Watching VOD’s it’s just a skill effects clusterfunk, can’t notice any clutch plays or whatnot, I mean the casters didn’t even notice the AoE Moa at Lord and I can’t say I did either… During most of the game I was just watching minimap to see how things progress, cause looking at the fights is pretty pointless.

If after like 2 years they haven’t managed to clean it up I guess its not doable. Rip…, it’s just not a spectators game and probably never will be.

This. If the Thief gets caught with it’s pants down then no automatic things shouldn’t save it.

Other than that, it’s fine imo. When there’s a thief in play you take it into account. You don’t engage a 1v1 with some bunker and hope you get +1ed before they do. You go and +1 someone else. Or do a map objective. What ever. Play with the thief in mind.

I can second this. I can play other PvP maps with 40 FPS, Stronghold is ~20.

Same with zones. Caldedon Forrest, Kessex Hills, what have you, all playable at like 30 FPS. Dry top, Silverwastes: 20FPS or lower. And these “new” zones have been out for ages so it’s proof they won’t optimize anything/any more.

Stronghold only lags really bad in certain areas though. I can say that in the blue starting area it is way laggier than red starting area.

My FPS is worse than previous beta. Granted my PC isn’t top notch and framerate always sucks in newer areas like the Magooma desert or whatever (I don’t PvE), but I’ve always managed to pull a playable 40fps on Niflhel and Legacy (lower on Khylo but playable). On this map how ever its like 20 or less. Please give options to turn off useless stuff like the mile long waterfall, mist essence glow thingy and what ever else can take resources. Otherwise I literally can not partake and will have to afk every time this map is voted for.

Any 2 burst classes have above average potential to work well together, specially if you add stealth to the mix. They are not uncounterable but the lack of anti-stealth mechanics in the game certainly give them an edge in my opinion.

This may sound weird, but could there be an option to toggle off the wiggling of the reward chests that appear above the minimap in the bottom right corner? Sometimes I just don’t want to collect the rewards on the character I’m on and the wiggling can become distracting. It’s obviously designed to draw attention and that’s not necessary sometimes.

Shouldn’t Thief destealth if it attacks me even while I’m invulnerable?

I’ve had random arrows fly out of mid air, hit me, and nothing happens cause I was invulnerable. So no consequence for the thief for attacking, he can just keep sitting in stealth til my invulnerable runs out and then backstab me.
I’ve had a stealth thief just run after me and spam dagger autoattack while keeping stealth, just cause I’m invulnerable and there’s nothing I can do about it.

Is it working as intended, is thief supposed to counter classes that do single target damage and can’t do formidable AoE? If that’s the case it’s a pretty unfun mechanical way to do balance, but what ever.

I’m not here to say that it is unbalanced, I genuinely don’t know. I just want discussion whether it is or not, cause it seems to me that it’s not working like it should.

I agree with this proposition. This is a much better version of Lyssa runes. It’s true that some builds would be greatly nerfed with this change but in my opinion they shouldn’t rely on this in the first place.

It was quite exciting in BWE’s when you received this sweet purple currency called Glory for your PvP endeavors. Every point capped was money in the bank and by god when you hit that Rank milestone of a new tier and got to buy some new sweet sweet loot. It quickly became evident that it’s absolutely garbage and now I just keep all mine in the wallet hoping that my integer is greater than someone else’s thus proving me the greater warrior.

Graveyard is the thing I like least about foefire. Stacking 2 semibunkers and a main bunker is ridiculous on that map. It’s very difficult to down and stomp a second bunker on GY before the first arrives back to support him, particularly if they’re mobile, and decapping is even more unlikely.

And that’s why you don’t let Graveyard get capped. And if you do, then it’s not over, there are 2 more points and the Lord.

I dislike small points much more where you really can’t do anything than succumb to the mass AoE or get off and lose it.

i know for a fact that Azshene did not sync as I was in his team about 3-4 times. I guess he just got lucky and managed to get in the same team as me so i can carry him! But no seriously he did not sync, I was in his team 3-4 times before and we had total randoms in our team.

I find it ironic that on your stream you sync and use teamspeak “because everyone does it” and then come here to defend the people that don’t allegedly do it.

Great idea. And not even for solely team fights. When going to clocktower from the back I always look who is on the far point. It’s a real hassle to click on the guy, specially when he’s standing behind boxes. I usually just look at the name and then open the roster. I really should know which profession is there right when I come up the stairs so I can make the call whether or not to go far faster. Also watching who is trebbing from the clocktower is hard cause you barely see the name and then have to open up the roster.

If names had like a tiny 16×16px icon next to their name about profession that would be great. Toggleable from settings, of course, so there’s no reason to whine about change/additions.

In fact, if I recall, don’t the NPC-s representing professions in the mists, that you can kill, already have some sort of icons indication their profession?

Swirling winds to be a Smoke field.

That would already be far too op. With some little blast finishers you could make your entire team invisble while a teamfight for quite a long duration, so enemies drop their targets and additionally every ranged class using missiles has no chance to deal dmg. Eles would be forced to wear focus and would be mandatory for every team just and only due to this skill.

I don’t see this happening with Engineer smoke bomb right now. Swirling Winds would be very similar to it. Could reduce the size possibly. But all in all one blast finisher would be like 2-3 seconds of stealth. Could take a moment to breathe after doing the Air 5 -> Phoenix combo (since it’s blast finisher). And pop in Arcane Wave to increase it maybe, but it’s not the best time to use Arcane Wave yet so you’re really sacrificing a skill for more stealth. Or switch to earth and load up Hurl in peace. Maybe pop Magentic Wave for blast finisher if you got condis on, but it’s also an attack so could very well take you out of stealth if it hits someone.

Thieves can stealth you left and right. For ridiculous durations. And you’re saying swirling winds would be comparable to say… Shadow refuge? You’re saying Ele could be a viable alternative to Thief? That would be bloody great, don’t you think? But I don’t see this happening, even with Swirling Winds as a Smoke field.

But in my eyes it’s more comparable to Engis smoke field. Engi doesn’t even need it to survive and it’s not a mandatory thing that Engis bring their bomb kit for. While for Ele it would be very useful.

Been running glass cannon Scepter/Focus (10 arcana only, and every damage % increasing trait basically) for the past couple of weeks. I think it fits this meta better than the old Scepter/Dagger Valkarie and the Mogow style burst build. If Focus were to get a little love this could potentially bring Eles back.

The problem has always been the squishyness and no “tricks” (read: invisibility) to compensate for it. Use to have RTL to fix it but now it’s pretty much gone too so by definition you’re guaranteed to get focused down til you die. Which would be the case, but it actually isn’t since this has forced every Ele to run with lots of sustain and defence (or 1 trick ponies), gimping their damage and making them overall not effective or useful. So you don’t really get focused because you’re not really a threat and take a while to take down. Which is why I think running absolute pure glass with a Focus has been quite successful for me. And nobody suspects the lowly Elementalist wearing a defensive/condition offhand weapon. Can easily 1-burst a Thief and Mesmer or even lay massive damage onto Necros. Heavy armor classes and classes using lots of AI (minion necro, ranger, mesmer who got the drop on you and got his clones out) are still out of the question though.

So what love do I think Focus could get? 1 thing. 1 simple thing to completely turn the tables and put Ele back into the game. Swirling winds to be a Smoke field.
Yeah it sounds like wishful thinking of down in the dumps Ele, but I honestly think this would be the thing to do. With invisibility there are the obvious benefits of getting the heat off your back in teamfights and getting to dictate the fight a bit more in 1v1’s, but the other benefit is that it buys time for your Attunements to reload. It would take pressure off from having to go 20/30 points into arcana to be viable. And it would be on Focus. Not Dagger. So no stealthing and churning earth, RTLing away or “backstabing” with Fire Grab. It’s more defensive, so the Thief in stealth can’t dictate the fight and stab you in the back, so the Mesmer in stealth can’t summon his clones on you, so the Ranger pet hitting you 15% hp each hit leaves you alone for a while.

Lose every condition and gain every boon every 45 seconds for thieves, 60 seconds for Warriors. Pretty frequent proc for Necromancers using Flesh Golem too.

On the other hand absolutely useless for professions like Ele, Ranger or Engi.

It’s pretty much the rune to use on Thieves and I see more and more Warriors running it too.

The boons it gives are acceptable I guess. I mean I can wait 5 seconds, pop 1 invulnerability, what ever I need. It really helps Thieves and I doubt they want to take another hit in terms of Lyssa nerf, though should they rely on 1 rune set so much?

But the lose all conditions aspect… it gives Warriors and Thieves pretty great condition removal even though I feel they should be more susceptible to conditions due to being unable to land much on an evasive Thief and the giant health pool and armor of a Warrior.

Many (powerful) rune procs have long 90sec+ internal cooldows, I wonder why Lyssa doesn’t.

Frankly as an Elementalist I would gladly take an elite with a low cooldown that has no effect whatsoever just to proc Lyssa runes, but I guess that says more about Ele elites not Lyssa runes.

Too much burst? Nah… kind of miss the 100 blades warriors running around, those were the days. Still some Ele burst to watch out for, which is good, exciting. But usually just some boring Necro comes and dumps all his condis on you at once.

I’ll add some feedback as well then.

- Everything was so glowy and flashy, I’ve never seen it so bad. Is it because I play on lowest settings? Maybe casters could turn settings down for the sake of viewers while ANet keeps trying to tone the effects down overall.

- Builds. I don’t know if I’m only one, but I’d definitely like to see a small review of everyone’s build before the match, to get an idea exactly what they’re doing. Otherwise every game will simply be 5 professions vs another 5 professions and we actually have no idea what the teams are trying to accomplish and what they are doing to earn their win. Can delay stream to prevent teams changing comp based on what you show.

- Also I hope you get 480p on Twitch for these who can’t download 720p speeds, because 360p was very bad quality, can’t even read names. French stream had 480p and they weren’t even as popular. They showed builds a little also.

New sPvP Title?

Adding titles is no easy feat.

It takes time to get title changes to editors for writing (any text/title change has to be edited). This can take a week or more.
Have to then get the title changes to writers.
Then have to make sure they work with artists for any visual title changes.
They also have to work with sound to make sure titles have sound for any changes.
They have to work with title icon artists for icons if they’re needed.
They have to make sure the new titles get through multiple stages of QA testing.
Then with the changes in, they get time to play with the titles before they do final changes.
While doing all this, they have to take the current title meta, be it in dungeons/wvw/pvp, and from that, try to extrapolate what titles need to be added a few months in advance.

“Soon” there will be solo que supposedly. But as far as rank goes, nope there is nothing you can do, as I’m in my 40s and still get matched up with rank 1s, 10s and 20s quite often, with me or against me.

When you log in to Guild Wars 2, you’ll receive a mail from both Captain Evon Gnashblade and Captain Ellen Kiel detailing the current situation. Each Captain is trying to accrue influence with the Zephyr Sanctum and will offer you a Support Token to get started on helping their cause. Click the “Show Me” button at the bottom of the mail to find out where to take your Support Token.

Didn’t get mail. Well, I think I did, when I first logged into my alt. But I didn’t want to read it, cause it was my alt. So I logged onto my main, and there was no mail. Then I logged back to my alt and there was also no new mail.

Well the thing about retaliation is, that you can choose to not attack if you see that enemy has retaliation boon. But you can’t take back your conditions.

Also during PvP I’d rather have the minimap locked and centered. Right now one has to zoom out quite a lot to see the whole map and then things become so tiny that it’s hard to make out the whereabouts of your teammates.

I play only WvW.

All my characters have Melandru + Lemongrass soup = -65% condition duration. Now add in condition removals. I see no problems so agree with Kodiak "I disapprove of this thread’.

I only suggested to buff Elementalist condition removal from allies (not self). Sure, an Elementalist doesn’t see a problem in WvW, specced to deal with conditions. But that’s not where I’m coming from.

I’m coming from playing sPvP, against comps that include 2 Necros and an Engineer. Maybe a Ranger. Even Mesmers apply condis like it ain’t no thing. In team fights this is very condition heavy. And yes, I can pop Healing Rain to remove 2 conditions from everyone over 6 seconds, dodge in water to remove a third one and even save myself with Cleansing Fire, but that is useless if the rest of my team still goes down. I’d like to help out a little more, but frankly when such a condition heavy team fight happens I may as well just start walking to the next point and leave my team to get stomped.

I’m not saying that other professions don’t have the tools to deal with conditions. I’m saying many simply don’t take these options in order to be more competent at other areas. And is it such a bad thing if a teammate could compensate for that then? Or is it supposed to be every man for himself?

With these recent patches conditions have been taking over. Maybe instead of nerfing them buff condition removal a bit. I got 2 skill suggestions that would help Eles remove condis from others, thus adding more team coordination element to the game.

Cleansing Fire got it’s stunbreaker removed. Now it’s not that great. How about make it remove condis from nearby allies as well, not just from self? And if traited to give Vigor, Regeneration or Might add that to allies as well.

Ether Renewal. The ultimate condition muncher. But doesn’t really help allies. What if you channeled it near teammates and it would remove some of their conditions as well? Maybe not with every tick, but still, would make Ele valuable in team fight and put much emphasis on interrupting the channel. Also I noticed it doesn’t have a skill “type”. How about make it an Aura. It could grant the Aura of the Attunement you are in, or some new cool Aura, that removes condis on hit or something. And could be traited to Share it, grant Swiftness, Fury, Protection… all the possibilities.

Every ~2 minutes the daily/monthly UI collapses. Have to keep reopening it exactly like with the Hero UI before. I got room for Personal Story, Daily, Hearts, Events, Special Events, all to stay open at once. Please provide an option to lock them or something.

I’ve gone for maximum damage on Staff and laid everything I’ve got onto Niflhel mid point from the high ground while there was a big teamfight going on. Only one who bothers to stand on point is the Guardian who completely outhealed/blocked me, rest of the enemies were just mobile burst who I can’t force to stand in lava font for more than a second and they just took out my team one by one. There’s just not enough reliable damage there. I would have been better off stacking condis as a Necro from up there. Or would have been much more help if I was a ridiculously tanky Guardian on the point, a ridiculously bursty Thief or a Warrior chasing down the enemys. There’s just no place for the “mage” in this game I’m afraid.

Maybe one could Ctrl + Right Click minis, food, boosters etc in their inventory (like autoattack skills right now) which would spawn minis in every zone, consume food and boosters when they run out and also prevent depositing as collectibles.

Yes I tested it as well and it has no effect whatsoever as you already get 10% speed buff from a minor trait.

And the minor doesn’t stack with Signet of Air either.

Best to go with quick glyphs trait, boon on glyph use trait and then spam healing glyph for permanent swiftness which is fastest moving speed possible (25%, not 33% like advertised).

The Thieves signet that gives 25% actually gives 20% movement speed. But that’s pretty close to passive permanent swiftness. Soon Rangers will get it too.

I don’t know why Swiftness is advertised to give 33% speed boost while it only gives 25%. Maybe they mean that it improves 33% if the base speed is taken in-combat and once you get out of combat the speed is 33% faster compared to that? Because otherwise it’s 25% for both in and out of combat.

Oh and the Elementalist trait that improves 15% movement speed when wielding a dagger only works with main hand dagger, improves speed by 10% not 15 and only works in combat and doesn’t stack with Swiftness or anything (nothing does, ever) so it’s quite useless as well.

And then there are some Armor Runes that improve speed by 7% while under effects of Swiftness – those do absolutely nothing, in or out of combat, with or without Swiftness.

I say nay (Edit: to clarify, I say nay to saying nay to rng). I say react to the situation and adapt or simply build around it. PvP would get stale if it weren’t for RNG. Necro traited to do massive 1252314 second fears, Guardian has no chance. Fight ends the same every time. Bring in RNG of the condi removal – Guardian has a chance. Take out RNG from the condi removal – Guardian nullifys Necros fear every time and again we are lopsided.

Ok that was a stupid example, definitely not something that we see in game or anything. But right now we don’t even get enough info after death to see who did what damage, what effects were in play and how things turned out. We don’t even notice the RNG things and don’t appreciate them, but when we get decent data you will see.

RNG stops from there being ridiculously total 100% complete counters.

And the Engineer RNG, it’s not like it matters if you get Tornado or Juggernaut, you’re dead either way.

Need ingame LFG or guesting desperately. It’s 7am here. Would like to play GW2. 100% map completion, nothing to do here. I don’t do WvW due to low FPS. So all that’s left is dungeons. Not a single person advertising anything in LA. gw2lfg is full of NA ads, not a single Europe one. I’m sure there are 4 people looking to do any dungeon at this time, but there’s no way for me to find them. And there are probably plenty of people up for stuff at NA, but there’s no way of getting over there and getting back without waiting a week.

Well thank god, it’s horrifying walking up to the treb as a glass and be greeted with 2 trucks. Then again I bet it was horrifying for mesmers to lose their treb to 1 meteor shower and then some, so I guess it’s fair game. Or maybe not cause they repair it quite quickly with portal. Will the cd increase affect that?

While at it lets fix bosses on Niflhel. Chieftain is significantly harder to solo than svanir. Mine is easier to defend than henge (on henge ranged attacker can los on higher ground really good) and the Keep point is moved to the left hitting the wall and it’s possible to cap the point while being entirely hidden behind the wall.

Rain and treb shots in Khylo are real FPS downers. I mess up the shortcut jumps to clocktower a lot due to <20 FPS.

Honestly, I think I can live without water for a week, but if the bathtub isn’t full next week then I’ll really need sips every so often cause waiting for yet another tub-full would be tough.

The 20% will work for the Dragon Tooth as well, as long as your in Water Attunement before it lands.

Ah, stupid me. Does gale last long enough though? It is only a 2s duration and DT isn’t known for its fast animation time.

It does, just barely. So barely that you have to switch to fire mid-cast, not wait for the confirmation that the player is knocked down.

And yes, DT animation is slow, so slow in fact that you have time to cast Phoenix as well before switching to Water for the 20% boost.

When it all comes together the DT for me hit 6.4k, coupled with Arcane Wave 3.3k and Arcane Blast 3.3k. All on a Necro, probably minimum amount of Toughness possible. Followed up with the Daze (2.6s, mesmer runes) so he couldn’t heal and after that there’s complete lack of damage unless you have the rocks ready to throw in Earth + autoattack.

Focus really helps with the lack of survivability that comes with a Berserkers amulet.

A fully 100% random tourney system (where all teams are random and no teams are an organized 5-person team) is something we can look at down the road, but I think there are many other things that are more important to get finished first (which I spoke about in my blog).

This is the only thing that I’m looking forward to. But of course not completely random. Right now in Free tournaments the team can consist of 4 rank 30s and then 1 rank 1. Yes, literally rank 1 people just come to tourneys. That’s as good as a 4man team. So what I’m looking forward to is Solo Que where you are qued up with people around your rank in both your and enemy team. But with the current playerbase this can’t probably be achieved, so I’m just fine if everyone is at least rank 10. But not 1, god, not rank 1.

Honestly I don’t see why this feature is for “down the road” as all the code for tournaments is in place. All the work that needs to be done is just create a new tournament type called Solo Tournament and only allow to submit 1man rosters there.
Guess you’re worried that que times for the other 2 tournaments would increase even more cause of that? Well how are private servers gonna not do that either?
