Lightning flash can be casted to get on higher places. (WvW Boarderlands from the bridge to the platform in the south: the little island starting from the westtower.
These are places, where the Thiefs or Gurdians teleport should also been working.
But the main problem ist that if it doesnt work ( 95% of the time) the cooldown will be set. It should be fixed, that if LF doesnt move your position, the cooldown should not be on use.

I think the Elementalist is a balanced class.
Moderate damage at hybrid builds and a moderate defence.
High damage as spiker - but a very difficult playstile to hit your opponent and time management to hit the skills in the right moment. But after a damage combo all help abilitiys are on cooldown and 3 attunements are used. So no chance to escape.
A full defence Staff or Focus ele does so less damage that it wouldnt be a thread to other players.
I think its fine at all.
First they should fix bugs and look at other classes. In my oppinion the high burst options should get a higher risk.
So high range damage from a melee class with heavy armor and big lifepool is not fitting.
High dps classes for range or melee should have low armor and low hp
Heavy Armor classes should be supporting and do moderate damage
Rangers should also low armor and low hp because of there range.
Thats like it is in all other games.
The problem is that every class can do all jobs.
They all can be players als : Support, damage,condition or defence.
the problem is that the equipment and base stats are not equal for all.
mesmer vs ele is a hard fight. I played some 1on1 vs a high dps Mesmer in the Open WvW.
The key for the Mesmer to win will be the Elite + Stun. When you get the Bird and cant do anything your mostly dead.
Also without that its hard to catch the Memser and stand or avoid the damage.
but this way to play ist not realy possible in wvw and very hard in the spvp
Could be a very hard to play and weak damage build like all others said. It also could be a player that just uses some utilitys that where not allowed to use in the game if you know what i mean. But you will pusnished for mention that theme here in the forum ;P

Also a Critical hit should make 150% Damge + crit damage so going or that bothe is more effektive that using pure power.
I Run at 80% crit with fury and maintaince oil. There will be plenty procs =)
mhm 30 % crit rate doesnt sound that bad.
Think of using scepter (air 1) or d/d fire 1 or even aoe in the masses. That will cause a lot of Burning.
Iam running a Crit + lifesteal build and that bringst me an kitten full of liferegeneration. Procing all the time. About 1k hp per second.
Also Vigor stacks up over 1min when iam in fight. So no need to change this.
And how should you report a player? There will be some issues:
You can only report someone that is still in your target!
You cant discribe whats the problem
You dont see the name.
5 Elementalists are giving a good Team ;P
maybe your right mybe iam right too. I know what is possible with your own abilitys to stack might and a high crit/crit damge and what will be possible with even better gear that will be implemented.
So iam not shure if its good to be able to build the mono stat classes.
I just stay that a cap for stats would slow the the game a bit and would bring some more tactical and coordinated gameplay.

If you dont hit that hard with Kill shot and Volley you do something wrong.
You also can do incredeble burst as Thief or any other Profession.
So why not a stats cap ?

I dont want to talk about Darwin or the tears that will roll when you think of your class.
Try out a Rifle spec. And you will 1 hit nearly every one if your skill hits the target.
Your missunderstanding it.
Id say 5000 attack power not 5000 damage. If i go on burst damage like i can in Spvp and add even more attack power and crit i can kill 5 people instandly with a good combo that can only be avoided by stability + dodge.
But in the wvw you dont see that coming and cant reakt that fast.
Also a Warrior shooting with pircing shot through more than 1 play by using f1 oder killshot.
With the gear now availible, its possible to get even more than 4500 attack and high crit/crithit rates. That will almost kill everyone by a singel hit.
I dont want to penalize them for my own efford. I was just wondering if that should be possible to 1 hit other players and whether a damage race would be good for the gameplay.
We all know that there will be more gear and better ones so in the future we will see players with more than 5000 attack that cant be counterd with toughnes and armor.
This matter can outbalance the game and will lead to a first strike first win option.
Imagine 3 aoe full bBurst classes entering a very big group in the WvW dealing 25k damage on 5 targets each within 1,5 seconds.

what about soft caps and hardcaps for the wvw?
We all want balanced, interesting and longt fights i hope. So i think we should stop the high Burst potentional.
So for example there are possibilitys to get 4500 attack without your team members stacking might. Just by its own and without stacking combos.
For example the Warrior and the Killshot, f1 shot or other attacks. Same with other professions.
So why should it be possible to 1 hit kill other players?
I think a more balanced stat combination will make fights more interesting than a pure damage race. So you have to combine skills and put him into cooldowns to set your damage or use other tricks to win.....
The idear of the caps ist to cut mono stat builds.
For example at a point of 3300 any further stat in power will provide only half the attack power and at a point of 3700 grants no further power. (including might)
Same with all other stats.
What do you think about that idear? Would i make a tank build more efficient? Will it bring more opportunities in gameplay?

My question ist, why should the Thief have a diffrent system than all other classes ?
I know many thief players would say the class cant exist without it. But lets discuss that issue.
In my oppinion the ini System should be changed to give all classes the same issue with managing cooldowns. In fact it will brake many players neck if they cant press 4 times the same skill just to do burst damage. But we all know that this is not the only way to play a thief and its not very trickery or clever played method. I think there are other good options like sword/dagger and so on. Of course everything will be diffrent an there will be other thinks to change with it.
So lets talk about it who can imagine that and what would have to be diffrend in skill, traits and of course playstyle.

are you albe to get damage or cc while in rtl ? I remember getting damage or a backpull by necromancer mobs in the 80 zones or wvw.

I get very high crit 79% with (5%in my wepon + Fury)
Fury ist stackable ot be run unlimited with constant switching and the two auras.
I got 44% Crit damage
14k health and about 2,7k attack and 2,7k defence.
0 -10 -0- 30 -30
with 360 healing power
I think this as a good balanced setup. However your argumentation seems to be right but you need some mathematics to finde the crossing point between the stats:
Health vs. income Damage/s
Defence vs income Damage/s
healing power vs. Income Damage/s
Health vs. Damage*reaction time of the player ( to puffer opening burst damage)
Income Damage vs Outgoing Damage
Attack power vs. Crit Damage * Cirt chance
Iam not quite shure if that would be enough. The stat balance also depend on you playstyle.
Do you want to get a quick kill or do you want to stay longer in order to give morderate Damage over a longer time. Do you use Crit Triggerd abilitys ?
I use a some more triggert abilitys so i need my Crit Built.
My intentions that i bring with from playing other mmos ist that defence ist more effektiv than attack power.
To refer to your argumentation it would be the easiest way to just keep all main stats the same ;P

i can do everything with the knight set and a def trait. combined with ruby orbs complete.

i dont understand what you mean with TA gear.
Prec vit cd seems to be the worse combination for an elementalist.
You cant heal that big amount of healf with your tiny heals.
Without power your Crit does realy low damage.
Also your damage come from conditions not form burst and conditions cant crit.
If you realy go for condition damage i would play defenitly an asura with pain inverter.
Also with conditions you dont realy need power. So you can invest in healingpower or vitality.

Smale targets are harder to pick in a big fight.
The movement of an Asura feels more fluent as with a Char or Norn.
The Animations are Harder to identifi by your opponents.
You can better hide (the writing/name is naerer to the ground)
the normal ress is ok. That needs many players or a long time.
But the Rally is the real bad issue.
Just as dee Jay said. The ress process of a downed player should be easier to interrupt.
It would be better if they go directly down without rally and downstate. So that the ress needs some time.
I would prefer Toughnis + precision + power
So you get Crits, attack and defence. You dont need good heals because you have low life that can be easyly recoverd
its ok fpr pve but that is nothing that belongs to the WvW zone
As many said before this game favours the lowskilled players unless they are more player.
Its more effektiv to play stupid classes where you just need to press button 1 and 2 than complex ones that need a lot of timing and movement just to make at least the same damage.
And the think that realy pi****s me off it the rally and the downstate.
If you play in a smale group of skilled players agains a bigger group of stupid players, you always end up dieing of fleeing.
Thats all because of:
1. the abilitys in the downstate to prevent stomping
2. The Quick ress from the others
3.the rally if just 1 died.
If you play in a smale group you dont have the time to stomp your targets even when they need 3 attemts to do thaty or if you have to use CD abilitys.
If than just 1 died the rest of the downed players will instandly be alive again. That cant be.
eles still can be rooted when in vapor or mist form. So you can hold him in place and kill him when the time is over.
Hello Guys, iam thinking off an effektiv def/condition damage build für my elementalist.
I have testet some in the mists, but i think you cant reach the values from the pvp zone. Help me yout with your impressions from the wvw and spvp.
My intent is that:
20 Earth
20 Water
30 Arcane
In the mists i can get >1100 condition damage
and >3000 armor
When you use scepter you can reach >3400 armor with the rock barrier.
Can you transfer that to the wvw or what kind of Tactic do you use there.
Sorry guys misses that this is the english forum. That was supposed to be written in the german one.
But i can explain it in eglish too. It is not that they were inside before. The tower was ours for a long time and i saw him bugging through the gate. There was also no thief. I just mentioned that a thief can do that too. ( i have proven it my self or discovered it and reportet ed few weeks ago). The full zerg of players moving threw the portal and took the Tower. That is Bugusing at its best.

Leider habe ich den Mesmer nicht rechtzeitig ins Target bekommen um diesen zu melden.
Gerade auf den Ewigen erlebt:
Mesmer bugt sich durch Tor legt ein portal und der ganze zerg geht in den Turm und nimmt diesen ein!!
Als wenns es nicht schon reicht das die Diebe sich durchs Tor buggen können.

Does ist have an internal cooldown that is hidden/ not shown in the tooltip?

wasd movement
q+e = Strafe left/right ( i know i dont need them but its a relic from other games marked in my head also i have enough other keys)
space = jump
shift = dodge
r+c = help skills
alt = pickup
Logitech mx laser:
Daumen 1-3 = skill 1-3
Middel 1 and 2 = help skills
Mouswheel right push = skill 4
Mouswheel left push = skill 5

yeah seems like that. its not easy to test because of the smale cooldown of 2 sec on vampire.
so when i get energy i cant have my lifesteal for 10 seconds. =( thats hard.
Whats with the 5% crit sigle ? does that one work ? with the vampire

Iam playing an d/d elementalist based on survivability and Crit. So i use a Vampire (life steal) sigle and an Energy ( 50% energy refill ons swap).
The vampire has 2 sec cooldown
the Energy has 9 seconds.
Do they interrupt ?
I go into battle wi 72-80 % crit based on my traits. That means it will constantly use the lifesteal every 2 seconds.
If i now swap the weapon and the vampire is in cooldown (2s), will i get the 50% energy?
If i successfully swaped the weapon with energy refill, will i get lifesteal on the next cirt ?
Hope you can help me out with that issue

On Earth its the wrong Skill that will be casted.
It should be “Churning Earth” but it is “Shockwave”
The Animation is Correct but the skill doesn’t.
Shockwave is normaly a singeltarget skill but it is used as aoe with a realy short range on dodge.
Second bug is the missing annimation on Water.
