Most of what I see here is ‘thief with more skills/weapon choices’, ‘warrior with more skills/weapon choices’, and ‘summoner somewhere between Spirit Wep Guardian and MM’.
Personally, I think they should keep the classes they have, and simply add more skills and weapon types to them. That would allow us to continue to develop our existing characters instead of creating a glut of one or two character types, like Dervs and Paras in Nightfall or Ssins and Rits in Factions.
Another race or two on the other hand wouldn’t hurt too much, but might be hard to integrate.
I use a drafting table which elevates my keyboard up to standing waist height (which is quite a ways up on someone 6’1"). Most of my computer use-related health problems have reduced or gone away entirely.
It killed the tendons on the backs of my legs at my knees, though, especially the first few weeks. But they were weak from sitting before, I guess. I suggest supplementing the arrangement with a stool of proper height which you can use 30-50% of the time to rest with.
TLDR: Go for it, especially if you dislike dying young.
Despite the devs insisting there are no tanks and healers, I find the dungeon groups I’ve been in have done remarkably better when there’s a ele or two to water heal, and one or two warriors/guardians that can stand up to damage via various mechanisms.
As for glass cannons, in dungeons etc where there’s large persistent amounts of aoe or environmental damage, they tend to fall unnecessarily often due to taking too much damage for their often feeble self heals and defenses to keep up with.
All of the ones that don’t impose a time limit or arbitrarily kill me with falling rocks near the end after 20 minutes of frustrating jumping.
Giant destroyer and lack of functional chest (when I did it) aside, I liked Only Zuhl.
Very nice to go down instead of up for a change.
This problem transcends cult armor, though given the price of cult armor it’s particularly egregious.
Take Draconic armor for example, the exotic heavy armor everyone has. It’s got many different components to it, and only has 3 channels, with the end result never looking very nuanced. A waste of a decent model, in my opinion, much like the cult armor.
Snowden Drifts – both highly dramatic and cool.
A Light In The Darkness (storyline mission with the Pale Tree and Orr) – It’s not quite clear what the picture is of, but its very cool.
Frostgorge Sound – elegant massive floating city that dwarfs the large ships around it. Pity the in-game appearance of the city/ship isn’t as cool.
Fields of Ruin – Ebonhawke at its coolest. Sinister and strong looking. And unlike the kodan ship, the in-game rendering is plenty cool already, just not as good as the load screen.
F2P’ing GW2 more then it already is would be an absolutely horrendous idea.
Considering I see people walking about in T3, surely the price must be about right – it’s rare and still draws attention. But not so rare that you can’t find people with it in any given zone
Do we really want everyone walking about in the same armour set?
They already do – that stuff from CoF, pre- exploit fix.
And (almost all of) the people with (more then 1 or 2 pieces of) T3 frankly did not legitimately grind their gold – they bought it via gems.
I would have liked my mentor to be risen as the undead on my return to Claw Island or later in Orr. This would put a face to the horde of undead we face, and this would give an ounce of tragedy in the story.
It’s what I expected and looked forward to too. But according to cannon, sylvari can’t be Risen, being plants instead of mammals.
Except there’s all those corrupted plants I was flamethrowering in a heart in Sparkfly today. So there’s hope yet!
So come on Anet, give us an epic personal story quest line to face our Risen mentor!
Forget resurrection, bring back the scriptwriter for that part of the storyline, at least. Tybalt and Sieran were the best npcs in the game, and most of the other characters in the storyline didn’t live up to them. Except for that Asuran guy. Or the other one. Both of whom also die.
Why do certain well known failures of scripting and voiceacting survive, while the good ones all die?
Trahearne is Kormir reincarnated.
True story.
Hey at least Kormir lost her eyes. Sure she gets to be a god, but at least we got credit for killing the previous one!
In GW2 its the player character who does all the sacrificing, losing nifty NPC’s of various voice acting qualities along the way, while Trehearne has nothing, and so loses nothing. He’s only got his life and his shiny sword, and loses neither.
Oh dear, this is becoming a rant.
Anyway, yes, Trehearne’s voice acting was indeed disappointing considering his main role, inferior in its delivered form to those of Destiny’s Edge, who for all their problems, were at least earnest. Caithe is how you do emotionally controlled. Trehearne is how you do it wrong.
“Death…Good!”
It means you’re going to get pulled over and have to slaughter these zombies before resuming running for your life/ ori nodes.
They need to bring back the VA’s and record a YARR for every race/gender! And fix some of those storyline performances…
Ehhh… I think you’re projecting. Take Caithe for example, her face is convex while her VA’s face is concave. Still nifty to see the VA’s tho.
The generic racial quotes you hear ten million times hanging around crafting stations – God do I get sick of the endless “Never leave a wrong to ripen into evil” and “Ideas are like cream, good ones rise to the top.”
At least the ‘unique to that pair of npcs standing over there’ quotes are often funny, even if you’ve heard them a million times, ie the ‘ogdens hammer’ and ‘water-closets’ exchanges. That being said, the latter’s gotten pretty old.

Ultimately the reason is because warriors aren’t very tanky without a shield. Guardians have a lot more options for survivability. That and all the people telling newcomers to use gsword spec’d for damage.
I agree it almost feels like a map that’s still under development.
Agreed. Even during the event, the placement of enemies, difficulty of getting up the cliff onto the western half of the island if you fell off, and lack of poi’s, vistas, hearts, etc made it feel half made. Which is a pity, since its a pretty map with some innovative terrain.
Kodan once the devs give them eyeballs… but they strike me as too much of a conformist society to send out heroes.
Largos, sure, especially since we haven’t seen their home area – they could have a starting area etc built around it for new characters.
A lot of the other races are too dumb for the default text dialogue to work (and I doubt they want to go rewrite all of that)
Ogres seem intellegent enough, but are worse then norn and charr in terms of being too big.
Ancient Undead from elona would be workable, if odd.
Hylek are also workable, but there isn’t really room for a starting area for them, given their scattered nature.
Krait wear the “evil” hat as firmly as the Nightmare Court, so forget them…
As for tengu, it wouldn’t be that hard – given their kingdom is right in the middle of everything, they could even use other race’s starting areas with the justification of exploring the outside world.
So tengu, largos, and ancient undead, sure, but kodan, krait, hylek, ogres, and everyone else, probably not.
I hope they are associated with bubbles. We need to see the other elder dragons more then just 10 minutes before we kill them so that they have their own agency and seem to be more legitimate threats.
They need to draw a distinction between superficial cutscene events like the one at Halloween, and events that actually include interactive content and/or loot. Those of us who might cancel a date for loot will feel a tad annoyed if it turns out to be another 20 second cutscene.
My physical response to reading the news article about Ascended gear was a surge of something akin to nausea.
Do you people (Anet) remember at all what mad GW1 good? Forcing us to jump through a new set of upgrade hoops and once again having to use transmog stones or lose the armor appearances we actually want is not fun for everyone.
You want to know why so many of us rushed to level 80 and spend all our time online farming events in Cursed Shore? It was to cut to the end of the endless wastage of grinding equipment over and over and over. And now you want us to do it all over again?!
Remember orbs? Intended to give losing teams a way to gain an advantage, they always ended up simply reinforcing the winning server. Ascended gear is similar – it rewards the “winners” (people who have spent $$ to get gold and can buy anything they want on the tp, and/or people who spend all their time farming) while providing a barrier to everyone else (those of us who dont want to drop more $$ on a $60 game, and/or have lives).
This issue certainly needs something like this. I’m pretty antisocial and even I miss the hordes of players that populated the non lvl 80 zones right after launch, if for no other reason that there’s less events and you die alone more often.
Credit card users buy 100g via gems so that they can annoy everyone else in the zone with the icon you can’t turn off cluttering the minimap.
But I do agree that if the icon was merit-based only, ie grinding WvW etc, it would be both rarer, and less annoying (since it would be actually earned).
Compared to the somewhat stilted (or in the case of the sylvari Vigil rep, very stilted) voiceacting in the rest of the game, the Mad King is great. In the Japanese dub, the equivalent would be Norio Wakamoto.
My only problem with the MK farm is that it’s a bit too obvious that the dialogue was recorded long ago for the actual 31st event, and that the minidungeon was added later without any additional recording. Still fun!
I agree Hip Shot looks lame. The animation is perfectly appropriate for the messy looking short range skills, but for a default attack and for Net Shot, it looks silly.
I prefer the Krytan pistol. Sure it’s common, but its the most compact and least cartoonish looking pistol. Anyone know of an even more rational looking one?
