I don’t see why you view it as a problem to allow players the ability to leave stealth. You’re playing devil’s advocate with no supporting argument.
Justin, especially since we are forced to remain on the profession we queued with – I really think it is now necessary to add some sort of build presets to enable us to fill certain roles our team may be short of.
This will help ease the pain of not being able to swap toons to fill a certain niche on the fly.
I miss the rank RP vendors and pvp crafting tremendously. I think it was a mistake to completely merge them with the reward tracks, although earning currency through PVP was a very appreciated change.
One of the arguments I initially made was that there are many times you get stealthed through no fault of your own and can’t undo it. That’s a poor design choice imo.
Siva, I don’t want to win a game because an enemy was stuck in stealth. That’s just cheesy.
Can anyone think of any reasons why it would NOT be beneficial to have the ability to pull yourselves out of stealth?
His point is this is what the new “suckerboard” rewards instead of skill.
Worst thread ever
I would even be satisfied with a simple “stealth won’t change because we believe x, y, and z would be affected”
Anyone have any other ideas other than clicking the buff or a hot key?
I can only hope for it to be patched. Keep alive for dev input please
Same for me. I have for the most part learned to be very careful about putting myself in that situation, but it still happens occasionally and frustrates me.
You know, I can’t really figure out why foefire is number 1. I don’t mind the map, but I don’t really ever consider it to be my favorite. Maybe because home and far points are relatively easily accessible?
Temple/Kyhlo are my 2 faves. Forest and Foefire are just ok
I posted a similar thread about stealth and the need to be able to self-remove, if beneficial.
The real root cause problem here is we don’t have the ability to save and store multiple builds, in the event you like to make adjustments to your character while loading.
They could even blatantly copy League of Legends on this one and I wouldn’t care. Give us 3 builds to save per character and open up the gem shop to expand that number.
This is ESPECIALLY ANNOYING now that you’re forced to stay on your character you joined queue with, as many of us historically would swap to a toon more suited for the type of fight at hand.
I feel it’s probably obvious, but in case I wasn’t clear in my initial post: remaining stealthed with no way to break yourself out keeps you from being able to neutralize/capture which results in lost time and missed point ticks.
His statement is that this new leaderboard rewards points for the quantity of games played. It is not possible for any player, regardless of extremely high level of skill, to be at the top of the leaderboard unless he/she plays an immense amount of games.
Your “available ladder points to be earned” has a lot to do with where you end up on the ladder, which is driven by how many games you play.
As a married professional with a 2-year old son, I can say with 100% confidence that even if I played the best GuildWars2 humanly possible, I will never end up in the top percentiles of the leaderboard because I will not have the time available to play as many games as say a college student, for example.
Turret engineers and celestial elementalists are really tough to deal with at the moment.
For engineers, I can only recommend laying some massive aoe before engaging yourself to try and take down some/all of their turrets. Otherwise you’ll just get knocked around like a pinball.
I have 80s of each profession and all can be subjected to this problem at some point or another whether by their own doing or a teammate.
We really need a way to break ourselves OUT of stealth, if favorable to do so. There are not always enemies around to attack.
I would personally love to be able to, say for example, right click the buff to remove it from myself if I no longer need it. An example where this can happen is if a friendly thief drops shadow refuge to assist landing a dunk on the last remaining enemy. Once the enemy is gone and nobody is left to attack, you can be stuck in stealth for sometimes upwards of 10 seconds. Although rare, I have lost matches because of this.
Further cementing my personal notion that team rankings were skewed by solo players vs. premades and could use a reset is the fact that I’ve won 9 of 11 solo arena matches thus far, and the level of difficulty feels a lot lower.
Reset the rankings, please, and give everybody a fair shot. Not only those that played exclusively with their band of buddies.
The solo-queuers were the ones keeping the game healthy by continuing to participate.
I was very much hopeful a developer would join in on the dialogue and provide some insight. Devs, are you there?
We can be hopeful. Now’s the ideal time to do it, in my humble opinion.
Some excellent points here. Thanks for contributing to the discussion, all. I am intrigued by the idea of only counting last xx days, but would prefer a race back from the beginning.
You know, my experience in LoL showed me people become VERY engaged during resets and really try hard and enjoy themselves. Provides somewhat of a “purpose”
Thanks. I think it would be the right thing to do and I was honestly rather surprised when I noticed it hasn’t been reset.
ArenaNet,
First off, thank you for the recent addition of Solo Queue. That will provide lone wolf players an opportunity to play competitive matches without starting at a HUGE disadvantage of playing against a premade group with some experience of how to play together and rotate as a group.
That being said; I sincerely think you’re really missing an opportunity here to remove the junk & doubt from the rankings and get people back on a level playing field.
Lots of premade groups have greatly benefited from playing against teams of solo queued players at an extreme disadvantage and have ballooned up the rankings. Now, with the addition of solo queue, this is the perfect opportunity to bring it all back together.
I think at least a soft reset would be beneficial to bring the masses closer together. I’ve personally clawed my way through hundreds of matches as the solo queued underdog. Now that there’s an arena for that, I feel at a huge disadvantage if I wanted to start participating in team matchups.
I hope you re-consider a reset. If not now, is it in your immediate plans to implement “seasons” or something along those lines?
Respectfully,
Tamzooka
Fantastic.

I understand that I am not the best player out there and will probably never break too far into the top 1000, although I’d like to think I’m pretty well above average in the 90-95th percentile. That being said; I have a real gripe with the match making system. My friends and I have hundred of games under our belts, with win percentages varying from 55-60%.
We queued up for a tourney earlier, as always, and get thrown against a group I recognize. A group that is probably ranked the same as we are and are a premade of level 30-50 players. Great! We’re in for a fantastic match!
Until we realize; the two pugs placed with us were brand new players, with ranks of TWO (2), and FOUR (4).
How can they POSSIBLY be making it into ranked matches with level 50s in the 90th percentile!??!
Needless to say, we obviously lost the extremely frustrating match.
ArenaNet, please listen carefully:
Your competitive players would MUCH RATHER wait a little bit longer to be placed with competent players in tournaments than to have jacknjill placed in our parties to start the match immediately. There is nothing more of a buzzkill than having a winstreak ruined against a beatable team due to teammates placed with you that had NO BUSINESS being there.
Please reconsider the way matches are built.

Brand new guild looking for some core members (and officers). We intend on being well balanced between TPVP, WvW, and PVE. Send a private message in-game to me for more info or an invite
Look forward to having you join the team!
My non-existent vote goes towards option c. Many guests are farmers. It is BEYOND frustrating to miss events due to getting kicked to overflow on my own home server.
In addition to this, the world bosses have become unplayable & completely unenjoyable. Even with all of these extra people, they seem to take LONGER because of all of the lag involved.
Honestly, most of these fights are now relegated to targeting the boss and allowing your character to auto-attack since you absolutely cannot use any other skills under most circumstances.
It’s really a shame. There are plenty of people on each server that are willing and capable to fight bosses without all of the additional mess of guests.
Eliminating loot outside of home server would be a great start. -OR- if they must stay; make the guests require an invitation from someone on the server and still need some kind of limitation on numbers.
People should not miss content on their own server because GUESTS are there taking their spots. I don’t think there’s an argument in the world that can convince the player-base otherwise.
I plan on outfitting my main with full level 80 exotics (of my stat choice), gain 100% map completion, then SPvP/WvW with no more grinding. Just fun with that char and alts. Legendary is not for me.
