My last post was directed at:
The people saying “we’re so much better than NSP and IOJ.” Guess what? We’re not.
The people sitting in LA whining about losing in WvW. Maybe you should be constructive with that time.
The people attacking southern towers instead of defending keeps, or standing and watching our walls get trebbed, or headbutting gates instead of learning how to be useful. Numbers are a big deal, but they’re not the sole factor in a matchup, and DH needs to learn that. Just ask the zerg that I saw 5 SPCA wipe last night while I was trebbing. (You know where they went afterward? LA. We didn’t get the doorless keep.)

I like Darkhaven. But some of the things I’ve seen and heard this week have turned my stomach.

Every time you post a video, I watch it with dread, expecting myself to get flattened on national television. I’m glad it hasn’t happened yet! (but kind of jealous, too) :p

It doesn’t matter if there’s an alliance, it doesn’t matter if DH has lower numbers than usual. We’re losing. Excuses are a disservice to all involved. Casting blame is the way of the scrub, and leads to complacency. Roll with it, LEARN from it, and improve. Anyone who thinks DH is on a level to compete with AR or SBI when we still have performances like this is poisoning the well.

“I’m bored with this matchup” doesn’t cut it. Excellence is a habit, not an outcome.

NSP brought a lot of people to our Bay today, so I was forced to demoralize them. All evidence points to my flameboat being the tide turner. Many Peakers were witnessed throwing down their weapons and crying for mercy at this fearsome sight.

I’ve heard both sides, and I’m curious what public opinion is on this. Is shadow refuge a bad manner skill to use in duels, or is it considered legit?

At the time they were using them at Briar, there probably weren’t many people on the map and they were just messing around. Most of us left around 1am PST.

How dare you? We would have wiped the map if they hadn’t been hacking. Honest. That golem push should have been unstoppable. (golems are srs bsns)

Sorry for the moral high-handery here, but I gotta get this out. I am so tired of invis-spam thieves who only jump in a fight when they already have numbers advantages so they can backstab with no risk. I really do try to be respectful ingame, but I think I hit some kind of breaking point today. For anyone else bringing that crap at me, I’m going to grief the kitten out of you.

In fact it’s somewhat laughable you guys aren’t crushing us with the numbers you pull during your prime and during EU hours. It’s become quite obvious NSP is only interested in running karma traints and flipping towers DH took recently for easy ppt and is not in the least bit interested in any form of tactic besides zerging.

I’m inviting SF to do the same. Frankly i think if both servers kinda just redirected their torches and pitchforks torwards DH whenever possible, next week should be a lot more interesting.

I know how it goes—not everyone’s gonna know about this, not everyone’s gonna listen, or care, or maybe they’re just happier doin’ their own thing. That’s fine. All i’m asking is plz direct your nut-punching energy towards DH and not each other most of the time.

As of this post I know of about 4-5 other IoJ commanders that are regulars that are agreeing to it. Should shake up next week pretty good

edit and if some SF commanders wouldn’t mind talkin’ to me in-game or whatnot, i’ll try to relay stuff to other commanders as much as possible. And just to clarify this isn’t gonna be like…planned operations or using the same teamspeak or any of that funky kitten…just a general mindset of “let’s both punch DH in the kitten”

Yep, your ranger. This was last night (for me, don’t know what your timezone is) in IOJ BL around your northeast camp and tower. In all the weeks we’ve been matched up together, I’ve only seen your guardian a couple times. Ships passing in the night, I guess.

And I agree about being amazed at some peoples’ abilities in WvW/PvP. Maybe this makes me a noob, but it seems like every night there’s a couple people that just blow me away with their reactions or innovation or perception. Tonight it was an asura engi from [Solo]. You beat me straight up, whoever you are. I hope you don’t mind that I ran away before you staked me, but the victory was clearly yours. I’d like to fight you again, though; there’s a few things I’d do differently next time. PM me if you’re ineterested, I’m usually available if I’m not doing something important and I’m always looking to learn.

PS, IOJ: You came into this matchup with the highest ranking. Congratulations, welcome to first place. Get used to having two servers aiming at you.

I asked because I personally staked you three times tonight right in front of your army. I wouldn’t have been too happy about that if I were you, but that’s probably why you have the pin and I don’t. You just kept coming until you ran us out of there. I admire your resolve.

I’m curious, Starkk, and I hope you don’t mind the question. When you charge at the head of your zerg into a smaller enemy force and your troops are slow to follow, leading to your staking, do you rail at them in mapchat or just accept it as the hidden price of that commander pin? I ask because the common response to that by (certain) commanders on my server seems to be “see ya I’mma go to EB now,” but I’ve seen you persevere through it a number of times.

Back in the DH/GoM/NSP matchup, a group of XOXO took our north camp and proceeded to build a treb to fire on the power orbs. I popped out of the doorway to citadel to say hi, but being alone, I couldn’t hope to take back the camp. A female norn (guard, I think?) walked over to me and started dancing. I moved away from the doorway and bowed to her, hoping to get a fight. She took off her pants and kept dancing. I bowed again. It was about this time that two of her thief friends jumped me from behind.

Pretty sure I remember standing inside all three of your keeps. But maybe age is just catching up to me.

I’ve been having a great time in WvW lately. I’ve run into a lot of good fights, and even though I end up dead a lot of the time, challenging myself has proven to be a lot of fun. Also, the number of enjoyable opponents has greatly outnumbered the scrubs who /laugh and /dance on my body after they win a 10v2. I’ve even had a chance to meet a few of you “enemies,” and you’re as friendly as you are talented.

I’m not a guild leader or a commander, so I don’t speak for my server. But as for myself, I won’t be unhappy anytime DH draws either NSP or SF in the future. Good luck to all of you in future matchups, and I hope to get a chance to spar with a few of you before we part ways again.

I would also kill to hear what was going on in your VOIP during all that, even though I know that will probably never happen. I’m always interested to hear how different groups handle those situations. (besides the obvious “ignore that purple chick, she’s useless”)
I knew we were in for some fun when your first group of 5 held your own against our initial ~10. My official excuse is that you had some monster tanks, a ton of guard shouts, and we had a few uplevels. Still, though. I already told Purimm your group was impressive, and I mean it. Every time I’ve run into you SPLT/SPCA guys, I’ve had a good time.

Why would you walk a golem there from your Hills instead of using portals?

I’m amazed, though. This matchup is only 3+ days old and I’ve already fought two NSP rangers that are better than any I’ve seen in months. Is your entire server sharing the supersecret “boss ranger” setup or what?

I finally got my mesmer into WvW this last week. It’s a very unique class to play, and I’ve been adjusting to it slowly, but it’s a lot of fun. I’ve run into you in a few smaller group settings and thoroughly enjoyed the encounters, especially that 3v3 a couple nights ago just north of the center island on one of the borderlands (your guild’s asura bunker engi was hell to bring down). Our duel tonight I enjoyed much less. Though I did get exactly what I’d expect with the massive difference in our experience levels, and it made my shortcomings even clearer (especially positioning, and blink+invis use). On a selfish note, it’s too bad we’re not keeping this wvwvw matchup a while longer so I could come back and find you again in another week or two when I’m hopefully a little less scrubby.

The main reason I’m posting, though, is to seek your opinion on the difference between mainhand sword and scepter. Right now, I’m thinking sword has an edge in raw damage and gives that nice invuln, but scepter really allows mesmers to utilize their mobility and clones much more effectively (plus, dat confu). I hardly ever see a mesmer running mainhand sword. You’ve said that any class with any build can dominate in the right hands, which I love and agree with, and I know you’ve used it in the past, but do you really think sword can approach the advantages of a scepter? I am not going to give up my blade, but I am trying to get a view of how high the hill I need to climb is.

You misunderstand. Every time I log on WvW, I hear my own servermates complaining about the zoomhackers in SF/IoJ. Many of them have logs of screens and “proof.” I’m not hurt that I’m being lumped in with hackers; I’m tired because people are blatantly ignoring common sense and QQ’ing about it on the public forums. There’s a time and a place, and this is neither. Go through proper channels or send private communications to guild leaders; stop wasting space here.

Oh, and congratulations on being a level 50 fractal runner, I guess?

I think the guard from my side may have been rezzed, but I actually WP’d and ran back. That’s what happens when your dps depends on retaliation and block/burn. I had to change tactics for round 2 and focus on dropping your own reinforcements before hitting you again. It was a fun fight, for sure, but I don’t think I’d enjoy taking you 1v1. You’d either smash me or it would go for twenty minutes.

Fought a small group of SF between dredge and Wildcreek a short time ago. One of you was playing a self-heal guard that seemed pretty similar to Dawnheart’s build. You, sir, are exceeeeeedingly annoying. Well fought. (sorry I don’t remember guild names)

We have to keep this pace (possible but unlikely) AND EBay has to continue at their pace over BP/AR (similarly unlikely). It could happen. I’d guess that nobody’s cracking the t5 barrier for a couple more weeks yet, though.

SF would roflstomp DR and make lemonade out of their tears. And DR saw that coming a mile away, hence the afking for 5 days out of our last matchup to flee into T7, with a smug flip of a certain finger to Dark Isle of Janthaven.

Can you imagine what it would be like in this thread if IOJ had moved down instead? DR would be apoplectic about Zerghaven and Sorrow’s Zergace zerging all over their keeps, and complaining how neither of our servers have a single player that can kill a veteran without twenty friends for backup.
