Hi there!
It now seems that the nerf to crit damage (berserker) in the upcoming features patch is pretty much set in stone. This bodes well for all non-berserker players.
However, I feel it is absolutely necessary that people with L80 Ascended and Exotic gear with berserker stats get to choose new stats without having to grind for new gear once the patch hits. It’s incredibly unfair to make these players spend all that time and effort again if berserker builds are no longer viable (high probability, as an overnerf is likely here).
I really hope you allow this, Anet. It certainly won’t be hard to do as the system is already implemented for many Ascended items.
Thanks!
The item is implemented now. I doubt they will change it, though a ‘hovering’ back piece in the future would be pretty cool.
If anything, they should make the blades obtainable without requiring Lvl 500 crafting – the cost is just mad.
Hi there!
I was wondering what the best Warrior weapon set for doing PvE and WvW was. I know Greatsword is often considered king of PvE but seems completely useless in WvW compared to Axe/Whatever. What is the best weapon set if I want to do both (sPvP doesn’t interest me)?
I can’t really swap between types as this would require constant retraiting to be viable.
Thanks!
This would require way too much developer effort for just a tiny boost in performance. It’s far better that the developers focus on making the game better through LS/expansion (hopefully).
Besides, the game already pulls on 8 threads very effectively – just check your core usage.
But doesn’t weaponsmithing cost more for a smaller stat boost?

Thanks for the replies!
With the crazy prices, I don’t think I’m going to bother going for Ascended Armor/Weapons through crafting – at least for a while.
Thanks again!
Hi there!
I was wondering what the current cost of levelling Armorsmithing from 1-500 was. I know that back around September it was a ridiculous amount in excess of 100g, but have heard that it’s now around a more reasonable (but still high) 20g. Is this true?
Thanks!
The cheapest way would be farming Fractals and hoping for a weapon-chest drop. I think there’s a 20% chance to get one at level 50. But considering all the potential weapon-types it’s very unlikely you’ll get what you want.
You can also get Ascended weapon-chests from all other types of content, but again they are rare.
Crafting is really the only reasonable way of getting them in any timely fashion. Now that everyone has had time to level to 500 it’s not nearly as expensive as it used to be. still costly however but bearable if you are well prepared have have a few crafting boosters.
Once you reach 500, the rest isn’t so bad. Creating the actual weapons is “reasonable”.
Ascended armor is what is bat-kitten-crazy.
Thanks for the reply!
I guess I’ll just go for 500WS then and get the money by farming dungeons/LS.
Hi there!
I was wondering what the cheapest way of getting Ascended weapons/armor was.
I can get Ascended trinkets with a decent time investment but minimal cost. However, when I look up Ascended weapon acquisition it all seems crazy expensive but requires minimal time investment. What is the cheapest way? (time taken isn’t really an issue but I dislike grinding for gold as it doesn’t feel like I’m working toward anything).
Thanks!
There’s already a 30 something page on the topic. ArenaNet knows we want Cantha. I’m sure it’s just a matter of time. They need to flesh out Tyria first.
Flesh out Tyria? Please expand. Do you mean fill the gap between them implementing a Canthan zone and now?
According to the Guild Wars 2 Wiki, “Josh Foreman has said that a lot of the development team would like to return to Cantha and encourages interested players to ask for a future Canthan region (in a positive, friendly way).” Therefore, here I am, asking for a future Canthan region (in a positive, friendly way), as I am an interested player.
From the original Guild Wars and its expansions, I would say that I liked the environments of Factions the most (with the exception of the run-down areas of Kaineng City). If the development team where to bring back, say, just Shing Jea Island, I would be very happy. In addition (I’m going to get a bit “in your dreams”-y here), perhaps they could add the Tengu as a playable race: the areas surrounding the Dominion of Winds (DoW) suggest that there is a lot of potential for the Tengu to be implemented in the game, and opening up the DoW would be a good way for the developers to explain how contact with Cantha has been established (Tengu are native to Cantha so it would make sense for them to maintain contact with their homeland).
This is top of my wanted features list, and I think a lot of other players want this too. Please, Arenanet, give us Cantha!
Armor skins are very limited in GW2, especially for exotic level 80 armor. Of all the skins in the game, for each armor class, I think only about 5 sets look decent. Judging by the armor every other player is wearing, I think that they agree. Every level 80 character looks the same now, with about a quarter of everyone I see wearing Citadel of Flame sets.
Medium armor needs the most work (less trenchcoats, please), followed by heavy, and then light. New skins are being added in to the game, but nowhere near often enough, and I feel that one of the core aspects of MMOs, the gear grind, is really lacking in GW2. Now, I know that GW2 isn’t a ‘traditional’ MMO, but I think there are only a select few people who think that there are enough armor skins as of right now.
Ascended armor would be a great addition to the game, IMO. If the development team focused on hard to obtain, great-looking gear (No more fire/dark-themed armor or asymmetrical shoulders, though), this would keep a lot of players occupied for quite some time, myself included. Preferably, this would not be available on the gem store or acquired through achievement points, but something like Laurels or Dungeon Currency (perhaps each piece could cost 60 of each dungeon currency, i.e. one runthrough of each dungeon).
Let me know what you guys think.

Currently, some classes have 25% permanent speed boosts with signets, which are a step in the right direction.
Four out of six professions have a Signet that gives +25% movement speed. Warriors have a 10 point trait in a popular trait line that gives 25% with melee weapons. The only one really left out of the party is Mesmer.
Personally, I would like to see some way of getting a 50-100% increase in movement speed. Preferably, this would be something to work towards, like a 5 gold purchase, available after level 40 (10/11, 20 and 30 are all major milestones, so 40 for a speed boost makes sense). Perhaps the speed boost could be implemented with a skill-like button next to the skill bar, with a 3-second (or so) activation time.
Wow wow wow, hold it right there!
Swiftness is +33%. Giving a +100% movement speed boost would mean moving 50% faster than with Swiftness. That’s insane.
Of course, there would be a few limitations. The speed boost would:
-Not be usable in combat, but not be affected by falling damage either
-Not be usable in sPvP or challenges like Sanctum Sprint, but should be usable in WvW
-Not be usable in dungeons (this may change if Arenanet add very large dungeons)
-Have no cosmetic effect (other than the swiftness effect animation, or similar)- Not affected by fall damage? What do you mean by that?
- No, I don’t think so. WvW needs those long distances, otherwise everything is dulled to endless games of attrition.I feel that this would encourage me to explore the game world more. This also means that I would be more likely to bump into Dynamic Events, which is beneficial to the cooperative aspect of the game. I don’t see a reason for it not to be implemented.
People who don’t already explore are not going to explore just because it gets done faster. If anything, you might cause some reward-hungry people to explore, but that’s not really the kind of thing you wanna encourage.
In addition, Arenanet could monetise the concept. Perhaps the ability could cost a decent number of gems: I’m sure most players would be happy to pay real money for sufficient gems, and those who won’t can grind the gold and use the exchange.
Do you realize what you just said? You suggested a mechanic that would be absolutely gamechanging in WvW and then you want to monetize it? That would make the game very much pay-to-win. And that’s not a road you wanna get on, because it never ends well.
What I mean by the speed boost not being affected by fall damage is that you are not slowed down when you take damage from falling too far (perhaps there should be a reasonable limit, e.g. no more than 50% of total health is lost).
For the rest of your post, sorry, but we’ll have to agree to disagree. 50-100% speed boosts seem absolutely normal to me. There are MMOs which have ways of getting 300%+ movement speed, and it’s not “insane.” Likewise, I think WvW maps are too big for normal running speed, and I’m sure a lot of people agree with me. Similarly, I think that increased movement speed would encourage plenty of people to explore more, myself included.
With regard to what you are saying about making the game ‘pay-to-win,’ I already said that people can use the gold to gem exchange. I don’t think Arenanet would take the effort to implement something like this if they knew they weren’t going to get anything out of it, hence I suggested it.
