Hey guys. I’m looking for some of the best mesmers that record or stream or what not. Just curious as to who you all think are some of the best out there. If you know of any please add them to this thread.
Cheers!

Hm. What I’ve learned from playing medi-guard is that either you’re going to excel with it, or you won’t. I don’t necessarily agree with much of what was posted here simply because there are some, myself included, that don’t really have any issues like what you have listed. Most of us playing deeps as well.
In spvp there are a few dps builds I prefer to run, and find myself usually doing well in the match. And when there’s two of us roaming around or sitting on a point, fo’get-about-it.
In wvw, running a somewhat heavier spec I have 1 v X’d upwards of 5 people solo. Running glass, I’m more around 3 or so.
As with any class, it’s about timing, rotations, and reading your opponent. If you can learn those and learn them well, you can really excel.

I haven’t seen like any. I understand turrets being more viable in duels/spvp, but just expected to see a few out roaming in wvw.

A few people are asking. I’m debating making a build post on the forums soon. Stay tuned.

Sure. I would agree that engis have better sustain. Condi engis are the toughest class for me to fight on my necro. But.. I think the conversation comes down to does the player enjoy better sustain or better damage. I went from engi to necro and can’t turn back. I’m a fan of the amount of damage and aoe spamming that you can pump out there. It’s unmatched. Engi is great at sustaining damage, but cannot take chunks of HP off of someone like my necro can (of course there were the good old days when engis could throw 25 stacks of confusion in about 2 seconds.. oh, memories)
IGN: Nax The (Pseudo|Gearhead|Paladin|Afk|Plague)
Hm. Well I would have to disagree with OP. Necros this meta are surely not useless IMO. Just like any another other class, where you have a handicap you need to learn to rise above. Yes it’s true, necros lack certain things like decent mobility, stability and such, but truly learning the class will take you far. We lack those things just like rangers lack decent condi cleanse, or like guardians lack mobility, etc etc. Every class has something that everyone wishes it had.
My suggestion to you would be to investigate builds and differing playstyles a bit more if you are wanting to be successful with this class. Really. If not, go play warrior.
Regarding your comments about warriors and engis out condi’ing you. It is super rare for a condi warrior to beat me. Engis can be tough but they don’t have the ability to cleanse or transfer like you do, so it’s a battle of mitigation at that point. Same as with condi-warriors. Also like fights with other condi necros. In those cases it literally becomes a fight for “who can out transfer the other person”.
Anyways, my 2 cents.

Hey guys.
First video of hopefully many posted here. Just a video of me roaming taking on a few duels and 1 v X’s. Hope you all enjoy. Ciao!

D/D only for me, in both roaming and zerg. My focus in zerg though is not to charge in with the group, but to focus all my efforts on the back line of whoever we’re fighting. Usually I’ll pull off to the side and flank the ranged group. It pulls their attention off our zerg and causes them to really try to stay away from me. You’d be surprised at how many staff ele’s hate close combat.

Sweetest combo for duels.
Tool kit shield (to get close range) → Slick shoes (draw a tight circle around your foe) → drop supply crate on their face → Prep yourself for the following conversation: “Engineers are OP because ____” (aka: QQ’ing)

Hm. Well I was testing it while I was typing my reply. Are you sure bounce doesn’t affect the initial target? Because I tested several times and saw 5 stacks off of static shot a couple of those times.
IGN: Nax The (Pseudo|Gearhead|Paladin|Afk|Plague)
I run perplexity runes and I can get 15 stacks of confusion pretty consistently when I use this combo:
static shot (2-5 stacks) → throw shield (7- 10 stacks on interrupt) → pry bar (5 stacks).
Before the CDs were implemented I could throw 25 stacks of confusion on someone in about 4-6 seconds by extending the above combo.
Pry bar alone dishes out 5 stacks of confusion. That’s where you could have been seeing the 5 stacks from time to time. Also static shot can also dish out that much confusion at one time as the shot can bounce, causing multiple stacks in a group.
The 15 sec CD I believe applies ONLY to skills that do not already place confusion. For example, I can double interrupt with magnetic shield and throw shield, but only cause 5 stacks of confusion on the first skill.

Hey all.
I’ve dueled a few s/d ele’s that are clearly rocking perplexity runes and have big condition damage. Most of the time in a duel setting these guys are really tough to beat. I’ve looked online for examples of builds or gameplay utilizing this same type of gear set and I’ve really found nothing. It looks fun but really wanting to see it in action outside of a duel before possibly investing in it. Would anyone have any build or vid they’d like to share with the general public on this? I’ve played d/d primarily, direct damager builds.
Please and thanks.

Hey guys.
Has anyone else had an issue stealthing recently? Whether by torch or by decoy? Those seem to be the only ones I’ve seen an issue with.
Basically, when I use stealth, I’ve noticed:
- I’m not turning invisible as per my point of view
- Enemies of all sorts have no issues finding me when I’m stealthed
Also with point 2, I’ve tested this out a few times. At first it was ranged toons. So I figured I was just the victim of heat seeking (skill popped off before I was truly stealthed). But then I stealthed and walked behind a warrior. He turned around and hit me with his greatsword 3 dash. Which isn’t really possible if you are truly in stealth. There was no telegraphing on my part either. This type of thing has happened with melee toons for the past few nights now.
Just checking to see if this is happening to anyone else.

Just starting out on mesmer, it wouldn’t hurt to take a look at Osicat’s or Seven Mirror’s builds. They have enough builds out there that it may help you come up with your own based on some of their original ideas.

Hello all.
In my time playing gw2 I have been involved mostly with wvw. Lately I’ve been playing a lot more spvp and am really digging it.
I recently was asked to be involved with a group tourney, and when the commentators commented on each individuals build they said that my engi had a “common” build, and that it was “sort of sub par”. And regarding one of my teammates who was rolling a d/d ele at the time, I heard them comment that it had been a very long time since they had seen an ele of any sort in a tourney.
Here’s the question: What toon is “acceptable” to run in spvp if one is a bit more interested in getting involved with the more competitive side of things? Or what class is typically desired by a team who is involved with tpvp? Is this all variable or am I missing something?
So with all of that said, if your immediate response would be “well what type of game play do you enjoy?”, my response would be:
- I enjoy running my engi, mesmer and warrior through spvp.
- I enjoy bunking on a point with my condi/tank engi
- I also enjoying running disruption and roaming throughout the map killing as many people as I can.
Most of my experience has been in hot joins and solo/team queue matches.
Thx all for any tips/suggestions you can provide me. Ciao.
Nax.

In other news, CD blob at it’s finest. :/
I’m assuming they felt the need to chase a single ele across a good portion of the map in retaliation of their/a commander being updrafted in the face. But I’m not sure. Anyhow, cheers.

Hey guys. Just curious if there are any really noteworthy engi’s out there that have any type of gameplay videos? I’ve only heard of one or two (Teldo, for example). In my off-time I’m secretly a nerd who likes to watch people nuke other people in both spvp and wvw.
Graci.

IGN: Nax The (Pseudo|Gearhead|Paladin|Afk|Plague)
Probably. That’s what I was thinking gear wise. Anyone have thoughts on builds that would allow an ele to be a tank that hits like… a tank??
IGN: Nax The (Pseudo|Gearhead|Paladin|Afk|Plague)
I know it is. But just wondering if there’s any type of meta d/d build out there that I wasn’t familiar with.
IGN: Nax The (Pseudo|Gearhead|Paladin|Afk|Plague)
Hey guys. Recently roaming with my guardian I came across an ele that not only was tanky as all get out, but he hit like a truck. Landing crits between 4-8k while taking hardly any damage at all from me. Also recently faced an ele in spvp that was about the same.
I am not familiar with the build/gear that these guys may have been rolling, but is there currently a known build like this?
Thx.

I’m biased though because I’m the other guardian in some of these vids. Ha! But gj Raylze.

As others have said, the Guardian class is fine. You really do have to learn the mechanics of this class if you are going to be successful with it.
I roam/havoc through wvw most of the time. I often 1 v 3 & 4 with this class. In a lot of ways this class is truly OP. But yes. Learn the mechanics. Do well. Cry no moar.

Hey guys. I haven’t played ele all that long, but I keep hearing all this talk about how great ele’s used to be and how much they are lacking overall. I still seem to be able to roll faces off with mine regardless.
Can someone please shed some light on what exactly I missed prior to all this ele nerfing?

I’ve found for me, it’s a battle of mitigation and anticipation. Playing more passively and ensuring sustained damage output over bursting either of them down. While also keeping positional awareness up.
For S/D thieves, I’m not saying I don’t have issues with them, because I do from time to time. But mitigate the amount of CC you throw out at a time. I save my auras for when they juke in close, and use my ring of earth and earthquake sparingly. When I get them down at least 50%, I try to throw this combo:
magnetic grasp/leap → updraft → ride the lightening → then roll backwards (for aiming)→ burning speed → firegrasp
This has worked out well for me.
For stun warriors, I try to play behind them as much as I can. I never stop moving. I play passively allowing myself to auto attack more than anything else (again sustained damage output over burst works better for me. Lightening whip ftw ). Often times I make them feel like I’m running away, giving them the impression that I’m trying to gather my health/thoughts/emotions/whatever, while looking backwards while running to anticipate when earthshaker is coming, because you know it ALWAYS does when your back is turned. Never fails. Then a quick lightening flash behind them, followed by updraft → ride the lightening → the kitchen sink
Not saying it’s perfect, just what has worked out best for me.
Also, a suggestion: if you have any guildies running these classes/builds ask them to spvp you a bunch. Practice definitely will pay off.

Hey guys.
Question of the evening is: “As a thief, what are the ways you have found of best dispatching a necromancer?”
I have asked this question to a few friends of mine that main thieves. The consensus is “omg run away” or “burst them before they can touch you with sickness”. It’s hard for me to believe that one class can be this dominate to another class, and that there is potentially no a viable way of dealing with them other than what I’ve mentioned.
So, what are your thoughts?
