Ah yes, I love how when no one has rebuttal to your disagreement you are called a “troll”.
Well done, you’ve proven your post has no worth.
Some of us do not want Guild Wars 1 again. Build Wars was an exercise in patience, and if you didn’t fit to an exact build copy you were shunned from groups and PvP.
If you really believed the PvP was so amazing, I need only point out the JQ bomber spec, completely invalidating any and all tactics needed for that specific BG. There was a spec like this for every arena, ruining any fun you could actually get out of the PvP end game into something so simple a bot could do it.
You seem to find yourself overly important. This is both amusing, and sad.
Writing big posts about how you’re doing all the work, while ignoring any form of criticism unless it’s in point-by-point form to argue your drivel does not make you any more intelligent than the average complaint thread posted every minute.
This is not Guild Wars 1. The system has depth, you are just choosing to ignore it because it’s not the depth you wanted.
To put this in short form, lrn2play and rtfm.
Actually, he’s right. You did ignore his point.
He said that you want Guild Wars 1, and this is not it. This is a different game.
Someone doesn’t need to write out an essay to tell that this clearly isn’t the game you were looking for.
Also, the devs have their hands full with the current amount of trait/skill/gear combinations and balance. Your idea is too farfetched to even blink an eye at.
Guild Wars 1 had a multitude of useless skills that no one used, and you’d be laughed out of groups and serious PvP if you brought them.
There was no “100 different ways to makes a protection monk”, there was 4 variations.
The devs realized this, and just cut down the amount of skills. Now you choose between specs and weapons to support specs. This is not Guild Wars 1.
GW2 is about comboing skills for maximum ouput. WoW is about pressing skill 1 for “BIG NUMBERS” and skill 2 for “BIG DEFENSE”.
People who honestly believe sPvP is about zerging are the same people who run alone into 8 people when the rest of the team is capping the other two points.
Zerging is the worst tactic in sPvP with the easiest counter.
They’re in Elona.
Krytans are not black, they are mediterranean. Kryta is mostly Ascalonians, and Krytans, with a handful of Canthans and Elonians.
I do find it funny that the Norn have more black characters than the humans, and it’s a bit more out of place for them.
We should be allowed to dye these things with the dyes we have unlocked.
This is very unlikely to happen, due to the rating on the game and the aforementioned concern about making characters look nude.
I think the best we can hope for is a small palette of obviously-not-skin colors.
Well, there’s already a bug in game that allows characters to go full on barbie doll nude.
I highly doubt this is as big an issue as you’re making it out to be. Coloring underwear doesn’t even show up on the ESRB’s radar.
So tired of developers releasing MMORPGs without basic features that have become staple to the genre.
Posted by: veritech.1048
By “staple to the genre” do you mean “it’s in WoW, so it must be in everything else”?
Because if so, you are sorely mistaken. The dungeon finders in WoW also killed any form of community that game had.
Never had broken armor?
no, I repair it when it’s needed so it’s never been totally broken.
300 hours of game play and you haven’t done a single diving jump? I call shenanigans.
she’s wearing her armor underwater and no, I’m not staring at her panties, I really don’t care what color they are.
FYI I’m not some horny teenager. Try to grow up please.
That’s nice.
I’m a horny 25 year old. It’s called being a guy.
That still doesn’t change the fact that you have never done a dive, where you put on diver goggles and it strips your character naked. This is also an issue with hair accessories. We should be allowed to dye these things with the dyes we have unlocked.
300 hours of game play and you haven’t done a single diving jump?

I find it funny that there are players who would deny that anything could ever go wrong in this game. You see it in every post, good or bad.
Sometimes there are issues that need to be addressed. You can’t just stick your head in the sand and say “No that’s not true!”
Ya he is not bad at all it just from what I’ve seen people was expecting the Personal story to focus on their characters to be some kind of Chosen One who units all and Saves all and becomes so grand hero of legends that people would tell story about him or her and build statues of their character.
Uh, no. Abso-bloody-lutely not.
The overarching theme of Guild Wars 2 is supposed to be the fight against the Elder Dragons. Epic battles and epic storyline call for epic leadership. I would have raved fighting under Master Riel Darkwater or Preceptor Doern Velazquez. Instead, what is presented are cutscenes involving a turnip with a tweedy accent who probably should have sang the role of Cossette from Les Miserables. I would have been absolutely furious (and probably more so) if the pendulum was swung the other way and my Norn had streets named after him in Ebonhawke, mead named after him in Hoelbrak, et cetera.
After Claw Island, the instances are canned, badly written hack events where a player can either faceroll through them with ease or gets one-shot the moment aggro is triggered. Any and all NPCs where emotional involvement is encouraged (i.e. Tybalt, Apatia, Hekja) are killed off relentlessly and then dumped out of the personal storyline. Trahearne is the face of this rubbish because his appearance coincides with the downward spiral of an already dodgy personal storyline, and he’s there all the way for the roller coaster ride of fail until he fobs the task of taking down Zhaitan onto the player.
The worst aspect of this entire debacle is that there will likely be no significant changes other than hp/dmg/aggro tweaks to mobs and event triggers within instances, rather than an unequivocal return to the drawing board, which means as expansions appear it will be a resumption of the personal storyline with more appearances by Marshal Vegemite or another NPC as contrived and unbearable.
As flippant as it may sound, a Quaggan as God-Emperor of Tyria would be boss compared to what rubbish this personal storyline under this potted plant has been.
I like the cut of your jib.
Personally I was hoping for a Norn solution to killing a dragon. One on one, I rip that dragon’s head off.
Here’s looking at you Jormag.
Is there some hidden secret switch left in this mission? I’ve tried kiting thekittenboss, I’ve tried to keep him permanently stunned. Nothing works when he has turrets that come out of the box overcharged.
Considering most classes are absolutely kittened underwater, and a thief does fine, I think it’s safe to say that underwater combat for them is working as intended.
I’m pretty sure you guys would figure out how to justify the end mission of the human circus storyline with 3 veterans and a champion that you’re supposed to solo. One of the veterans has perma stun and knockback.
Sometimes, when there is a problem, there is in fact a problem and your defense force mentality isn’t helping. It’s like the SWTOR forums all over again.
That’s why they call it game balance.
It’s never fun to run in circles just to kill a mob.
Just because you play a 5sig warrior baby doesn’t mean a thief or mesmer faces a far more difficult battle for every engagement, no matter how well you know the class.
The fact that most of the missions require you to rez and repeat multiple times is an indication that the difficulty level is too high.
That’s a fact only for you and OP. Not all the player. I’m very cassual and didn’t find problems complete all of the personal history. Sorry but you are simple lazy. Did you view/read any guide of your class? Did you discuss in the forum about good build/strategy? No. You want an easy personal history just because you die a lot without making anything to improve your gamestyle. Sorry but this game is not for you. Baldurd’s Gate is Difficult, Dark Souls is difficult. GW2 Explorable Mode Dungeons Are difficult.. Personal historyline is OK.
I’m a thief with toughness and vitality, using sword/pistol and shortbow.
Every mission I’ve completed so far has resulted in me being overwhelmed through an AOE blind, and needing to kite around with my shortbow using cluster bomb just to dent the number of enemies. Queue Benny Hill music for a proper visual.
Like I said, your input on this is null unless you show your build, because I don’t really believe you.
I am, however, glad to hear some missions are being fixed but it’s really not enough when most of them have difficulty scaling issues.
The cost of Flanking Strike, to the crap damage does not justify the removal of a boon.
All other dual skills other than unload had boatloads more utility.
OP said that range has it easier than melee.
You all went out of your way to try and explain to OP how to play melee, by using combos/abilities/toughness, when his point was range doesn’t need to do any of that stuff to be effective.
I have no problem with any of the personal quest. And i’m a necromancer, the most bugged/broken class in the game( for some )
Thank you for your input, please tell the rest of us what build and storyline you chose so that we can learn from your awesome.
Here I am again, with yet another mission that my character cannot complete, this time it’s Armaments from the choose your order storyline.
Did someone really think it was a good idea to put in a monster that can global me?
This isn’t the first time, either, and yet there has been no confirmation from the devs that this is in fact a problem. This isn’t just a problem with a couple of ridiculous missions, it’s a problem with all of the missions. They are all too hard. You were told about this during the beta weekends and did nothing to fix it, other than tone down the difficulty of the end boss during your intro to the game.
This needs to be fixed, as of right now there’s no reason to do personal quests unless you can somehow glitch the AI or bring in a couple of friends. If that was your intended design, then it’s a horrible failure.
The sword has weakness on auto.
Trahearne, student of Kormir is a mary sue because your story turns into “Trahearne’s Personal Diary, All Accomplished By Me”.
Even when you do things Trahearne still gets all the credit.
Just like Kormir. Stealing my godhood.
But it does have a blind/daze. It’s a lot more fun to watch your enemies flounder around because they can’t do anything.
Sword has more control than a dagger, by a long shot, and has more movement and survivability.
Really, even if they fixed the pathing issue of flanking strike it’s far too useless still. It’s the worst of all of our dual skills. I suggested Nine Tail Strike because it’s far less situational and still fits the theme they seemed to want with sword/dagger. It’s a counter attack with a block and several hits if you block. You can also stop the block mid-action to regain the initiative spent using the ability.
That one ability is so good it makes me love playing Capricorn and just defending the ruin, just so I can use it. It’s more utility than anything flanking strike could ever offer.
I need specific information to know which story step to look at.
- Your current story step
- Your current objective
- Your character’s class and level
- Any specifics on the issue (too many enemies at once, tough boss, confusing objective, etc.)
Every mission.
Every single one.
Some classes have only one viable PvE solo build, so they have no choice but to graveyard rush.
How am I supposed to get survivor achievements as a thief when my only viable build is good for 1v2 at the max and missions throw 20 enemies around like it’s normal.
It’s clear what they wanted to do, they wanted battles to feel massive. The problem is they give you mobs of equal level with powerful abilities in waves, and it’s too much to deal with.
I love sword/dagger, more so than sword/pistol, but I can’t stand Flanking Strike. It either needs to work better, or switched out. I’d prefer Nine-tailed Strike honestly, it’s got much more damage and defense potential than a broken dodge.
I’m not sure how much more individual the norn can get, there’s even a norn author inside the hall of raven.
Perhaps you’re basing the entire opinion of the norn around 3 characters, and not the whole story. Their NPC banter is actually well done.
This thread has nothing to do with the NPC banter. It’s the cutscene-driven personal story that we’re having problems with. I’m not sure how you could miss that after 80+ posts.
And it’s not a matter of “oh my god, the norn all act the same way!!” It’s the fact that every single character from every single storyline acts the exact same way, and we, as players, have no say in our own characters’ reactions. This just happens to stick out more sorely in some racial storylines than others.
Then to answer you in a more simple fashion, since you feel the need to ignore the underlying parts of a story: yes, all norn act that way.
The story was a neat edition, they weren’t trying to make the next Baldurs Gate.

I think most of the people complaining about the norn never played GW1, they are that cheesy.
Their entire society is based off of who is the most awesome, and who can kill bigger creatures better.
For any difficulty issue (or bug, or any comment on a particular story step) please provide the name of the quest, your current objective, your class, and level. There are hundreds of different story steps, so I need specifics to know which one to look at. (Just remembering an NPC or moment in the step doesn’t help, either, since many appear in multiple branches.)
This is a problem with every story quest. It’s very obvious the only balancing was done for guardians and warriors using greatswords to spam things to death.
You need to tone it down on a general scale.
