Hey guys, I just logged on today and I got suppressed from /map and /say.
Is this a known bug?
Map is fine
But only in Hotjoin
It’s not smart to let top players pay to help low level players. Would probably be better for devs to decide on who have these tags instead of having random top 200 players giving bad advice to low level players.
Yeah the criteria are things that need to be worked on. I just figured the more experienced you are, the more likely you are know the sPvP as a whole. Obviously, neither personal rank nor leaderboard rank are the best indicators of experience.
Maybe some sort of application process must take place in order for a player to receive the Tutor tag to narrow down the roster of truly willingly helpful players.
Its up in the air and open for discussion!
Edit: Grammar
(edited by tangatalaga.5943)
Hey guys! What does everyone think of having a a green sPvP “tag” that is analogous to the blue Commander tag that serves in PvE and WvW?
This tag would denote that this player is a Tutor and indicates that he is willing to give advice to those in either the HotM or in hotjoins. Of course, a minimum personal rank of 50 would be required to purchase this tag for some set amount of gold (50g-75g?).
I feel that something like this would create in-game “faces” whom new players can trust to learn builds, practice roles with, understand map dynamics, and formulate strategies. This would help to alleviate the problem of new players blaming their disadvantage to level, rank, gear, etc. This may also get new players to stop prioritizing personal score as “the only thing that matters”.
Thoughts?
I’ve only been put into the Deathmatch map twice by clicking play now…
Most times it puts me in games that are like 2v2 or 2v1 lol
Today I saw a thief spam pistolwhip on a guardian inside his symbol of wrath, killing himself on retaliation and calling guardian OP.
its OP if the guardian can just stand in one place without dodging and letting a passive boon do all the work
Surely you must be joking…
Right? Lol
I don’t know if it’s worth speculating anymore. It’s just going to make more people angry when we find that our guesses (that somehow turn into “the truth”? wtf?) are wrong.
2) Playing PvE (dailies and one or two dungeons)
5) Playing other games
Plot twist: No back up of the previous build was made
gg
I feel like adding more rails similar to Waterfall on Foefire on every side point across the each map would help significantly against builds like the Decap Engi. Also the side points on Foefire offer natural spots to line of sight attacks because the points are elevated somewhat. Perhaps more of this can be implemented as well?
This is getting ridiculous
What is?
I’m sure you’ll be back when the amazing patch hits. After all it’s been in the works for 8 months so it must surely be amazing.
You know, I’m sure I will be as well. Honestly, the gameplay is extremely fun. Its just the aggravating builds that turn my experience (and my demeanor) sour.
The patch can’t come any sooner
I was being sarcastic but this works too.
Oh. Guess I need to earn Champ Forum Reader to have caught that lol

GW2 CONQUEST: THE SKILL-LESS SPAM CHAMBER
When we reduce player in-combat movement to 0, we have Runescape.
LMAO you right
Finally got it… big woop right?
For many of you, Champ ______ was obtained long ago, perhaps when you still enjoyed sPvP and the meta wasn’t stale.
For me, I took an interest at the end of December of 2013 and aimed for Champ Paragon. At first, it was a little challenging to get out of the percentile on the leaderboards but the ins and outs weren’t hard to learn and I escaped that hell quickly. However, not long after I fought my way into the numbered ranks did I find that matchmaking was not any better. The builds that worked well in “percentile hell” were even more efficient in the hands of “generally” better players. I grew thicker skin and unleashed profanities upon every game. So while juggling college, life in general, and playing other games, I slowly grinded my way up to 150 wins with my favorite class.
Anyway, that’s a quick recap of this experience.
Will I try this again with a different class? Not until sPvP gets the attention it so desperately needs.
I’m sorry to anyone that I got into a nerd-rage fight with. I’m a pleasant individual irl, I promise.
So here it is.
GG and DEFINITELY no RE (for now)

113. It only takes 30 seconds for a pistolwhip thief to down you
I think you are someone who think ranks means something other than how much you play.
i think the point he is making is’nt about the reward, but that it was a solely Spvp thing and was advertised nowhere, just kinda thrown in out of the blue.
whereas if it was a pve thing, lets say 30% more gold/karma or something,
it’d be advertised all over the place before hand.basically showing the amount of “cares” that a pvp event gets compared to a pve one.
atleast thats what i gathered from reading it.
edit: thats just my interpretation, i’m just happy we got something! :-3
(well most people did, i worked all weekend qq!)
^
Also, my condolences T__T
Get tagged by enemy, jump off cliff, end game faster.
Or we could just jump off cliffs irl
I think if you took the time to read the thread you linked you’d realize what you look like.
Hint: It’s nothing to do with the bonus weekend.
That, unfortunately is as far as your point goes
You missed the point entirely. I linked that post because yes, I do understand that the dedicated PvPers would be at a huge loss in terms of monetary value and time spent. Its not fair. If we want to see the PvP community grow, we need to bring in more players. This was the perfect weekend to do so. This post isn’t about what is and isn’t fair.
As far as I’m concerned, the post I linked has little to worry about seeing as very few new players played this weekend.
Yay! Bonus rank weekend!
For some, this is a great opportunity to make progress toward the awesome rank finishers and whatnot. For others, this is a “total slap in the face” (see https://forum-en.gw2archive.eu/forum/pvp/pvp/Ready-up-rewards-a-slap-in-the-face).
I personally find this to be cool bonus and for that, I thank ANet.
That, unfortunately, is as far as my positivity goes.
As you guys know, this event was poorly announced. In fact, its not even on the front page of guildwars2.com. Its not on the launcher that shows announcements. Even further, no NPC in game is telling anyone that this event even happened. I’m pretty sure that unless you’ve visited the forums within the past few days, you had no way of knowing other than word of mouth.
Was this event to reward the dedicated PvPers only? Perhaps. Was it to entice more players to come stay in the Heart of the Mists for longer than the 5 seconds it takes to zone in and run into the Lion’s Arch portal? Maybe.
Whatever the reason, I feel that this could have been announced AT LEAST on the launcher. If this is any indication of how much consideration the PvP team or whoever is in charge of putting this event on blast, then I am deeply concerned.
You know… On top of the lack of communication, balance, patching, blah, blah, blah.
What do you guys think?
(edited by tangatalaga.5943)
Just a fact, In RA it didn’t matter if u had a low skilled player as much as it does in GW2. Actually won so much with a lowskilled in RA, and had some fun. In GW2 it’s nearly instant gg.
A lot of the time no healer = instat GG as well. Or is nostalgia that blinding?
Good thing we won’t have to risk that this time around in GW2. However, in terms of team comp, I can see how lacking a tanky party support player like a Guardian or Spirit Ranger could mean GG as well. Nonetheless, I feel like the victors would more often than not be decided by the players’ skill

Remember these guys? Simple maps with simple primary and secondary objectives! Ones that aren’t centered around three rings! I feel that similar objectives (game modes I suppose?) can easily be derived from this humble little wiki page.
Of course things like time limit and/or score limit can be altered to suit how much faster paced this game is.
Thoughts? Critiques? Suggestions?
I already take enough damage from applying my conditions to someone with retaliation (more than my upfront damage). Why would you punish someone 4 times for having a specific type of damage (projectile, condi removal, retal on application, +new idea). This is a bad idea.
Well you’re definitely right about taking a lot of damage from retaliation, especially if you aim to stack conditions through repeated direct attacks. However, I feel that in the case of Necromancers, they can apply conditions in one go, receiving far less damage than they deal. Thus the willy nilly AoE condition spam spewed out by the current meta Necromancer.
Yes condition removal exists. No, you can’t spam removal as fast as the foe can apply them.
Hey guys,
So with all of this talk about the condition meta and how effective it is, I thought of possible ways to counter it in FUTURE PATCHES. One of the ideas that I tended to gravitate towards was making retaliation return a portion of the condition damage back to the sender.
According to the wiki, the current formula for retaliation is 198.45 + (0.075 * Power). Be mindful that the current state of retaliation only affects direct hits. If anything else, please remind me what else procs retaliation
I propose retaliation returns something like 0.10 * Incoming Condition Damage. This makes it a flat-rate 10% damage return to the sender. Now we can take this further and say it does 10% PER CONDITION, but that already sounds a bit like we’re overdoing it. Perhaps 5% per condition is more up the alley of balance.
Any feedback? I’m not sure if this has been discussed already
