PLease add a CoD option for the mail system.
Can you add a light censor to character names that blocks certain words during creation?

My friend cannot use his signature name as it has ‘nig’ in it. It doesn’t go further than that, but it apparently violates the naming code.
His name is a variation of enigma, which means puzzle, and I’m trying to puzzle why A.Net won’t let this name fly, but others get past the ‘naming’ filter.

I’m not saying there is no way to transfer between alts (guild bank would also cover it), just pointing out that a mail system which stops you from mailing yourself must logically be designed to send mail to other people.
So it must be designed to send mail, potentially with attachments, to other people. I have yet to see anything even remotely official stating that it should not be used for trading, and if you claim that it would be “subverting a game mechanism” I’d be eager to know where you get your info from.
Please provide a link to official confirmation that you should not trade via the mail system.
Simply put…because you get scammed.
Until a CoD feature is implemented.
I for one would like to see it added. I personally like to trade things at a more reasonable cost, but doing so on the market means, with taxes, I get even less. At least if I sell my stuff at a reasonable price, people will buy it, I will get full money, and they can get a good deal.
The system should allow for this, seeing as I can’t really do it cross server (except in overflow).
Utility:
Healing Spring
I’ve noticed this alot in PvP, but healing spring is supposed to remove conditions (one per tick) but it doesn’t clear poison, even if you stand in the spring for the full duration, and if its the only condition you have…
My big bug beef is falling into water and the pet changes into some unnamed animal in your list, not your main, and the main shows up only upon emerging. My wolf is always AWOL underwater and sometimes when I emerge his level is diminished to 4.
There are aquatic animals and terrestial.
A wolf is not aquatic, but the game will always give you an aquatic pet by defualt.
Quickness is kinda strange… I would not mind if it would be removed!
lol, I would, simply because rangers have no other dependable killing skills without this. That is a flaw with design of the class, however, anytime a ranger bursts, its only because QZ was up. Otherwise, you’ll never see ranger at the top of the list for anything.
but still, take Immob if you take quickness.
Warrior says hi. Mobile Strikes on Discipline, abuse that and immobilize isn’t a problem for Warrior. The ideal builds that is. Any Warrior with half a brain will just Whirlwind attack or Rush out of immobilize. Maybe even Savage Leap.
I can see how immobilize can wreck Rangers and maybe even Thieves, but it shouldn’t really be a “stun” considering Rangers can still fight back and Thieves don’t have to be immobilized in the first place.
rangers can’t fight back, because anyone who uses immob as a tool in their arsenal will also get behind you and burst you, and your helpless to do anything else other than stand there and take it.
Unless they don’t know how Immob works and stands there in front of you, however:
a) thieves do it from behind
b) mesmers are immune to damage from the front
c) every other class either is to hardy to really care about frontal positioning, or
d) doing it from ranged.
Rangers have Lightning reflexes which shoots them backwards and gives them a small endurance regen buff. However, it dosn’t work with immob. Nor does dodging, nor does the shortbow 3* skill.
Out only hopes are signets which have erroneously high CD, or healing spring.
I agree with switching ranger and thief down sides for quickness. Rangers engage at ranged (often) and use dodge entensively, while thieves don’t. THeir dodges are built into their skills already, so why do they really need to worry about endurance?
I’m a horrible thief, I’ve been working on it, but I still suck, but I have yet to need to ‘dodge’ extensively, and when I do need it, even when I’ve just used my quickness, I always have the nedurance to dodge.
Rangers, however, use it proliferately.
Switching them would balance the classes extensively.
However, if you do remove quickness, take that kitteny immobilize with you. kkthxbye
@StSwfx
What is there to nerf??
They already took away our GS.
Our pets are borked
1/3 of our DPS is in our broken pets – Our pets hit roughly 1/8 of the time (so in effect, rangers have to rely upon their own burst skills, and trust me, thats weak)
I can heartseek you too.
Did you know if you apply a condition to the thief before it stealths, you will see the damage numbers pop up over his head? Even stealthed. not sure if a bug, but whew, this made killing thieves tonight so easy.
(no, he wasn’t using heal stealth, which I know cleanses bleeds).
f) once you have been immobilized, you receive a stability buff for 6s (immob is now affected by stability).
I personally like b) d) and f)

No, the WPs inside the city areas are free. Its only if you go from a city to a location, or from a location to a city, or form Wp to WP outside cities.
Traders forum to gate central is 0. Anywhere to anywhere inside LA’s is free.
And Heart of teh Mists is the PvP area. Go there, do teh turtorial, go to the heart of the mists and right across from the zone in area is an asura gate. zone through it and you’ll be in LA.
1. Show “Last representing” date in members tab.
2. Show motd in guild chat on login.
3. Show notifications in guild chat when a new member has joined the guild, or if someone has left. (welcome spam is fun)
4. Officer guild chat channel.
5. Withdrawl limits on guild bank (items and coins)
6. Show names of people who have withdrawn items (especially if they have left the guild. No more unknown) from guild bank
7. last day logged in
I don’t know if this was intended by design, but it’s true. I do not think it was intended, because some classes have a very low CD immobilize, while none has such a low CD stun.
You can’t break immobilize as often as you can break a stun, some proffs cannot even break it. It does one thing u need most from the stun, it makes you unable to dodge.
I 1st started playing as a ranger and I thought only rangers have this problem, but later i realized that almost nobody can break immobilize.
thieves can. Only class i know of where immobilize is listed as a ‘specific’ condition removal.
Once a ranger gets immobilized he is done for.
^^ and its like this with many classes.
Immobilize is unaffected by stability, is considered a condition (yet mobs who have stability are immune, go figure) and things that break stun do not affect it.
What’s worse is the delay in your character resuming movement again, sometimes you have to push the movement key 2-3 times before you resume movement, even if the condition has been removed.
We already have chill, stun, daze, cripple, KD, KB…what the kitten…why do we absolutely need immobilize for? The worst part about it is that you cannot turn to face target. If that was implemented, would be much better, but not by much.
suggestions for immobilize:
a) allow stun break to work against it
b) give classes immobilization removals (I know thieves have one)
c) allow turning while immbolized
d) allow stability to counter immobilized
e) get rid of it
Here is how to get to Lion’s Arch, free of charge.
Open up your character panel and find the crossed swords.
Click on ‘Go to the Heart of the Mists" button at the top
Go to teh Heart of the Mists.
Run stright over to that glowy portal in front of you.
Load into Lion’s Arch
Select the portal WP and then chose what city you want to go to.
Free, even if it is a few loads in between, but you CAN’T BEAT FREE
I play a ranger, as I have mentioned, and today I went up against an engi and had him, up until his warrior buddy arrived.
well, gosh that sucks, but thats how it goes.
So I respawn, go back and engage the same Engi. We go at it, he retreats, recovers comes back and I am eschewing through him that he needs to go back and heal up again. Comes back, and we go at it.
Its all fun and games until someone gets their eye poked out. More specifically him.
After all the set up time he had, after all the turrets he placed, after the warrior he brought the 2nd or 3rd time coming back for me, and he still ends up on his back facing the ominous ‘F’ stomp,
I raise up my hand in triumph…
I jump in the air…
Load screen…

I agree, there should be a reward for holding the point. As you said, you’re doing your team a favor by holding that point, but you lose out incredibly on the ‘skirmishing’ player kills and whatnot, since most of the fighting in hot joins occur in the midst of the field.
AFK’ers would not be an issue, enemy runs up, smacks said ‘afker’ and boom he’s dead, still afk and enemy captures the point. Even if it is a bot and the script runs him back, eh’s still easy prey.
Yes, please work on ranger. 1/3 of our overall DPS is in our pets. Our stupid pets who can’t figure out terrain, cannot attack while moving, who have low health and survivability, and oh yeah, don’t perform their F2 attacks reliably.
Yes, fix those and the new thing people will cry about are THAT PET IS SO OP!
Face it, rangers are stupidly broken, so we can only invest in SB. Longbow has its place in WvW, yet I don’t hear people crying about it. Longsword rangers do significantly more damage than a sb crossfire spam, yet I never hear anyone cry about slice…
GS was sorely nerfed and if you are using in HJ, you are hurting only yourself. I’ve yet to be killed by a GS ranger.
Axes, longswords, and shortbows are the only weapons that work reliably, with SB’s being on top because of all its utility. Axes don’t have near the range a SB does, longsword 1* skill has a component in its chain that self roots you, limiting this weapon to 1 person (while the first attack in the chain can attack all in its arc)
whiel short bow can bleed, daze/stun, evade, cripple and poison.
If that isn’t a superior weapon to what we currently posses, I dunno what else is. Bad rangers make all rangers look bad, but the good ones while have you going? WTF??
By the way, I run SB, but I don’t run QZ. Figure out how I kill you :p Guardians are by far my easiest prey.
Admittedly I was considering mainly gathering vs killing, and I forgot to take leather sections into account.
Here’s the thing… look at the price of leather, which is not gathered, and it actually proves my point. Gossamer, which is used way more in crafting disciplines, is still up there in price. Orichalcum, which is not as often gathered, drops less frequently from mobs (looking at your ratio of 6 moldy bags to 1 salvage piece again proves this) but contrary to leather IS used a lot by crafting disciplines (Armors, Jewelry, Weapons), is the clear winner. You may stay in Orr all day and kill 1,000 undead, and still the gathering nodes wouldn’t respawn until tomorrow (and contrary to casuals’ belief, there really are people farming Orr like this already, nearly every day), but the leather and gossamer adds up, and the only difference is how commonly those two are used. (Side note: Logs are used as little as leather, and you see that in the fact that they had to raise the requirement per Plank up to 3 or 4 logs apiece)
Go ahead and buy a full stack of Moldy/Thorned/Frosty/Loot Bags to prove your point, that leather really adds up faster, because in my experience, and I have bought a fair number of bags like that, they’re not far off from each other.
I think that at the core of the problem here in your original statement, is that you are taking your crafting discipline, Tailoring, into account more than anything else. There are scores of dedicated crafters in this game (if you don’t believe me just try and craft purely to turn a profit, it’s impossible). Use the real data, market data, to tell the story:
http://www.gw2spidy.com/item/19745
http://www.gw2spidy.com/item/19701
http://www.gw2spidy.com/item/19732
http://www.gw2spidy.com/item/19725…..and the only REAL problem here, honestly, is Leather, being too INexpensive!
You’re right that leather is “not” used as often. Honestly, armorsmithing should use leather and not gossamer, but that’s an issue on the DEV’s side.
I have decon most everything, as I’ve mentioned before, and tbh, I have less leather than I do gossamer, I only didn’t bring it up, because the same methods for harvesting gossamer, could be applied to leather.
That is a nice link, tbh. I am ‘one’ of those people out there everyday, gathering up nodes as often as they would spawn for me, so I was well aware of the ratio between dropped and harvested stuff. Heavy armor drops a good 50% of the time, while leather and cloth chare an equal ratio. Plus, weapons either decon to wood or metal, so the ore and wood has a major advantage on the market. And now with nodes being a 24hr thing, the price has sky rocketed, because its not as plentiful anymore.
Maybe I don’t get as much leather, because unlike my cloth, I sell the blue leathers, rather than decon them like I do my cloths.
Still, admittedly, you are even admitting that gossamer (and by association, leather) is not as plentiful as it ‘should be’ and that leather needs to have more uses. I agree to both.
@Akava
Interesting, my friend does not see this rend. But I would love to see a fix for this. I kinda want a seemless body. That’s not much to ask for.
If there is nothing valuable or worth going after in BLC, then people will not spend the gems (and conversely money to buy gems, or trade gold for gems) to get the keys. There has to be a ‘randomness’ factor from it, but having good things drop from the chests suddenly make it more worthwhile to open.
Examples:
Permanent tools. Have this be the ‘king on the mountain’ situation where these items are account bound’ so that the market cannot get flooded by them. This makes chests highly desired, since noone wants to have to uproot their harvesting to go buy a new set of tools. Also make it so that these tools have a higher chance for extras than Orichalcum tools.
Globs of ecto: Who doesn’t need these at high levels? While yes, these are tradeable, think of the circle potential. If everytime a chest gave ectos, they have 5 ectos, that’s 1 piece of armor or jewellry, or weapon someone can make or 5 of them that can be sold on the market, people will turn around and invest more into BL keys and chests. The more cycle fuels itself.
Chance to get a ‘legendary’ ingredient. I am not talking the legendary itself, but like a Gift of ‘something’ that goes into crafting a legendary.
Gems: Why not? give to some to entice you to buy more gems. WHy not? You apparently want this market to revolve around the gem store, why not incentivcize? 50 Gems everytime you get a chest that drops gems isn’t enough to purchase a key, but get enough and people will flock to the store to buy more keys. Sure, it can be turned into a gold, and people can hoarde these away, but with keys remaining account bound, unless people are buying keys in builk, the chests continue to exceed the keys, and therefore, even if they have a lot of gems, they will have to get keys form somewhere.
this has been brought up before, but I agree!!
Preview and the ability to sort armor by heavy, light medium
ugh, got 21 first go, 15 second, and 16 my third sighs the mystic forge hates me
I can’t quote people, but if that’s the case, that’s so much better!
I can live with 20!(per 250)
*scrambles off ot mystic forge.’
@starflek
I run around with a friend (who also uses gossamer) and we fight nearly everything in the zone as we circle chain the ori nodes in ever zone. Yesterday, my grand total of heavy moldy bags was 6, 2 white armor drops, and 2 discarded garments, on heavy leather bondings and one salvagable metal. I got 3 blues, no green (cloth armors, not leather or heavy, I get so much of those) for a grand total of 0 gossamer after I done salvaged everything.
Off the white mace I deconed:: 1 Ori.
Off the white leather I deconned: 2 ML leather
These are both, oddly, using the blue salvage kit.
I am no stranger to danger. I have sold off hundreds of Orichalcum (before I started hoarding them for my jewel crafting) and I have guarded my gossamer with fierce intent, and I still had barely enough to make myself a full set of exalted armor. I ended up buying 3 scraps off the market.
@kKaragi
I would use this method, however, for 250 silk scrap you only get 5-10 gossamer. The exchange rate is terrible!! And I know that’s intentional, but its still…poor. Very very poor. With this method, I would only get 15-30 gossamer scraps, which is roughly 15 bolts, which makes 1 piece of armor.
for 750 silk scraps…
1 piece of armor.
PLease do the math, you are losing on this exchange. Which is why I don’t use the mystic forge.
For me, my decisions are based on what my character would do. It’s up to you if you don’t RP, like I do, but I intend to make my ranger a whisperer, simply because I like ‘stealth’ and influencing nations from ‘behind a curtain’.
My ranger is not a head on fighter, nor does she give a fig about ‘some must fight so that all may survive’. She doesn’t care about science or technology, so she kinda fits in with the whisperers. Plus, the dude is kinda hunky.
If you have a tailor, you know the frustration that stems from getting this ML. The only way you can get it is from decon’s of discarded garments and level 80 armors. (white blue, green, yellow, gold) and occassionaly from loot bags. ‘Occassionally’.
However, here is the problem with gossamer ‘decons’.
First off, the master salvaging kits have a 25% chance of giving you a ‘rare’ loot. But this is not the case. I have found that master salvaging kits give you a 10-15% chance. This is based on the 500 or so decons I have done, with just the master salvaging kits. I didn’t try with journeyman, but I did another 500 decons using the blue salvaging kit, with a return of 15-17% chance of a rare. The Blue kit is far superior to use (and cheaper to boot) than it is for a master salvaging kit.
Now, this is not a rant about salvaging kits. That can be another post for later. The real issue with gossamer, in the rare and unlikely event that you decon one from loot, is the amount you get. Never, in my experience, have I gotten more than 1 gossamer from anything other than level 80 exotics (I did that once ot prove a point, I only got 3 from a chest piece, a far cry from what actually goes into it). With silk, even on salvagable materials, you can get anywhere from 1-3 silks, but always only 1 gossamer. Even on white loot, you will always only get one. ONE!!!
With Orichalcum nodes spitting out 3-4 ore per node, wood spiiting out 3-4 wood per trunk, I feel like tailors (and anyone who uses gossamer as a comp) gets a huge short end of the shaft.
Please!! Help us!! Here are a few suggestions:
Have spiders drop gossamer. It makes sense, they can ‘spin webs’. Or have mobs you can ‘harvest’ for 1-2 gossamer per hit, and have 4 of these rare critters in each zone (like ori and ancient wood) Or allow decons to grant more than 1 gossamer (1-3 like silk).
Or implement them all!!! After all, you can decon armor and weapons for ore and lumber as well. Please, help those of us who use gossamer. This is insane!
I wear the linen graphic set (SS #2) and I’ve been plagued by this.
Other characters do not see this ‘rend’, its only on your side.
So i just hit lvl 80 wanted to make some gold for some WvWvW then i hear you set the cooldowm from an already ridiclous 5 Hour CD to at 24 HR CD….And to add insult to injury 1 Orich ore is a measley 3 silver 40….
You put DR’s on everything in the game when i hit 80 now you Nerf the farming to nothing.. I Just want to PeeVeePee and i read this wasn’t a grindfest like WoW…Turns out i have to farm the petty mithril and other that has a shorter cd that only sells for a couple of copper each…Ya totally not a grindfest…What fail this game is turning out to be and only a month in sigh.
measly 3s40c??? MEASLY!
ori nodes used to go for 2s50c and man, that was the LIFE! They are much MORE expensive because they are on such a huge delay now.
A.Net needs to put them back on 5 hour timers again. They already change the nodes on a weekly basis. kitten /p>
While I will defend crossfire spam, I do so because if that is all the ranger is doing you are:
a) not paying attention
b) letting the ranger get behind you
c) ranger is so bad he will be dead soon after QZ wears off, if not before.
The SB has more than crossfire on it making it the prefered weapon of choice, not because of QZ/crossfire spam, but because it has an evade, a daze/stun, a cripple and bleeds on flanking, and poison. All these make this weapon highly desireable, and the ranger would be ‘stupid’ to limit himself to just crossfire. Crossfire, like 100blades or pistol whip is just taking advantage of a combo. You will read it in your ‘list of things that killed me’ because it is a burst ability, and quite frankly, its near one of our only burst abilities.
i have no problem with 100 blades becuse its a channeled stationary ability on a cooldown
I am VERY upset with crossfire, pistol whip and , “hartsekorz!!” even after the nerf, they can still gain haste and plow me under on any class other than my shield +defensive guardian.
lawl, I guarentee that crossfire is not an effective method to killing a guardian. between your shields, your blocks, and rataliation, a ranger would kill themselves first.
No…its the traps I place under your feet that are killing you. Since you silly ‘bunker’ guardians stand still for me because you are protecting the node. It’s so cute watching the epic sad face of guardians who think I am an easy kill.
It gets my knickers all frilly and stuff.
Wow….crossfire getting up there with PW and 100B..
That’s epic.
Rangers do more than just spam crossfire. You only notice it when you get killed because its up there at the top when you get killed. Same with 100b or PW.
However, you need ‘set up’ skills, or terrain advantage, and other damaging skills to pull off these epic wonderous 1* button skills…
If you outlive these skills and have a heal ready for you, then the ranger dies fast, the warrior dies fast, and the thief slips away to come back at you 30s later.
I was thinking, and even though having all three nodes will grant a HUGE point bonus to accellerate your team to a win, the fact that you get 3 points altogether can still make a match drag out into an eternity.
Why not make it so that if you have 1 point, you get 1 point per tick. If you have 2 points, you get 2 points per node, for a total of 4 points per tick. And if you have three, each node generates 3 points per tick, for a grand total of 9! I think this would speed up matches.
What do you all think?
Don’t get me wrong, I like the Mesmer playstyle and ideology. It’s just that whenever I jump into my ranger or guardian, I find playing the game much easier and relaxing compared to when I’m playing it on my Mesmer to achieve the same end result. The guardian and ranger just feels rightly powerful in comparison to the mobs I’m attacking as opposed to the Mesmer where I’m constantly hovering below 50% health and running away just to not die.
I’m level 42 and I never ever do areas at my same level (I’m currently finishing all the 15-25 ones) but even then, the class just feels really really gi mp in terms of damage output and survivability in PVE (and let’s not get started on DE’s – geez). The class is also so riddled with many bugs, and whenever there’s a patch I keep getting excited that the bugs will be fixed.
Any words of encouragement? Will it ever get better? Constructive replies only please.
I stopped here, because you must understand something.
You are deliberately hindering yourself.
You are level 42 doing LOWER level areas, not level appropriate ones, which would drop gear appropriate for your level. When you get level adjusted, so do your stats. And that means, that level 20 piece of armor you are wearing in that level 20 zone, is more equivalent to level 5 or 6.
You might as well run around naked screaming, “look at me! Look at me!”
Your weapons get scaled too, so you are not doing as much damage.
We all want world completion. Just do it when you are lvel 80, been to Orr and back, and have armor/weapons/jewellry befitting a level 80. Then, you will be grossly overpowered for the level zone you are in.
berserker’s armor.
Power and Crit..emphasis on power…but the crit is nice.
Can also swap out with Valkyrie armor as well. Power vit and crit damage.
Point is, phantasms, traited, bleed on crits. 2 duelists and 1 warden can get stacks of bleeds up to near 25 all on their own.
My duelists crit for upwards of 2.5-3k while my wardens crit for upwards of 4k (saw close to 5k once).
Conditions are a bonus for mesmers, not our life blood. However, we can stack for conditions with staff and clone kills, but its more reliable to stack offensively.
really? I always use that ability just to make a damage sponge; I never thought to use it offensively. Thanks!
iwarden focus 5* skill, not phantasmal defender.
Phantasmal defender places a buff on you that absorbs half your damage from you.
Phantasmal warden reflect projectiles and deals a butt load of AE damage.
My warden crits upwards of 4k ^_^
I’m also seeing the slower illusions (my iSwordsman needs to hit the gym all of a sudden) and the weapons lingering after dissipation.
So far I’m not seeing Illusionary Leap fail to spawn a clone within its proper range, but it does look like we’re seeing some sort of regression here.
I am not happy with my illusionary leap skill.
7/10 it spanws AT ME and runs a little, stops, runs a little more, stops, then gets to the mob. Its supposed to leap at the target, crippling them, and then I can use the swap to trade places with the clone, and immobilizing the opponent.
Trading places 2 feet beside me is not what is intended. And I oftentimes beat the clone to the mob. I switch only because I want the immobilization condition. This is pointless…
I run sword/gun scepter/focus and you broke BOTH my two things that I use in PvE. I use duelist too, and I am no way ‘limited’ by these nerfs..but these things…it was the only halfway decent DPS a mesmer could do….
Why, A.Net..Why??
Your only bypassing walls if the original mesmer was able to get beyond the wall in the first place!
You can’t have a mesmer log off in WvW and ccome back to a taken keep and just open up portal and bring in huge zergs. Somehow, that mesmer got over the wall in the first place, and had to get BACK over again to drop the exit portal.
When the portal is up, it lasts only 20s. This is a long time, but not nearly long enough in many cases. It can move armies over long distances, but the mesmers arent the fastest roamers out there. We have veil…and maybe chaos storm will give us a speed boost, but we have no inherent speed bonuses like thieves or rangers. So, our distances don’t span that far.
Nah engi is next. I hope its ranger shortbow 1 spam lol
My bet is on the Ranger Shortbow 1 spam. Starting to seem them all the time now. And it takes even less skill to pull off than Thief’s or Mesmer’s.
you’d be surprised at how untrue this statement is.
Sure, QZ and crossfire = burst, but we have no way to heal, often draws great and ferocious attention to ourselves, and rarely ever downs a person. It’s greatly countered by retaliation and confusion, and reflection.
Move along, nothing to see here.
Ah someone bad at pvp. Sorry its very easy to pull off, and since most of the QQ is from spvp that is what i was talking about. With zergs its very easy to do. Just pick your targets correctly. And really its not that big of a deal that you can’t heal. You telling me you can’t figure out when your not going to need to heal in the next 4 sec?
rolls eyes
Nice job, however, I am fairly skilled at sPvP and tPvP and do not rely on QZ and sb 1 spam. And I mention these counters because yes, I fell victim to these and this is how I know what easily counters sb 1 spam.
I mentioned these above to point out the down side and counters to this new method of sb spam by rangers. And yes, since rangers often engage at ranged, they can evoke the spam before you close, but if you can withstand this, and then get a heal off, you’ve just completely kittened that ranger. He has to wait 45s for it to refresh. If yoiu can’t eat him in that time, I wonder who the worst player here is???
And btw, I will see you in game :p

I am sorry for your misfortune, OP. However, I would not have rezzed you either.
You fell, you will not get an armor repair penalty for dying. If I rez you, you do. what’s worse, 1s for a teleport 3 ft? Or kitten repair cost? I would assume people knew you had fallen and while its a jerky thing to walk away, they saved you a bit of coin.
If your in a dwoned state, I won’t hesitate to pick you up, or try and rally you. I will rally first, as you will not get armor damage from a rally, but if I lift you, you do.
Each and every Mesmer Build has a counter to them. The common bottom denominator to all of them is AoE damage and condition fields. Mesmers have to trait a VERY specific way to continually counter conditions and even then it’s at the sacrifice of their strongest offense and defense.
Mesmers currently have no strong counters to AoE damage, tends to wipe out clones and phantasems easily. Paired with condition fields it is typically a surefire way to wear a mesmer out quickly and kill them.
I’ve explained this several times, I have seen it in practice on both sides of the field and have even contributed. Yet the forums seem to remain ignorant of it.
because they want to.
Noone likes to hear that they have to step up their ‘A’ game and learn.
Only reason ‘I’ know how to counter a mesmer is that I play one in PvE. That is my main and I know a fair bit about their tricks. and what their weapons so and how to ‘hopefully’ avoid their strongest abilities.
Far too many times, people lay down chaos storm at the wrong times. They use it as a deterent, rather than their most powerful weapon in their arsenal. When a ‘good’ mesmer uses it, its both a weapon, and a boon. In the hands of a good mesmer, a chaos storm will never reveal who they are, unti you are flat on your back, ready to be stomped by them.
Far too few stafff weilding mesmers are ‘that good’.
by ‘pro’ I mean those that have niched out the very best of teh best builds (and covetly guard these builds) have gaming mice or keyboards so all they have to do is hit a 1 button macro to ‘pwn’ you, and dedicate their very lives to running tPvP over and over again, because they are so good and so fast.
vs
a guild wanting to have a good time, doing team building and playing cometetively.
As I said in my post, I have enjoyed tPvP, and I don’t mind losing. Its the professional teams that roflcurbstomp you that, for me specifically, are an issue. You can’t get past them because they have the macros and farm your spawn point instead of allowing both teams to competatively play the map.
AC in particular does this…(in khylo) they blew us off clocktower, blew up our treb, and anytime the met us on the field of battle, it was no contest, they DPSBLEWUPOURFACES sending us scrambling to our spawn points, and then when they had the map, they camped our spawn point pretty much locking us in the base (both entrances yes) and keeping us put while the timer slowly ticked away…
the final scroe was 23 – 500. Such match ups like these earned hardly either team favor I had a grand total of 15, and the highest member of their side had 55, simply because we refused to jump down and play their graveyard camping game.
I commend that people are good (macros or otherwise), but to do this to an obviously lesser ‘pre-made’ was no fun for anyone, except their kittens.
Some kind of match up system needs to be in place. I enjoy tPvP, but I took a 7day break because of this. Bruised ego or otherwise, this was beyond demoralizing. Losing is one thing, being perma locked in your base, a completely ’nother story.
its funny that forice and now fire are both complaining about, specifically, mesmer clones.
You know, I went up against an entire team of mesmers last night in tPvP…
Oddly enough, we won.
Weird, I thought mesmers were sooooo OP.
@mac:
my whole guild goes in as a pre-made. It doesn’t make us good, or as competative as, say Halycion affinity. Or AC or even TP. And they go in as a pre-made. Granted, rank doesn’t equate skill, I get that, but there is a slight distinction from professional team to my guild got together and is working on tPvP…
There needs to be some form of matchmaking.
I am have recently just joined the tPvP bandwagon and have my mixed share of fun and frustrations.
I have had battles where I win, and battles I lose and I always pick up and go again.
Except when I come against teams like: SC and TP and HA. It’s not even a match, its just a lesson in waiting inside your base, because the other professional teams are waiting for you to drop down and get zerged by their macros.
I respect that they have learned and play these games professionally, but why pit them against teams that are barely in their teens in rank? I swear, I am an average player, maybe bordering on good but I certainly wouldn’t put myself in an elite corner nor would I say I’m an excellent player.
I am always striving to be better in PvP, but in match-up’s like this, I can’t learn what to do better, or what builds they run that I can try and practice, because you know they are certainly not going to be forth coming….
So, why do they join and then roflstomp over obviously other lesser competaters??? My guild wants to enjoy tPvP, we certainly don’t want to be the top of the rung, but with practive we might get ‘good enough’, but with guilds like these…we don’t even get the chance.
Would I be over the top in wishing that match-ups ranked you within a certain degree of one another in terms of ‘skill’ i.e. the amount of glory (relative) that all your team members have??
Say you have 12/12/20/24/14 rank on your team, and you get placed with 30/15/13/16/16
Sure, the other team is a little better than you, but it won’t be a rofl fest, and it might help you to hone your skills as well as them. Who knows or cares who wins, but placing team #1 with 80/80/80/80/80 is like…come on, really
Any arguments?

I like to use the Greatsword, attack with a clone, attack at range with skill 1, pushback , Skill 3 when close again.
Despite what it does, GS is more of a melee weapon. The mirror blade buffs might on whoever it bounces off of. I can, on more than one occassion get up to 12 stacks of might on myself. The damage increase alone on that is amazing. But you don’t get the buff, unless you get the rebound on the sword, thus, a melee weapon (usable at range)
Once you have 9-12 stacks, switch to sword and blurred frenzy. You’ll be awed at the damage increase.
