Offhand shield.
shields are already offhand
this world event use to be my favorite. most other world event were to kill a big boss by finding the blind spot and spam 1 till death. this event however was a mini invasion. work your way too the stronghold, take out catapults, hold of enemy reinforcements, kill the hound then the keep lord. always something between 10 – 30 people there ever.
since the megaserver invasion, it has become way too populated. i dont even see the mobs before the champ beasts anymore do they get killed that fast? were they taken out?. its at the point where the only way to get any champ rewards is to be in a group, otherwise you only get the end event chest.
this event went from invasion to zerg train and im not happy
i only recently re-picked up pvp. i used to play a lot in the early game but stopped for whatever reason and couldn’t find my way back to it until the april update. this morning it occurred to me that one of the maps were missing.
i recall a map that had a pirate ship, a cannon, and one of its capture points surrounded by sharks underwater. what was the name of that map and why haven’t i seen it in any rotation?
has anyone ever used mimic at all other than to see what it does? im asking about pve pvp and wvw. if any skill needs to be reworked, it’s this one
same here. it’s becoming a serious problem. i feel harassed
i also stumbled across this build myself with this new patch and was amazed at the survivability. my build was geared more towards soloing so there wasnt much focus on the glamor skills in my traits. i had decoy, mirrored images and null field most of the time and only used signet of inspiration when in dungeons. i never considered using a focus paired with bountiful interruptions. i’ve been using off hand sword for the block and extra clone but i am excited to try your choice to see how it turns out.
yeah i thought that too but then i noticed that it only heals when you charge your mantra, not when you cast it. more people would use it if it was the other way around
yup. it’s called the “mesmersaat”
hadn’t thought of that. i was thinking more along the lines of a street performer thowing knives at their assistant, not so much nobles.
hahah its such a joke when your ONLY option to be half useful for pve/dungeons is to run a shatter build. in wvw you throw your mes to garbage because its by far the worst class in the game now, gg anet! across the years i’ve learned they’re one of the worst when it comes to nerfing/fixing (going by gw1).
to be fair, having 100 profession combos must have made guild wars 1 HELL to balance. i dont blame them for gw1 at all
i don’t believe the MH pistol should be a thing. Yes the mesmer is missing a good ranged 1h weapon but i don’t think it goes with the deulest vibe arenanet was going for. i have been reading threads on it to see if you guys can change my mind on the subject but more often than no, when it’s brought up, it begins to look far too much like the thief IMO.
instead i say this:
a ranged dagger build
the daggers will play to the mesmers showmanship quality and resemble dagger thrower street performers and such. IMO a lot more lore friendly to the class.
iwarden only reflects while spining
all you need is a staff. after that, dealers choice
C-C-C-COMBO BREAKER!!!
couldn’t resist
srry if i ruined your back and forth
if the point is to have fun i think he hit the point dead on target. the auto balance is definitely a good enough reason. not to mention if someone comes into the match late and he gets a massive bonus for being lucky enough to be on the winning team is also unfair for those who contributed to get that bonus. the bottom line is if you performed well, you get rewarded. if you don’t perform well, your not rewarded, regardless of the outcome.
my only complaint is that you get no points for stalling the enemy team. i’m the kinda player that blocks the team from capping a point just by presence for the good of the team even if he knows he wont survive. or staying on a point instead of leaving it for the enemy to recap. just today i held a group of 3-4 people from storming in killing the keep lord while the rest of my team caps points and holds them for about 300 points. as a result i got the lowest score in the game. so yes there are a few problems with the scoring but you can see what Anet is going for.
the focus is currently my favorite OH weapon for the mesmer. i like to keep a safe distance from my opponent so my only option is the scepter. i assume the scepter is a survival weapon since the trait line that directly benefits it deals with vitality and healing power. the only trait that specifically references the scepter give a condition damage buff. this makes me believe that we are expected to spike with the only condition available to the scepter: confusion. with these two things in mind there are two areas that can easily be changed to help the scepter:
1. the more obvious and popular complaint is about the 1 slot chain skill. what i do not recommend is adding confusion to the first attack so that your clones use it too. the trident clones cause confusion and even playing as a mesmer i feel it is a bit over powered having clones constantly bombard enemies with bouncing balls of confusion. having this on a scepter that can practically sneeze out clones would be far too godly. you can add it to the 2nd or 3rd chain (dealers choice) but is not all that necessary to have it there at all.
2. what i would very much like to see is more mobility and an easier way to hide yourself among your clones. i believe a good way to do this is a “flicker” similar to what happens when you use the scepter block skill. it teleports you a very short distance and summons a clone at the same time.
3. of course this only helps at short range since the mesmers are summoned at the target. if done at long range telling who the real mesmer is is child’s play even if you are moving. for this reason i would also like to see clones summoned at the caster instead of the target. i realize that it summons at the target to prepare for a shatter but i believe that clones summoning on the caster is more beneficial.
4. lastly the block skill doesn’t feel very useful. after a successful block you add a clone. not too bad but all it is is a 50/50 chance to guess who you are. in my opinion it seems better to use the block to blind. you get the same initial effect of avoiding damage but now your free to do whatever you want without worrying about giving away who you are too soon. i would like to see the block a bit more…punishing. i believe a few stacks of confusion would do nicely as well as fit the theme of the skill.
thoughts?
i want this as well but look at it from a pvp perspective. the color of skills tells a player the class of players around them. if i see a blue dome (sanctuary) im going to treat it differently from a pink dome (feedback). a small example but with big implications.
MY THOUGHTS
- i cant help but think that 2h axes would be too much like 2h sword or even worse, 1h axe w/ even more power.
- to everyone who’s posting katana, scimitar, rapier, ect. they are all swords and will probably get a new skin later on.
- i do want to see some kind of pole arm like a halberd, javelin or lance (i realize that the halberd is a lot like a 2h axe but the heart wants what the heart wants). mabey in the cantha expantion (if there is one) they may introduce the naginata.
- the whip sounds good. maybe for a sadistic necro, an indiana jones ranger, possibly mesmer.
- the boomerang is an interesting choice. they are usually used in games and tv when the subject matter is geared toward kids and they dont want to show too much violence. originally thought to have mystical properties, it can go with many caster type professions but since it’s not a very threatening weapon i cant see it as more than an OH weapon.
- introducing the crossbow seems like a step back after introducing guns. imagine how the inventor must feel crwaling out from whatever cave he’s been hiding in and showing his “new invention” the crossbow when someone points a gun in their face.
