Carapace (Heavy) Armor

The female heavy armor is modeled after the Monarch butterfly wing. The male version not looking the same is because anet makes male and female armor look dissimilar even when there is no real reason to do so. They could have given males the butterfly motif also but instead they made the male version blander and more generic. imo there’s more reason to update the male version to resemble the female version than there is to remove the butterfly motif completely.

Modeled after the wing? I don’t see it. The only things I see modeled after the butterfly are the actual butterflies and the wing on the buttcape. Nothing else on the armor has an even remotely similar feel to it. All of the lines are too clean, all of the edges are too sharp.

Does anyone else wish they could take the butterfly stuff off of their carapce armor? Especially for the females out there that are stuck with the female-modeled armor?

Like I’d LOVE to take the wing off the heavy bottoms I have, I think it’d only improve the whole look, frankly. As it is I feel like they have this absolutely gorgeous armor sullied with a slapped on butterfly theme.

Anyone feel the same?

You mean the (Shoulder) butterfly? no, my eles look would be ruined with out it, took me forever to find (a) decent look, I don’t know what happened between GW1 and GW2, in GW1 I could pretty much be happy with 95% of all of them GW2 is the opposite maybe I just got super-critical and picky as I aged.

I mean all the butterflies. Heck on the male heavy bottom it looks like a MOTH wing, not even a butterfly wing. On the female heavy bottom it it’s this gross butterfly wing slapped on top of what is otherwise a well designed buttcape.

Note I asked, however, if anyone wished they could take it off, not if anyone wished it wasn’t a part of the armor as a whole. :p

Sure, maybe the look goes well with the light armor, but it’s kinda designed to go well with it, but the only thing butterfly on the heavy pieces are the random wing forcibly attached to the butt cape and the random butterflies on the left shoulder piece. Everything else is all ankhs and very Egyptian/Elonian style patterns for the heavy armor.

It just.. doesn’t match, it feels very thrown on.

If the armor had a butterfly motif, sure, it wouldn’t be so bad, but the butterflies are all just… added on on the heavy armor, the designs on the armor is completely different.

Even the wings on the shoulder parts of the male and female shoulder pieces look more hawk or bird-like. All of the wing designs on the armor look bird-like in a sort of Elonian/Egyptian style, most definitely NOT butterfly regardless of male or female.

The light armor? Much different. The butterflies kinda fit in there.

The patterns are even on the medium armor.

But on the heavy? PFFT. It just looks thrown on.

But on /any/ of the sets they can be removed and the set would still look great. I can understand it fitting into the look of some characters, but I really really wish there was a second set or something that didn’t have it on.

Here !! But only the Greatsword, can’t think of any pure black color beside this one.

Exotic version https://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/Reaper's_Greatsword

Ascended version https://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/Dark_Harvest

Also Dominator and Shadow weapon collection kinda black but not plain black

Dominator Skins https://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/Dominator_Weapon_Collection

Shadow Skins https://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/Shadow_weapon_skins

The greatsword’s great. But it’s a bit disappointing there aren’t any other black weapons. Ahh well, thanks! I had seen the others in the wiki, but I wasn’t sure if I was missing something or not, guess not. Thanks for your time.

I’m looking for black weapons. So far the best I’ve found is the Ebon Vanguard stuff, but the black isn’t very black and there’s gold on it as well, which is a nice accent, but still, not exactly great.

Are there any just sort of plain black weapons?

Also, as an aside, any word on being able to dye your weapons? I mean.. this is almost a joke question, really, as I’m pretty sure it ain’t happening, but, hey, might as well ask, too.

Wurm placement checks pathing (intended?)

Noticed that the placement skill for the flesh wurm checks pathing which I think seems real stupid, it should only do that on the secondary use of the skill.

Im thinking surely im not the only one who noticed it so have the devs ever responded about it being intended behaviour or is it a bug?

IIRC they changed it when they did the whole blink overhaul, they considered the wurm a blink.. albeit one that you target.. but still. So now its placement checks pathing and its teleport is as useful as a blink, meaning even a small rock can prevent you from successfully pathing to it.

Why they decided to make it so you could only place it where you could path to I have no idea since they already changed the teleport to not work if obstructed.. but, hey, that’s ANet for ya.

It’s kind of a weird thing that the stats are so limited on it, compared to the other HoT armor prizes. They’re not worthless though, since they can be salvaged and transmutation charges can be gotten for free from daily rewards.

Good point. I had totally forgotten about salvaging. Wait you can salvage bound exotics? Huh. Didn’t know you could do that.

You should be able to, as well as mystic forge them. I’m going to confirm and come back to rant if that’s not the case.

Edit: You certainly can salvage/forge

The more you know! Thanks for the insight. The whole thing had gotten me kinda bummed, but you’ve helped a lot.

Doesn’t make the fact they’re pre-statted any less annoying, but hey. At least they aren’t worthless.

Why? Today I got my first shiny box of Leystone gear, I was happy and kind of excited ’cause the armor looked really neat!

…then I come to find that it’s /all/ wanderer’s gear.

All of it.

It’s all pre-statted. Why is this a thing? Is this how the other armors from previous zones are? All pre-statted?

I wouldn’t know because I’ve been kinda saving up, but with my look this Leystone goes great, I was just really hoping I’d be able to choose my own stats instead of have to waste another trans charge to get a piece of gear with the stats I actually want.

I don’t know why they’d do this sort of thing, it’s frankly kind of offensive. I mean giving you gear that you get to pick the stats of has been so popular and has gone so well to this point that it just seems bad form to suddenly lock stats on gear like this, don’t you think?

Maybe it’s just me. But now I have a box of worthless armor. I’m so disappointed I’m tempted to just throw the entire thing away because it’s just that worthless to me. I know that seems rather petty of me, I won’t deny that it is, yet at this point it makes me rather unhappy with the game.

Discovering this hasn’t ruined my day or anything, just lessened my opinion of the game a little bit more. I mean do I really have to wiki /every/ single piece of BoA/BoP equipment I want just to see if I have to waste a trans charge to use the skin or if I can get it in stats I want?

The thing is, it’s time for war again. We had our fun with the kiddies, but none of these people are emotionally or physically prepared for this war. They helped bring down a Scooby Doo villain AFTER the villain had won. They couldn’t even keep tabs on Scarlet, this insane salad that was massing all these resources to build these utterly ridiculous doomsday devices.

It was fun while it lasted, not nearly fighting a war against Dragon-levels of stress, but with Mortie out and about it’s time to drop the kids off to daycare and get with some real soldiers again, people who aren’t emotional wrecks that have the training and skill to not weigh the PC down when the four out of the five of them get downed by a single Vinetooth.

Or when one of them has a hissy-fit and almost gets herself killed by Inquest, or.. well.. you get it.

The fact that we even have the kid with us should be legitimately criminal if it already isn’t. She’s a crippled child and we’re just somehow OK bringing her along? WHAT?!

The fact of the matter is these five have had their time in the limelight, it’s time for other people, perhaps compelling characters from before that are real soldiers, to step up. This season should not have been all about the Scooby Doo gang. Frankly WE, as the PC, are just too important and too good to be fighting a WAR with these four slightly skilled adults and one CHILD.

While I will give you that, sure, maybe they did have their place and time and we weren’t really working on Pact things, that time is OVER. It was OVER the moment that the Scooby Doo gang failed to stop Scarlet. It was over when Mortie made himself known to the world.

They should never have gone with us and their role should have stopped well before now, but, at least, it should most definitely stop now. They do not belong here, we do not belong with them, and right now we, the player, are playing the role of Scrappy Doo, the six person in the ol’ Mystery Machine. The one that simply does not belong with these street-level crime fighters.

Yet the game is about us, it follows us, our movements, our actions, whether we’re the main character or not that’s how it goes, so it’s time to shift the light onto other characters. It’s time for the player character to move to greener pastures, to ditch “DE 2.0” and get together with some actual soldiers to do some soldierin’ and fight this WAR.

Really, these “biconics” kitten many are calling them for some bizarre reason (they literally have nothing to do with what biconic actually means,) are done. DE 2 is over, these civilians should go back to their day jobs and let the pact, actual soldiers, and myself handle this war.

These people had their own goals, their own lives to live, and yet, for some unknown reason, they’re still here.. with us.. getting into situations they can’t handle that we have to constantly bail them out of. The fact that they’re all alive still is literally just plot armor, they should be dead, they can’t handle this war, they simply aren’t good enough to be with us on our /real/ journies to fight our /real/ fight.

As far as I was concerned after I became leader, Edit: sorry “commander,” of the Pact I was working with/for the pact the entire time. If it was investigating something that might pertain to an elder dragon OR to the continued peace between peoples which made the Pact possible, which it almost always was in some way or another, it was Pact business.

Anything before us becoming the commander we didn’t have people to pal around with anyway. We were solo.

Yet doing stuff to fight off dragon minions, help the pact’s allies stay protected, or simply helping a renown adventuring guild, in this case DE, is hardly out of the purview of pact ideas, especially since all the actions were focused on figuring out how to find some sort of edge /against/ the Elder Dragons that’s all within stuff the Pact can focus on.

And the start of Season 2 we were alone, we weren’t traveling with DE 2.0 at that time, either. Yet once it became obvious that it was a dragon-based multi-“national” threat then it was Pact business and the Commander could have started taking some commandos or the like along.

Finally DE wasn’t really part of the pact officially, they were just an adventurer’s guild which ultimately decided to help the Pact.

And at the end of S2 if the commander had been traveling with a squad of soldiers since the beginning it only makes sense that they’d have been assigned to the commander at that point, thus not on the fronts, crucial for defense, or on the fleet.

The commander is kind of like the special forces person of the Pact, they work with and for the benefit of the Pact because they’re a part of it, but they generally aren’t on the front lines, they’re working other angles to try to make sure they get ahead of the elder dragons or stop threats before they arise.

The commander would still be this with pact forces, but they wouldn’t be dragging crippled kids and untrained civilians into the mix if they were, which would, overall, just be FAR more responsible a thing to do as such an important military and political figure.

Also, the Pact commander is working with DE 2.0 because s/he felt s/he was better at being in an independent, small group than leading an army. Think about it. You always were in a small frontal assault as the Pact Commander – that was your thing. The planning was always done by Trahearne and the Order leaders. It wasn’t the Pact Commander’s job – s/he led the charge.

I can understand everything else except this part. Why DE 2.0. Why not, like I said earlier, the “A-team” of the pact? Why is it these random civvies? Wouldn’t it raise morale to see that the commander trusted the pact and its training to at least some extent, even if they operated more or less outside the pact?

It just doesn’t seem right to take these civvies, including a crippled kid, up against all these mega-threats and into all these high-danger environs when there’s got to be at least one “commando squad” or some “A-team” of soldiers that would have worked out better than civvies, right?

Ah, thanks for the reminders Vayne.

I had totally forgotten about all that. Guess I didn’t think they were important enough to remember at the time.

And I only just realized I had no idea where they came from or how I knew them until today when I realized that I was traipsing around with these randos instead of Pact Soldiers.. which would only make sense.

Like you’d think I’d have the A-Team of the Pact.. but then, on that note… Why does it seem like the Pact doesn’t actually have any soldiers that know what they’re doing?

Like… How did we even kill Zhaitan?

I know, I know.. Airships.

Yet, on that note, why was our strategy for defeating Mortie to just.. FIRE RANDOMLY INTO THE JUNGLE?

Like.. who seriously thought that would work and why wasn’t I briefed on this strategy so I could tell them “Yeah, that’s not gonna work?”

I mean.. we’re not in the Federation here, we don’t have phasers and quantum torpedoes.. we have cannons.. and there were massive massive trees in the way of this dragon whom was known to be under the ground.

I feel like if I had been teamed up with Pact people and had taken a more proactive role in the pact instead of just being thought of as “the emergency stuff doer” that things would have gone.. a lot less… bad.

I legitimately feel like me joining up with these random people is actively hindering my ability to be anything other than the “hero of the hour.” That it actively hurts my reputation with the Pact soldiers and their morale, since I apparently would rather group up with a bunch of non-soldier civilians than with my own soldiers.

About that. Said civilians all feel very…

Special for the sake of being special, especially the super smart crippled kid that is allowed to go on mega-dangerous adventures.

Zhaitan was different than Mordremoth. First of all, for Zhaitan, we had already starved him, partially blinded him, and taken away his ability to make more undead in the story. And Trahearne was an expert on Orr. No one knew anything about Mordremoth. It was a complete unknown.

The other part of the Zhaitan equation isn’t airships. It was one very specific weapon, an anti-dragon magic ray developed by Professor Gor. If you don’t do that specific Asuran story you might not know about it (actually there are two stories with Gor) but we spent 10 levels of the personal story just weakening Zhaitan before we ever faced it, and then we had the technology made by Gor.

But Mordremoth controlled the jungle and the fleet never got near him.

There are smart people in the pact, but even smart people try to repeat stuff that worked the first time.

You mention doing what worked last time.

Why didn’t we?

You say it yourself, we did a ton of stuff before confronting Zhaitan. So why didn’t we do a ton of stuff before going after Mortie? Surely we should have actively tried to do the same things we did with Zhaitan, starve it, blind it, etc, etc. Why did we just go in cannons blazing and expect something to happen in our favor?

It doesn’t make sense. We had made virtually no preparations. I mean we had one dragon already awake and were able to do everything we did to it.. so surely having another one wake up wasn’t a huge deal if we could just go through and cripple it all over again.

The only thing we did is make a weak foothold and do our best to push in, darn the consequences, as if we were some nervous teen guy after prom.

So little sense. Why did any of the military professionals agree with this course of action considering what it took to actually take down Zhaitan?

Yeah, I didn’t care for him at all.

I’m perfectly fine with him being a non-thing. I just wish he had been a non-thing before he became a thing in the first place.

As a character he was pretty bland and inspired a lot of disdain because he felt shoehorned into an important role because he knew more about ONE dragon than anyone else.

Not for his ability to lead, not for his ability to inspire, no. Because he knew more about a single dragon than anyone else did. That’s it.

Who’s charge was it to lead? Ours. To inspire? Ours. To kick heinie? Ours. (The player.) Who got most of the credit? Him. Because he got a bunch of low-flying airships made and blew a big slow-moving target out of the sky with them.

It was obvious he had no idea what he was actually doing when we did the whole Morde thing. I mean.. what kind of strategy was “Take all the airships and hover just above the canopy of the jungle then randomly fire into the jungle?”

Like.. everyone with any sort of tactical sense would have both questioned and refused to do that. It was literally the worst plan in the history of plans. Would have been better off using that searing cauldron again or something to clear kitten out and send in ground troops that way.

But, hey… This is what we get when we put the guy who has no idea what he’s doing in charge.

Yet, I digress. Frankly the only good way to have handled Treehorn was to never have had him as a character in the first place. It should have been someone else, or at least they should have made him more than just “random tree scholar dude,” you know. Someone with some real qualifications, which he simply didn’t have.

Then again there’s so little sense in the Pact as a whole I suppose I’m not surprised everyone was eager to fire at nothing and pretend it would actually do anything as a strategy.

lots of damage and hard to kill

Game designers typically avoid giving both of those qualities to the same build. It causes balance issues if you do.

Oh, I see. They’re happy to give you tiny damage and the ability to pretty much not be killed, but not the ability to be /hard/ to kill and hit hard… like virtually every Elite and above already has.

Brilliant!

How would you redesign the ranger?

in Ranger

Posted by: trianglecubed.3750

trianglecubed.3750

Personally I’d like to see the Ranger more like the Hunter in WoW. Now hear me out before you flame about things being like WoW and how we should hate everything about that game and so on.

The pet in WoW has a lot more functionality than the one here, and the Hunter doesn’t have to devote her abilities or her kit, for the most part to making her pet viable, it just /is/ due to its abilities. But she can support them and make them better.

Here, however? Their AI is terrible, their abilities are sparse, and to really make them viable you have to utilize your utility bar for pet-specific utilities such as Guard, Protect Me, etc. It’s terrible. That takes /your/ utility away and gives it to one of the entities with the worst AI in the game.

Yet if you don’t spec for your pet then there really isn’t much point in having one other than the damage they /might/ do if they can keep up to your target or aren’t dead in a corner somewhere.

Two simple fixes would make the pets so much better, allow melee pets to attack while moving, like literally every player already can, and allow us to utilize a “guard” like ability that’s just naturally on the pet’s bar and not a utility, letting us put our pet someplace for an indefinite amount of time and keep it there as long as we don’t get too far away from it.

In redesigning the Ranger I’d make it so that all of the pet boons would be associated to the BM tree. The beast mastery tree would unlock one or two extra abilities for the pet, make it so that certain things are passively applied always or in certain circumstances, and perhaps even have one of the new abilities be an additional “use” ability like F2 or whichever it is already that lets you use the pet ability.

Then all of your utilities could be focused entirely around you, the Ranger. If you don’t spec int BM then you’d personally be stronger but your pet wouldn’t make as much of an impact, meaning you’d probably be focused more heavily by mobs and the like, whereas if you go BM then your pet will compensate for your less damage, or support if you spec that way instead of say.. damage or tanking (since there’s three options in each “tier” of the spec having them as sort of “support, damage, and tank” makes sense to me.)

Overall I feel as though the Ranger’s pretty solid, the problem is that ANet at the same time tries to make the Ranger and Pet both one being and totally separate beings and that just ends up making them this weird… grey.. mass of… not super functional. Yet by doing this it would allow the ranger to keep their utilities for themselves and make the pet actually viable.

Those are the only real changes I feel I’d make to the Ranger as it currently is.

Though I’m sure others wouldn’t mind a PVP tanker build, either, if you’ve got that up your sleeve.

Raid tanks don’t have to take that much damage tho. In fact except for Xera I’ve tanked on a full dps guard with only a single +5 toughness infusion. Your “tankyness” comes from active mitigation like dodges/blocks.

Really? That’s interesting to know. But that still doesn’t help with a build. If you’ve raid tanked with what you’ve got I’d love to hear about it!

http://qtfy.enjin.com/guardian

Scroll down to the hammer build. It’s gonna be at a huge disadvantage at xera tho since ideally you wanna tank her at the edge of the arena. Never tried since chronos are much better tanks in raids anyway.

Cool! Thanks a bunch. I really appreciate your input.

Make pet stowable - A must

in Ranger

Posted by: trianglecubed.3750

trianglecubed.3750

A problem a lot of the melee pets have is that they all seem to have to stand still in order to attack you. If ANet took that restriction away that would be a big improvement as a whole.

However offering more control over your pets, hell, control that another game with pets, World of Warcraft, (Ooh no, she mentioned WoW! HATE HATE HATE, FLAME FLAME FLAME!) No, no, just hear me out, now.

While it’s been a while since I’ve played that game I have to say that as a hunter with a pet the control system for said pets was pretty on par. You could make them go to an area to guard, you could make them passive, set them to super aggro, etc, and, best of all, they could attack while moving.

I mean.. come on, we shouldn’t need ranged pets just to attack moving targets. Virtually every class has the ability to move while attacking, there are only a few things that we actually have to stand still for and yet.. our pets really can’t. Our pets are just like standard mobs, if you’re moving around, especially if you’re ahead of them, they can chase you.. but that’s pretty much it.

It’s sad. Frankly I think those two things would alleviate a lot of the problems that pets have. To recap, make it so pets can attack while moving and make it so you can have them “guard” an area until we recall them or go a certain distance away from them. It should also be on the pet bar and not use a utility slot (because using a utility slot for guard is literally the stupidest idea ever and the person that came up with that should be demoted.)

These two things would fix a lot of issues with pets.

However if you wanted to make them even better, make it so that if a pet is on passive mobs simply don’t even “see” them, won’t attack them, won’t go after them, won’t target them, etc. Could also make it so that they can’t be affected by conditions, aoes, etc. However if you use a pet-based skill, or if you change their “stance” in combat they remain targetable and are no longer considered passive. Though that’s just a suggestion, the other two are absolute necessities.

Thoughts?

Where did these people even come from? How did the PC end up even getting together with them and why didn’t I have a say in the matter?

I mean.. as the pact commander why is it I didn’t find some really awesome soldiers from the pact to pal around with instead of these randos? It doesn’t make any sense to me that I decided to start adventuring with a crippled kid, the one and only private eye in the world, a random noble, and some random norn.

I had no connection to these people, no reason to join up with them. I mean as the pact commander you’d think I’d get to know some of the people I’m actually, you know, commanding… but.. nope!

I mean.. who in their right mind would allow a crippled little girl to go gallivanting along with you regardless of how brilliant she is or how powerful her golem suit seems to be? Like am I the most irresponsible person in the world or something? Come on!

Just my thoughts on these people.. they all feel very shoehorned in. And I don’t wanna hear about external literature or other stuff like that. I’ve always firmly believed that if you can’t do the story in game then it isn’t good enough for any part or consequence of it to actually be in the the game and nothing is going to convince me otherwise on that point.

I’ve been here since the game released, killed Zhaitan, fought the flame…ground.. legion.. the toxic alliance.. and somewhere between the mole-ten alliance.. that was the one, right? And the end of Scarlet these.. people.. just appeared and I have no idea why or where from and some time between them appearing and HoT I’m their leader?

I mean.. I missed a couple episodes at the beginning of HoT and just before it ’cause I took a bit of a break.. but did me and DE 2.0 become so chummy in such a short amount of time? And why do I NEVER actually feel like the Pact commander?

Like, that’s a whole other tangent, but.. I don’t feel like the second in command of a multi-national military organization. I only give orders on small scale, I’m always the one saving everyone, I never take other soldiers with me, coordinate troop movements, or ANYTHING… But, that really isn’t the point here, so.. I won’t get much more into that.

So, yeah. What are your thoughts on DE 2.0? Do you think it’s a good idea taking a crippled girl around the worth with you, despite her glorified prosthetic? I mean.. the devs even show at one point that she is, indeed, still just a kid. She selfishly runs off with her “oh-so-great” magical invention and risks both herself and the invention due to a childish outburst.

Who thought putting a child in that sort of situation would be a good idea? /smh

Planes, Trai- No, wait, just PvE Tank builds.

Elementalist, Tempest – 11/17/2015

The Sand Squall Tempest Raid Tank by Swyftwynd here.

So far the above is the only build I’ve, personally, found that actually seems like it works well and is simple to understand is the above build for Ele-tanking. However, on that note, I’ll begin to explain the idea of this thread.

There’s a lot of information from a lot of years ago in a lot of different locations.
What I’m looking to do here is make something akin to an indexed thread for tank builds, however I need everyone’s help and contributions!

While raid tank builds would be nice, they aren’t necessary. Again, however, this is for PvE, not PvP.

Honestly, any solid tank builds would be nice to have listed/indexed here.

Especially for things you wouldn’t normally think would tank, such as thief, ranger, etc.

From what I’ve gathered anything can tank, especially with the elite specs. It just requires decent DPS and plenty of armor/toughness as mobs target the thing with the most armor.

Links to builds on other parts of the site or other sites are welcome, of course, as are full explanations for the build.

However, in either case, to make it easy to index for people I’d like you to post the date the build was made/updated and the class, as well as if it requires an elite spec.

Here’s a couple of examples of the format I’d like you to use:

Warrior, Berserker – 1/10/17
Necromancer – 3/1/12

Easy enough, right?

Feel free to include titles, to name your builds, etc, etc, but always put a tag like above at the very top of your post if it’s a post for a build.

If you do link to a build that’s kind of old and could use a bit of an update feel free to include any notes on what’s out of date or what the player may consider taking over what’s listed, etc, etc, in your post if you’re not the OP of the original build!

Here’s hoping this turns out to be helpful for anyone that’s actually interested in tank builds for the game! Also don’t feel bad about making any suggestions or requests, but do try to keep the banter to a minimum, we don’t want to clutter the thread!

This is all about helping anyone and everyone looking for a good tank build regardless of class. Sometimes players just want a good tank and don’t have an idea for a class, a thread like this can convince them to play a class they otherwise simply wouldn’t have, so it’s all about information, teaching, and helping each other enjoy the game more, in new, and in exciting ways!

Need to revamp online gem pricing options.

Anet’s getting their money either way.

Exactly, Anet’s getting their money either way. No matter how people buy gems the fact is, they’re still buying gems. The only difference is that this way they’d have more people buying gems with real money than they currently have, because when you can just get just what you want, and not have to spend more than you want, you’re far more likely to make an impulse purchase (aka micro transaction) than if you have to buy more than what you want in order to get what you want.

The fact that they already offer more options in terms of gems in the form of cards shows that they can offer different gem amounts. Heck, even if they only add kitten amount to the in-game store it’d be a significant improvement over their current setup.

Need to revamp online gem pricing options.

In game we have 5 pricing options for buying gems with real money.

10, 20 , 35, 50, 100.

If you go to a store that has them or get a card shipped to you, however, we have popular options for 1200 and 2000 gems, the perfect balance between the 10 and 20 dollar options as well as the 20 and 35 dollar options.

Right now, this is the problem. We lack enough online auto-add options, but that doesn’t mean we have to.

I, personally, wanted 1200 gems, but realized that I couldn’t actually obtain that amount without driving to a store three hours away or waiting a week for it to be shipped to me, and even then I’d be paying, at least, tax. This wasn’t a good solution, there outright didn’t seem to be one, so that, as well as just for convenience, is why I thought up this post.

Ask yourself: “How can I make this content better?"

Personally, I can’t make this better. I don’t have the ability to choose what pricing I want for fictional currency, for some bizarre reason, yet that does lead me into the rest of this and my suggestion further down.

Consider: How have you seen this particular problem solved in other games?

In other similar games, regardless of how often they’re purchased, I’ve seen “freemium” currency be available for said purchase at numerous intervals, usually starting at 5 dollars and increasing in increment by 5 dollars with each subsequent option.

One example of this pretty much every Perfect World Entertainment game. Say what you will about the company, their games, etc, the fact is they all have a freemium currency and, while sometimes it’s a little tricky to find, it can always be bought in 5 dollar increments from, at least their website, which is immediately added to your account automagically.

Even Rift has some form of this, while it isn’t as convenient, they, at least, allow you to buy a 5 dollar pack multiple times, while technically 4.99, that’s more or less 5 bucks.

Consider: How do you think this particular element or aspect of the game could be improved?
Tell us why: If we ask a specific question, don’t just answer it—tell us why you answered that way.

From this point in the post down “you” and other similar words will be referring to “ANet” and/or “NCsoft,” not “you” the player or “you” the person reading, or “you” as any particular person.

You can make it better, simply, by making the in-game buy options start at 5 dollars and go up to 100, where it currently is, with $5 intervals all the way through. Anet loses nothing on this as customers pay any VATS, taxes, fees, etc, so having fewer options is just better business as money is money, no matter how much or little.

Or, to make it even better, you can put in a custom amount option like you already have for gold to gems. We already know that the cost of gems is $1.25 USD and has been such since the start, the same can be said for pretty much every other currency, as far as I’m aware, the price in game for gems bought with real currency has always been the same in each respective currency regardless of exchange rates.

The latter would allow much more flexibility and would let people buy as much as they want or as little, which is important because, again, money is money and it doesn’t matter how you get all the money as long as you get all the money. Having a “custom amount” option would be a huge boon simply for the convenience of it, even if you put in a minimum and a max.

An example where this would have been highly appreciated, no doubt, is this from this Reddit post. I’m sure he’d have appreciated one large transaction as opposed to 50 $100 transactions. While that’s an extreme example, it only shows how nice it would be to have this as an option, there’s legitimately no reason not to add this since it’s already done with gold to gems, the only difference here is that you’d simply just make it real money to gems with no gems to money. The pricing is set and solid and this would allow people to spend exactly what they want to get exactly how many gems they want.

After all, it’s better for you to get 400 gems worth of money when someone who already has 400 gems can’t wait to raise 400 more gems with gold and they want a new character slot than it is to lose out entirely because they don’t want to drop 10 bucks when they already have half of what the slot requires. This is just one example, of course, yet, still.

These aren’t real gemstones, they take literally no effort to produce, they’re just numbers automagically added to the player’s account once they give you real world money. In such you have nothing to lose and everything to gain with a custom gem purchase amount.

Now, finally, you may be thinking “We’re clever because we force people to buy more than they actually want,” but you’re not. You’re only shooting yourself in your own foot by doing that. More often than not they’ll by the amount below what they need then just grind the rest, with the trains going on it isn’t difficult to grind. Time consuming, perhaps, but many would rather have enough for just what they want than any left over for anything else. While I realize this does not apply to all players it’s fairly obvious that it applies to enough to be extremely valid and to net you even more money.

Found Belongings/Heirlooms

So while the Lion’s arch event was going on I had to stop playing near the end of it all. I had some frustrating family stuff going on and the like. However now I’m back and I’d like to continue playing, I’ve got a fair amount of these found belongings and heirlooms and would like to spend them, I worked hard to get them, after all. So where are the vendors for them? They aren’t in the camps any more for… whatever reason… So if they aren’t around any more is there any way I can get a GM or something to redeem them for me? It seems outright silly to not be able to redeem them just because I was away.

There is no way this bug will persist past the January update. If it does, Arenanet needs to really stop and consider new developmental leadership, because this is the definition of game breaking, exploitable bug.

Just hang in there until the january patch. They will fix it, no worries.

Oooh optimism. Almost into March and still the same problems.

Seriously, though. This whole “host” stuff hast to change. On another note having “story” mode a prerequisite for an EXP dungeon is also just a lot of bee. You should be able to do story mode -if you want- yet not be -FORCED- to do it. That’s where this problem stems from, that’s why the do this whole “host” thing, no doubt. That way people can’t just start dungeoning right away and get the gear they want, they have to, instead, do a completely pointless run that gives nearly no reward FIRST and then they’re allowed to do regular dungeons.. well.. maybe. If their host doesn’t leave. ._.

This needs to change, period.

No Rewards at the end of Lost Shore Event

Talk about a PR nightmare. All the bugs and issues in this event really overshadowed how good it should have been. I know I wanted to have a couple people playing with me through the free trial to try to get them to actually get the game and play, yet with all the bugs and other issues I actually felt embarrassed suggesting this game as worthy of their time and money. Before the event I figured the bugs were relatively forgivable and easy to just ignore for the most part, yet with such a broken event happening with absolutely no chance of it happening again or anyone getting recompense for the time they put into it I am honestly glad I found other things to do with my friends. This was a huge flop, in my opinion, and I know I won’t again suggest anyone go for this game, at least not for a very long while.

The title says it all “Much needed.” I don’t know exactly what went wrong with the pet system when they were developing it yet from what I’ve read it seems like they had tons of great ideas.. and then just kinda forgot they ever had them.

Pet progression is a big one for me, if I’m decked out in 80 legendary gear some day with a massive long bow and axes the size of myself in each hand I sure do not want to have a juvenile -anything- standing by my side. I’d rather just go it alone and leave the “kids” in my pocket dimension.

Diessa Plateau – Vista that requires you to use a cannon to get there, when you talk to the NPC it says : “The content is currently unavailable please try again later”.

Just to let you know, you can just use the cannon, you don’t have to talk to the NPC. That’s how I and at least one other person I seen got up there. It’ll just teleport you to the top of the tower.

Forums not showing server/world list.

trianglecubed.3750

Hello there! I’m not sure why I don’t see this already, however I’m certain this must be a bug as it’s far too important a feature to be left out! The forums must have glitched out as I don’t see server/world sub-forums anywhere! This is bad as I’m wondering where to start however with absolutely nothing to go off of to give me an idea of the community of each server/world I find I would have to just choose servers all willy nilly and hope for the best. So I’ve decided that I’ll just wait until it’s fixed. However as nothing about it has come up I figured I’d submit a report to make sure it’s known.

Thank you!
