I am a little confused by this thread. The OP states the topic in the opening post, talking about people apparently don’t think eotm is real wvw, etc……the post comes off as someone who is somewhat new to wvw and eotm. But then, when other posters disagree with the OP, suddenly the OP becomes some sort of ‘expert’ on T1 and how it works, and wvw, yadda, yadda, yadda…….
I don’t know…..smells like a troll post to me.
Been playing EOTM since the start. What about you?
Oh look, EotM guild is up to its usual tricks…. again:
http://www.reddit.com/r/Guildwars2/comments/34qfu1/wvw_is_this_allowed_or_is_it_banned/
With the amount of toxicity and negativity these exploiters generate on a daily basis, I’ve got no idea how they haven’t been banned yet.
And of course, they had someone building ballistas on top the supply depot so we couldn’t get a north arrow cart on our own keep.
They do that… and then threaten to get me banned for throwing trebs on gates. Lol.
That guild loves to mass report people. They’ll try every dirty trick in the good to hide how bad they are.
Yea stealth is terrible. It never should have been in the game.
But Anet loves it so it’ll never get diminished. In fact I wouldn’t be surprised if they make it even more powerful and annoying in the expansion.
Case in point: Did you see how giddy they were when talking about the mass stealth in the Earth Keep in the new BL? I’m sure that’s not the worst of it.
Mark my words soon they will have every profession with a specialization with stealth. Everyone will just be running around invisible. And Anet will think that’s great fun.
So you’d suggest removing a core mechanic from a profession nearly 3 years in, which would mean the entire profession would have to be reworked…
It’s not “Anet loves stealth lol” it’s that every thief would quit the game.
Some things to consider before jumping to conclusions…
1) We get impersonated a ton. People have pretended to be us on both reddit and these forums. There has also been fake guilds using an accent in the guild name to impersonate us. If you believe everything you read and fall for it, that is your fault for being oblivious-not the people trolling us.
2) We get up to 100 recruits per week and have up to 50 people in edge of the mists at a time. They could be any color and between the 5 or so overflows that are open at a time, which is 15 different map chats. It is impossible to admin everyone under these conditions so we can only do so to the best of our ability. You cannot judge an entire guild off of one random person who our officers may not be in the same overflow to catch them doing something wrong. We do accept screen shots and have banned people from our guild as a result of seeing a screen shot or video evidence sent to us.
3) I have never seen anyone in our guild threaten to mass report. That is laughable because it only hurts the people mass reporting. From 2) it’s possible that that happened but, again, I’ve never been given screen shots of it on any of the times I asked the accuser for evidence of that.
4) No one is above our guild rules. If you break the rules, you get punished. It doesn’t matter how good you are. We use our judgement when determining how to approach the situation. It is not necessary to send an announcement to all 500 people in a guild with screenshots when someone gets a warning or kicked. If you don’t trust the people in charge, then you should leave the guild.
5) Most of us do like to karma train. If the game mode was changed to give a win incentive and not be 85% up-levels who just want to get level 80, then who knows-maybe we would have a different mindset. However, not everyone who plays a game mode is going to want to play the same way. If any of our guild members say inappropriate things to someone in the map because they want to play a different way, you can send screen shots to an officer. If you are not in our guild, find someone else in our guild who is not the offender and send them a pm asking for an officer’s name.
You know they’re desperate when they wheel out the propaganda account…
I heard a certain babysitting guild got repeatedly destroyed tonight when BL took FR’s keep. They even brought a golem, and still got demolished
As do I, I have screens of that person being logged on and impersonating two different people with the same account name =) and it is stated in the GW2 rules, that impersonating another is not allowed. You can be sure I reported them with screenshots =)
and again as I said before, I’m no longer in that guild.
This is exactly the same sort of thing we’ve heard again and again. And yet…
http://www.reddit.com/r/Guildwars2/comments/2b5uib/trying_to_get_your_own_side_killed_and_fixing/
There’s a lot more evidence, too. One of your guild officers (I believe he was co-leader at one point) changes his character name every time a new scandal emerges. Your guild is the most toxic thing that’s happened to this game. And I say “your” guild because you claim not to be in the guild anymore, yet you’re defending them on here…
It was the same account name for both people. It was a troll. The two people he impersonated, against the rules of GW2, do not have the account name that those two characters shared. I personally know both of them, and I know it was a troll. The two people he impersonated would not threaten banning. They know Anet doesn’t support them, and they wouldn’t say things like that in team chat.
Funny how your guild pulls the same spiel out every time. “It wasn’t us, it was trolls pretending to be us!”
You do realize there’s evidence of your guild in screenshots and TS recordings doing everything they’ve been accused of…
Ktrains are nice and great loot xp karma ect. I personally didn’t like the fact EOTM guild was threatening people if they didn’t comply. Even when saying we will tag down when you tag up, oh your a troll and will be banned! Anet will ban all you guys because you don’t listen to us! Have to be on tag! if you dare to squirrel on an uplevel you will be banned! Meaning they will use their whole guild to report you. Used to love following EOTM commanders, after being threatened screw them. I’ll listen to their threats when they pay me the amount I spent on this game.
Sadly this sort of thing is nothing new. Myself and others have posted screenshots of the appalling abuse instigated by this guild (the incitement of mass reporting for defending is their favorite tactic) but ArenaNet hasn’t acted beyond closing such threads. That guild’s latest claim is that ArenaNet devs run in their karma trains and thus have “endorsed” anything the guild does, which leads to even more toxic behavior by said guild.
Then you don’t understand my post. I am talking about the full zerg/zerg battles that occur in EOTM and yes they actually happen more often then a some people here think. I am not talking bag hunting guilds here, this is just taking whatever PUGs who happen to show up on the map and running as a team to whatever extent is possible. It is not babysitting, it is making the most of the group you happen to have at the time.
That’s great, but this thread is about the guilds that babysit ktrains and call themselves “bag farmers”.
The only guild shameful enough to babysit ktrains on NA is hammer kult from JQ. Every guild that plays WvW for real thinks they’re a joke.
Yeah, they’re one of the main culprits but sadly there’s a few others too. Often they don’t rep anymore, because obviously it’s a bit embarrassing.
What I like is when we form a party of lvl 80 heavies and act as the spearhead that blasts into the enemy zerg allowing the weaker players/uplevels to play clean up. It isn’t babysitting, it is just a battle tactic. I love it when you shock and awe the enemy so they start to turn tail, it is all over at that point. I don’t belong to a WvW guild so i just do this with PUGs when I have a chance or even by myself as there are usually some fearless players in the zerg that will follow me in..
You mean the enemy “zerg” of about 5-10 people?
I find it funny that most of these so-called “bag hunt” guilds only ever play when they’re Overgrowth, too. They’re often the sort that /laugh at your corpse when they zerg you, but run away from 1v1s or send you abuse when you catch them.
I repeat, if you wanted a challenge in ANY way in Edge of the Mists you’d take on vastly superior numbers by running around just as a guild, or even solo. You wouldn’t babysit ktrains.
Here’s what you’re actually saying when you babysit a ktrain: “I support PvE farmers turning this zone into a PvE farm. I’ll defend them to the death as they drag the game down into the gutter.”
Whatever I don’t care what you do. I have no right to tell you anything but we will keep helping people level and get karma and honestly don’t care what you guys think. We have people thanking us all the time in game, way more than the 20 or so people raging on the forum about our ktrains
You care what we do when we send your ktrain flying off a cliff.
When that happens, you start using spies to call out where our necros are. A player dedicating their time to screwing with people playing the game properly, all for the good of your obnoxious guild.
Yeah, it’s time we put an end to your guild for good I think.
So you’re saying there should be no level 80s in eotm? Only uplevels allowed? Probably you mostly see them running with the k train because that is just the time/s most people are there..
Nope, I’m saying 80s shouldn’t babysit the ktrain, they should roam around killing ktrains. You know… doing something a bit more challenging.
ren you’re literally just mad because you got kicked from the guild..take a chill pill man
I heard you got kicked too…
Noticed a lot of 80s, mostly in guild groups babysitting the karma farmers in Edge of the Mists. Typically they’ll run with the karma train, scouring ahead (often using spies) for defenders or camping doors with full zergs. What’s the community’s thoughts on this?
My favorite part is that some of these babysitter guilds call themselves “bag hunters” and boast about “bag hunting in EOTM”. You’ll never see them running without the karma train, and if you wipe them (and their ktrain) they’ll ragequit. If you find them running solo it’s usually a free bag in a 1v1 situation.
My question to the babysitter guilds is – what do you get out of it? Are you afraid of a challenge? Why do you hide behind karma trains?
Venturers of the Mists and all other 3-way karma exploiters need to be stopped. If ArenaNet aren’t willing to do their jobs and ban them, the players will take matters into their own hands.
Watching 80% of a karma train being feared off a cliff is just too funny for words.
Changing the traits like this is a an insane move. Absolutely crazy. So many people will quit when their many alts become useless.
Given the trait changes and coupled with a large EOTM guild revealing that ArenaNet staff members run in their karma trains, can we assume that ArenaNet doesn’t want necros to fear zergs off cliffs anymore?
Care to shed some light on this, ArenaNet?
It’s acceptable. It’s not against the rules. I don’t think ANet had any intention with EotM other than a beta implement of megaserver.
If this is the case, I’d like to hear it from ArenaNet themselves.
EotM isn’t WvW because the points you get from EotM have no value. The outcome of each 3 hour match is meaningless.
Because EotM’s points have no value, players can basically do whatever they want. If your on a map where one corner wants to control/defend and farm bags from all three keeps, then they can. If your map wants to avoid confrontations and just farm karma, they can. This behavior is accepted because the points at the end of each match doesn’t mean anything. Each EotM map changes depending on what the commander/players want ie Karma or bags. You’ll just have to find maps that are after the same thing as you.
This isn’t accepted in REAL WvW because the points matter. Your not just in WvW to get karma and farm bags, its about getting points and beating another world/server.
Except in Tier 1, where it’s about making sure TC stay in T1 so the GvG stuff can continue.
Actually, the whole “it doesn’t matter compared to real WvW” argument is inherently silly. “Real” WvW doesn’t matter either. This is a game, right?
The point he ChoChoBo was making was that EOTM has no value in changing server rankings compared to WvW.
One directly affects ranking and how servers rise or fall at the end of the week, the other doesn’t. Claiming this is equal makes no sense. The argument “this is a game” doesn’t fly since in that case no competative sport would matter in any shape or form.
None of it matters other than the competitor’s desire to win. In EOTM like in any other PvP game you can win by killing other players. In “proper” WvW it’s the same thing, except you get a meaningless leaderboad (because T1 is fixed) too.
Meaningless to you. Not meaningless to others who invest a lot of time in WvW.
Your values =/= other peoples values.
The top tier is fixed. TC aren’t allowed to drop down into T2, which means nobody can go UP into T1. Kinda devalues any meaning in all the rankings.

Not putting this into the WvW forum because apparently Edge of the Mists isn’t WvW.
I’d just like to ask ArenaNet if it’s okay for people to control all three sides of Edge of the Mists (Overgrowth, Frostreach and Badlands) in order to avoid fighting completely and trade empty keeps.
So – is this acceptable?
Is it against the rules?
Is it how you intended this game mode to be played?
That’s all, thanks.
As a Christian, I find the new bug highly offensive – everyone seems to be stuck in a crucifixion pose, and there appears to be no way to disable this. Even worse, I’ve heard this might be intentional.
Please remove this from the game, as I’m sure other Christians are offended also.
Duellers should be banned, like they are in other games.
I make it a mission when I see a duel going down to disrupt that duel. The abuse I get is priceless.
Just a heads up in case you see the character GM Proheals doing any of the following:
*appearing/disappearing
*teleporting
*running really fast
*not dying
*moving players – very unlikely but I know if I don’t include it….
*changing teams (friendly to enemy at will)You should not see me doing any of the following:
*fighting back / fighting npc characters
*standing in unclaimed land
*reviving players
*using siege and supplyHere’s my toon:

I have a question:
Will you be banning people who actually break the rules, or only people who upset your friends by dancing with them?
You can see where people are if they’re on your block list too.
To tell a story, that will undoubtedly get some controversy, I use this fact to let people know about a certain individual whenever I feel they’re in my realm of influence. This individual lies about touchy subjects or things common people dont know lots about. They’d lie about being a canc’ survivor, war veteran, LGBT subjects, and a slew of other things a common internet goon would know very little about and you’d be a kitten for trying to call someone out on things like that simply because of the nature of those topics. I wont go into the ‘how’ I know about those things because it’d be like writing a book on here and derails from the OP.
They’d use these lies to scam people out of in-game money and services, scam people IRL for actual money, and from my pov basically a sexual predator too.
I use the fact you can see where this person is located at near ‘stalkerish’ levels because I consider it my moral obligation to let other humans know about this sociopath. I obviously wont name names here because that breaks the ToS, but I just wanted to share from the other perspective.
Why don’t you just report them? If they’re doing the things you say, surely they’d be banned…
This means that if you have an enemy in the game, your enemy can add you as a friend and then follow you from zone to zone spreading lies about you in mapchat.
So? What’s to stop them from spreading lies in every other map? Unless you like to chat it map chat, in which case other people might join in, why does it matter if they’re spreading lines in the zone you’re in? It’s not like map chat can stop you from doing anything and you can’t see it because you’ve blocked them, right? Just report it, block them and move on. If anything, you complaining about it makes it even more hilarious to them. Either ignore them entirely until they get bored or say something once in map chat after them, like don’t mind <name>, that’s just my pet stalker. Directly replying to them or acknowledging them as a problem however will only fuel them.
Hiding your location from blocked players probably isn’t going to happen. It would be easier to simply remove the location field entirely than having to poll every account’s ignore list every time someone opens their friends/followers list. Even if ignored players couldn’t see your location, what’s to stop them from simply buying a new account or asking someone else?
In the end, if someone really wants to stalk you, and I mean dedicated, they’re going to find you regardless.
Why are you concerned if they are lies as you say yourself
Would you be happy if someone went around slandering you in each zone you visited?
Other users have mentioned the invisible function – yes, this can help, but it also means nobody can reply to my whispers, and my friends can’t see that I’m online. Essentially I’m being punished for the stalker’s behavior if I use offline mode.
Wouldn’t it be easier just to prevent people from seeing which zone you’re in when you block them? I bet that’d save CSRs a lot of work…
Let me start by saying that I do like the friend system in this game. It’s nice that you can see where your friends are, how many achievement points they have etc.
But this information should only be shown to friends. Not to followers.
Recently me and several guildies have had problems with stalkers. Players who follow you from zone to zone abusing you in mapchat.
“Just block them!” you might say – and of course, we do block them. However… this is the bad part – they can still see which zone you’re in when you block them if they have you added a friend.
This means that if you have an enemy in the game, your enemy can add you as a friend and then follow you from zone to zone spreading lies about you in mapchat. There’s nothing you can do to stop it. You can try to find another overflow, but that’s not as easy as it used to be. You can switch servers, but you might still end up in the same overflow…
A simple fix would be this: once someone blocks you, you can’t see where they are in the game. At all. Ever. Ideally, you would need to be a mutual friend to see this info, but I’d settle for being able to block people properly.
…and before someone tells me “just report them” well, it would be nice if that worked
I support this too. No other weapon that’s currently in the game would make sense, really, except maybe daggers.
A pistol would be great for warriors.
I started an elementalist a long time ago. He was d/d and used a combination of zerker and soliders gear. This was before celestial. I switched him to scepter/dagger, and recently made a new elementalist with a mind to running d/d celestial as a roamer.
Now, I’m not sure if the d/d build has changed a lot since I used it last. This is what I came up with: http://gw2skills.net/editor/?fFAQJAoYhMM6cW5wuBf0AdAB5zpvRBlzbnB-TFSDAB5s/wmq/0lyP40DAgJIkittenxDAAiTAAA-w
To me, the numbers look very low. I’ve tested the sPvP equivalent, and while I didn’t die at all, I struggled to kill people quickly. I’ve had a look around and builds seem to have conflicting advice (some say take melandru runes, others say strength, some say full celestial, others say knights trinkets).
I have enough charged quartz to make a full set of exotic celestial, and I also have all the celestial ascended trinkets apart from the backpiece. Am I on the right tracks with the build, or way off? Would something else be better for d/d roaming (other than celestial?)

Someone who writes that should be ashamed.
Someone who reposts it on the forums as well.
OP breaks several forum rules and should remove his post, if he doesnt want to risk a forum infraction.
Just block him and move on.
So it’s okay to break rules (and laws) in game, but it’s not okay to break the forum rules (rules which PROTECT cheaters, hackers, exploiters, and abusive people?)
The person in the screenshot should have his account terminated.
Forum rules do not protect cheaters, hackers etc. There is a seperate way to report them. It is not supposed to be reporeted publicly because it gives public knowledge to them and essentially tips them off in advance that someone is on to them and simply makes them change whatever hack, exploit, cheat, glitch they are doing
The OP states that he already reported the guy. Clearly there would be no need for this thread if Anet had done their job in the first place.
It’s me transcribing what was wrote in the whisper, not directed at anyone, rather for those who cannot see the screenshot for whatever reason.
The person has been blocked, but I am not going to let this go when they continue to harass other players the same. I just want to know if this is considered verbal abuse or not.
OK, here are some of the forum rules you should revise:
Do not debate Customer Support decisions or actions. Threads or posts designed to announce, appeal, or contest your own or another player’s suspension or account termination—be it forum or game account—will be removed without notice.
Do not use profanity, insults, or personal attacks. If you have a problem with another member, contact a moderator.
Do not circumvent the word filter. The Support Forum, like the game, is filtered for appropriate language. Any attempt to circumvent this filter will not be tolerated including the use of “creative spelling” or of forum names or signatures that contain a word that is censored by the prohibited words filter.
Do not engage in personal attacks against forum moderators or ArenaNet staff. You may contact staff directly at forums@arena.net if you wish to discuss a staff member’s decision. Please note that abuse of staff members or moderators in forum posts or private messages may result in forum account termination.
https://www.guildwars2.com/en/legal/forum-code-of-conduct/
Do not engage in personal attacks against forum members or in character assassination. Posts that attack another member, that single out a player for ridicule, or that accuse someone of inappropriate in-game actions will be removed without notice. In-game violations should be reported directly to our Support Team. If you believe that using the support system did not result in a sufficient or timely response, you may post your concern in the Support section of the forums.
Do you work for Anet? Or do you just wish you did?
I don’t see what purpose pasting forum rules has. Seems like spam to me.
Someone who writes that should be ashamed.
Someone who reposts it on the forums as well.

It’s the same reason some players are allowed to use certain names and others have almost identical names changed. The rules aren’t applied fairly at all.
I could be wrong, but last time I checked, collections are an OPTIONAL thing to do in game. If you can do it with your character, great for you. If not, you aren’t missing out on any big thing. I mean, seriously, if you look at the BASIC collections, over 1/2 of them will never be done except by AP hunters. Collections aren’t meant to be something easy that every player can achieve without serious effort.
If you don’t think it’s worth the effort, then don’t do the collection. But if that’s the case, the only thing stopping you from doing the collection is yourself. Sorry if that comes off harsh, but since the Dec 16 patch I’ve had my fill of people whining about every little thing in the game that isn’t the way THEY think it should be.
And I’ve had my fill of fanboys and shills who decry any legitimate complaints.
Ah ok, is there a server list of which servers are always on the same teams? or does this change every week?
You team will depend on your server colour… Blue and Red usually have dead times, while green always keep most population. If you try to join a EotM instance right after it start, you’re likely to get on active one (despite your colour). But later on, unless you’re on green, you’re likely to face bad instaces.
Hmm i do not understand why. Jade and Blackgate are blue and red. There is like no major server in green, so why would it always be populated? but yes i have noticed this i think
Tarnished Coast is green, and they are currently #1 server on the NA leaderboard. But besides that, green is the color of the top server in each tier (blue is 2nd, red is 3rd), so the green side of EotM will always have the top servers of each tier and they usually have a lot more population than the other servers.
That is why the green side in EotM always has the numbers regardless of overflow.
Even so, red and blue usually have their zergs, but sometimes these disband due to fail commanders or other colors farming their ktrain. There are sometimes guilds going into EotM to hunt the ktrains, so people usually leave when they see they can’t run the ktrain and level their alts anymore. I fail to see the satisfaction in this, but there are all sorts of people and for some it’s fun to ruin other people’s day, and some of them even get all self-righteous about it and how they “protect the way wvw should be played”; it’s hillarious to read what they write on map chat or on the forums.
For a new player, EotM is not really a good place to go. 99% of the people who go to EotM do so to ktrain and/or level alts, so they generally try to avoid fights and, sadly, most of them have their brains put on sleep mode, while others display a rather toxic behaviour; EotM is really really not representative of what WvW means. If you like the ideea of large scale PvP(-ish), go to WvW proper (Eternal Battlegrounds and the Borderlands), that is where the real action is and the people interrested in WvW as a competitive large scale PvP(-ish) mode. The general consensus for the majority of players is that WvW proper is for WvW, and EotM is for ktrain and leveling alts.
Depending on the tier your server is, there may or may not be a lot of action in WvW proper, but usually during prime time there are people there. As a rule of thumb, the higher the tier, the more people you will find in WvW proper and the more chances you’ll get of having people to play with there in the off-times.
GL.
Edge of the Mists is a WvW zone. PvE players who arrive in Edge of the Mists and get upset that they’re being killed should stay in PvE where they belong.
Here we go…
Please, if you want to PvE – there’s plenty of PvE options. Perhaps you could explore them?

Depending on the tier your server is, there may or may not be a lot of action in WvW proper, but usually during prime time there are people there. As a rule of thumb, the higher the tier, the more people you will find in WvW proper and the more chances you’ll get of having people to play with there in the off-times.
GL.
Edge of the Mists is a WvW zone. PvE players who arrive in Edge of the Mists and get upset that they’re being killed should stay in PvE where they belong.
If ppl flamed you in chat thats WRONG. That should not happen. But EOTM is a zerg train for drops, karma, badges and whatever. Anyone who says otherwise is misleading you.
If you play it that way, that’s your choice. Others take joy in killing other players in Edge of the Mists. You know, playing the game as it was intended.
It’s essentially WvW for the terrible people/people on terrible servers.
The good old days of it being a decent karma/exp train are long gone.
Aren’t you the guy that sent an angry whisper to me after I ganked him in EOTM?
Ouch.
Is this the thread you were talking about OP? http://redd.it/2pmdp1
Edge of the Mists can be great fun… but some people would rather match fix and spy in order to get their karma etc.
Don’t let those people tell you what to do. They are the ones in the wrong… and when you wipe their entire zerg with a superior arrow cart, it’s worth all the hate.
I reported that spot while the event was actually going on (Halloween). I didn’t really know what was going on but it looked very suspicious when you have 10-20 people at one spot in an area where nothing goes on.
It’s good to know Anet acts so fast…………./sarcasm
actually, anet condoned the farm and even banned some griefers that were trying to boicot it.
In the end, I guess, it bugged them that people were getting gold faster than what they wanted. That and the avalanche of reports for griefers that didn’t have anything better to do than screw other people’s playtime.
You sound upset. Perhaps it’s time to take a break from the game?
The bugs are now green and unattackable. May I be the first to say to the farmers – on behalf of the community:
LOL, owned.
The maize balm farmers are incredibly toxic and rude. I can’t believe Anet has allowed this to go on for as long as it has. Balm should be fixed so as not to produce elementals anymore.
Still not fixed after the hotfix patch. Nice.
It’s a bug that arrived after the new patch. Hopefully they’ll fix it soon…
