You have 2 druids so the whole party gets its buffs and I never want to see any drood other than zerk or condi in my team so yeah, noty, we have enough heals and there is no need to have 2k tougness, I easily do every raid boss w/ 1250 toughness

I just want to point out to anyone who is reading this for advice, and doesn’t know, a ps war gains 400 toughness when rezzing someone (minor trait). So a pure glass ps war has 1400 toughness when rezzing and 1000 toughness baseline.

So, if a tank is going to go sub 1400 toughness, the ps wars need to know not to rez anyone. Of course, ideally no one goes down. But people reading this forum page for advice should consider what their typical teams look like. Because a tank lossing agro can be the difference between a recovery and a wipe.

I suspect that the (fairly outrageous) prices of the ascended gear is due to the ability to bypass leveling the crafting skills. Which makes them largely useless for anyone who has the said skills leveled.

Regardless of this fact—which is a good point overall—it ultimately means that they’ve introduced a supposed relic / matrix / page sink that will never realistically get used except by accident.

It would have been much more useful if they had reduced the gold cost to raid vendor levels and then made the (pristine) relic cost very, very high so you either have to play a metric boatload of Fractals to gear up or get to L500 crafting. That would have been a fair trade.

Here is the dev response to this on reddit:

We considered a pricing model more akin to the raid vendor, but a couple things led us away from that structure and to the current one.

First off, we wanted to ensure that crafting remained the primary way for most players to get their Ascended equipment. Due to their nature, Raids will never become the primary way for players to obtain Ascended, but that was a very real risk with Fractals as they are far more accessible and easy to farm.

Secondly, if the primary cost was a token instead of gold, we wouldn’t be able to use either Pristines or Research Pages as players have had to long time to stockpile those already. Since we didn’t want to add yet another token to Fractals, it made sense to make gold the primary cost and have the tokens be secondary.

Ultimately, after much internal debate, we decided the gold-based structure would be the best for the long-term health of the game.

Allow us to buy ascended crafting materials with fractal rewards. Then crafting is still the main method of getting ascended, but fractal currencies are also part of that method.

It’s your right to feel that way, but that seems to assume that an “easy” mode will be a cakewalk for average players.

We have yet to see what options there are for an “easy” mode and it could be a number of things. Regardless, having to defeat 150 bosses is a significant feat for any player. LI are time gated too so it becomes a long term achievement. Planning builds, gearing up, organizing groups, playing… There are a lot of factors you need to look at and account for. As is, tons of players can’t even run fractals or dungeons without difficulty, so raid content will still be the ultimate challenge.

I don’t care about whether it is challenging to other players, and I don’t care about prestige. Go try to run a fractal 25, then try to run a fractal 1 (or any of the other examples). If there is an easy mode that gives the same rewards as hard mode, it will kill off hard mode. Raids already take long enough to get an lfg filled, splitting the population will only make it worse. An easy mode without rewards could increase the population engaging in raids, but still push all the new players towards hard mode.

No rewards and no achievement will not happen. The devs are not going to do that to players, especicially when it takes a whopping 150 boss kills anyway for 1 set of legendary armor.

If difficulty setting come I’m pretty sure we will see “easy”, “normal” and “hard” modes with scaling rewards.

If that is how it is implemented then I do not support easy mode. Progress towards legendary armor should only be possible via current difficulty mode.

I really think a learning mode could help get more people interested in raids. But it is absolutely essential that NO REWARDS NOR ACHIEVEMENTS be given for anything but the existing difficulty. Something like this:

Just cut all mob hp to 1/10’th, and damage to 1/10’th. Still allow 10 players in. This would be a simple environment to go in initially on your own, learn the mechanics, etc. Don’t waste time making it too good, just a quick and dirty learners mode.

I think we can all agree getting 10 people together can be difficult. And I believe having to get 10 people together just for initial learning/familiarization is an unnecessary barrier to starting the content.

Additionally, for players who will never raid, but feel they are missing on the story, this would satisfy them.

If we can get more people interested in Raids, Anet will be able to devote more resources to them. I know some people on these forums want to believe that this isn’t true, but Anet is a business. There is a reason gem shop gets nearly weekly updates.

Your original post asked, what to spec for. We answered, group damage, active defenses, cc for break bars, and have some swap ins for stealth/swiftness on skips.

Now you want to make the thread about a flaw in the game. But do you realize Anet has told us all dungeons are not being worked on anymore? They are pretty much all 4 years old and will never be updated again.

Consider raids. Healing is real there. You can be a healer, and your own personal heal skill is used too. Anet has heard your complainst, and already released content to address it.

If you want new dungeons to come out, make a new thread, I promise you will get plenty of support from this forum, and none from Anet.

If all you want to do is complain about how bad a job Anet did on dungeons, make a new thread, I promise you will get plenty of support from this forum too.

You want to use active defenses. Self heals are purposefully weak.

Against trash mobs you want to use blinds and crowd controls skills like stun and knock down.

Against bosses you can have a guardian generate aegis, you can use projectile reflects/absorbs from a mesmer/guardian/necro/(who else?). You can use a tank such as an elementalists rock golem, a ranger pet, a necro minion, etc.

Most important is to understand mechanics. You are not going to defeat bosses the first time you fight them at level 50 unless you have read a guide. You may not want to read a guide, in which case expect to experiment and fail a few times.

Raid story would not give you much insight into the current story.

But, if your actually care enough, it’s all there in a completed instance and summarized at the beginning of wing 3.

I saw plenty of teaching runs in lfg today — you can learn to raid if you want.

I think you missed what I said. We don’t want to waste the time of another player. It would be nice to be able to go in and experience and learn mechanics on your own time.

Your assumption is wrong. The LS3 starts where the HoT story ended.

As I said "it seems ". There are things in the living story I don’t understand. Why does my character assume the explosion is from a bloodstone? Why does my character say white mantle are involved? Am I missing it somewhere in the story? What is informing my character of these things.

This would not produce any staying power for your guild. You would complete them once and be done.

Yes, we would complete the raids, and then feel free to play living story 3. The staying power isn’t from raids (which are slowly produced at a rate of one every few months) but by the living story (which in the past has been every 2 weeks). So it would make more of us come back and stay at least for the duration of ls3.

Story is like the least important part of the game, it does not provide any longevity or replayability to a MMO at all. So I do not understand why some people are obsessed with story.

Think outside your own bubble, all I can say.

Additionally, an easy mode with no rewards has other benefits. My own guild is only 5 friends who know each other in real life. None of us want to waste the time of other players. An easy mode would allow the 5 of us to go in, learn the encounters, and then join other groups without being as much of a burden. This could be a good way to get more people to try raiding.

I don’t enjoy gw2 anymore either. I actually quit/started a break a couple months ago, I check the forums sometimes to see if they fixed the content I care about yet, saw this thread and decided to post:

Dungeons: Killed them on purpose. Can’t blame them after 3 years of solid “support”, they must have been tired.

Fractals: killed them on accident. Tried to fix them by boosting loot rather than fixing the system. Swamp till you drop, great job anet. Still waiting on those leader boards that no body even wants from 2013. Also still waiting on the legendary back piece. All content promised with HOT. Instead of fixing them, they are more worried about cheesing mossman (BTW lupi says ‘hi’).

Raid: It was fun. But needlessly frustrating with issues like no lfg, ghostly infusion only has +5 AR instead of the new standard +7, overly restrictive ascended drops (seriously, fractals get boxes giving you at least the choice between light, medium, and heavy but RAIDS don’t?). And of course, a moderately interesting story that was hinted at but will almost certainly never be elaborated on.

Open World: The 4 new open world meta events are moderately cool, but frustratingly restrictive. Actually just about everything is frustratingly restrictive. Adventures locked behind the meta event, exploration locked behind the meta events, vendors locked behind the meta events. Even the meta event is locked behind the meta event (Chak gerrant cool down is ridiculous). I liked SW because you could just hop in and play.

Trying out Blade and Soul right now with my old guild (they all quit too ofc) to fill the MMO gap.

Well prehot we had a lot more instabilities, and didn’t just do swamp x 3. So I would say all rewards are as good or better, but the overall content is much worse.

How is this patch supposed to prevent players from farming swamp/molten all over???

Other than fixing the toughness-scaling and adding more gold to the boxes, this patch did nothing. And this took them almost 2 months?

What happened to all the ideas that were around, like adding a 75+ daily or making the 3 fractals for each daily fixed (and different every day)?

The harder fractals give higher exp for central tyria mastery, so its all fixed now :^)

I think this community is absurd sometimes. Confrontation is a normal part of human interaction. Emotions run high, that’s ok. It just a part of being emotionally invested in the game. People vent their emotions, and then life goes on. The same guy you were arguing with can end up being a good friend, because you built a bond overcoming that challenge together.

I don’t think your problem is gw2. I think your problem is interacting with humans in a team situation. In which case I would say, maybe mmo’s aren’t for you.

Yeah I am aware of that aspect. I enjoy times on my ele when that happens. Obviously the 1 sec cd of engie speeds it up a lot, but I’m excited to possibly try it.

I’m not thinking too much about raids right now. For fractals I pug, but for raids I stick with some guilds I’ve joined, and I am filling the spot of ps war there. But hey, you never know. After all, being versatile is my goal.

Getting ascended for necro or mesmer should not be dependant on boonstrip. Both of those classes (especially mesmer/chronomancer) get taken along for other things besides boonstrip. You should instead consider if you enjoy playing the class.

I respectfully disagree. I already have 3 characters fully geared up for high level fractals which I pug usually. I use whichever one I think is going to be most beneficial, and right now I consider my account weakest against the boon instabilities. So I am looking to improve that one specific aspect of my account.

Well, based on how tomorrow goes, maybe I will instead invest in a condi class. I’m thinking either engie or necro. I’ve heard burnzerker is good too, but I don’t want two wars.

Why do people think devs want dungeons to stay empty? That just sounds crazy. The rewards nerf was needed for SOME paths of dungeons. They need to give different rewards for different paths, though. The blanket nerf hurt too much, but was needed for CoF :P

anet specifically told us, they don’t want players running dungeons. There was no ambiguity. They directly said it.

I think all the fractal group level achievements should be repeatable achievements with good rewards. Something like this maybe:

Examples:
Casual Fractal Hero (1-20)
-5 pristine relics.
-Choice of 1 uninfused ascended ring.
-1 Ascended salvaging tool (1 use)

Core Fractal Hero (21-50)
-7 pristine relics.
-Choice of 1 infused ascended ring.
-1 Ascended salvaging tool (1 use)

Elite Fractal Veteran (51-75)
-10 pristine relics
-1 Golden Fractal Relic
-Choice of 5 ascended materials (Bolt of damask, Elonian Square, deldrimore steel,spirit wood plank). Choose however you want. All damask, 3 different ones, etc. All your choice.

Elite Fractal Master (76-100)
-15 pristine relics
-3 Golden Fractal Relics
-Your choice of any ascended weapon or armor (regular crafting skin). You choose everything (class/stats/etc).

I did my best to give every tier some relevant things to what players at that level may need. I tried to make the pristine relics amount comparable to how many relics you would get through moderately optimal fractal daily usage. This way players are rewarded for doing the achievements, but don’t feel punished for not doing them.

Notes:
-This would introduce the first non rng method to get ascended gear directly from fractals
-This would introduce the first non rng method to get golden fractal relics.

Personally, I would recommend that if you’re not enjoying content, don’t play it. I haven’t touched fractals in weeks. I don’t intend to until the update. If they are fun again, I will play again. Otherwise, well, fallout 4 is out, and there are a lot of other great games to play too.

Our standards are too low, because we get stuck in this mentality of having to play gw2. Dungeons were ignored for years, we still played them. Fractals get trashed, we still play them. Why? So we can get some stupid digital skin? You’re missing the point of gaming if you’re feeling bored.

Don’t worry OP, anet said they are going to give harder fractals better exp rewards so you can level up your tyria mastery faster. That should fix it. Even though everyone already maxed out tyria mastery via COF, I am confident new tyria masteries will be released totally making this meaningful. \s

Yh op it’s pretty bad. I continue to hope that anet will make a repeatable fractal achievement for fractals 1-100. I don’t think anet will ever successfully balance rewards, but if every fractal had a unique reward as part of a repeatable meta achievement, then every fractal would be worthwhile. Well…as long as the achievement had a GOOD (non-account bound) reward.

Condi reaper is better then condi berserker at small hitboxes, and slightly worse than a perfect engineer, which you cant find anyways. Condi Reaper got buffed very much, seems like people need a Dnt guide to see whats strong and whats not and kick out everything that Dnt is not running

neat. glad to hear it, I always thought necro should have been a good condi class. What conditions does reaper have to do damage with? Bleeds from scepter? Dhuumfire for burn? Chill to do damage too?

Good:
1.) The difficulty (including the timer).
2.) The fact the bosses are large enough to see through all the visual clutter.
3.) The fact I can use raids to gear up my alts. As a fairy class restrictive game mode, it is good that we can gear up our alts. If everyone has a dps, condi dps, and a healer, it is much faster to fill those slots.

Bad:
1.) Stupidly restrictive ascended armor drops. RNGesus chooses the armor class and piece for you. I got a heavy chest from sabetha, needed light boots. Why are we still doing this? An ascended drop should be exciting, not disappointing.
2.) Shard cap limit. I like spoj’s idea that the cap only applies to fails and not to wins.
3.) Bad dc handling. Dc’s

I have only managed to beat the gaurdian (first boss) so that’s all I can speak about here. But I think the timer adds a lot to the fight.

For example, when he places down his blue aoes, you could dodge out right away, but then your stuck not dpsing for quite a long time. Knowing that your up against the clock incentivizes you to be riskier, waiting till the last second to dodge out.

For the green circles, you could send all your dps characters over there to make sure that even if a player cant make it, the party doesn’t wipe. But the timer forces you to be riskier. Sending 4 (as an example), and then if even one player is downed the party will wipe.

When he splits into 3 guards, you could just have everyone stay in their respective zone, to avoid the pulsing damage from the mobs your not color attuned to. But because time is of the essence, once your mob dies, you run to the next one to help. Entering a high risk scenario.

A lot of players seem to like to claim that an enrage timer is ‘artificial difficulty’. I disagree. If the only thing I had to do was slap on some zerker gear but play exactly the same, then sure. But that’s not the case. The timer fundamentally changes how you fight in a good way.

I don’t know. They are definitely useful tools in the right hands. Then again, people love to oversimplify so much. Trying to rank your teammates off a single number is clearly a fools errand.

I think we could have a middle ground. Instead of dps meters, what if at the end of the fight, everyone could see time graphs of other useful quantities. Graphs that don’t single out players quite like dps meters, but still provide useful feedback.

For example, a graph showing how many stacks of might on each player throughout the full 8 minute fight. And a binary graph for quickness/fury/alacrity/etc. And a graph of vulnerability stacks on the boss throughout the fight.

I feel like these would be much more useful quantities to look at, and would actually allow the team to pinpoint what needs to be worked on. The only question is, could anet actually collect that data in real time and give us those graphs?

Grats op. I have a question. Do you have to beat the first boss everytime you want to get to the second boss now? It seems likely to be the case, I just want to confirm there isn’t something like, leyline rifts let you teleport to the second boss or something like that.

Did you even try playing the raids? Or did you give up as soon as you saw the timer? Raids are absolutely fantastic now, and that timer adds so much to it. Yes, you have to wear glass armor, that’s gw2. That’s been gw2 for years. It’s nothing new.

But the absolute urgency. The fact that every second your not engaging the boss your losing precious time….its fantastic!

Raids are awesome right now. Please Pleaes Please don’t cave to the demands to make them easy. Players who want easy content have like 25+ dungeons and a lot of fractals (just fix rewards….).

The only critique I have, is that there should be an lfg for them. Everyone claims anet wants to discourage pugging….lol. Isn’t that how they felt about dungeons 3 years ago? Players just go to map chat, or make a seperate lfg anyways. Players are going to pug whether you make it convenient or not.

I can honestly say, the maybe 5 people I’ve added to gw2 that I don’t know from real life, I met all of them in pugs.

Firstly, what part of “I’ve earned half of the gold on my own” don’t you understand?

I understand it completely. You earned half the gold. Hopefully you did it playing in a style you enjoy and having fun. I once had such opportunities. Then anet went out of their way to kill content I enjoy playing(dungeons) and accidentally hurt the other content I enjoy (fractals).

Secondly, if me having made that request actually offends you in any way, shape or form, I apologize.

It in no way offends me. I am happy you can play this game the way you wish to play it. If that means begging for some gold while also earning gold from fractals (which is what I gather from your other posts), good for you. I am happy for you, you get to play the stuff you like. The question I have to ask though, is why your so happy I can not do the same? Anet could have just left dungeons alone, and you could simply ignore them, and I could keep playing. We both could have been happy.

Thirdly, yes. I am in fact happy dungeons are a thing of the past. And if you actually think I’m “gloating” or being abusive because of that, you probably haven’t been on this forum for long. Or only started reading them recently.

I am fully aware of how some players on this forum are. That doesn’t change what your doing. Not every player in here was like that. But now my content is killed, and your happy about it.

I love how your in here saying how great it is that dungeons got nerfed while simultaneously begging for 670 gold in other threads.

Given that I’ve posted this request in the “Gifting Strangers” thread, haven’t run a single dungeon in 2 years (due to the general toxicity of the community, as demonstrated by your very post), and earned half of the requested gold myself already by running fractals and ascended material crafting… what was the point of your post again, other than trying to be insulting?

Edit: I probably should update my post in that thread though, so thank you for reminding me.

I love how I’m representative of the ‘toxic’ dungeon community when I have never kicked someone for gear, never once kicked someone for their class, and actively argue with party members who do that garbage. But go ahead call me ‘toxic’. It is easier to put someone into a single word category than to actually know them.

The point of my post is to point out how selfish your mentality is. You seem to like to just be given rewards, without working towards them (why else beg?). That’s fine. I think we all do to an extent. But some players who like actively working towards a goal by playing a portion of the game got their favorite content nerfed, and your happy about it. Not just happy, but actually rubbing it in their faces, and gloating. Its a typical case of, ‘everyone should be forced to play like me’.

If anet ever removed gifting, and you made a thread asking for it back, I would totally support you, because I want you to be able to play how you want (even though it’s not the way I play). But anet stopped me from playing how I want, and your happy about it. Worse yet, your actively gloating about it.

Essentially nomads lets you ignore boss mechanics, the same way zerker lets you ignore boss mechanics in dungeons. It shouldn’t be possible to ignore boss mechanics.

That’s overstating things a bit. Nomad’s would not let you ignore the multiple raid wiping attacks that ignore defenses. Gorseval alone has several I’ve heard. We have to damage walls quick enough to get out of the arena to avoid an insta-death attack. Some of his spirits need to be DPSed to prevent damage increases (soft-enrage). Some of his spirit’s need to be damaged to avoid insta-wipe.

Well point taken, but it still lets you ignore some mechanics.

How i build my characters shouldn’t be decided by anyone or anything else other then myself.

No body is forcing you to do anything. They are simply choosing not to play with you because you do not enjoy playing the game the same way they do. I recommend making your own squad that does not have gear requirements.

Simply put EVERYONE paid for HOT expansion so EVERYONE should be given equal rights to experiencing all content we paid for.As raids stand now this is not the case

Everyone has access to the same content. Players who adapt to it and beat it get rewards, players who do not adapt do not. Everything is fair. What isn’t fair is demanding that content be tailored to you.

Also, enrage timers are good. If you run completely pure tank builds, the damage done by bosses is so low your not required to actually use active defenses. Essentially nomads lets you ignore boss mechanics, the same way zerker lets you ignore boss mechanics in dungeons. It shouldn’t be possible to ignore boss mechanics.

oh, we are. But we sure ain’t happy about it, especially ArenaNet lying to everyone. Some of us were actually looking forward to trying out our custom raid gear setup only to discover you got to swap back to your dungeon armor.

And after you had make that custom armor then what? Are you going to make a custom set of armor for every single raid wing? Or are you going to re customize it in the mystic forge every week for the raids? Are you ever going to think about it again?

omg could we just stop with this garbage. Just craft your armor, equip it, and do what normal humans do: enjoy the game never thinking about it again. Seriously, why is the prefix on your armor so interesting to you? The core of your build is your traits/utilities/weapon choices anyways, not some passive stat bonus.

Guild Raid Testing

Personally so happy that DnT are finally being publically recognized for the arrogant negative influence they have on the community. (Ignoring Nemesis’ comments here before anyone jumps on that bandwagon) DnT have been providing guides that have simplified the mindset of the community into Zerker! Zerker! Zerker! without consideration for the necessary support that is actually required to support this.

FIrst of all, every guide they publish is full of group support. Don’t know what your talking about here. Maybe your too stuck in the mentality that group support has to be healing.

Second. Negative impact? Last I checked, DnT was a guild actually hosting community events such as the trio tournaments. Something Anet couldn’t even bother to post a single message about. Meanwhile anet throws how much money at pvp tournaments #esports? Remember when brazil was in DnT and he made videos actively trying to make non ‘meta’ classes more accepted? When he specifically spoke out against exclusion of players, and generally preached that any class was good enough,so just having fun? Remember when they speed ran with a ranger? Or a necro? Even though they don’t always agree with nemesis I see nothing but helpful behavior on their own forums towards him (http://www.dtguilds.com/forum/m/6563292/viewthread/23381991-lf-elementalist-icebow-lupicus-solo). And even recently, when there is endless complaining about the dungeon nerf and fractal nerf, the majority of Nike’s posts are related to actual content (https://forum-en.gw2archive.eu/members/NikeEU-7690/showposts) rather than just endlessly pushing the gloomy atmosphere in this subforum, even if admittedly sometimes he is confrontational.

I can’t say whether I approve or not of their handling of raids, I don’t have all the facts. But I can say that your belief that they have had a negative impact on the game is not at all obvious to me.

Well I mostly got that impression from this:

dissolving your face in acid.

Hardly difficult to get a good pug. All I did was type this in map chat,“who wants to try raids? Must join my teamspeak”. And then I talked to them.

I think there is a lot of confirmation bias when it comes to pugs. What about the guardian who pops aegis perfectly on diviner? The necro that uses his blind field perfectly in the city fractal? The thief that knows where to drop his smoke fields in the arah p2? No one ever notices good players.
