I’m posting this here because there is no more direct line of communication to Anet developers, which is a shame because forums do not guarantee that they can read everything, however in this case I believe I am dealing with a game-breaking issue, and one that can potentially kill the game’s playerbase.
What I’m directly referring to is the issue that is going on with the new Teq fight and its described as such: Only a few servers (such as jade quarry, blackgate, crystal desert, tarnished coast) have a consistent amount of people capable of killing Teq on at a given time. The players that are NOT on these servers will guest to the servers with large groups and end up sitting in overflow for hours not able to get a kill until they can get into the main server for sparkfly fen. For example I spent 6 hours today sitting in overflow unable to get into the main server, and by the time i was able to get into the main server most of the players logged off and the group was no longer able to kill Teq.
In summary: There are hundreds if not thousands of players that sit in overflow for hours unable to get kills when there are plenty of less populated servers that they could occupy
The game-breaker: if this continues, players will stop trying to kill Teq and world bosses will frequent a low constant player base, just like what happened to dungeons.
KEEP IN MIND the only reason that people run dungeons at the frequency they do now is because of gw2lfg.com. If it wasn’t for that
website nobody would be doing dungeons because there is a severe lack of networking to bring players together.
Suggested Solution: A system similar to LFG that groups players from different servers together on a less populated server so they are not in overflow and are not wasting their time.
Normally what happens in mmo’s is that if the game fails to bring together players to do what they want to do, then the game has failed on a fundamental basis, and then people stop playing the game. It is in Anet’s best interest to implement networking that allows players to group up and accomplish things, otherwise its just an empty world.
What i really hope is that someone at Anet prints this out on a physical piece of paper and physically WALKS to the networking team leader and says “this needs to be implemented like NOW”
The best server ive been on is JQ anywhere from 9pm to midnight (PST), only server ive got a kill on
The title says it all. The more casual players are probably giving up at this point, which means its just the smaller hardcore base that’s still seriously trying. Our best bet is to all guest on one server and go all in.
Any ideas for the host server?
I would say gate of madness but i think we are more of a daytime server. Although the first day of Teq, we had well over 100 participants and even a dev at the splintered coast, wide charr it was.
We need to get a bunch of guests on one server to get a huge serious effort for this.
The hardcore players on most servers number in the few dozens, and all the casual players probably have stopped trying by now.
There needs to be a host server and we should set a date and time that everyone plans to get on and do a serious attempt
Also confirming that the turret is bugged.
And I definitely don’t want to use the mortar! I want to blow some undead up with the tank and have some fun, and I only get this single mission to do it! So i’ll have to wait until its fixed before completing the mission.
this is just my personal re-interpretation of the end of this mission: http://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/Liberating_Apatia
i wrote it as a work that wouldn’t necessarily be fiction, but fantasy in general. i would like to someday write fantasy, so this is a work of learning, so please give critque

there was little much of her left, of her body anyways. what remained was a rotting husk with bits and scraps of rotting tissue attached, ambling and wobbling in its unmoving cage.
i pulled a broad head and tilted the shot so that it would strike flat, i bent my bow and sent it into the back of the skull, surprisingly little juices flowed from something so rotted.
“she was your admirer, warmaster, you would do her honor to bury her proper.”
“we shall, and later we will deliver her sword to her stead and give her final act to the skald”
and what a better way to honor a nord. with pinched noses and some speed we layed the corpse and its head on the main platform, just above the water level. the so called “tower” as we had called it before our assault was little more than a conglomeration of erected ship-masts, and various wreckage tied together beneath the placid lake, with various platforms and scaffolding ascending a few stories above the deck. at the center on the deck was a well built structure, clearly not of the demons’ making, perhaps it may have been a collapsed lighthouse, pulled into the lake by the furious downpour during the days of settlement when stone lighthouses were yet to be quarried.
we gathered as much wood that was needed, and with a few trys we lit the largest pyre not seen by a nord for a few generations. While we mounted and checked our gear we watched the foul snake hive immolate and slowly collapse upon itself, spouting slow and pronounced groans, from those masts once cut from ancient trees before the first age.
as we rode off, the great beasts and mosshearts of these marshes gathered toward the large smoke tower above the fetid lake, and as the great masts creaked and slammed back into the water from whence they came, the few surviving krait slithered and scrambled with great might and muscle onto the banks that they had slid from so long ago, and they were quickly devoured by the boars and the skelks.
All it needed was but a push, and the great maw of the wilds swallowed the slavers’ legacy whole.
I agree that the voice acting sucks. I can’t speak for all of it, but the vast majority of the VA that i have experienced has been just so pointless. It seems the VA prioritized sounding like their characters more than actually speaking as if they were there in the situation themselves. There words have almost no weight or impact the majority of the time.
For having over several feature film’s worth of dialogue, it is sure an enormous letdown that so much of it has so little emotion.
Some people have to work, and go to school, and other things, and when you have a chapter styled event such as this, where you only have the last half of the week to do a certain part, some people won’t be able to knock this stuff out during the week, let alone that you weren’t able to do certain things on the weekend because it wasn’t released yet.
Couple this with the ridiculous drop rates on the exotics (and any every other worthwhile item). you have an overall unsatisfying event.
Other games such as Rift and WoW usually give at least two weeks for their seasonal events, which is plenty of time and all of it is available to the players on day 1. There’s also the fact that these games use token systems for their events, which means that players have a real outlook on the items that they will be able to get based on the time they put in, where in gw2, you can run mad king over 100 times and not get the exotics you want.
That’s absolutely ridiculous, and its clearly just NCSoft instilling a simple scarcity strategy in order to shove their gem economy down our throats. Knowing this is how they’re going to handle their seasonal events, it seems unappealing to put so much time into them.
i completely agree, the variety is poor, and the overall design of the majority of armors is misplaced and poorly imagined. Seriously, only heavy armor got any real attention.
lunatic inquisition is a great game, for a minigame, its amazing, and its fun, especially when the villagers know the smaller facets of evading and countering lunatics.
the biggest problem with this game, and I will emphasize that it is a critical flaw in that it ruins the game entirely, is really the deipairity between the amount of effort required for one side to win. where a band of villagers requires a synchronized effort, either via building npcs, or roaming with weapons, it would only take one or two lunatics to take a villager team apart using the simplest of tactics.
because of this disparity – the fact that a coordinated team has to spend at least half of the match delivering supplies just to have a chance, makes playing the game the way it was meant to be played pointless. its just way too easy to lose, so why even try? (this is where the meta is right now)
lunatic strategy is very simple, you chase and kill. lunatics are seemingly very powerful in that they have some 6 skills that can virtually incapacitate a villager (5 mad king skills + fear), and combine with combat slowdown (loss of runspeed in combat), a typical lunatic poses an enormous threat to even a seasoned villager. im serious, a complete imbecile can be good at lunatic, you dont even have to be good at guild wars 2 to be good on the lunatic team, you just have to be able to mash buttons
i think the most direct way to amend this game would be to make villagers stronger either by increasing the amount of hits they can take
or there is the option of making lunatics weaker, or more limited in ability: one way would be to make the first lunatic the “alpha zombie” which means they would have more abilities then any lunatic converted after the game started.
i think making all of the beseeching skills only available to the alpha lunatic would be reasonable, or the scarecrow skill
these are just ideas, and are theoretical, its hard to say what the best improvement could be until the game recieves new implementations. of course this is a halloween minigame, but i wouldn’t have typed this if hadn’t already had so much fun playing it. I think this game has alot to offer and would make an excellent addition to gw2 arena play and pvp in general, and it absolutely deserves more attention.
I know norn are supposed to be large and burly, But really? I don’t want to look like a football player or some gears of war character. Norn need some refinement.
These shoulderpads aren’t even touching, that’s just silly!
yes, i seriously disliked how ridiculous they made the norn proportions
Setting shaders to low will remove any ground detail but it will show foliage, while setting it to medium or high removes foliage completely?
Why is this? And how can i make foliage show up all the time?
