About Illusionary leap, even better: look at the buffs. When the mesmers casts illusionary leap, you’ll see a buff with a boot as image in his buff bar. To me it’s easier than seeing the illusion.
I like that, thanks!

Tested earlier and 2 sigils of paralyzation do stack making Shield Bash and Skull Crack last a whole extra second
I believe stuns get rounded up so if a stun is 3.45 it will last 4 seconds. I remember reading that somewhere, I could be wrong.
www.youtube.com/stefanplc
I didn’t read what others wrote but here’s some info based from my experience as mace/shield & GS. In WvW it’s much easier to fight a mesmer simply because you can reset fights over and over again and you also do way more damage since you can stack so much crit damage. In WvW you only need to catch the mesmer in 1-2 consecutive mace stuns and it’s over. If you miss one, you can simply just run away and have whatever CDs your missing back and then engage the mesmer again.
In sPvP it’s a different story. You will not be able to beat a defensive condition mesmer, he will simply be able to outlast you if he’s pretty good. Other mesmers that don’t play defensive builds and focus more on being offensive are still difficult but you can win if you pay attention. I played almost entirely on this 1v1 server for the past few weeks and actually defensive condition mesmers got banned there because they seemed so OP in 1v1s. They also don’t allow bunker builds so it makes sense.
So how do you beat the rest of the mesmers? Well it simply comes down to who lands more bursts, you or him.
The first main source of their damage are their Phantasms and if you manage to avoid even the first attack from each Phantasm they summon you’ll be in a pretty good spot. If you pick up the “reflective missiles” trait and you reflect all the shots from the Pistol Phantasm it will almost kill itself. I found it worth it to simply go and hit it one more time and kill it since it’s on a 20 sec CD. Generally speaking, the moment you see a new Phantasm spawn about a second later it will use its attack. I also really hate the GS Phantasm because it cripples you so the more you’re able to avoid that one the better.
The second source of their damage is their main hand sword burst where you get immobilized and they used Blurred Frenzy. Often and usually during their first Blurred Frenzy they also like to Shatter you. You can avoid this burst simply by paying attention and notice the “Illusionary Leap” attack which is easy to spot because it’s an Illusion that runs really fast at you. If you manage to dodge it, great! If not, get ready for Shield Stance or Ignore Pain. If you’re out of those, it’s also worth it to use Lyssa Runes and pop your elite to gain protection and drop the immobilize.
Good mesmers will use their Dazing Shatter and Invulnerability Shatter during your attempts to hit them with 100B. It’s worth using some stability there or when they drop Chaos Storm.
That’s all the help I can give you really and like I said it comes down to who lands more bursts so as long as you use your blocks, immunities and dodges wisely with a little luck you’ll be able to win. You have to try way harder than the mesmer does, that’s for sure, but you can win if you play well. Good luck!

I used to play a shouts healing, mace/shield hammer Warrior in Dungeons when the game just came out, during the first few months. I LOVED that build because I was able to help and carry other players that were bad. I would heal everyone in my party, if things got rough I could stun mobs for a while, faster reviving and so forth. I only did Arah (4/5 paths) and switching to this build is what helped me get through it better instead of constantly failing with my group which was always a bunch of randoms. I was also able to solo some of those bosses for a while (1-2 minutes) which was great when people could just run back when they were dead.
It took a few weeks but I got my full Arah set as a mace/shield hammer Warrior and it was pretty fun.
Bottom line in my opinion is to use a defensive build such as the one I used if you’re playing with people that aren’t very experienced or when going to a new dungeon. Once people start getting the hang of things, you can just swap to a more DPS oriented build.
www.youtube.com/stefanplc
Mesms and Necros that play durable builds such as Phantasm / MM will be your hardest games. Vs Condition Necros that use fear spam if you use a lot of stability and Berserker Stance you’ll be alright. With Berserker Stance, Balanced Stance as a trait and Utility and one other stun breaker you should be able to take one down. Picking up Runes of Lyssa is also a huge help.

This is a montage of random 1v1s (extra footage) from WvW:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Wq1JmiOaPiQ
While the footage was when I first started playing this build and I was making way more mistakes than I do now (and the warrior has a much easier time in WvW than sPvP) it might be of some help.
If you want to improve your 1v1 simply play the professions you’re having a tough time versus and learn their abilities and strategies. In sPvP as a warrior on 1v1 servers I’m doing really well vs most opponents with the exception of a few OP 1v1 builds played by some really good players. If I was to exclude those losses I would say I’m having an 80%+ win ratio.
So in other words practice, learn when to use and how not to waste your immunity abilities/blocks and gap closers, learn how not to miss your bursts and as long as you put the effort in it, you’ll be able to do pretty well!
www.youtube.com/stefanplc
It’s a huge help when fighting Necros, Mesmers, Eles and Engineers which right now are at the top of the food chain.
www.youtube.com/stefanplc
When Rush connects, it’s great, sadly it misses a lot for me. Sometimes the pathing is so strange it almost makes me laugh. I wish it was a little faster and had a 1 sec daze at the end. Warrior could really use another gap closer utility. I think changing Stomp into a ground targeted aoe would really help us. Think Heroic Leap from WoW. I’d take Swoop or Guardians leap over Rush any day.
Stomp like Heroic Leap would be AMAZING
www.youtube.com/stefanplc
This skill is how you beat Condition / Fear Spam Necromancers and how you increase your chances vs Mesmers which are still over the top. On this 1v1 server that I play on, when any of the people that play Mesmer well enough jump in, it just kills the whole mood because they can’t loose to anything other than a good Mesmer or a really good Necromancer. It’s really dumb. In any case, this is a must have utility skill.
www.youtube.com/stefanplc
I’ve seen this suggested somewhere by a fellow warrior among other things I just can’t remember where. In any case, I thought this suggestion was brilliant. How great would it be if Rush just worked like Ranger’s GS Swoop (#3). The mechanic and design is already there, they would just need to update it so the warrior can use it too instead of this dumb Rush ability that works half the time due to longer travel time.
www.youtube.com/stefanplc
I know this game isn’t balanced around 1v1s, but when you see 2 professions just completely destroy everyone else, you know they need to toned down a little. I’m talking about Fear Spam Condition Necros and Mesmers in general (I’m sure not all builds). I’ve been playing almost entirely on 1v1 servers recently and these 2 professions in the hands of some really skilled players just demolish all other players.
As a comparison take a look at Eles and Engineers. These 2 professions are also very strong and do very well but vs them you DO have a chance at winning. Vs Necros you might win if they’re using a power build and vs Mesmers if they’re bad. Even bad Necros and Mesmers which you can spot since they’re terrible at dodging pose a serious threat.
Again, I know the game can’t be balanced around 1v1 but I would like to see these 2 professions brought down to the level of Engineers and Eles, professions that in the hands of skilled players are fantastic but not impossible to beat.
I play a Warrior as my main but also an Ele, Thief and Engineer. My perspective is not just from my own personal experience but also from seeing other people duel on these servers.
www.youtube.com/stefanplc
You often need to use Shield Block very early… it would sort of make you a sitting duck until you gain some Adrenaline.. if there was a way around this without forcing me to replace my utilities it would be cool.. or if this was just an additional F2 skill that warriors can use.. some immunity similar to how Mesmers can get that invulnerability
www.youtube.com/stefanplc
Maybe I just have a different play style but a mesmer or a thief that bursts you for about half of your HP early in the game (unless you manage to avoid it) really puts you into a defensive play style which makes you loose your momentum and leaves you at a disadvantage. The way I see it, when you’re at 25% you’re already starting to think defensive and at ways to avoid dieing, how to kite, block etc… and not focusing on doing damage so you’re not really loosing any momentum. Where if Defy Pain was to proc at 75% and these professions kind of gave it their best to burst you down but it didn’t work that well because of it, you’re able to keep going being offensive, gaining an advantage and a better chance at winning since they’ll shortly be placed on the defensive.
www.youtube.com/stefanplc
This is a build I experimented with before and it’s pretty interesting. You use GS / Rifle with Bull’s Rush, Bolas and Ignore Pain. I don’t recall the exact traits but it had Leg Specialist in it and then just Rifle/GS damage/CD traits. You also want 20 points in Discipline for Mobile Strikes.
The idea behind the build and why I liked it was that you tried to play the role that put your opponent in a tough spot. So lets say you were facing a melee thief or a D/D Ele or a Guardian, you would try and use your build to play from range as much as you can and do damage with your rifle. When they got close to you, you can Bull’s Charge into 100B and then WW through them, rush away and get back to your rifle.
At the same time, if you meet a profession that wants to play from range, you make up for the damage loss when you’re not in melee by doing damage with your rifle, while trying to catch up to them.
With Leg Specialist you’re able to always land your Bolas and Bull’s Rush. It’s a 1v1 build as I’m sure you’re able to tell, but it’s a pretty fun and creative one.
Hope this helps, good luck!
That sounds solid but can any one else vouch for it?
Just try it out yourself but just like with any other warrior build, you need to know your opponent’s profession fairly well in order to win. The gear I used was mostly Berserker btw.

Wouldn’t Defy Pain be much, much more useful if it procced at say 75% instead of 25% HP? When you’re at 25% HP and often you’re at less than that, you’re already trying to dodge as well as you can since you’re almost dead, swap to your shield, run away etc… Defy Pain doesn’t really help you that much, it only eats a few hits for you at best. If it was to proc at 75% it could act as a great counter for those professions that can spike your HP really quick from the start (such as thieves or mesmers) and it would allow you to keep being offensive instead of having to run away.
Just an idea, any thoughts?
www.youtube.com/stefanplc
You didn’t find many mesmers in the server I call the Mesmer Club? Lucky one! I’m jealous .-.
XD
Haha, very true! I am getting better at beating them though, so hopefully soon enough it won’t be that big of a deal. The shouts 0/10/30/30/0 build does pretty good against them, at least the warrior that played it did.
www.youtube.com/stefanplc
Yeah i am, he is handsome as hell!
I agree.
www.youtube.com/stefanplc
Just curious but I notice that you sometimes don’t use Signet of Rage during your fights, if not using it in the middle, occasionally ending fights without it at all. Any reason or just prefer to use it when you need? cause Most generally use near the beginning to get a strong opening.
I was thinking about swapping to Runes of Lyssa for a while as an extra condition removal is always great. I did swap to them in sPvP and it was a great choice I just didn’t have the gold yet to do it in WvW. In some of the WvW fights I didn’t use Signet of Rage because I wanted to see how the build would perform without it. I was just testing the waters and also feeling pretty confident that I didn’t need it.
But yeah, in the future I’ll be using Runes of Lyssa and that means that I’ll use my Signet of Rage either as a condition removal or to try and counter some CC/Burst coming my way since you also get Stability and Aegis.
www.youtube.com/stefanplc
- well that looks awesome build that makes me start a new warrior ^^
whats your recommendation during leveling to 50 for example
what weapons should I use before getting all the required trait for the build
- can i use this one for PVE ?
I wish I could help you but I haven’t really done any PvE content in a while and especially on my warrior. As far as I remember Rifle/GS is great for leveling and I believe using the signet for your heals is a pretty good choice. Maybe someone else can help you more, I’ve been focusing on PvP only.
www.youtube.com/stefanplc
I prefer 0 30 20 0 20, it generates adrenile waaaay waaay faster, esp if you swap in longbow (each F1 on a keep defense refills adrenaline bar to full on its own)
I started trying this out and I really like it. One of my main issues was getting adrenaline in the beginning of a fight and this really speeds up things. At the end of 100b I’m already full too which is great. This variation of the build helps you lock someone down really really fast early on. You can pretty much go Skull Crack > 100B > Daze > Shield Bash > Skull Crack or some variation of it.
I’ve also swapped my GS sigil to add bleeds on weapon swaps. This way I have a guaranteed 10% dmg increase on my 100B.

I just wanted to post an update as I was really surprised and happy with this:
In EU there’s a 1v1 server called “1v1 King of the Hill – win and continue” and it pretty much means just that. You do 1 game and if you win you stay and the loser goes and spectates. I’ve been playing on this server more than the other 1v1 servers because I noticed the players there are better. I was running 0/20/20/0/30 with Soldier’s Amulet and Berserker Jewel for a while and doing ok. After I saw a shout build warrior with the same weapons 0/10/30/30/0 doing pretty well I decided to try the same Amulet he was using which is Valkyrie with Berserker Jewel but continue with my build.
The server reset and I was able to join straight from the first fight and I won 20 in a row until the server reset again (50 points is the max), making me pretty much King of the Hill. I was pretty fortunate that I didn’t meet a lot of Mesmers and Necromancers which I don’t do very well against, I have a win ratio of around ~50% (I only met around 2-3 of each). The fights were generally pretty close, I didn’t just smash people into the ground, some went better and some worse but I won them all. Several of them, particularly against a DPS Guardian I was forced to keep kiting with Rush and whirlwind until I was able to burst him down and after repeating this a few times he ran out of defensive CDs. I played vs Thieves, Engineers, Guardians, Warriors, Eles, Mesm and Necros.
Anyways, bottom line and what I wanted to get to is that this build works pretty well and using the Valkyrie Amulet made a big difference for me. I’m sure if some of the really good players that play there constantly would have showed up I might not have been able to achieve this, but regardless, it made me really happy. Good luck to everyone else!
www.youtube.com/stefanplc
I would simply just like more short blocks (similar to Aegis) that make the warrior play style more skilled, in the sense that if you block at the right time then you gain a big advantage.
www.youtube.com/stefanplc
It really depends on your build. The recently popular mace/shield – GS is pretty entertaining because you have a lot of tools to counter your opponent so it keeps you plugged in constantly. If you’re quick, constantly paying attention, if you’re able to read your opponent then it’s a really rewarding play style. Other builds though with other weapon sets, and particularly the pure damage weapon sets do tend to get pretty boring.
www.youtube.com/stefanplc
it’s not bad but it’s dependent on your reaction time and you being able to read your opponents… you’re not a meat tank that can just take damage, you’ll die pretty often that way.. instead you have blocks and immunity abilities that allow you to survive bursts if you use them at the right time… the warrior is a pretty high skill cap profession in the sense that you really have to know all the other professions to do well and even then your’e not as good as someone of equal skill playing a different profession… it’s not terrible though and very rewarding once you get the hang of it… you have to work for your victories and it feels great when you score one
www.youtube.com/stefanplc
lol I wasn’t trying to imply I came up with it, a variation of this was played even at launch by a warrior from Team Paradigm I believe… but before it was a 1-trick build where you either won with Frenzy or you just lost.. now you have the opportunity to run your burst over and over again as long as you can survive.. I just thought it’s funny how much drama there was initially and how now, just a week later a lot of people are playing it successfully and it’s become quite popular
www.youtube.com/stefanplc
I’ve been doing sPvP every day so far, mostly on 1v1 servers but some hot joins too and every warrior is using some variation of this build even though initially some people didn’t really “appreciate it” to say so. It’s not quite at the level of engineers/necros/mesmers who in my opinion are at the top of the food chain but you have a pretty decent fighting chance. The more you practice though, the better it gets.
www.youtube.com/stefanplc
Ran it tonight, did Lyssa and the 5% Sigil for GS instead. Worked very well, hardly noticed the damage drop and the extra full cleanse is awesome.
Just wait until you try it in WvW, it’s so much stronger since you can get a lot of crit damage.
www.youtube.com/stefanplc
https://forum-en.gw2archive.eu/forum/professions/warrior/2-Videos-Matale-8-WvWvW-1vX-and-Duels
This is what I use and how I play it. I’ve changed it recently to Runes of Lyssa and Superior Sigil of Impact on the GS (+10% dmg vs stunned players which is when you score your kills).
I don’t think Frenzy is too important since with Sigil of Paralyzation your skull crack lasts 3.45 seconds which is the duration of a full 100B.
www.youtube.com/stefanplc
Just wanted to post another update on this: For the past 2-3 days I’ve been playing 5-10 duels each day on those dueling servers in sPvP and it’s been going pretty well, winning over 60-70% of them and the ones I do lose, I know where I could have improved. So while it’s not a walk in the park and you do have to be able to predict your opponent and know the profession you’re playing against, it does look pretty promising.
I kind of like how the warrior profession is generally known, or was known as the low skill cap profession and now you have to know way more than you do on other professions in order to be on par with them.
It’s still easier to do more with less effort playing other professions but at least now, for those players like myself that really like the warrior there’s some hope.
www.youtube.com/stefanplc
I would rather just have it as an F2 though to bring a bit more complexity to the warrior profession and without having to pigeon hole warriors into certain trait lines. Right now we really have just a low amount of skills to use.
www.youtube.com/stefanplc
could also be – put weapon skills on cd… so they’ll be forced to swap, weapons.
I like that even better!
www.youtube.com/stefanplc
Silly reply – I want Headbutt… “Grab your target and headbutt them 3 times +1 stack of confusion per hit” :P
Haha, that actually sounds pretty coo!
I don’t think additional utility spells are what we need though. Even right now, a lot of them aren’t used because they’re more like “fun abilities” rather than useful ones. Warrior needs survival utility skills to stay alive which we have right now to some extent.
www.youtube.com/stefanplc
This is just an idea that crossed my mind, haven’t put a lot of thinking into its mechanics but I figured it would be a natural thing that warriors should be able to disarm their target in a similar way that Thieves can Steal. It would be an additional F2 skill that could disarm the opponent of all their weapons for a short time / short CD or longer time / long CD. It would be a pretty unique spell only available to the warrior profession.
How this would work exactly could be pretty creative and here are just a few random thoughts:
- you disarm your opponents weapon set for 5 seconds and you can use those particular skills for that duration
- you simply add + 5-10 seconds to your opponent’s weapon swap CD
- your opponent can’t use their weapon skills for X seconds
- your opponents switches back to their last weapon set / kit and they can’t swap out of it for the next 5-10 seconds
etc…
Like I said, this could be done in a bunch of different ways. Thoughts?
www.youtube.com/stefanplc
Been using the build in PVP with Soldier amulet w/ Zerker jewel and Bull’s Charge swapped out for Sig of Stamina due to Necro spam and its absolutely awesome. I run 5% crit sigil on the GS right now to get my base to 22% when on GS. Been dueling some guildies and a few of them are pretty determined to try to beat me now. They aren’t used to Warrior’s winning the duels, my Engi is one thing but not a Warrior lol
Highest 100b so far was on a Necro just out of DS, Skull Cracked into 15k 100b. Think a Ranger must have Hunter’s Shot or something for some big vuln stacks, was hilarious.
Try Superior Runes of Lyssa (drop all conditions gain all boons), they’re great vs professions that are big on conditions such as Engineers and Necromancers and the damage loss isn’t that big. If you’re playing in WvWvW make sure to use Superior Sigil of Impact on your GS! I’ve been practicing myself on dueling servers in sPvP and it does pretty well. I haven’t been able to win every fight but I think it’s mostly because I’ve made some mistakes. Overall though, it feels pretty strong.
This build also works much better in WvWvW than sPvP because you can get more damage there since you can change your stats however you want them but it’s still pretty strong in sPvP. I really like it too!
www.youtube.com/stefanplc
(I’m Matale btw) – this build works pretty well in sPvP too. I tried it out today just a bit in one of those dueling servers and it went pretty well. I also tried it out before going into WvWvW by playing a few hot join games (I didn’t want to buy all the gear with the new stats without testing it first). I liked it well enough to spend all my 3 dragon bash tickets on my warrior instead of other characters.
I don’t really have any issues with being kited atm however I do plan on switching my sigil on the GS to the one with + dmg vs stunned foes and my runes to the ones where you drop all your conditions and gain all boons.
Knowing other professions is a huge benefit if you’re trying to play this build. Using your blocks and immunity abilities properly makes a huge difference.
www.youtube.com/stefanplc
what sigil on GS? i hope you use Sigil of impact on your GS.
+10% damage vs stunned or knockdown foes
I’m not sure how I missed that, excellent idea, many thanks for the suggestion! This will allow me to switch my runes to the ones where I drop all conditions and gain all buffs when I use an elite without loosing any damage.
www.youtube.com/stefanplc
What Xll said about Stefanplc’s video were valid points. I Just see he was aggressive about it and Stefan does not take well to criticism.
It’s not that I don’t take well criticism it’s just that he was really exaggerating through imaginary scenarios for the sake of the argument. If his comments were more down to earth and constructive it would have been a different story.
Ex: “Cleansing Ire is a joke because you need to land the burst. Have fun doing that with a blind on you and someone kiting you with chill -yea..mobile strikes doesn’t remove chill” or Ex: “-You can’t land cleansing ire using your mace burst if you are being kited with chill and /or blinded.. I fail to see your point since you have no way to fight off chill.”
- As if Chill lasts forever and that’s it, once it’s on me I’ll never be able to remove it since it’s such a spammable slow… I do have a heal that removes conditions and Shield Bash / Bull Rush as gap closers. Chill usually lasts around 2-3 seconds anyways (Ex: Freeze Grenade, Frozen Burst etc…) When I’m being kited I also have 2 blocks which reflect that I can use, I’m not just a sitting duck. Many professions that can slow you down also need to get in melee range to be productive such as Thieves, D/D Eles and so forth. As far as Blind goes it’s just like Aegis, make sure it’s not there when you use an important ability and if it’s there, waste it with an auto attack.
I do agree that mobility is an issue as mace/shield and blind very much like stability or aegis is something you need to check for constantly but it’s not a hard counter that just shuts you down. You have to work a little bit and play well in order to be successful but it’s not impossible. Easy mode is not a characteristic of the warrior profession but when you manage to overcome all the difficulties and win, it’s much more rewarding.
www.youtube.com/stefanplc
Just play against necros.
And you’ll be REALLY feared.
BA-DUM TSSSS!
LOL
www.youtube.com/stefanplc
I will say, the OP’s build looks effective but it’s not easy to learn to use. Need to be able to read the enemy well and I’m not doing so well at that.
Learning when to use your defensive abilities and to always look out for the stability buff will help you out a lot. I used to just pop my mace block or shield block without actually blocking anything important. Also, most of your damage happens during the stun > 100B so playing defensive for a few seconds after it will help you improve too.
As an example, when you fight a D/D ele, just run away or kite a little bit when your mace stun is on CD. He needs to be really close to you to do damage so as soon as you’re able to stun him again, just go back in. If you try to keep doing damage to him while waiting for the stun CD, he’ll be able to do more than you and gain the advantage.
Like I said before, when I looked at my initial footage 4 days later I realized how much I was able to improve by practicing and thinking things through after each fight, victory or loss.
www.youtube.com/stefanplc
I was really hoping this would be great news for many as it was for me. After taking a break from my warrior I tried to come back to it every 1-2 months but I just wasn’t able to find a build that gave me a fighting chance vs most professions and that at the same time wasn’t just a “spam damage build”. The reason I went to other professions was because they weren’t so 1-dimensional and I felt like I could do much more with the tools they had. I’ve always wanted to come back and play a warrior because I liked the whole idea behind the profession but I just couldn’t get it to work.
This latest patch, even though it didn’t make the warrior anywhere close to perfect, it opened up a great build that not only does it offer quite a bit of damage and defense, it also offers you the tools which allow you to control a fight and a have lot of mobility.
Obviously some people are really frustrated with the profession and are not fans of the build I’m using but me, personally, I’m really happy to finally play my warrior again with a build that I find both fun and strong, a build that makes me confident in my warrior on the battlefield. Best of luck to those less fortunate!
www.youtube.com/stefanplc
Hinting that the warrior community is exaggerating about the warrior state does not help your case. We were just voted the worst class again..apparently you know something that everyone else does not.
I didn’t say the warrior community is exaggerating, I said that the warrior community is complaining about “sustainability” left and right and that this build addresses that issue to some extent. The build doesn’t make you a tank that can just soak up damage, it helps by giving you the tools to be both defensive and offensive when needed. It gives you a solid fighting chance vs most people that you’ll face so that at least you can do something and not die without having much to say. This is clearly shown in the videos.
www.youtube.com/stefanplc
The amount of negativity just blows my mind away lol.
- When I stopped playing my warrior roughly 3 months after the game came out, I didn’t stop playing the game, I played a Thief and did the same thing on him, published a video montage of 1vX, played a Mesmer, Elementalist and Engineer so my PvP knowledge stayed up to date and improved by playing other characters.
- These 2 videos simply show a build that works very well in WvWvW. It is a sustainable build if you play it right, you have the opportunity to do well vs anything you meet (even multiple opponents) and the means to escape danger if needed. It’s a build that offers you tools for most situations, a build where you can control the fight and you’re not just a DPS machine. I’ve showed all of this in the 2 videos so at least I can back up my claims and I don’t have to build imaginary scenarios for the sake of the argument.
If you don’t like it and it doesn’t fit your style then too bad, move on. As far as I’m concerned, I’m going to keep doing great with it in WvWvW and I invited others that are open to change to try it out.
www.youtube.com/stefanplc
Glad to see other people are enjoying the warrior profession! As ArtemisEntreri.4138 said, even though other professions are in a much better spot than the warrior is, this profession can still be pretty fun to play!

I’ve been playing around with Hammer/GS and really liked it too but I just really like the idea of using a shield, it feels very warrior like so that’s why I decided to go with it. Not to mention that the dragon bash shield looks pretty amazing. Both the Hammer and the Mace/Shield have a lot of great tools for sure and are also very different in play style so if you ever get bored of one, you can just play the other.
The reason I like stability is because it often allows you to down people fast and it’s very useful in 1vX situations. I didn’t get a chance to experiment yet with other traits as all the footage was recorded over 4 days so thanks for the tip, I’ll give it a try!
When I was playing around with Hammer / GS I really liked Signet of Fury over Bull’s Charge, used in combination with the Hammer Burst Stun. I would cripple my target and immobilize it with Hammer 3 and then jump to it with the Hammer stun.

The best part is that the more you play, the better you get at it, as long as you always analyze your fights. When I was looking over the recordings from day 1, even though I knew I had some really good fights there, I just didn’t like them anymore because I noticed a lot of mistakes.

Bottom line is that I mostly play WvWvW solo roaming on my warrior. The build I came up with works great for me and I’ve published ~40 minutes of gameplay to show it vs what Tier 1 WvWvW has to offer. Whatever shortcomings you might have on your warrior, I’m sure you can figure it out on your own.

Talk about shaming the other scrub warriors on this forum.
Even though this is a waste of my time and clearly you don’t have a constructive attitude, I’ll humor your comments:
- mace stun lasts 3.5 seconds with the sigil I’m using so I get a full 100B each time while my opponent is fully stunned. There’s no point in discussing 1v2 since you’ll never have 1 player beat 2 opponents of the same skill level. For 1v2 to happen you need a bit of luck and for the one player to clearly be better than the other 2 or at least have a much better strategy.
- I have pretty decent condition removal with my heal and Cleansing Ire and I do show several duels vs condition thieves particularly P/D thieves which are a pain to kill and necromancers. Please watch both videos before making dumb comments.
- I don’t play too often so I just don’t have the gold to waste on consumables. I seem to be doing just fine without them.
- Having the same sigil doesn’t defeat the purpose, it just helps me proc it on CD. If you take a look at the dueling video most duels last around 40-60 seconds so if it was to proc on CD you’d be looking at around 4-6k HP which isn’t bad at all.
- Your last comment is ignorant, you clearly didn’t watch everything. Maybe you’re just better and always playing with better people but in EU, in Tier 1 WvWvW this is as good as it gets.Again, this is probably just a waste of my time but I’d suggest having a more constructive attitude and making well thought comments if you insist on being a negative nancy.
Thank you for humoring me since I stated valid points and you had to respond. I’m surprised you think responding to replies on the thread you started is a waste of time, too. Hmm.
-Yes..I know 100b lasts through the mace stun with the sigil..I meant that you use GS3 before 100b finishes to avoid being focused by another target. Apparently judging from your reply you never thought of utilizing GS3 evade in that fashion.
Thanks for copying and pasting the mace stuntimes from wiki on the mace. We actually know all about sigil of paralyz. Look up a couple of my threads/replies.-Consumables are cheap. Look up the lvl 65 ones. Stop using money as an excuse for ignorance. Also, you have the full Orr Set? I’d assume you farmed a bit and got some cash.
-Cleansing Ire is a joke because you need to land the burst. Have fun doing that with a blind on you and someone kiting you with chill -yea..mobile strikes doesn’t remove chill-.
-What you said: There’s no point in discussing 1v2 since you’ll never have 1 player beat 2 opponents of the same skill level.
So basically you are saying you are running a dueling build in WvW and you won against more than one person because they were bad and you were lucky? You should run it in spvp dueling arenas. You will find skilled players there. Try not to edit the losses.Your 2nd video doesn’t play on some regions due to the music:
‘This video contains content from SACEM, EMI, UMPI, UMG and Ultra Music, one or more of whom have blocked it in your country on copyright grounds.’
I might bother bypassing the restriction but judging from your 1st vid and your ‘informed’ replies I won’t bother.
Welcome back to the warrior class and hope you update your Beta dated knowledge!
- I don’t have a set rotation that I use and that may be what’s giving you problems in PvP. I use different skills based on the situation which helps me catch my opponents off guard. I sometimes use GS3 at the end of 100B and I often also try to use another stun if I notice my target has low HP. In the dueling video there are several fights where I just lock someone down from 50%-0 through the use of 2-3 different interrupts. One thing that I’ve also noticed is that many people like to dodge right as they get out of the mace stun so using GS3 often turned out to be a bad idea.
- I’ve had my full Orr Set from the first month when the game came out. If I told you I don’t have that much gold to waste then I don’t.
- I score my kills by landing the mace stuns which I am able to do successfully pretty often so Cleansing Ire works pretty good for me, thanks.
- It’s pretty logic that in order to win a 1v2 you need to have some sort of an advantage such as skill, gear, CDs or strategy. 1 opponent of equal skill and gear will never be able to take on 2 others, it just doesn’t make sense. So in other words yes, I guess I was a bit better than them, I had a better strategy and build.
- When you publish anything that will give you credentials as far as your PvP skills go then you can go calling people good or bad. This is what tier 1 EU WvWvW has to offer and that’s what I’m showing so as far as the viability of this build goes, I could even say this works great in top WvWvW PvP.
