Having profiles based on Town, open area, PVP, WvW, Instances/Dungs/Raids, would be nice I would think.
For example; Being able to set character limit to lowest in LA/Other towns, and then Medium/High out in the open world would do wonders for performance.
But it would be an addition to the existing profiles. I just wish we could manually set what the set profiles used for settings.
There is no LS3 hype cause its probably not going to be free for the playable chapters. Anet got their Money for HoT and I’ll be they want more money for LS3. My prediction is no Hype Train cause each playable Episode of LS3 is going to cost 600-800 gems.
Otherwise we would see some sort of PR data from Anet. Blogs or otherwise. Why else would they be so tight lipped about it.
Well, two things:
1.) They have said they want to deliver and then hype, not hype and not deliver.
2.) LS3 isn’t going to be free. It’s been said before that LS3 will require HoT. Which is not free. So, if you’re a F2P player, then you won’t get LS3. If you’re not, you’re going to get LS3.
Totally missed what I was talking about.
yes we know LS3 is going to require HoT, but I’m saying (For the sake of entertainment mind you) whats to stop them from charging for LS3 as if it was another expansion but in installments instead? They charge for LS2 for those that did not logon for those 2 weeks, so what if they are just planning on charging for the playable chapters (Ingame events and open areas cant be packaged like that, not really if you think about it)? They could charge 600-800 gems per chapter, and Honestly at this point I can seriously see them going in that direction.
Craft the Pre if you want to feel like you owned it. Its a time investment more then anything and the quests/steps are very interesting if you are into Lore and the feeling of ‘completeness’ Else just buy it on the TP.
But what I would do is take the difference of the cost from Crafting it to buying it and drop that in the MF to RNG for your Pre. You may get lucky and obtain it then. Either way you’ll end up spending the same.
So tons of options there.

Laurels cause you cannot get them any other way.
You can get ascended mats by just playing the game, and/or crafting to do combines.
You get Levels…well quite easily.
The only real choice in that Loyalty chest is the Laurels.
I wish they would remove the Mats and the Leveling Scrolls and give us better options.
Necro condi-tank-minions is pve faceroll godmode.
This, I did my first pass of HoT with my Necro using a Minion Build with 600 healing and never had any issues. And this was on HoT release with it being ‘hard mode’.
Once I got my full Reaper Build that Minion Spec got a whole lot more fun to play. So, I do suggest it.
thanks for all the responses. I ended up dropping another $100, and buying another CPU.
Now the FPS is where it needs to be. Just unfortunate Gw2 does not utilize system resources efficiently between directx 9, windows 10, AMD, and Geforce drivers.
100~ for a 6300 (my guess as to your upgrade) isnt all that bad. however you are still very far behind the performance gap between AMD’s CPUs (2009 Technology) and Intel (2013-2016 Technology).
It really has nothing to do with Dx9, Win10 or Drivers.

make a new account for HoT and use your old account for the Daily Login Bonuses. That is what I would do and you would make the most gains from it, such as turning your laurels from your old account into T6 mats and selling them for gold.
well the only weapons on the gemstore are the skins from the Heroes. as for armor MOST of it is a stupid outfit. And there are limits there that make it NOT a worth while purchase.
Personally I think they need to stop with the outfits and make sets again, and have 30% of the sets on the gem store available in game. And equalize the armor quality so that your not locked into the gem store for A grade armor all the time.
This game is based around cosmetics, its time they figured that out.
The fix would be to offer better discounts on the gem store, and don’t apply that to gem purchases/trades.
I think they need to do more discount weeks on account upgrade items, as the rest of the trash on the Gem store is all cosmetic or you get it from login rewards.
while the 5775c and 5675c’s Iris Pro is a really good iGPU, the benefit of these 2 CPUs (and their e3 Xeon counterparts) is that they use the eDRAM as L4 cache, run lower clocks (3.3ghz~) and compete with a stock 4790K at a much much lower TDP.
But the issue with all the Broadwell Desktop chips, they are hard to find close to MSRP, cant find them locally unless you are very lucky, or you are paying the 500+ price tag just for the CPU. And then you are running on a 9 series Chipset with DMI2, PCIE v2 in the Chipset and other limitations then compared to the newer Skylake systems.
Its just almost not even worth considering Broadwell at all anymore.
Consider the fact that all M and U class mobile CPUs are dual core with HT, they are not quad core CPUs.
You need to consider a true quad core CPU in your laptop to get good performance for GW2. That would be MQ, HQ, MX series CPUs. And most of those are all i7’s, Intel does have an i5-6300MQ now though – http://ark.intel.com/products/88959/Intel-Core-i5-6300HQ-Processor-6M-Cache-up-to-3_20-GHz
But my advice is to buy an older laptop from 2010~ or so that uses an MXM slot so that you can upgrade the GPU when Clevo releases them. Two examples would be a M4600 and M6600. The M4600 is a Type A MXM slot and the M6600 is a Type B MXM Slot. Both can take 32GB of ram, i7-MQ CPUs and pretty decent GPUs (GTX950 is the fastest you can fit for the M4600 and the GTX980M is the fastest for the M6600)
Else if you want to buy new just make sure you pair a HQ CPU with a modern era GPU. And, IMHO, stay away from 4k Displays as no laptop can really handle it.
Logon rewards give you laurels, use them to get your Neck and Accessories. use FOTM daily Chests to farm for Rings, Save your FOTM currency for the universal infusion + the upgrade to it, and Attune your rings.
Once you are at FOTM30+ you have a higher chance at armor crates dropping for ascended armor slots.
Do Tequalt for a chance(1% and lower) at a ascended weapon creates daily.
Did you buy the character slot and then the expansion, or the expansion then the character slot?
Account addons are done in the order they are bought/queued. If you did the expansion first it can take 2-4 hours AFTER the expansion is fully applied to your account for new account upgrades to show up.
The issue is that you are not running the game windowed. When you click outside of the game it will minimize and lose focus. the fix is to change the settings in game from Full Screen to ‘windowed-Full screen’. and that will fix the issue.
FX4300 is not a true Quad core CPU, it only has 2 FPU units while having 4 Int units.
That is the main issue, as well as the inherent Latency found in the FX line.
OP made a poor choice on his CPU purchase, thats all there is to it.
You mean the content drought before HoT right? we went with 8 months before any major updates from Jan until Oct when HoT was released. And now we are back in that same pattern.
sure we get fixes and general updates, but no new story and the like.
I fear that is now the current state of the game as a whole. But, that is what happens when the community demands expansion packs rather then staying with the living story. And there was plenty of warning from those of us that an expansion pack was not the way GW2 should go, and now we all suffer cause of it.
I like Riku’s no waypoint costs idea.
Along those lines another idea might be no cost to transmute skins.
1 free account-bound Black Lion Weapon skin per month?
~EW
No, if the VIPs are getting BL Skins then that will flood the market and make them pretty worthless. It cant hurt the economy, and cant put the game into a Pay2Win model.
It should be a ‘Convenience pack’ like thing.
You missed the part where I said account bound. I already thought about the effect on the market, thanx. P2W is always at the forefront of my mind in these kinds of discussions.
~EW
No, I didnt miss the ‘account bound’ and the statement still stands.
The BEST thing about BL Skins is they are rarer then Legendaries. If they were given away for free like that its the same as ‘flooding the market’.
Lol. Whut? A 50-100 gold skin is rarer than a 3000 gold skin? What math are you using?
As for myself, I have multiple black lion skins. I’m not even sure how many but they are easy to get.
Next time you are out doing world bosses, or a meta event take a tally. How many players are there with Legendaries, and how many are with BL Skins.
For one thing, Legendaries are much more noticeable. They have auras and footprints, etc. I can be standing beside you on my Thief with her full set of Dominator black lion skins and you won’t notice because they aren’t all glowy.
I would notice cause I look for them. Whenever I see someone with the footfalls, I look around for players with other skins. Sometimes I see HoM skins, other times default skins, and then rarely FoTM and BL Skins. But out of all of them, I see way more legendaries then BL Skins on average.
The posters who are all ‘We want DX12..Blah Blah’ Have no idea what they are talking about and are misdirecting the root issue with the game.
We should be demanding that the games control engine be moved from Single Threaded to 2+ threads.
that will solve 99% of this with out even touching DX12.
I like Riku’s no waypoint costs idea.

It would need to be asked if a VIP subscription would do more harm than good. People already argue that the game is p2w. This would add even more to that argument. True or not, a perception that the game is p2w would be a consideration for people thinking of starting the game and could reduce the numbers of new players, causing more reduction in profit than a gain from this feature.
Those that argue that this game is P2W have never played a P2W game before. There is nothing you can buy that will make you ‘Win’ at this game. And the power creep between Free Accounts and HoT Accounts is not all that real.
I like Riku’s no waypoint costs idea.

The character slot and lv80 scroll in my mind would be only once.
To follow up on SirSquishy, I think they could call it “Black Lion Trading Company VIP access” or something along those lines.
Then add simple things related to our beloved monopoly.
Cheaper/ free transmutation charges, a small deduction in trading post fees for posting an item.
Things like that.
yes pretty much.
I do not really see any benefit for a VIP sub outside of the Gold sink stuff we currently mitigate.
But for 5USD/Month, 200 gems + Gold Sink Removals (or just discounts) could be interesting. And then add on a few convenience items (Bank access, Vendor Access, and BLTP access for the duration of the VIP) it becomes a bit more then just interesting for me.
But the ‘No Item damage on Death’ is kinda important, as repairs can be annoying to deal with when you are doing Raids and learning new content and you run out of the cans.
Gaile – How about Statues of the Dragons as done from McFarlane?

For $5 a month:
1. Get 200 gems a month?
2. No waypoint costs
3. Free character slot.
4. Free lv80 boost.Just a quick thought, not sure if I’d agree with these in a week or two. But I was trying to think of simple things that wouldn’t completely make it a p2w model. (not 100% sold on the gem part)
Pretty much this.
I think that the Character Slot/Lv80 Booster should be once a year, but the rest should be a Monthly reoccurring with every VIP RE-UP.
But add on the following;
Instant Bank Access
No Armor Damage
15% off Trading Post Listing Costs
10 Pack of Black Lion Trader and Vendor
In short, it has to be useful for a VIP Sub to make sense.
This thread keep getting more replies, even if developers said that GW2 won’t ever support multithreading or DX upgrades or any kind of new engine.
They even crushed our hopes for GW3 to come out with better graphic and overall optimisation.Note from futue: It’s 2025, we still have DX9c, game is still CPU heavy, it can’t utilize GPU or CPU to max performance.
If GW3 uses the same crap engine that GW2 uses, I will not buy it. its not 2004 anymore, its time to retire old technology.
There won’t be GW3.
They will just keep updating GW2 with new expansions like HoT for example.
There won’t be GW 2.5 or anything … just more updates to GW2.And to update engine of game, they would need to rewrite almost all codes, so we can just forget about it.
I sometimes dream about GW2 running with Unreal Engine 4. Many orgasms.
well they could package a new engine with a future Expansion. But as time goes on, if they leave it as it, the game will die off naturally as newer MMOs ship that offer the same features of GW2 with faster performance.
eventually (I will say with in 2 years) GW2 will need a new game engine to be competitive with other Games in the same Genre.

So in short, do not AFK near Mobs unless you want suspensions. Skills automated or not, Pets active or not. Its just not safe.
This is not true – go AFK wherever you are, if you need to go AFK. If you’re genuinely going AFK, they won’t take action.
If you’re going to go AFK with AFK farming in mind, then you will get a suspension. If you’re genuinely AFK, you’ll probably be dead, or probably not in an AFK hot spot, or not with the exact same build as an AFK farmer next to you, or not near a load of mobs that drop sacks that might give linen. There’s so much criteria that the chances of someone innocently being AFK then suspended is negligible.
It’s going to be true until the GMs are all on the same page. Please re-read the rest of the post that you quoted.
I’m not 100% sure of this, in fact about 60% sure. I think that they will find that the autoloot has nothing to do with the kick timer. I suspect it is how pet/minion damage is reported ingame. It gives the player credit for the damage. That damage report keeps the player in the game. Could be way wrong – and the reason ppl didnt afk farm was there was no benefit.
no, I have tested this.
AFK in a city with auto heal = 60min time out, kick to character select
AFK at a mob Camp, Pet attacking with auto-loot, no Auto heal = No kick
AFK at a mob Camp, Pet attacking, No auto-loot, No Auto heal = Kick after 60mins~ back to character select
AFK at Mob Camp, Pet attacking, no auto-loot, Auto Heal = Kick after 60mins….ect
so it is 100% the auto-loot.
You missed the other huge post on this topic, where they already did make the clear statement. AFK farming is forbidden and will get you suspended if you set your character up specifically to farm, which means putting a skill on autocast, position yourself where you benefit from it and go afk.
You cannot “play Guild Wars2 and be away from the keyboard”. If you are not at your PC, you are not playing the game, the game plays itself. This is not my opinion, it is the ArenaNet policy. Any action your character takes while you are afk means it is automated and against the rules. A bot/third party software is not needed for the term “automated” to apply, putting a skill on autocast is enough and it does not matter at all that putting a skill on autocast is a mechanic provided by the game itself.
The post by Chris Cleary (game security lead) from 4 days ago is here:
https://forum-en.gw2archive.eu/forum/game/gw2/Please-a-clear-statement-re-AFK-farming/6161450
I kinda wonder if the auto cast is what they are flagging on now. I have had a few private conversations about this with GMs and they are STILL not being clear about it.
One question I asked them ‘If I have my character standing idle in a spot that spawns mobs and I have my characters pet on defend and I go away for an unspecified time, what is that considered as far as terms as ’AFK farming’ . And, the response I got back ‘As long as your character is idle (no movement, no skills being activated), you get reported by a player, and you do not respond to a GM then you are considered AFK.’
They would not touch on the term ‘AFK farming’ in that situation. Nor would they respond to my ‘actionable behavior’ question.
So while they ‘may have’ had a meeting with GM’s, the CSR GMs (those are the ones that respond to our Tickets via Email) are still giving me the same run around as before that ‘meeting’.
So in short, do not AFK near Mobs unless you want suspensions. Skills automated or not, Pets active or not. Its just not safe.
There are 0 rules about not being afk in GW2 as a whole, but gaining rewards while AFK is governed under the ‘Botting’ Rules, EVEN if you are using the in game systems to achieve this. You do NOT need to use a 3rd party/External program to get your account sanctioned against.
And Anet needs to fix this so its not a problem with in the game. As far as I am concerned the game is broken with auto-loot resetting AFK timers, Pets getting rangers/necros rewards with out the player being active, and there are no in game warnings about this when you activate said systems as a player. That is the state this whole situation is in.
It’s unrealistic to expect that any software company is ever going to explain the reasons for each change listed in the patch notes (keeping in mind: there are a dozen or more other changes not listed as well).
Your payment of 50 dollars/euros/whatever didn’t grant you unlimited access to the developers — it only grants us unlimited access to the Tyrian universe they’d laid out for us, in the manner that they see fit.
I, too, would prefer that ANet do a better job of communicating what they are changing and why. But that’s a preference. If you only want to play games in which that preference is fulfilled, I recommend getting involved in a startup gaming company and being part of the development.
Its not though. Ever hear of Bugzilla? ANet COULD have one made available to users who care about the whys. But they dont.
that’s all.
You can VR with GW2 to a degree. But unless you have a good enough system that can do SxS 3d the VR aspect is very lacking. The other issue is that GW2 doesnt give perception (leaning, bending over to grab items…ect) so its very much like you are setting at your desk looking at a monitor. You can enable first person and its fun that way, but its not really VR ready.
Thanks for your inputs! Well there isn’t really a lot of MSI computers on the market here and they’re expensive. Only thing I found in such range for a good price is an Asus that’s on sale for 980€. Comes with
Core i7–4720HQ Processor, 2.6 GHz (6M Cache, up to 3.6 GHz)
8 GB DDR3L DRAM, 1TB HDD
NVIDIA GeForce GTX960M 2 GB GDDR5
43,9 cm (17,3") FHD LED (1920×1080) anti glarewhich looks fairly solid to me right? The only thing I’m worried about is overheating. I watched a review on youtube: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zS5L_SmWspg (note that this one is a slightly upgraded version, but still. On the stress test temperatures of the cpu and gpu came up to 87 and 83 degrees celsius, respectively. Sounds kinda hot to me, should I be worried about that? I won’t be running any really demanding new games though.
Stress tests are synthetic tests that your laptop would never normally do. under those tests 85c is absolutely normal. So that means under gaming and normal use your laptop should never get above 75c for max settings and probably 65c if you lock your vsync to 60hz (60FPS).
Not sure where you are or your price point but theres things such as this available for a budget:-
MSI GP Series GP62 Leopard Pro-002 Gaming Laptop 5th Generation Intel Core i7 5700HQ (2.70 GHz) 8 GB Memory 1 TB HDD NVIDIA GeForce GTX 950M 2 GB GDDR3 15.6" Windows 8.1 64-Bit $699.00
thats not a bad find, esp for that price. But the GTX950M is kinda Meh over all. If you are going to buy a laptop for gaming might as well look at the 960m or 970m if you can afford it.
New, you are looking at something like this right now – http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16834152947
Basically a i7-HQ, GTX960M, 1080P LCD and 16GB of ram
the Size of the screen (15" vs 17") SSD vs HDD are going to vary based on location
or if you dont mind getting your hands dirty you can buy used/gray market and rebuild it yourself for about 500.
I am telling people who are buying laptops right now to look at the M4600 and M6600 machines from 2010 (Ebay or Amazon). They use SandyBridge CPUs, can take 32GB of ram, mSATA/mPCIE SSDs…ect. But most important can take Clevo MXM type GPUs.
I just put a GTX970M in my M6600 and got a nice upgrade from the stock HD6870M.
And I can play this game on that machine with all settings maxed and character limit set to Medium or Low (Boss fights) and still get 60FPS.
just something else to consider.
(edited by sirsquishy.2619)
Uhmm alright so first thing’s first, I don’t really need a high-end gaming laptop for all sorts of games, GW2 is pretty much the only thing I play, so that’s why I’m asking on this forum about the purchase.
So if that’s not enough how high would I need to go to get at least medium smooth settings in GW2?
You start with 2 Things.
1. your Budget, what is the max you can/will pay for this
2. what size machine are you willing to accept. 14", 15" 17"…ect
we always start there.

DX12 will do nothing for this game in regards to performance. It will however update the graphics API to take advantage of some of the newer features of DX12.
The game engine is the problem, and the fact that is uses a single control thread to handle all the calls. That is the ONLY bottleneck that ties GW2 to a single core in regards to performance.
Source – https://www.reddit.com/r/Guildwars2/comments/3ajnso/bad_optimalization_in_gw2/csdnn3n
DX12 cannot fix that issue.
Only a Game Engine update can.
AND, for the record here, Anet has already formally said ‘there are no plans to update the game engine to support DX12 or Mantle’ On reddit.
So all this is moot, unless you want to throw money at NCSoft in hopes that they will force Anet to redo the game engine to fix the bottleneck.
But with CPUs being as fast as they are, and the fact you can get 40FPS on a 4790k@4.6ghz running a GTX950 at 2560×1600 during all but 2 boss events, just means they do not need to do anything about the game engine ‘right now’.
cpu ghz as nothing to do with it. let me explain something to you your software is store on hard drive or ssd, the cpu ask for data that comes from the hard drive or ssd. and they are always more slow then the cpu. you can run raid 0 (2 hardrive in parallel simultaneous)ncq (32 stripe per turn of disk) with a 3.6 ghz cpu and it can take it and take even more. but it can’t get more because that is the max data you will get to it. so having more ghz means only that the will do the job faster when it gets to the cpu. the real issue is the over head. since it slow down the data that get to the cpu. because the api needs to slow down that traffic and validate transaction. that is why there is over head in the first place. dx 12 bring multithreading and remove the over head since the gaming devs will do that job before it reach the api and will control the over head to make the game run as good as it can with no issue. right now it is like a bridge call cpu that as more then one lane multithreading but the engine know only to use 1 lane and send all is car on the bridge using only one lane and right after the bridge you have the api traffic cop that slow down the traffic and validate so that no accident happen (overhead) that is why gpu is waiting for those car that will make delivery. if the engine would be multithreaded and the gaming dev would do a good job car could use all lane to cross the bridge and the api cop would not need to validate and make over head or not as often. meaning no traffic stop on the bridge cpu.
I’m sorry I stopped reading there after I saw the wall of text about to crit my FACE for 9,000!
And… you are wrong. The faster the IPC of the CPU the faster GW2 is over all. so Ghz directly relates to performance. With newer CPUs that are just faster due to Process (Sandy to Ivy, to Haswell, to Broadwell, to Skylake) the faster the Clock the faster the instructions on top of it.

If you want a gaming Laptop, then buy a gaming laptop. If you are on a budget, then get a laptop used that has high end parts from 2010-2012 (best bang for your buck, thinking that the quoted Laptop is running you about 550-600?)

Lets not derail this, the issue that this is about is being AFK while your pets + Auto-loot are active. Intentionally = Suspension, but what about unintentionally?
I’d like to think the GMs are savvy enough to know when someone’s doing it intentionally and when someone isn’t; I know as an ex-GM myself in a couple of other games that you’re generally given good guidelines on what is and isn’t acceptable behaviour so even if you don’t play the game yourself, you know what is and isn’t ‘normal’ player behaviour. From what Chris said, they’re generous with how long they give players to respond so I highly doubt most of the bans handed out so far are for people who have gone to the toilet etc. Of course, you always get guilty people who will protest their innocence, sometimes in the face of evidence that shows them not just red-handed, but red all over.
yea sure, But the GM’s in this game are not united across the subjects. Take Gem store reimbursements, I had 2 GM’s deny it, and a 3rd approve it after biting their heads off. Sure, that’s just one small example but its been like that for the last couple of years on pretty much every GM based action in my experience. We have GMs that care and listen to the customers and interact(even if the customer is NOT right), and we have GMs that are quick to do what they want and completely ignore you until you push back (and sometimes harder then you want to).
Until that changes, we cannot trust their judgements so blindly. which is why we need clarification that we can site as a source for when GM’s just ‘feel like it’ on their actions.
Lets not derail this, the issue that this is about is being AFK while your pets + Auto-loot are active. Intentionally = Suspension, but what about unintentionally? I think the Security lead has a nice reply, but he did not clear up ‘Pets are exception’ posts from the other GMs. what does that even mean?
We all know what this affects (economy) and do not need to discuss this beyond what the topic is.
I think anyone who has played the game for anytime (even those that fairly new)can find a safe place on any map so they can hit the washroom and grab a drink.
Sure, but that shouldn’t always have to be the case.
As I said in another thread.
1. Stow All pets (Rangers put them on passive), disable Auto-Loot (incase you are running a build that can kill mobs at the level you are scaled to), and disable any auto cast
That is really the only option the player has right now to be sure they can safely go AFK in the game with out getting the boot from a GM. Just changing location (in PVE combat zones) or moving to a non-pathed area in your farming spot, is not enough as you may enter combat during your AFK session.
and that’s a bit over the top to place on the player.
@sirsqusihy. All being said and done you admitted to AFK farming. I would think that it wasn’t your 1st time engaging in it. Regardless of the message sent by support you were engaged in an activity that many find reprehensible. If it was me in support I would just write back to you and say we sent the the wrong statement, correct it to an AFK’n statement and be done with it. As much as you hate cheaters in the game, others feel the same way about AFK farmers. Both behaviors call into question any statements’ legitimacy from those exhibiting the said ways of play.
Being that as it may, the type of discussion about what was in the suspension notice should go back to being private, between you and support only (imho).
You gotta realize two things about that.
1. there are mixed messages from Anet on the AFK farming stuff right now. We do know that farming while away from the KB is in violation. But what about while doing other tasks in the game. And just a couple hours ago we had a GM say ‘the Character has to be idle’ (not paraphrasing), and what is that supposed to mean?
2. Auto-Loot breaks the AFK mechanic on the game. If you happen to camp/AFk near a place that NPCs attack you and you auto-loot, your AFK timer is reset back to 60mins (it counts down). This might be intended by the player or not (It will affect everyone at some point, that I will promise you) and the Devs need to address this so it doesn’t.
all other points aside.
The issue with my ticket is that it was triggered on a 3rd party program (appearently? I got all 3-4 reasons on the game launcher, but the ticket title only says 3rd party program…so ?!?) and I was not using anything to control any actions inside of GW2 that was not a part of the game systems already. And that is what I want them to clarify on atm.
I am not advocating any automated play styles, nor AFK farming. What I want is clarity on the subject from the GM team that went into the meeting on this subject so we all are on the same page.
But right now the 1 thing we do know, having the game play itself (even with ingame mechanics) while you are physically AFK from the machine is a violation.
we do not know much else in the way of things.
Yea auto on ranger ground heal. But that is not a 3rd party program per my ticket number header option.
I ran gw2 inside vmware workstation10 on win7x86 guests. Thats the ONLY 3rd party program i used
So i need the gm to tell me what i got flagged on so i can pursade them to fix it and i stop doing it so i dont continue to get suspended again.
Having – you used a 3rd party program and are suspended. Have a nice day. – message is not acceptable at this point. I know what i was doing and what software i used. I dont need to know how i got suspended but i need to know a proper why , now. As i thought it was due to afk farming the whole time.
Ah, I see. Thanks for the response.
Yeah, I think that’s the issue, the auto-cast usage, but once you started speaking VMware etc, that went over my head. I can barely handle a reformat.
I do understand your desire for clarity though.
yup, I know and i get that a lot.
My issue is that I was using VMware (Virtual platform) to run 2 Win7 virtual machines (think of that as 2 windows machines for all intents and purposes) in side by side mode (much like having 2 monitors, desktops, keyboards/mouse next to each other, this falls under the dual boxing policy), and inside of those virtual machines that are running windows 7 I had GW2 loaded and running.
The GW2 setup is as follows
ranger with whatever pet (i like birds), privateer runes (#6 is an auto pet on hit)
Auto cast the heal (I used the one that is a ground effect, name escapes me)
Auto-Loot enabled in the game options (mastery function)
that’s it, that’s my setup and all I was doing. I was sometimes at the keyboard, and sometimes not, other times I would VNC into my physical desktop to interact with the 2 virtual desktops (VMs).
So if there was any breach of 3rd party application, it would have been VMware’s Workstation, which would be completely absurd as its nothing more then a way to run more operating systems inside of your main operating system, which allows for application isolation and such, and Anet has 0 way to detect VMware other then by the drivers that are installed in the system (VMware SVGA driver for the virtual video card).
Which is why I am so frustrated with all of this. I was AFK farming, I will admit that wholeheartedly and I will take the suspension based on that. But to say I was using a 3rd party program to gain an advantage over other players? No. Sorry but no. I hate those types of users (Cheaters) and I report them every time I see them (Remember Flying mesmers in WvW?!, or players attacking/Mining under ground?!)
Auto loot doesn’t let your characters to afk out of the game. That is why
Sirsquishy; your case has nothing to do with the afk pet issue. So; thus far I have seen no accounts suspended for taking advantage of this design feature.
it has to, as that is what I was doing. I did not use any 3rd party programs.
But did you use an auto-cast? Maybe with the GS 4 skill if using a Reaper?
That’s the one I commonly see used with Reapers.
