’s guild was switching to an overseas server so they could be the “night cap” team. So the larger servers have large pvp guilds from different parts of the world that when its night time here its daytime their which is why they have the 24/7 full coverage. To me that is cheating if everyone is in the world fighting but they have an advantage because everyone goes to bed and you have a fresh pvp population because they are overseas and its daytime for them how is that fair? Also, don’t give me well you need to recruit overseas players. They should not be playing on a North American server. I’m also wondering if some of the lag issues are caused by this as well.
I feel that we need to have a “cheats” forum so that we as a community can talk about these issues and it also allows people to be able to report a cheat more easily if they can read about it. If someone doesn’t know about a certain cheat that is out there then they may not report it because they don’t know about it. However, if there is a forum that allows us to talk about them it can bring to light these issues and bring a faster resolve to more of them. I feel just closing all the forum threads that are being closed about cheating is hiding this huge issue in my opinion. Thank you.
I just watched a player that I was attacking jump off a cliff and die (he was not still alive and able to heal himself) and then after about 10 seconds of being dead get up and run off. he was dead what is going on with all these cheats I am seeing. are people that bent on winning that they just cheat? Another one yesterday there was 3 of us that dropped a guy and he popped back up 3 times (somehow with us hitting him non stop) with half health until he finally died after the 3rd time. What is the point of playing if cheats are rampant!
GW2 is about as far removed from the idea of “Hardcore” gaming as most every mmo I’ve played. The lack of a wide gear treadmill is one of the reasons. The fact you can jump into PvP from the start of the game is another reason. GW2 goes to very long lengths to make this game very casual friendly. But I think the OP belongs to a group removed from even casual, maybe even “ultra casual?” That’s not meant to be insulting, everyone plays it their own way. It’s like the difference between Batman: Arkham Asylum and LEGO Batman. Not in the sense one is geared towards entertaining kids, but just that sort of casual fun-ness versus something maybe more serious…where the challenge is higher to get the rewards versus just being able to fire it up and get almost immediate satisfaction. I dunno if that make sense.
I have put alot of hours into this game and sure you can go around the world just fine and kill stuff i’m talking dungeons hehe and lego batman. I have 2 level 80 chars already and yes you can run around and kill 1, 2, or 3 mobs at a time and live (3 gets pretty tough 4 you might need to just run if you can). My friend and I tried to go into a level 30 dungeon and yes I know it lowers your stats to the level but we had a very very hard time killing just the first mob by ourselves (even died in the process) so THAT is hard in my opinion. I know it says need 5 and ya basically you need 5 and the only “dungeon” i have done is the end game one which was a challange constant mobs don’t give you a chance to get your health up especially on the ship fighting the dragon with mobs and constant poison, it’s pretty hard if you ask me. Like I said I play alot but I don’t consider myself a “hardcore” gamer.
Also at level 80 there is just a little spot and hours of killing the same couple events. I would say 1/4 to 1/2 of the people in the zone camp penitent waypoint and shelter’s gate waypoint to do the two events there for hours apon hours of the same thing over and over to salvage until your heart is content. no one is doing the dungeons that I see they are empty why? One they are not worth it for most so the casual gamer is not going to do them only people who play long long hours. Like I said I feel it is more for the top 20 percent of players but hey that is my opinion and it seems most people don’t agree with me about this. Maybe your servers have alot of people running dungeons but not mine or maybe i’m just plain wrong.

like I said you can never please the hardcore gamer as they will always say its to easy.
So I noticed even in guild wars 1 but more in guild wars 2 it has been made more towards the “hardcore gamer” which is maybe at best 20 percent of the people that buy games. That leaves the bottom 80 percent (your bread and butter) left scratching their heads.
I consider myself not “hardcore” but I play much more than the average gamer however when you gear a game towards mostly “hardcore gamers” then what are you left with? 20 percent. For example you don’t see many people at all playing dungeons just the “hardcore” players because for most they are to hard for them. Sure if you play 40 or more hours a week of this game i’m sure if you can get a good core group and it will be much easier (on top of that you will never please the hardcore gamer because no matter how hard you make it they will just say its to easy) but what about the majority of people who play maybe 5 to 10 hours a week to break free and have some fun. You are going to lose them because who wants to play a game that is to hard for them when they just wanted to have some fun and smash some things and maybe find some cool loot.
Also many people play these styles of games to find things like armor or weapons rare crafting recipes that allows you to make cool rare items. Do you know what I do with all the drops I find? I salvage them…. You took the “Look at this!” factor out of your game and the excitement to find cool great stuff. When I do a dungeon I want to find “LOOK AT THIS!” and be excited not ahh another item to salvage…. Without that excitement of finding new cool stuff what is the point? so that I can change the look of my armor? Really? No change in stats just the look? Really?
So for a suggestion in the future have rare recipe drops for armor and weapons and maybe some rare pet drops on bosses or something. Add new rare armor drops that you can’t make with normal crafting and only with rare recipes or drops off mobs. Bring the excitement of finding stuff to the game not just another drop to salvage.

So last night when I was in WvW and for a second time playing the game I run up against players that all of a sudden seem to “speed up” (and I mean fast not just a buff type fast) up and kill me in 2 seconds moving and running like they are on crack or something. it is not any type of “lag” as I am moving fine and if it was lag my attacks would freeze and I would know. I did a quick search on google for guild wars 2 cheats and found that there is some speed cheat and teleport cheat and some other cheats my question as I didn’t see a “cheating” forum (maybe there should be one?) is what is being done about this? I see alot about bots that make people mad and I agree it is anoying but nothing makes me madder than playing pvp and finding out there are players cheating to win. I will say i’m glad I don’t pay to play because there are alot of issues at the moment that are frustrating and I can’t stand people cheating. so I guess as a suggestion maybe have a “cheats” forum where people can post cheats that they see other players doing and maybe have a response from you?
Ok so I see alot of replies about well just don’t die or you are doing something wrong or I make a gold or more in WvW. Number 1 unless you have an endless supply of the pvp coins to buy rams, arrow carts, catapults upgrades on towers etc you are going to spend much more money than you get by taking a keep. You get just over 2 silver for taking a keep or so and it costs 6 silver to buy a ram and if you die you are going to spend 2 silver per piece of armor to repair and how about those upgrades for the keep they are not cheap.
So for anyone to say they make a ton of money off WvW you are either killing mobs or just letting everyone else pay the way for upgrades of keeps and siege weapons. I have spent a gold in a couple hours playing WvW upgrading stuff and buying siege weapons and to have to pay 2 silver each time I die when my server is usually always on the bottom is a little over the top for PvP. When the other server owns the whole map and is camping your spawn point and you can’t get enough people to even take a keep and you keep dieing and paying 2 silver each time I think you would see my frustration of paying that much to try and take something over.
If you are on one of the lucky servers that just owns everything because you can keep your WvW full 24/7 great for you. The first week on the game one of the other teams would wait until midnight when the servers reset and rush and take everything (because we didn’t have many people on at that time and still don’t) and then camp our spawns for the rest of the time not much fun and not much fun for repairs either.
Again if you are playing WvW with the intent on helping you TEAM then you will buy siege weapons and upgrades for buildings rather than pocket everything you get that you don’t pay in repairs rather than have your teammates pay for everything. My rant is over….
To add one little bit more why does it cost 6 silver for a ram but you only get 2 silver as a reward to take something over?

I feel that there should be no repair bills when playing WvW. At level 80 you pay close to 2 silver per 1 piece of armor is damaged which is everytime you die. PvE sure I understand but WvW you should not have to pay to repair in my opinion.
Now if you enter WvW with broken armor then yes you would still have to repair it or play with broken armor but you shouldn’t have to repair broken armor in WvW.

I would like to add a suggestion to make the difference between Damage and toughness to be more noticeable. What I mean by that is when I spec power + precision and condition damage or power + condition and crit damage vs power + precision and toughness or on the lines of that toughness will always win. There needs to be in my opinion more of a noticeable difference when I spec for damage vs when I spec in toughness.
When I have no toughness on mobs can take you out quick yet if your spec in all damage it doesn’t make a big enough difference meaning it forces you to spec in toughness unless you want to just die and I feel that shouldn’t be the case. If I spec for damage I should see a much larger increase of damage output then what I see due to the fact that I can’t take many hits.
This holds very true in world vs world you must spec in toughness or you will not live so you can’t just spec in all power and do more damage which I feel is a shame. I know the game is early on but I feel this balance needs to be fixed if I spec in all damage I should see a large increase just like when I spec in toughness for the defence. It is also the same in PvE that you almost need to spec toughness to live when facing more than 1 mob at the higher levels when you usually end up fighting 2 or 3 at a time (at least for casters).
