Lol the drama is real. If youre all so upset because of how “easy” it will be for pvpers to get a legendary, then form a team and see how easy it will be for you. Whoever wins deserves it. Doesnt matter if it took them less time, its going to be a LOT more challenging than getting one in pve. Theyre not competing in a kitteng hotjoin here, its a tournament with the best pvpers. Some of you need to stop being so emotionally attached to this game.
Whats wrong with adding new traits? Some of the traits they announced were kind of lame, but adding more variety is a hell of a lot better than not doing anything for 5 months. Of all the dumb things anet has done in the past, this isnt one of them.
It’s PvE that they care about. PvP gets less attention than WvW does…

Yes, I did say that. I also said in that post that we are investigating ways that we can get proper metrics to reflect the majority of the playerbase. If you knew the amount of players that actually played PvP in our game, then you would understand why a strawpoll with 300 votes is not sufficient.
That’s not to say that we don’t talk about it internally. We talk about it quite a lot.
If the issue was as simple as me making a strawpoll, I’d do it; but it’s not. A very, very small percentage of our playerbase even visit these forums, let alone vote on a poll.
Wouldn’t it be an easy fix to just add in a Veto system like many other games have? Take Starcraft for an example. There are like 8-12 maps in the 1v1 pool, and they allow people to veto 3 maps. Let’s say there are 10 maps, and each person vetoes 3 different maps, that would leave 4 possible maps that those 2 players could get matched up on. I understand that a system like that is much easier when its just 2 players instead of 10, and 10 maps instead of 5, so here is what i propose:
Let each player veto ONE map from the pool. Since there are more players in a match than there are maps in the pool, it couldn’t be a perfect veto system, since theoretically, all maps could be vetoed for a single match, but if certain maps (like Skyhammer) have the most vetoes, then you could take it out of the selection for that specific match up. Even though i cant understand why anyone enjoys playing the map myself, we cant argue that there are at least a few players who are fine with it. With a system like this, even though it wont prevent people who hate Skyhammer from being forced to play it every once in awhile, it will at least reduce the chances by a lot. For the players who actually enjoy it, they can veto something else, and depending on the players they’re matched with they might even get to play it MORE. Please stop making the majority suffer because of a smaller portion of the community. If you’re still not sure that the people who hate Skyhammer greatly outnumber the people who like it, then a system like this would be a perfect way to research what maps people enjoy, and which maps we don’t, which could also benefit any future maps that you guys come up with.
Unfortunately, Skyhammer is one of the few things that has yet to be deleted.

If I’m not mistaken, every skill that has a cast time has a different animation (maybe there’s an exception, thinking about that right now). You don’t need more stuff on your screen if you can see the target

DPS guardians needing buffs has been pretty debatable for a while now, but can i just suggest that ANET stops power creeping us and focuses on more important things? I main a dps guard, and i have for quite a while, so im not against all these free damage increases, like the fury from last patch, and traits like the 5% sword damage trait becoming 10% in the december patch, but i think many would agree with me when i say that powercreeping DPS guardian builds is a terrible idea. The burst we have is amazing, regardless of how reliant on cooldowns it may be, but the problem I see is that no matter how much damage a DPS guardian has, or how much survivability they can have, it still feels like they have no purpose in any composition other than to just kill people when our CDs are up. Increasing our damage output here and there wont really give us a purpose. I have a long list of ideas that one day id like to send over to ANET, but as the forums lately have even more enraged QQ than normally, i think posting them would only get shot down pretty fast by everyone whos ever been globalled by a guardian, making them forever convinced that theyre “OP” or something.
P.S. if one more guardian sends me a 30 zeal build and says its amazing, and i dont know what im talking about, i may very well rip my hair out.

If a hammer/lb warrior loses to a dps guardian build like that, then that warrior has some serious l2p issues. Dps guardians can counter many things, but hammer/lb warrior isnt one of them, unless the warrior is terrible.
If you guys take a look at a lof of the traits in zeal and radiance, even though there are some that can be used in some really strong builds, a lot of them are not worth taking at all. Talking about balance by comparing your damage/survivability “on paper” or saying that dps guardians are OP because they can kill a thief will only make your argument that much worse. A lot of us aren’t looking for buffs, we are looking for variety, and since 30 valor is a must have for every dps build, a lot of the traits in zeal/radiance need a bit of work IMO. The fury alone will open up a few opportunities that a lot of us probably dont see yet, but if you’re running 30 in zeal at this point, then i dont think it would be wise to step outside of hotjoin.
You can totally neglect radiance and go full on zeal and 10 on honor.
This is why we cant have nice things.
It amazes me how many people don’t understand how good guardians are, and have been since release. This was a great buff, and anything more will seriously make guardians god like. Let’s give them stealth too, tons of immobs and bleeds.
Stop complaining about a STAPLE of any real tpvp team since this game launched.
If they fix some bugs that have existed since launch, id agree. The few good dps builds we have are pretty solid. A lot of us dont want buffs to the builds we have, but changes are needed to a lot of the traits that are literally never used.
The fury opened up a few opportunities for sure, even though its a small change, but i agree that dps guards still need a bit of work. Zealots defense will never hit for the damage its supposed to, because the farther back your target is, the less attacks connect, because it has issues with range, and since it locks you in place, your target can just back up a bit without even dodging and avoid over half the damage while still being “in range.” A bit of polishing would be great. Once that’s done, even though this kind of applies to quite a few classes at the moment, guardian tier 3 traits need some serious work. The way it is now, its very hard to balance a build with 30 in zeal, and right handed strength builds shouldn’t be taken outside of hotjoin IMO.

On the plus side, ty for bringing more DH to the fight club tho, and the loot bags, they have quite tasty content for watching the rest of our duels

Dont usually go to fight clubs, but i might have to start. Nothings more satisfying than seeing buffalos “WAR TRAIN” get wrecked. If it means anything, most of the people on AR (other than WAR members) arent really a fan of him either…

As a support guardians are still amazing, but as damage dealers they are lacking a bit, specially since it is so easy to outrun them and they now have to give up A LOT of survivability in order to attain some acceptable DPS.

Whats with all the posts about how certain traits/runes work well with food buffs? This is the sPvP forums, no?
1. New maps being made way more often
2. A way to make skills like tremor(warrior) ray of judgement(guardian) etc. less derpy if you use while moving
3. Stronger combos from leaps, whirls, and projectiles (blasts are fine imo)
I have opened close to 400 tournie chests (that I would not have otherwise) to try to get the medium gloves, instead I got about 6 pairs of heavy and cloth…. still don’t have medium

Don’t leave and ruin their duel. If they complain more or start to insult you then report them. They are doing it wrong. The hotjoin servers are not meant for duel. Duel system still needs to be implemented by ArenaNet.
Instead they should whine daily in the forums… maybe this will help to get ArenaNet to implement a duel function faster.
The amount of kittengery in this post is astonishing. Anet hasn’t implemented duels, so players are doing what they can to compensate. If they’re jerks about it, then by all means, but if you ruin peoples duels because “hotjoin servers are not meant for duels” then you’re just a miserable kitten.

While I agree with the general ‘need for solo queue’ sentiment, GW2’s current population can’t handle separated queues between hot-join, free tournaments, paid 5s, and solo queue.
I definitely think it’s something that should be revisited in the future, but I hate to break it to you – having solo queue implemented ASAP isn’t going to save the game.
Simple things like incentivizing PvP for the majority of the playerbase (ie exp from sPvP, laurels from PvP dailies, etc) to revamping the hot-join and free tournament systems into something a bit more cohesive seems much more important.

Completely agree with the laurel idea for pvp to bring in pve based people. When you proposed something like this on SotG, it was depressing to hear one of the jons say that it would be a better idea to add something like a glory booster to the pve daily to make pve’ers want to try pvp. If they tried pvp once and didnt enjoy it then, they would probably throw a glory booster in the garbage to be honest.
Hey. No idea if this is a good place to post this, but I’ll give it a shot anyway.
Was thinking about ways Anet can help warriors not get wrecked as hard as they do by conditions. I understand that they cant just add random ways for warriors to remove them, because they need to kind of do it in a way that still seems “warrior-ish”, so i was thinking that they could change the discipline tree like this:
Remove the 1% burst damage for every 10 points in discipline (its nice, but i dont think people will miss it)
Reduce the cooldown of burst skills by 1% per point.
Now, since the trait “Quick Bursts” reduces the cooldown by 20% already, you could simply remove it, and add in a new trait that allows you to remove conditions based on your adrenaline level when you use a burst skill. 3 conditions might be too OP, but maybe 1 condition for level 2 adrenaline, and 2 conditions for level 3.
Making this change still fits in the discipline tree quite well, because discipline traits are heavily based around gaining and managing the adrenaline you have. No idea what youd call the new trait, but im sure Anet could come up with something creative.
