Axe/axe does have its uses, mainly for its ability to cleave multiple mobs all around you. Its useful if your defending on the 1-4 robot part in CoE P1,

Easiest way to do that is to just stand in front of the panel and mash auto attack with Axe, don’t really need any other skills.

Yay! Selectable weapon box is a great change

In the end people don’t get these skins to show off, nobody goes aroud looking at other people’s gear. People get the gear mostly for themselves. To make their character look the way they want to.

totally false….

Ac skins are awesome…. Nobody use them
Zenith skins are really cool……nobody wants them

Arah skins are quite ugly….. so many people uses them….
Lliadri is an awful mini….. really popular

Nope, there are plenty of people like me who just want skins for the look, showing off is irrelevant.

AC skins don’t fit with my characters, so I don’t use any of them.
I use Zenith skins on several characters.
Arah skins are not ugly on my necro.
I use the holo colossus instead of my Liadri, but why is Liadri awful? Looks fine to me.

I could try to ‘show off’ with green or yellow SAB weapons, but I haven’t used my tokens, because other skins fit my characters better.

Why do you assume your personal tastes are some kind of universal standard? Why do you project your own desires onto others?

Petty nonsense?
Completely ignoring the whole point of the vote is a bit more than “petty nonsense”.

Those people got their candidate, the WP costs, and the Thaumanova reactor fractal was released first.

Fractal is hardly the whole point of the vote. Many people didn’t even care about the fractal.

Politicians sometimes implement policies suggested by their past opponents.

And more importantly, you are a terrible person: you want to make the situation zero-sum because you blow the significance of an in-game vote way out of proportion.

How about compromise, and not winner-takes-all?

Why should people ever think ArenaNet would every listen to the community again if they pulled something like this?

For one, they actively solicit feedback on the forums, such as what I am offering right now. And I’ve seen them take positive action on feedback provided over the past year.

Would they not be listening to the Abaddon voters by implementing the fractal at a later time? The minority doesn’t just cease to exist because the vote went one way, “community” is not a monolithic thing, it is a group of individuals.

Well, those people got their candidate, the WP costs, and the Thaumanova reactor fractal was released first. The future of the game has been affected.

Except the chances of all pugs being able to dodge is extremely low.

Not really, I think you overestimate the difficulty of the content and you underestimate the skill of the average pug. At least from my experience.

And hitting like paper is rather far from the truth.

Compared to a proper DPS build, you are very weak.

Yes it would be nice if everyone could run max dps and just be as amazing as you however that is rarely the case and usually most dungeon groups that aren’t “COF SPEED RUN LINK GEAR OR KICKED” require at least one tank.

There’s not a single dungeon path in this game that requires a tank. I’ve had plenty of pug runs with no tanky people, and they were great.

And this isn’t about just support only no deeps builds. Its about builds that have options to easily up group damage (BANNERS!) or increase group survive (Healing turret/spring, empower guard hammer) without really sacrificing anything and still refuse to do it.

I agree on banners, because they are universally better than signets in a team, but I don’t expect teammates to bring team survival skills. Survival is the individual’s responsibility; we are given all the tools we need to survive without help from others. The healing skills you mention aren’t so clear cut, perhaps the ranger/engi wants a burstier self-heal with lower cooldown. Can’t assume that someone will blast your water field at the right time, or at all.

I expect teammates to bring good DPS, offensive buffs, and situationally effective skills such as boon strips or CC or reflects(combined offense and defense), in that order of importance. I don’t expect everyone to run full zerker max DPS builds, but I prefer to see them lean towards that direction instead of defensive support.

I’m not going to optimize my build for delaying the deaths of bad players. You will slow down good and decent runs and contribute less, and your bad runs will still be bad and inefficient.

I’d rather take a full signet zerk warrior than your weak guardian in a dungeon run. Your damage sucks, and your support is unnecessary when everyone can dodge.

I could argue that it’s selfish for you to run an inefficient feel-good support build that hits like paper, slowing the group down and wasting their valuable time.

The goal is to finish content quickly and get your rewards, not to do support/team stuff for the sake of doing support/team stuff.

People are SO lazy that something EXTREMELY trivial becomes possibly a HUGE hassle, that wipes the entire group. THAT is the issue, here.
It’s not meant to be done to begin with, so why not fix it, and save some people some time and energy? To MAYBE spare you 30 seconds of your day, and so that you don’t need to pay attention? Oh, screw off.

Well, that’s not so much laziness, but people mindlessly following what they see others do, without understanding why…

I’ve had the worst pug experiences in AC…

I don’t see what’s wrong with spider queen though, you still have to dodge/block or manage conditions consistently throughout the fight. It’s a tradeoff, you can more easily avoid the immobilize and bite from range, but must deal with the poison AOE.

Your problem lies with people who don’t think, not the mechanic of stacking.

What would be your ‘solution’ to this ‘problem’? It really just sounds like you want to range everything, since your argument really boils down to an anti-melee argument.

Sort of tangential, but I don’t think GW2 currently has enough build complexity such that anyone could be considered a build “chef”. For every class, only a handful of builds make any sense, and they’re fairly obvious IMO.

So I am against putting in mechanics which other players can use to grief and block the progress of others in the game. But since there is a workaround its ok and there’s nothing wrong with it at all….

Killing buffed champs in Kessex Hills is a beneficial coincidence, not something you are absolutely entitled to from the start.

Going to any of the other maps is not a ‘workaround’, it’s a clearly intended method for you to get that achievement. If buffed monsters were limited to champs in Kessex hills, then your position would have more merit.

The achievement is not a requirement for PvE progress, you can skip it and still get the krait obelisk. You are not blocked in any way.

You can easily solve your own minor ‘problem’, but instead you complain and expect everyone else to accommodate you (killing champs before they get the buff is bad, Anet needs to make special instances for achievements).

Thus, contempt.

It is griefing when they do it to prevent others from getting the achievement as I already stated. There should not have to be any workaround. As I said if they are going to have these requirements they can do it for an instanced area and it won’t allow anyone’s progress to be blocked.

But they don’t.
At least not unless they run around and speed kill every single champion and veteran in the whole game at all times.

They might not on your server, but earlier I was there in Kessex on ours and there was a group going around doing just that. And as I said some of the players only have small windows to play the game. Their progress should not be blocked by others.

Does Kessex Hills count as the whole game?

You just have a terribly inflexible mind. There are paths available, but you refuse to take them and complain about being blocked.

Why do you even need the achievement? Just do dailies and skip that one if you think it’s so much trouble.

I’m not even opposed to a change in your favor, but I have nothing but contempt for your kind of thinking.

In every mmo it is important for the developer to not introduce mechanics which can be used to grief.

What you pointed out is not griefing though.

What if other players don’t care about the buff and just want the champ bag? Why should they wait for you?

As others pointed out, you can simply go to other maps and kill veterans/champs there.

What is prestige according to you? And acquiring weapon skins just by doing a hard content? EVERYONE will have that “prestige” skin of yours within few days

An item has ‘prestige’ if it shows player skill, shown by completing something difficult. Proper execution, good judgment with skills and positioning, twitch reflexes, etc. Not brute repetition.

As I mentioned before, I think SAB Tribulation weapons are better example of ‘prestige’ item than fractal skins.

For example, legendaries are just money grinds right now, there is no ‘prestige’. Suppose they changed precursor acquisition. To get a precursor, your dungeon party must win an instanced fight against 5 buffed Lupicus + large constant stream of silver adds at the same time. Then there would be some prestige.

If the hard content can be completed by everyone within days, then the content clearly wasn’t hard enough.

And that’s why I see no point in having such low drop rates for fractal skins. Completing fractals 100 times vs 10 times doesn’t show any difference in player skill. The low drop rate merely adds grind, not prestige.

You currently have about 1/166 chances to get the skin you want AT 48!

Do you really want to avoid RNG or you simply want an easy SKIN.

A strange question to ask. People dislike the RNG because the RNG is specifically what makes getting a particular skin excessively time-consuming. I want to avoid the RNG because I want easier skins.

1/166 is a terrible drop rate for the amount of time it takes to complete fractals.

Case 1:
Keep rng as it is and give some new tokens (example 10 at 48 or 3 at 3X and 1 at 2X and require 1660) and when you get the same amount of tokens to compare to 166 lvl 48 runs you get your BOX.

This way you just doubled the chances, get rid of RNG…..and yet you get random skins you could use.

I think that idea’s okay, but I would set the cost at 100 tokens, or at most 150 tokens with your rates instead of 1660, i.e. 10-15 runs of 48.

Case 2:

You want easy skins. Do not write “to mantain prestige and stuff” ….math is clear.
I bet even halving the effort and removing RNG would totally be unacceptable for people here….or am i wrong?

Do not ask to have a skin after few runs at 48 because we already have too many peoples to carry at 48.

Whatever ‘prestige’ Fractal weapons currently have, it’s not from the math or number of runs it takes. I don’t think many people are impressed by others’ tolerance for grinding fractals. All a skin shows now is “this guy did fractal 20+ at least once, he got lucky or grinded”. Nothing more, nothing that’s super impressive.

The player has already proven themselves by completing high level fractals, I really don’t see the need to have such bad probability of getting a specific skin.

Personally, I think the SAB Tribulation mode skins have much more ‘prestige’ than Fractal skins.

And hard to obtain skins are intended since the manifesto…..
FRACTALs are the only rare skin that can’t be bought with gold or real moneys….

Well, the current system is obviously what the developers intended, because that’s what they shipped.

I am providing feedback about what I would like to see instead, because I think the current system doesn’t respect the player’s time and effort. It feels like a relic from older games, something that Anet has already improved upon in other parts of the game.

Oh, how I miss the golden days of DoA… Well, nostalgia is a bitter side product of fun…

I feel like that was probably from necessity. GW1 was generally harder and more build-dependent than GW2, so bad builds often meant total failure (e.g., stuff you simply can’t beat with your current setup, getting kicked out of missions if you wipe), instead of just great inefficiency.

I think peoples are just blowing things way out of whack here, completely over thinking things.

Of course commodities have value. That’s why someone says it was free, I used mats I had (the value I had). Pointless argument over nothing, if some people think that free equals no value; that’s not what people mean. They just mean free, not no value.

So let me mirror your argument.

You spend 10G on an item. But you already had 10G! It’s value you already had. Therefore, the item was free.

I don’t agree, I think:

Even if you don’t plan on selling the mats, this is an objective, impersonal definition of value, and I like objective, impersonal definitions.

Conclusion after reading through thread: farmers will never understand how non-farmers think. To a farmer everything is the gold value and their time is worth what they can get the most gold per minute doing. For the rest, not so much; just is it fun or not.

It’s not a matter of farmers vs. non-farmers. The issue here is that some people draw a strange magic line between money and commodities, saying that only one side has value.

What is the cost of acquiring gold?

Do people not understand the basic concept of “free” anymore? Just because something has a value attached to it does not make it “cost” you when there is zero cost attached to ownership.

If I collect an item, that has no cost attatched in doing so it is free, REGARDLESS of its value.

I think people understand “free” just fine, but you do not understand “cost”.

What you are really spending is time and energy. Gold in the game is a product of your time and energy, just like a crafting material that you gather, or an item that drops.

I recommend either Mace or Warhorn, wave knockdown + vuln is awesome, warhorn can be nice if your party needs vigor and/or extra condition removal (also blast finisher on #5).

The only situation I can think of where shield might be useful is when you’re immobilized and about to get hit by a one-shot attack or big AOE, but most of the time you can get out of that situation with condition removal+dodge or a well-timed GS whirl (or dodging the thing that immobilizes you to begin with).

I don’t like shield for PVE since it does nothing for the party and warrior has many other defensive tools.

I don’t recommend condition builds for PVE, so sword offhand is no good.

Axe offhand is the worst choice IMO.

Lastly since my crit chance is at about 70% (I’m gathering some equipment) shield sinergyze well with Axe burst if you take the trait that grant you 50% crit chance when hit stun enemies.

I feel that trait is more suited for PVP. But if you were to use it in PVE, you’d be better off using mace offhand.

The shield only has a 1s stun on a single target, mace has 2s wave knockdown. Not only that, the mace attack can hit twice, it’s much better.

Swapping out to GS/Longbow is nice for fights against large #s of trash mobs.

For ascended weapons, it seems like the biggest gating factor is getting 500 each of bloodstone/dragonite/empyreal mats to refine for the vision crystal.

The deldrimor ingots and spiritwood planks (time-gated refined materials) are tradeable, so just go buy them if you don’t feel like waiting.
